Cabot Deck Correct Stain
We purchased and used Cabot deck correct paint in July 2020 and used it on our existing pool deck. We followed the instructions for preparation and application. The deck had never been stained or painted. It was treated lumber. It had no riding issues. We wanted to protect it before it began to have any signs of rot. Within the first few months, the paint began to peel up in spots. The following year the small peeling turned into huge strips coming off. This year, over half of the deck boards and top railing boards as well as step treads are rotting to the point of needing replaced for safety! We believe that the deck correct caused our deck to rot. There were no issues before using the product.
Desired outcome: We would like to have a monetary reimbursement for the cost we now must spend to replace the wood. At minimum, we would like our purchase cost for the deck correct to be refunded.
Deck Correct
we have used and painted our decks 20 x 30 and 60 x 30 for 4 years with Deck Correct Blue Spruce. This year we did the hand rails and 1 coat of paint on the big deck and went to get more and were told that you have changed the formulas and we can't get a match. Who's idea was that? The former marketing director for Bud Light? That [censored]. What are we supposed to do now? repaint in a different color I have been waiting for a week for an answer and it's costing money and aggravation
Desired outcome: repaint the decks
Cabot deck correct
I power washed the deck, it had never had any stain or other treatment prior except for annual power washing. After several days of direct sun to dry the deck, it looked almost new except for some checking and cracking. Several stores, {Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, Ace) all recommended using the CABOT Deck Correct tinted to match the stained trim of the house. So, I did. At the time, it looked fantastic and filled in the blemishes quite well.
Now some 18 months later, it is peeling up in sizeable pieces and looks worse than before with nothing applied. Although it appears that all of the other CABOT stain products have a "Lifetime" warranty, Deck Correct only has a one-year warranty. I am very disappointed. I spent well over $1500.00 on stain for the house including the "Deck Correct" all of it Cabot Stain. I also have many hours involved in the project, but this deck looks terrible. I have spent quite a bit of time peeling up the loose product and re-staining those areas with the regular tinted house stain. The color matches, but the texture is not the same and is noticeable.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund of the money spent on this Cabot Deck Correct - roughly $50.00... Thankfully I only needed one gallon of this product. Unfortunately, I do not have a receipt...
Cabots Deck Correct
This product was applied to our deck by a licensed contractor (Yuresko Construction Services) 11/9/2020 for a total cost of $2,395. They provided your product. We were sold on this product as they indicated it should be used prior to the stain/paint as it was to prolong the life of the deck and the stain that was put on it. Since then it has been peeling off in large pieces. This spring is the worst Our deck looks like trash and it's hard to get the stuff that is still stuck on.
Desired outcome: Would like to see Cabot take full responsibility for their defective product in the way of reimbursement not only for the product purchased but the cost to put it on and to get it removed and new stain/paint put on.
Lack of support
We had our deck and dock stained at Lake Panorama in Panora, Iowa. The man we hired is very experience with working on doing this work. The stain we chose was Cabot and was purchased at Lake Lumber in Panora. The dock was done first and looked so great we decided to do the large deck on the front of our house. That one didn't take so well.
The photo I've attached show you what the dock looks like less than two years later. The deck looks worse, less than one year later.
Allegedly a Cabot representative came out to look and claimed it was not a stain problem. At last six homes on the lake have the same issue (not all the same contractor) but Cabot says it is not their fault. Sorry but this seems like a bad batch of stain. No one can explain why an oil-based product is "flaking off". This has caused us to re-stain the deck and dock and when we invite people over we need to apologize for the horrible condition of our new areas.
Desired outcome: I'd like Cabot to take some responsibility and reimburse us for all materials/time that we paid to have this done.

I painted my deck which is 18 x 12 in 2020 and it looked great for the first year. The next spring it had started peeling and bubbling up. I repainted with the same stuff. This next year (2022) it is doing the same thing. I went under the deck and the wood is soft. I am so frustrated and heartbroken. This year I have painted over the bad spots just to prevent further damage and will not look so bad and maybe last until next spring. I am an older person and have back issues and was hoping that it would last. I need help as it seems I am going to have to replace at least half of the floor of the deck. Please help me.
Desired outcome: Money to replace in floor part of my deck. I have priced it at approximately $1800.00 and that doesn’t include labor.
Cabot Wood Cleaner
I have been using Olympic Premium Deck Cleaner for about 15 years. I ran out while removing Mildew and dirt from by shed in Eagle Lake, Maine. The nearest Home Depot is 2:45 minutes away. So I went to SW Collins and Sons in Fort Kent. I was told that the best wood cleaner they sold was Cabot Wood Cleaner, so I bought a gallon for $20 ($3 more than Olympic Premium Deck Cleaner).
I used it yesterday afternoon to finish up the small section on my shed where I had run out of the great stuff. I don't believe your product removed any mildew. Honestly, your product sucks.
Desired outcome: All I want is my $20 back, I don't want coupons, I just want a check for $20 made out to:Ricky MartinMy home address is:6A Appleledge DrPortland, ME [protected]
Cabot solid color acrylic deck stain
Got this product 2 years ago, applied to decks after following all instructions , new deck, seasoned boards, clean and dry.. following season all deck started pealing! Spoke to the company and sent pics, they replaced the order of paint, I had to resurface the decks and reapply again the stains and it was a big deck took almost 5 full 5 gallon bucket’s , this season (2022) again is pealing.. now after calling the company they asked for paint samples, pictures, proof of purchase, what I provided… and they said the microscopic test showed moisture ! Really ! Of course there is moisture since it’s pealing and rain is getting everywhere under the stain ! just to conclude that the warranty is Void ! What a disgusting answer I got!and I’m not a first time project guy, I remodel homes for a living, and just for this project I spent over $1,000 more than 2 years ago ! Disappointed with Cabot , the Lifetime Warranty is synonymous to No Care !
Will never buy this products again, don’t recommend it , Cabot don’t stand for what they Advertised !
Desired outcome: Cabot lied about their Warranty and very conveniently Voided my warranty on a product that didn’t perform

