There were three unauthorized transfers from our bank account (Cathay Bank) to another account. On March 4, 2024, $2540.00 was transferred to a Chime Bank account. On March 5, 2024, $3,100.00 was transferred. And on March 6, 2024, $3,250.00 was transferred again. When I applied for an External Transfer Dispute Investigation on March 07 2004, Cathay Bank never responded, when my wife went to the bank asked for an answare on March 26, 2024, they responded that the transaction was confirmed using my email. They said funds were sent by External Transfer to the recipient indicated above and the transaction(s) was authorized by my email address on file. They also said the user profile had not been changed since creation of the account. In their report, they also claimed transactions were conducted by a known device that had been registered with the Cathay Bank network prior to the reported dispute. Therefore, Cathay Bank reported that they have determined that an error did not occur, as the transaction was authorized by a registered device. With these points, they denied my claim and closed the investigation without looking further into the matter. While all of these points they cannot definitely prove that these transactions were authorized and accuse me of making these transactions myself. Additionally, they did not consider that someone had used my identity to open a Chime Bank account, and I further informed them that my identity had been stolen and my social security number was leaked. They accepted this information and said they will tell their Fraud Department, but there was no subsequent contact with me or my lawyer regarding this issue. I requested Cathay Bank to connect Chime Bank to verify this is fraud activity. We reported this issue to the police and sought out a lawyer, who wrote a letter to the bank. However, after investigating this issue, the bank refused to refund the money on April 02 2024 (from CFPB website). I gave them all information regarding this fraud activity, such as the police report and any important information that may help with the investigation. I also called Chime Bank four times, where it was already verified that the account that was made under my name was a fraud account, but they weren't able to assist me further when I requested for the money in the unauthorized transactions to be transferred back to my original account. Each time I tried to find help, they directed me to Cathay Bank to ask for my money back. However, I have also called and visited Cathay Bank multiple times, and they have not assisted in getting back my money in any way. There are many evidences to prove those 3 transactions are unauthorized and unconfirmed. So I hired an Attorney to handle this case on April 09, 2024.
Claimed loss: $8890
Desired outcome: Refund all of our money.
