Resume/Cover Letter
I really don't want to be rude but I regret spending money on documents that I can't use.
Recently asked for a cover letter and resume for a federal position. Justin, the owner, has been doing that.
He doesn't pay attention to ANY details in resume (even didn't look into the information provided). I should resend resume and job link twice, I don't even talk about exra files I uploaded for more information.
He refused my requests for more customization of my resume, saying that the cover letter will do it.
Well, the cover letter he provided, included only the job number (after I asked it to add) You won't find any specific words related to the job position. He didn't even include a person name from the job description to address the cover letter
The resume format is awful. No header, no details for the position (FED resume), the main part summary is not tailored to the position AT ALL
He never returned my phone call, even after I left a message asking to call me back.I called Justin on Friday, Sep 4, at 10:56 AM on the number [protected] from his email and left him a message. Call duration is about a minute (59 sec to be exact). But he preferred to argue via emails till 3 PM same day.
I spent $250+ I didn't use the resume/cover letter from Justin for the position I targeted.
I ended up not using the resume I paid for. Instead I tailored my previous resume/cover letter.
On top of everything, he is very rude. His argument 'I will not respond to arguments any further. Please provide what I am asking for' other words: do my job you paid for (write the resume)
Don't waste your money! If you want a GOOD resume, go to the fiverr website, choose whoever you prefer (I did it base on the reviews) and for 3+ times less money you'll get a great cover letter and resume without any stress.
I'm not satisfied with the service, I didn't use your resume and won't use it. I want my money back in this case.
After all, he refused to return the money on the resume that I can't use.

While the resume created looked better than my initial one, it actually made things far worse when it came to actually getting an interview. The feedback I received was that my resume looked too busy and it was hard to read and understand what was going on. I was wondering why I was having such a difficult time getting interviews all of a sudden in such a easy job market. It was because the layout of my resume was hard to understand. I tried talking to the guy while he was creating it, but he wasn't very friendly and he was very straight and to the point. He really didn't have much feedback and didn't offer much conversation to go over anything. This was by far some of the worst money I ever spent. I highly DO NOT recommend this service. My advice is to talk to someone who is easy to work with BEFORE you spend the money. I had to redo that resume he gave me and I basically gave away $200 for nothing.

Do not use this company, all they want is your money while letting somebody who doesn't know what your job description is even after you've already submitted to them your own six page resume. All you get initially is some sales guy telling you the so called benefits of using there system but in the end you get referred to some general writer who really doesn't add to the value of what you've already produced. Total waste of my money, I even asked to refund the second half of my money since they didn't complete the job but didn't honor it, plus they are way over priced.

bad product, bad service
I had a nasty experience. I am writing it to prevent people repeating my mistake. So, here is a question: How does someone write a resume about an industry they don't know? - They can't or at least, not the right way. That is what happened to me with Career Plus. I am a 3d environment artist for games. The guy responsible for my resume assured me he knows what to do... and I trust him... Here is the summary in bullet points of what happened to me: - I submit my old resume for review, they tell me it is bad (figures). I ask for an expert in my field since it is full of technical words and so on; he says "don't worry I know what to do". - I pay, give my linked in profile and a bit of extra information on the questionnaire to make sure he gets some terminology refreshment. - I receive the first draft. Upon closer examination I see potential but no key word regarding my area but programming instead and what I call a "collage" in formatting: Tables, 4 types of bullet-points symbols, italics and bolds everywhere. 0 consistency. I thought it was a template for later fixes. I point out my area of expertise is art, not programming. - Next draft, same stuff with few changes that combine my field of work with their view of my field of work creating something rather unique.. but not in the good way. - Lack of consistency, redundant, asides from pretty much creating a new career to describe what I do... just no. I have a lawyer and a graphic designer friend that glanced over it and also said "Get your money back" - I write back letting know that this "resume" it is just unacceptable and ask for a refund. - I receive a call. Apparently I hit the ego of my writer pretty bad, since he began to defend his work vigorously even though I was telling him that his draft was not representing my field. Then he began attacking my work (my old indie development game projects displayed on my resume). He then caught my accent mentioning "well I dont know you but this is how it is done in America". Even after all that, I was rather calm (I am used to that kind of personalities in the Gaming Industry), I asked for a refund he told me no, he worked on those drafts so he wont be giving my money back. I said fine, you can keep it, but I will write a review. Thus here we are. You are welcome to try this resume writer, maybe you will have a better experience, but seriously with a "No refund" policy and a writer like that... You have been warned.
service not useful at all, and terrible attitude!
Firstly, they simply used a template that can be found in the first page on their website. I don't think their template looks better than mine, and it was so simple and stupid. My original copy is only one page and well structured, however the one then send back to me got 2 pages. So I question the person who rewrote my resume, why didn't you keep it less than one page (I am entry level just graduated with bachelor degree)?
And guy responded that "You should not worry about page number. Hiring managers don’t make important decisions for candidates based on the number of pages on a resume. That’s nothing but a rumor. If I make this one page, it will require deleting very important information from your resume which I do not suggest."
Secondly, there were horrible inconsistencies in the revised draft they send back to me, and the structure was definitely missed up! The contents for section A missed up with the title for section B, and the format between each sections are not consistent. The guy responded this "Can you please be more specific? They do not look inconsistent to me."
Thirdly, they did not make any changes to the contents of my original copy, nothings was changed for the words I wrote. The guy said that "Your actual work experience will not change because those are things you actually performed. They must remain concise and straight to the point as they are."
To sum up, they always had a "nice" execution for any dissatisfaction (all of them) you had.
Finally, this is what the person told me in the last email he sent me "We cannot guarantee anything, but we do know what works best in most cases based on our experience and feedback over the many years we have been in business. We cannot control what an employer does, we are just providing a service."
Whether or not you have decided to use their service, please only regard my complain as a reference. I'm not telling anyone to not use their service, so please make your own judgement.

