On August 19, 2021, we booked our room coming from Whistler to North Vancouver, we called directly to book a room at Travelodge by Wyndham Vancouver Lions Gate, 2060 Marine Dr, North Vancouver, BC V7P 1V7. They told us there was one room available which we took. When we arrived I could not believe that the pictures on the site were so deceiving the motel looked run down and dilapidated. There looked like there were people living there and we could not have been more nervous and disgusted by the motel. Since we had travel for quite some time and it was already hard to find another place we decided that we had not a choice. We went to the front desk to finalize our booking from there we were told we had to pay the whole amount upfront AND a 300.00 damage deposit upfront before receiving the key. Unfortunately for us, we had booked two nights over the phone before realizing what we had gotten ourselves into.
the site and pamphlet said there was a 24/h restaurant which there was NOT one of the vending machines were broken as well. The next morning we decided that with children one night was enough and we needed to cancel our booking for the next day. We were up at 8 am walked to the front desk to cancel the booking for August 20, 2021, but were told that we could not cancel we needed 24 hours notice which would have been impossible due to the fact we booked at 8:00 pm on August 19, 2021, and if went off of when we booked we still cancelled well before 24/hours. The front desk attendant was unbelievably rude and unhelpful. We tried to ask for more information a place to call and enquire about the cancellation but were given no help just kept giving us Travelodge cards and pamphlets. We did call the number on the pamphlet which was hilarious because they ended up just transferring us BACK to the front desk what was the point of even calling the 1-800 number at all.
I have yet to get my damage deposit back. I can not believe this place is part of this franchise they should be embarrassed to have their name Travelodge attached to this place.
Desired outcome: I want my canceled night and damage deposit back !!!! It's been two days still waiting!!!
