Seven West Media / Channel 7 brian taylor's comments

I would like to object strongly to brian taylor's observation on last night's (Thursday 29th may) football broadcast that 53, 000 people at the scg was an endorsement for thursday night football. It is ok for brian, and all the other commentators (I have heard eddie maguire make the same ludicrous statement in the past). They do not have to get up and go to work at 5am the next day. Also, have they considered the impact this stupid scheduling has on families with school aged children? I have an 8 and 5 year old that I would love to take to the football. I support carlton, and we have three games out of 22 this year which are played at a time that I can conveniently take them. I cannot take them on a thursday or sunday night, get home at 10.30pm, and expect them to go to school the next day ready to learn. And I would also dispute this observation that a good crowd on a thursday night is a "tick" for the time slot. If the game was played on a sunday afternoon it would have drawn the same crowd. If people want to see games they have no choice but to go at the crazy times they are scheduled.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 over charged for entry

I am disgusted after entering channel' sevens TV show HouseRules Win $250k once on Monday night I then began receiving txt msg from the company thanking me for my entry and that I was in the draw. This went on all night and I decided at 12:40am to turn my phone off. In the morning when I turned my phone back on I was then alerted to another message that said I had spent $60 on the same promotion. How can this be when I only entered once. Not happy at all.

I think your complaint is necessary for the house rules contest, I am concerned also about the last episode regarding Candy and Ryan, as a fellow West Aussie with Carol and Russell negotiating a reasonable event between the two parties, going back on their word. I feel humiliated as a old school, that the given word is as good as pen and scholar. They have disrespected the West Australian and should be ashamed. And Candy and Ryan should be given the fair gift of them all for honoring the agreement. Well done Candy to stand up the old girl in the face, when she disregarded her first attempt of bullying. I loved Carol and Russell up to this point, Well done young lass.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 lack of punctuality!

Channel 7 has some great series/shows but it is horrible at being punctual! Someone really need to change the clocks at channel 7 or have less commercials or do something about it as movies are often shown 5-15 mintues late! This is so annoying.

Other channels seem to be doing a great job trying to keep to the allocated time slot.. So why can't channel 7?

So excited and disappointed last week, excited because "How to get away with Murder" was returning for season 2.
Sorry don't know her name but the lead actress just won an Emmy award. Then to discover that the time lot for this show was 10.45pm, after " What happens in Thailand stays there. Not happy Helen Klein

I also have a problem with your timing of programs not being on time and as a shift worker I RECORD shows that I like to see later but it always is cut short because of programs over lapping and I am sure I not the only one .

I totally agree that Channel 7 have no regard for its customers. What an insult to viewers and Australian drama - A Place to Call Home, that it is not only relegated to 9.30 pm on a Sunday night but to add insult to injury we are still only part the way through SN at 9.45pm waiting for A Place to Call Home. Channel 7 makes a habit of running at least 15 /20 mins late. They also then run the credits so fast at the end and often below the next program in micro text. Again an insult to the artists in great dramas, which sadly seem it run on a channel with no ethics! Oh at last! 9.48 pm and A Place to Call home has started !,

Couldn't agree more. On Sunday evening, 23 February, the return of Downton Abbey was advertised as 8.40 pm. This was delayed by at least 10 minutes as we watched the wrap up of the INXS interviews and then Chris Bath announcing the raid on Channel 7 offices by the FPA in the previous week. At one time you could set your clock byTV programming - no longer. Also, why are shows programmed to start at 40 past the hour these days? At one time it was always on the hour or half hour.

It's pathetic how they can't keep to schedule. I have been away for 3 weeks travelling, and recorded Wild Planet with HALF an HOUR leeway on the recording. Not one program was recorded in full once I had fast forwarded through an hour of a programme I hadn't asked to record. Seriously, do they really think in this day and age that viewers will stick to one channel and stay with it the whole evening, or never have a holiday?!? Yes, I appreciate they need audience share...well showing respect to your viewers is highly effective, pissing them off with semi-recorded programmes is not...

I was enjoying the midday movie today when the screen went black for nearly 10 minutes. When the channel was up and running again I was annoyed to find that movie was not on. There was just over half an hour left of it but instead a performance on the American Today show was on and once that was over Border Security started. What happened to the movie? I hope it will be replayed tomorrow since we didn't get to see it all.