Certain situations are different and not everyone's background is the same. Therefore, your unique situation required a different approach. very poorly written resume
Careersplusresumes.com is a resume writing services I hired to write a professional resume for my job search. I sent them a very rough draft of my experience just to give them an idea of what my job history was all about, hoping to get a call for a detailed interview. I got a call from one of their resume writer named Drew indicating that they just received my payment and document and it seemed like a straight shot. I indicated that the document sent was only to give them a rough idea and he would need to interview me to fully understand my work history so he can write an effective resume for me. He was like he understood my history and I should wait for his first draft, and then make changes from there. I was fine with that thinking he knew what he was doing. The first draft was a summary of the rough draft I sent to him; basically plagiarized what I sent to him. I told him that he needed to interview me to get details of my history so to provide an appropriately written resume in his own words. He indicated that the resume he provided was the way my resume should be, based on his professional experience. However, I told him that the contents did not fully indicate my professional experience and I definitely cannot use this resume. After much argument, he reluctantly agreed to interview me. After the interview, I received a second draft where only few words were revised basically a second draft without any input from the interview. I called him indicating that if he is unwilling to revise the resume to include all my relevant work experiences, he should refund my money. He insisted that the resume he provided is the right one and refused to change it. Basically, the thinks he knows what employers are looking for in my line of work which is a highly technical field. Careersplusresumes.com still has not refunded my money or revised the resume. From my experience, I will advise anyone that wants a professionally written resume to not consider using this company because they provide poorly written resume and lack the people skills to work with the client to bring their substandard work up to par. They are a waste of your time and money, do not use them.
Ha, what is your point? You could have written those reviews yourself. Only God and you know how authentic those are. What you should try to do is figure out how to get to the bottom of this issue and turn an unhappy customer into a happy one. Any professional that is competent and genuine would take that path instead of trying to indicate how great you are by using questionable reviews without addressing the issue. I would rate you "very awful" in service recovery. You guys are a joke. Thank God for sites like complaintsboard.com, that lets the public know about sites like careersplusresumes.com.

