In September 2023 we were enticed into buying a vacation plan from Capital Vacations Club while vacationing in Branson Missouri. We were skeptical about their claims, so we made them show us an actual vacation stay we were planning in Colorado in February of 2024. Their representative showed us a number of options in and around Aspen Colorado and one in particular in Snowmass was exactly what we were interested in (2 Br/2Ba, full Kitchen and sofa sleeper condominium). They informed us that it would cost us 40,000 of our points (we get 150,000 each year with our membership) and $500 out of pocket. Paying with cash helps to reduce the amount of points you spend. They showed us the property on a website and our cost.

Additionally, they boasted about the properties they owned all over the world that we as (Lifestyle) members could access for a great rate ($290-400) for 3 or 4 days stay.

We should have been even more skeptical when we only had 5 calendar days to cancel (by certified letter). We bought the contract on a Thursday while on vacation so we didn’t have the time to stop and research the vacation rental ourselves. (We would have had to mail the letter on Sunday to cancel on time).

Then in October, we went to their website to plan the stay in Colorado that we had discussed with the sales staff and were shocked to learn that this same location was not available in their system. In fact, none of the locations they showed us on the day of sale was there. Not just during the time period we were looking at, not listed at all.

The only Hotel we did find in their system did not have a kitchen or sofa would cost us 150,000 points and $3,000. The absurdity of this was I could book this location on my own for $3,500; the same price less the $500 credit for 150k points without having to use any points!

The next day I called their reservation center and not only was I informed that “they do not have any condominium options in their system (just hotels) but that the price I saw was as good as they could offer”.

Just last night we looked to see if we could book any reservation at one of their properties in Destin Florida. I found out that here are no openings available for the next 365 days (that is as far out as their system will allow). Then tried another site in Orlando and had the same outcome.

A couple of weeks ago I called to file a complaint with the Capital Vacations and was told they do not do that directly and their representative would forward my complaint. I then asked how long before I could expect a reply, she said weeks! It has been two weeks already and I have not heard a word. I will call again today and ask what the status of my complaint is. I honestly do not expect a reply since everything they’ve already said has been a deceitful.

Finally, we were told that if we had to cancel any reservation, we would be refunded our points. That too was misrepresented. There are periods where percentages of points are refunded.

This company totally mislead us into buying this contract!

At this point all I want is to have my contract cancelled and be refunded my purchase price. (We have not used any of their vacation plans)

Desired outcome: refund
