I have a PIXMA MG 3520 printer that I like. It has worked well for me for many years (and yes, I realize it is an old model). I recently got a home laptop to replace my desktop and tried to install the driver. I have the original CD but the laptop doesn't have a CD player. I tried downloading the driver from the website, followed the directions and in the end was shown error "driver unavailable". Again, I realize this is an old model but it is a functioning printer for what I need and I don't want to have to buy a new one just because I have a new computer. But when I called customer support I was told that they could not help because they stopped offering phone support for this model 3 years ago and the only thing they could do was to direct me to the website.
1) Why would the driver be listed as downloadable on the website if it is in fact no longer available
2) If that is not working, how am I to proceed with getting my printer driver on my computer?
3) Surely Canon's business model is not that because I chose to buy a new computer, I must now also buy a new printer when the one I have works well still?
Desired outcome: assistance getting the driver installed on my computer so that I can print things.