I completely agree with the comments posted. This company is seriously shady. The owner (Justin) actually called me on the phone to scream at me when I requested a refund...so that should tell you what kind of "professionals" you're dealing with. They will post fake comments on their website, harass you after you've asked them to stop contacting you, argue with you about your career...just do yourself a favor. Save your money and don't waste it with these bullies!
This is a copy of the complaint I filed with the BBB (since it won't be posted on the BBB site):
I purchased the resume writing service plus the LinkedIn Profile writing and cover letter under the guarantee that I would receive a full refund if I did not land a job interview using the resume they wrote w/in 3 months.
I was contacted by the writer on 12-14-2011 with the first draft. After several revisions, I requested a refund on 12-17-2011 for services not provided (everything except the resume); the request was honored by the company. After using the resume for six months with no interview offers, I contacted the company through email requesting a full refund under their guarantee. Careers Plus Resumes' response was that "you must send us ten signed and dated pre-interview rejection letters via Certified Mail that you have received from employers to help us reduce fraud as stated in our Terms of Service located at http://www.cpresumes.com/terms.html."
In a later email they claimed "we require this proof in our Terms of Service which you agreed to while placing your order." According to the BBB website's Advertising Review of Careers Plus Resumes, Inc., certified correspondence regarding their refund policy was sent on 12-28-2011 and ..."Specifically, the company updated its Order Form and Terms of Use pages to include the 'conditions of use, ' which state in part: "It is assumed that overall satisfaction in our resume writing service is based on actual results/interviews you may obtain by using your new resume. Therefore, if you do not receive any interview offers within 90 days, we will issue a full refund and provide another set of revisions if necessary to ensure satisfaction. To be eligible for a refund, you must send us ten signed and dated pre-interview rejection letters via Certified Mail that you have received from employers after submitting your resume."
When I purchased the services, I was also purchasing the guarantee of a full refund, or at least that is what I thought. I pointed this out to the company and their response was, "...just because the BBB sent certified correspondence on that date does not mean that's the date we updated our Terms. The Terms of Service was updated long before you purchased the service, and before that there was no full refund guarantee at all..." This can't be true. I would never have purchased their services without the guarantee of a full refund. They offered "a free round of revisions/updates to your resume..." which I declined, having already gone through that frustration when I purchased (and not particularly keen on repeating).
I responded, saying "...If you insist on claiming company policy which according to the BBB changed after I purchased your services, then I will submit a complaint with the BBB since I have attempted to rectify the situation with the company." To clarify, I was never notified of a change in their terms.
I received a phone call from a man claiming to be the owner of the company almost immediately. He claimed that the guarantee I was asking to be grandfathered under actually only offered a 25% refund. When I tried to explain again that I had purchased under a different assumption, he began to berate me and yell at me (to the point where my husband could hear him from across the room). He verbally offered a 25% refund, which I declined.
I purchased these services under the guarantee that I would receive a full refund if I didn't have an interview in 3 months. Out of fairness to the company, I continued trying to use this resume for another 3 months, totaling 6 months. I can't provide the rejection letters they're asking for because (1), I didn't know that I had to when I bought it (it was not clearly stated anywhere on the website when I purchased) and (2) companies rarely, if ever send "signed and dated pre-interview rejection letters".
From my experience, I will advise anyone that wants a professionally written resume to not consider using Careers Plus Resumes, Inc because they provide poorly written resume and lack the people skills to work with the client to bring their substandard work up to par. horrible customer service/poor product
-Inquired on Mon Oct 4th whether their services could be provided in the required time by Thurs the 7th, requiring a cover letter and resume to be complete, I was assured that they could thus proceeded with the service. This deadline was crucial as it was only this job I was applying for, as I have a job and wouldn't have used their service otherwise.
-Upon engaging in the service I notified them on several occasions that I had a Thursday deadline, was never notified that this was a problem.
-Received a marginally improved resume draft with spelling errors, convolutions of the truth (which were correct in my initial submission), lacked professional writing with promise that revisions would be sent 'IMMEDIATELY' upon my feedback
-Pointed out mistakes and my concerns hoping for a stronger product & didn't receive 2nd draft until 18 hours later.
- Never received initial one-on-one consultation service. Had to request twice for a call & when received writer was rude, indignant and hostile, didn't inquire about my career or listen, instead told me how it was.
-I sent him the 2nd set of revisions, pointing out misrepresentation still there and asked for advise on how to state it, as it was an unusual situation & I was seeking expert advise. I also reminded him of the deadline that that, which he acknowledged knowing about.
- I never received further correspondence from him again, despite emails and phone calls. My resume revision was easily easily something he could have revised 'immediately' as per their claim, but I never received anything back until I wrote the next day to complain, after my job posting deadline had come and gone.
- Despite knowing that I had a deadline Drew never notified me that he couldn't/wouldn't provide my cover letter or resume review. He left me high and dry and sabotaged my opportunity for this job.
- I had to spend hours writing my own cover letter from scratch as I never got even a draft of that and fixing my resume my self.
-Miraculously upon complaint I received a cover letter from Justin within hours, something which the initial writer, Drew, could have done if he chose to.
-The cover letter I received was not addressed correctly and was a generic, to whom it may concern
-I requested my money back due to the horrible customer service, rudeness, lack of providing a quality product and slowness of delivery.
-Spoke to Justin the owner who was hostile, rude, turned the situation around on me, had me in tears, and said 'immediately' was a vague term so I couldn't expect a 5 minute change to be complete in a day.
-Tried to compromise and meet half way to settle on a 50% refund to settle amicably. He was having non of this. Told me to wait 90 days and if I didn't have an interview I would get a 'partial' refund. Conveniently there is no mention of amount of their website.
-I want this over with, do not want to have to speak to any of them again by re-visiting this 3 months down the road and being upset again.
-This caused me considerable amount of stress waiting all day of my deadline expecting communication and the delivery of my product. I received nothing and had to spend 6 hours writing papers I had paid them to do, feeling upset that I had been so mislead and mistreated by this company who didn't have a modicum of respect or consideration.
- Unfortunately this complaint mirrors many on the internet and the other 27 on BBB.
-They state a 99.9% satisfaction rate on their website which is clearly a falsehood.