Today, House Rules encore ? The other day some abbey show? Why do we have to watch the same day and night. Give us a break . What's happened to midday movie, Sunday night Movies?Yes and if we are blessed with a MOVIE it's either the 10th rerun or one that has been pulled out of the trash. I normally put on ABC 24 news at least it is watchable.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 poor reception

My email address is [protected]@bossqs.com.au
I am one of many people suffering from interference of Channel 7 reception. I rarely put up with even looking at the channel because of this. There are many good programs that I am missing because of this, especially some sports programs like car racing for instance. I keep giving it a go but end up moving to another channel or turning off the TV.
I saw another comment on the computer that said that someone in the Melbourne area had the same problem. Is it the band that you have been lumbered with causing this problem and if so what can I do to overcome this problem.
It is quite noticeable that not many suppliers or any type have an easy method of direct complaints communication, it appears that consumer problems are avoided as much as possible by most suppliers.
I look forward to some response to this matter. Keith Cashman

I Live on the sunshine coast. My Mum and I had the same issue with channel 7 and other channels. We were trying to watch the mole and the interference got that bad that we now have a black screen with the asmessage. Failed to receive broadcast. I thought that digital tv's were not supposed to have this problem. So what is going on? Maybe we need to bring back the old analogue telly's. We never used to have this problem before digital came in. My email address is tiny-44@hotmail.com.

I live in Perth and have the same issue with Channel 7. Wasted money on a TV tech attending and checking everything out and then advising that it is some sort of interference that he has no idea of what it is. REALLY annoyed as the V8 supercars which I watch religiously is no longer a 'show' in our household because Channel 7 reception sucks! By the way I am not living out in the sticks either. My area is considered CBD!

Seven West Media / Channel 7 spice girls are cheating!!!

I understand that channel seven are loving the controversy hanging over the spice girls on mkr but honestly, they have openly admitted cheating and in my opinion it destroys the integrity of the show. The definition of cheating is" to do something knowingly immoral to gain an unfair advantage" and that's exactly what these girls have done. To uphold the shows reputation and prove to everyone that the show is about brilliant cooking more then cheap controversy, channel seven should disqualify the spice girls even though they no doubt will get evicted later this week. Infanct if you really love the controversy and we know you do, i'm sure disqualifying the spice girls will give you even more exposure, make the public happy and allow the show to keep the integrity it deserves. There are indian and bangladeshi citizen voicing there disgust all over facebook which shows these girls have no support and I can only hope that channel seven act appropriately.

Yours sincerely,
Tom jennings.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 australian open commentary

I am appalled at the comments made by the commentators (particularly the male commentators) in referencing players' relationships, generally female players.
It seems that is the most important or only thing that they can think of to talk about before, during and after matches. With the male players they are more focused on techniques, training, statistics and injuries while these get only brief mention when the commentators are discussing a female athlete. In this situation the commentators seem to prefer discussing the athlete's relationship status, especially those players who are currently in relationships with other high profile athletes or celebrities.
While I don't mind this being brought up on occasion, it has been repeatedly mentioned for several female athletes, throughout the Brisbane International, Sydney APIA International and now the Australian Open as well, often several times during a single match.

Watching the Tomic match right now and oh no, Bruce McAvany is so annoying yet again this year. I wish he would just keep quiet and let Jim Courier take over the show. Even Courier is cringing at some of Bruce's questions and comments...like he's thinking "how did they let this guy on here with me again this year?".

Bruce, you may be able to call the races or AFL but please don't pretend you know anything about tennis, because it's embarassing to listen to and I would prefer someone who knows the game a little better and doesn't just ramble stats to fill the space. No insight whatsover into the match being covered.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 commentary on afl

Further disgraceful commentary on Channel 7's AFL coverage of the Hawthorn vs. Western Bulldogs game.

Tim Watson seems to be able to comment on nothing but Hawthorn and how wonderful they are, without making a single comment about the Western Bulldogs. While it was obvious Hawthorn were the better team, Tim was utterly incapable of making a single positive contribution to a team that has improved enormously since the past few weeks. Also unable to make a negative comment about the precious Hawks when they made mistakes! Completely and utterly bored of listening to Tim's voice.

