After Hurricane Katrina, I had to purchase new flooring for my home which was severely damaged in the storm. I bought four room of Bruce Hardwood flooring [not cheap]. It was installed and now it is flaking like scabbies. There are brown dots, they spread like chicken pocks, the wood starts to bubble, splinter, and chip off. It was a mis-mash of colors from light cherry to deep mahogany. It was like tiger stripes in some areas. I t had to be changed three times. It continues this process. After speaking to the store manager and several people in the flooring department and Bruce flooring, they decided that they would not fix it again and would not honor the warranty. I was forced just to take the money back for this horrible substandard flooring. If I had not, I would have had to have sued both Bruce and Lowes. You would think that Katrina was enough, but I would rather have shipping crates on my floors than this unsightly mess. I was told that it was costing too much money to keep replacing it. Neither even offered to come and rip it up or pay for the expense for me to hire someone. Katrina means "a Cleansing" so I've heard, maybe I need it now more than before Katrina.
Don't buy Bruce products. They don't stand behind them. I know because I am installer for a major retailer .
I am having a lot of problems with hardwood supplied by Bruce. They will always comeback with excuse not to honor the warranty.
I have seen the bad reviews on bruce flooring does that include bruce high impact hickory flooring I still have time to cancel the order any imput will be helpful
I have been installing engineered wood floors for years. I have never installed Bruce product until now. I have never seen such an inferior product. Simply trying to install it, the locking ridges flake right off with the least of pressure making many pieces unusable. There are warped planks, damaged boards right out of the box and discoloring. Don't know what we're going to do at this point. After reading the comments above, I seriously doubt the retailer (or Bruce) is going to do anything about it. Yes, this sucks!
I had engineered wood floors glued down in 4 rooms. It has excessive dents, scratches, sun fading near the slider, and is starting to peel in places. I only used Bona to clean with a damp mop and not that often as it was recommended just to vacuum. I never wear shoes inside, just go bare footed. Don't own high heels. Might have dropped the hammer once or twice; I will admit to that. The top coat has lost its initial gloss and looks cloudy in the traffic areas, like I used some bad cleaner. I clean these floors so I know what's been used. Never Murphy Oil. Never vinegar. After reading all these horror stories, I now know that it's not me! I am not a wood floor abuser! I haven't been too rough on my floors! It's just the inferior product I was sold. Bummer.
I put Bruce engineered hardwood flooring in 1999. its 2015 and I put in a claim because the finish and stain is totally wore off in spots(not even traffic spots). the box states LIFE TIME WARRANTY now amrstrong says it was a limited warranty and only covered for a few yrs. So what is the life time warranty? It doesn't state on the box that is was a limited warranty only states LIFE TIME. Armstrong says I should have researched the warranty. I purchased the product by its advertising on the box LIFE TIME and I'm still alive. Armstrong says I could have looked it up on the internet. 1999 I was not on the internet. I still have the box and the receipts. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING MADE BY BRUSE/ARMSTRONG EVER AGAIN. Armstrong says its not responsible for what Bruce put on the box. but they say they do honor the warranty but only the limited warranty.
We bought Bruce Oak Cherry hardwood floor from Home Depot in September 2012 for our second floor. For two years, the floor was fine until this year we could hear some parts are squeaky and found some gaps between planks. We had our living/dining & famiy rooms installed with another company in 2010 and the floor is fine. I called Home Depot to complain but I was asked to call Armstrong instead. The guy from Armstrong by the name of Josh said it's the humidity of our house. I told him how come the flooring on the ground floor is fine. He told me bluntly that there is no warranty and was advised to buy humifier/s and place them wherever the squeaky place it. So we have to live with this problem while we have this flooring. DAMN!
We have a brand new house that we have lived in for 4 months now. Our floors are destroyed. We have a Pomeranian and there are scratches everywhere. Horrible floors and we paid top dollar for the mahogany.
My hardwood floors have been down for about a month. Within 2 days I noticed scratches in the soft finish. I can scratch the finish with my fingernail! Spent over $6000 for the ground floor in our townhouse. I am so upset about this. The type of floor is Bruce CB1210 solid oak. I dropped a dinner fork in the kitchen, and that left a mark. Why is the finish so soft?
I have two rooms with Bruce flooring and now I have a major problem. There is practically no finish to protect the wood. If it gets wet the clear finish peels and brown spots appear. Staining happens where the wood pieces meet. The rest of my house has the original wood which is over 80 years old. There is no problem if it gets wet and it does not fade. My Bruce flooring is faded. You can see dark shapes where the furniture is and faded wood around it. Very unhappy.
I bought my new home 7 years ago and it has Bruce flooring throughout the entire house. The day we were moving in I noticed the furniture was making dents in the wood because it was so soft. About two years ago the finish and stain started to wear off. Now in the high traffic areas it is so bad. Warning to everyone...Do not buy Bruce flooring!
Purchased special order from Home Depot of 5 " wide 3/4 thick solid wood vintage oak flint 1000 sq ft. Bruce American Vintage Handscraped collection. Installer with 30 yrs of experience advised of poor quality of flooring. Floors have holes from knots, marked by red markers, different stain pieces in box and started cracking and peeling right after installation. Over 50% of planks were deemed as defective by Home depot reps themselves. Waiting to hear from Bruce reps for more than 2 months. Paid top dollars for boxes of defective wood which said proudly manufactured in the States. Can't walk barefoot because of splinters! Promised 50 years of warranty?