People, don't worry! I've been looking for the job for 3 months and it was pointless. But Them I calmed down and tried to think what was wrong. I read my resume and decided to change it. And Happy to me, I've found it and in 5 days I received my CV. Then I applied it to my job, and in three attempts I've got a job.
This company was great to me. I landed a $150K job the next morning after submitting the resume they wrote for me. I would recommend them to anyone.

The service was ok, nothing to write home about. I was dissatisfied with the fact that my resume coach was not certified.
Take the time to verify your Writer against the company that certified them. They all have a website with a search, I found his name an company but certification status was blank.

I didn't do it myself, as I was upset, so I searched on the internet the service like https://craftresumes.com/cover-letter-writing-service/, that could write it instead of me. And Happy to me, I've found it and in 5 days I received my CV. Then I applied it to my job, and in three attempts I've got a job.
What is your complaint?
First you say that your resume coach was "falsely certified." Then you say that the person was not certified.
What is "resume certification?" Isn't it just a way for the company listing the resume writers to get money from those resume writers for listing their names?
Resume certification doesn't mean anything. It isn't anything official.

This is a true story -
I asked them to write a resume for me and submitted my existing resume over to them as reference. The website claimed that they would contact me for one-on-one sessions to work on my resume with their writers. About 4 days later, they contact me with their version of the resume. This so called version - had a fair amount of formatting changes - which I thought were good - and the matter that I had sent them - with wrong graduation/employment dates, typos etc.
I was a little upset but I responded saying that I need help re-wording the sentences and that there are a few typos. To this the writer emails me and says, Have you actually read this resume. I have made changes to it and is nothing like your original one - and, your experience is what it is.. we can't do anything about it...
I was furious, but I kept my calm and pointed out a few more corrections, both grammatical and typos. I then casually asked whether I could see some other formats so I could pick the one I like... to this the writer got furious and chewed me out in his email.. saying its their business to decide whats best for me and that I have chosen them to do the job and I should stick to what they tell me... I got furious and asked them to stop working on my resume and asked for a refund...
about 20 mts later I get a call from them - its the writer, who is not the least bit apologetic... telling me that I was wrong in asking him for other formats... I told him all he had to say was we cannot do that.. thats it.. and that its bad customer service... so he says... I am not here to provide you customer service.. I am a certified resume writer and thats what I do... needless to say the call didnt go well.. he called me names and then hung up... anyway.. the worst part is... I wrote a big letter to AMEX explaining this horrible incident and asking them to get Careers Plus to re-imburse my payments. After 2 months of deliberations they ruled in favour of them... as they couldnt accept my email transcripts as proof... needless to say.. I dont use my amex card anymore...

jokes apart... I am in no way saying that their writers cant get the job done.. i am sure they can do a decent job.. .but they are ### when it comes to treating people with respect...
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My only complaint about this company was the amount of interviews I received. The staff was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Turnaround time was fast, but I did not expect equally as fast results with interviews. Once I distributed my resume on sites such as Indeed, Monster, and ZipRecruiter, it wasn't long before I started getting call backs. I of course was a little leery spending a hundred or so dollars on a resume service and cover letter package, but it paid off in the end. During the interviews I didn't do very well because I was nervous, but the resume helped me overcome certain obstacles which I was struggling to explain during the interview. Other than that, everything was great and I was very satisfied with the results. No other complaints here.

I contacted Career Plus Resumes to reveiw my resume and help me update it as I am seeking a new career. My resume was assigned to ****** ** and I felt he did an excellent job of reformatting and improving my resume so that it was current. I know that I am going to get results with my new resume.
I agree! Terrible company. STAY AWAY! BUYER BEWARE! They are corrupt, rude, aggressive, and will steal your money.
I would not recommend them to anyone who needs a good resume to land a new job.