I purchased my house in 2014, which had a sizable deck that needed touch up. I believe the original surface was paint but was pretty well completely worn off aside from the spindles. I went to my local menards, and was suggested cabot deck correct, which would fill any cracks and have a thicker coverage to help alleviate yearly repainting or staining. I applied the product and initially it looked great! After a bit however it began to flake off, to the point of being able to pull pieces off that were 3-5 inches long in almost a paint like sheet! It has completely peeled up. I did touch up areas on it once, and am now at a loss as of what to do next as that did the same thing. I am completely unsatisfied with this product! It seems to sit on top of the wood if it can be peeled away in entire sections.
Desired outcome: Refund of product, time etc in order to now scrape off what is peeling off and do something else with the deck
The very same thing happened to me here in Northern California. Cabot Deck Correct is horrible! It cost me $60 a gallon at my local Ace Hardware Store. I cleaned, sanded back down to the wood, cleaned again, and dried our 900 square-foot wood deck. Painted the Cabot Deck Correct on thickly with a roller. Dried it out in 85-degree heat. Five months later, with no snow-shoveling or sweeping, the winter snow melted away and our deck peeled up in horrible patches covering over 40 percent of the surface. I cannot believe this product is even on the market. I loved their long-lasting oil stain at my other house. The Ace Hardware store said this thick, gloppy, gooey stuff would last longer and look good. NO WAY! Now I will never purchase another Cabot product. Save your money and all that prep work for something else, folks.

Live in MN
Sanded entire deck with commercial sander then went over everything with hand sander to make sure ant loose stain was gone.
Cleaned deck and waited 3 days to stain
Stained with Deck Correct waited 24 hours and did another coat. No rain
Within 1 week stain started bubbling in random places and is now peeling!
My other complaint is it doesn't clean well. I have dogs and grandchildren that with even the smallest amount of dirt on there feet seems to stick on the deck. Spraying with water doesn't help. I have scrubbed with soap to get some dirt off but not all! I have grass all around my deck.
Desired outcome: Refund, solution to peeling and how to keep cly

We bought a house in 2020, and had a wood deck on front and back of the house. We went to lowes and they recommend deck correct so we bought 6 gallons of it. Clear satin stain
I have an eight hundred square ft deck.
It was recently sanded and stained with Cabot clear satin.
It is made of cabbage bark.
I am going to include photos.
It was done in sept. And prepped according to the can.
I bought 5 gallons at 150+$ per gallon.
Please advise if there is anything the company can do to fix this.
It is facing west and north so it isn't the sun.
I live up in the mountain pine ridge in Belize CA.
Thank you in advance for your response.
Desired outcome: Refund of purchase or a total redo at the companies cost.
australian timber oil
Refinished Purple Heart Deck originally coated with Messmers. Pressure washed to remove old finish & coated with Cabot Jarrah Brown Australian Timber Oil. Desk now has a prolific white fungus which is basically dissolving the wood . have spare wood outside {not coated} which is fine so stands to reason Stain is the problem. This is a floating deck on a treated 2x4 base which does not have stain on it & is fine. Fungus not evident where deck boards touch the 2x4's. The boards in the pictures have had about 2 in. of the fungus scraped off. This is the bottom of the boards
cabot stainng brush
Used brand new Cabot stain brush this morning with ATO. Cleaned immediately after use and bristles are falling out like I've never seen. I was loosing some bristles during use, which I have seen before, usually in cheaper brushes. I could and have dealt with this issue if a few bristles release. Still a major pain for a painter. Thanks Ed Taylor. Fast-Steady Painting.
Peeling
I have stained many wooden items and never had a problem with staining. I contacted the company to verify which stain to use;
washed and scrubbed the old deck as requested. Spent all summer staining the old and the new deck. Last winter I watched it all peel off. When I contacted them; I was told I should have primed the wood. Stain is suppose to penetrate the wood not sit on the surface as regular paint would do. Now I am stuck with a mess. So now I am using Flood Stain with excellent results.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Peeling problem
I had used Cabot Solid Stain with Teflon for years with EXCELLENT performance. I extended my deck last year, built a bar and gazebo and bought the "same product" to spray the new work. As it was going on I could tell it was not the same. I needed to spray everything... about 15 gallons worth. I had called Cabot to ask where I could get the solid stain with...