This company is extremely shady. They just want your money. Don't waste it on them! The unbiased reviews (not on their website, of course) are all true. Every comment on their website has to be approved by the company. They're not going to post the bad ones.
They offer a resume revision; what they mean is they will write an objective statement and reformat your existing resume. They don't actually revise or edit the content. If you ask for a new writer, they won't provide one.
Quick turn around time? Completed and delivered in 24 to 48 hours? Nope. Try 72 hours, and a copy filled with grammar and formatting errors. They have very little attention to detail.
Military? They claim "our service will draw out the key areas of your background that are necessary to be considered for Government jobs or transition out of the Military into a civilian career." Again, what they mean is an objective statement. They have no capabilities or knowledge to actually write a transition resume, nor will they try.
Free career advice and resources? What you get is offered on their website, for free. It has nothing to do with the resume writing services you're buying.
One-on-one consultation? They mean the email you get with the drafts. They never once tried to discuss my goals or even asked if there was a particular job I was aiming for.
And their guarantee?!?! HAHAHAHAHA, what they mean is this: "Therefore, if you do not receive any interview offers within 90 days, we will issue a full refund and provide another set of revisions if necessary to ensure satisfaction. To be eligible for a refund, you must send us ten signed and dated pre-interview rejection letters via Certified Mail that you have received from employers after submitting your resume."
In order to get your money back, you have to provide 10 signed and dated pre-interview rejection letters via Certified Mail. Companies don't provide those.
But they have a reason for this: "The reason we require this is because throughout our history, we have realized that the most effective method in applying for a job is directly instead of through email. This is to ensure that everyone tries very hard to use the resume in the right way to obtain the best possible results...and require this proof to ensure the resume was utilized as suggested. In a lot of cases, job seekers will blindly send emails with resume attachments, and this is the least effective method in applying for jobs..."
Utilized as suggested? They never suggested anything. Certainly not to this effect and certainly never in the "one-on-one" consultation. Blindly send emails? Uh, no. Actually, its called an online application process, usually sent with a cover letter and much more information.
This is a copy of the complaint I filed with the BBB.
I purchased the resume writing service plus the LinkedIn Profile writing and cover letter under the guarantee that I would receive a full refund if I did not land a job interview using the resume they wrote w/in 3 months.
I was contacted by the writer on 12-14-2011 with the first draft. After several revisions, I requested a refund on 12-17-2011 for services not provided (everything except the resume); the request was honored by the company. After using the resume for six months with no interview offers, I contacted the company through email requesting a full refund under their guarantee. Careers Plus Resumes' response was that "you must send us ten signed and dated pre-interview rejection letters via Certified Mail that you have received from employers to help us reduce fraud as stated in our Terms of Service located at http://www.cpresumes.com/terms.html."
In a later email they claimed "we require this proof in our Terms of Service which you agreed to while placing your order." According to the BBB website's Advertising Review of Careers Plus Resumes, Inc., certified correspondence regarding their refund policy was sent on 12-28-2011 and ..."Specifically, the company updated its Order Form and Terms of Use pages to include the 'conditions of use, ' which state in part: "It is assumed that overall satisfaction in our resume writing service is based on actual results/interviews you may obtain by using your new resume. Therefore, if you do not receive any interview offers within 90 days, we will issue a full refund and provide another set of revisions if necessary to ensure satisfaction. To be eligible for a refund, you must send us ten signed and dated pre-interview rejection letters via Certified Mail that you have received from employers after submitting your resume."
When I purchased the services, I was also purchasing the guarantee of a full refund, or at least that is what I thought. I pointed this out to the company and their response was, "...just because the BBB sent certified correspondence on that date does not mean that's the date we updated our Terms. The Terms of Service was updated long before you purchased the service, and before that there was no full refund guarantee at all..." This can't be true. I would never have purchased their services without the guarantee of a full refund. They offered "a free round of revisions/updates to your resume..." which I declined, having already gone through that frustration when I purchased (and not particularly keen on repeating).
I responded, saying "...If you insist on claiming company policy which according to the BBB changed after I purchased your services, then I will submit a complaint with the BBB since I have attempted to rectify the situation with the company." To clarify, I was never notified of a change in their terms.
I received a phone call from a man claiming to be the owner of the company almost immediately. He claimed that the guarantee I was asking to be grandfathered under actually only offered a 25% refund. When I tried to explain again that I had purchased under a different assumption, he began to berate me and yell at me (to the point where my husband could hear him from across the room). He verbally offered a 25% refund, which I declined.
I purchased these services under the guarantee that I would receive a full refund if I didn't have an interview in 3 months. Out of fairness to the company, I continued trying to use this resume for another 3 months, totaling 6 months. I can't provide the rejection letters they're asking for because (1), I didn't know that I had to when I bought it (it was not clearly stated anywhere on the website when I purchased) and (2) companies rarely, if ever send "signed and dated pre-interview rejection letters".