Channel 7 should simply not be allowed to commentate on football games if they are unable to be unbiased. Uttertly disgraceful.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 'swearing' discussion on morning show

I have just been watching channel 7 - 10 am 15/6/2001 - when 'swearing' was discussed. The presenters concluded that this unpleasant increasing habit was OK . It is never OK. It is a reflection of the person speaking inappropriately and shows them to be in need of manners and respect for those around them. How they feel is the business of no one else and no one should not have to put up with offensive emotional outbursts or as it is now used in common speech.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 football commentary

the commentary team @ Etihad stadium for the Richmond v WCE today were a disgrace, how dare they barrack & push WCE game ahead of the opposition there were 2 teams out there today, Dennis Cometti was so pro WCE the only thing he missed was his Eagle scarf & his weak little followers Bruce McAvaney & Tim Watson cannot even make independent assessments it was pathetic, I was so angry by the end of the game, & don't know if they realised there were more players on the ground than Daniel Kerr. Eagles were bigger stronger than the Tigers which in the end was probably why they won, we can accept losing but you go back & listen to these ###s & see how one sided they were, IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE.
They don't deserve to be broadcasting if they cannot do it without bias

If jube Watson is an expert comments person send him to toast masters to teach him not to say so many ums and aahs. It sounds ridiculous. I also. Agree about Friday night commentators, Wayne Carey is hopeless and the team are to busy carrying on with bull dust and missing the game. Also Bruce with stupid comments about a player has nice legs, or fluffy rain. He's been on to long. Give him his watch.

Just watching the derby - Freo v Eagles - you would think only the Eagles were playing. All negative comments about Freo, they were even joking during a Freo goal instead of commentating. Who do they think they are? Why can't they commentate a match in an unbiased way? Isn't that their job/profession that they are paid for. I for one hate having to watch Channel 7 and listen to the commentators who can't see beyond their own importance and seem to insist on putting their own personal preferences into the commentry. No on is interested in the team they would prefer to win. Get it Channel 7 ?

Seven West Media / Channel 7 too many add breaks

Channel 7... You are a joke. You stated that when you took the rights from channel 10 for the V8 Supercars that you would show every race live. That lasted for 4 races.. The football is more important to you. What about the people who want to watch car racing and not bloody football. V8 are on once a fortnight and football on 6-7 times a week. Sometimes you show 1 hour of racing then go to the football for 3-4 hrs then back to the racing after that once the results have been posted by everyone. But in that 2nd telecast of racing there is more commercials showing than racing as you have to make up for the LACK of them during the football. All you think about is money and not customer satisfaction. You have ruined every sporting telecast you have ever shown or taken from another station just to gain more MONEY.
I will be pursuing this matter further if i don't receive a response back as i have the rights to receive one. I don't know what happened to Channel 7 but your customer service has fallen of the edge of the cliff you just don't care anymore.
VERY DISSAPOINTING.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 today tonight

Today Tonight promoted itself with a shock report on Romanians preying on "us" for our mobile phones, assaulting people in the streets and stealing identities. This is the most overt and mindless vilification of an ethnic group that I've seen and I call into question the legality of such baseless, inflammatory claims.

Is there nothing left of the ongoing refugee "crisis" for TT to rehash, reheat and try to make a story with?

Channel 7 boasts about being the home of the AFL, When are you going to show a game? Yesterday, being Saturday, NOT one game was played on 7!
Am over your lies. Your show on every night showed one of my sons friends being the bad guy but, you did not follow up to show everyone he was exonerated in court and they gave you a bad name for being the instigater of almost a riot. Go figure. Have submitted this also to fair trading to see if you breach your ads saying 7 is the home of the AFL ad don't show any games.

Years after the original post I find myself sitting here on a Friday night turning the volume off so I do not have to listen to Bruce. After commentating for so long you would think he would have his own opinion of the game, instead he constantly relies on verification of his statements by the senior commentators. To the point he will repeat a comment / statement until someone ratifies it. Geez he is annoying.

How on earth did the Age Green Guide earlier in 2012 announce that they had placed Bruce Mcavaney as No. 1 commentator after a survey that they say was conducted? Trouble was, soon after this, some fool at channel 7 actually started putting his name at the top of the commentators list over Denis Commetti and others. This has just made a joke of the game as all Bruce seems capable of is constantly searching for an agreement to what ever comment he has just made. For example, isn't it, wasn't he / it, or arn't they and so on in that vein ad nauseum. The man knows very little about the game itself, and mostly resorts to endless and often meaningless statistics, and overdone and tiresome cliches that are peculiar to himself and his method of commentating.
I suggest a test that will prove my point. A full quarter of a selected games comments by all the commentators should be written in print only, and a panel of us earbashed public are then asked to link the commentary to a name, and then rated in order as the most informative and descriptive, and which commentary is the worst. Anyone would soon see where the public stands re Bruce Mcavaney. Please spare us any more Bruce. Johnboy

Seven West Media / Channel 7 inappropriate timing of ads

I am outraged!

This evening between the times of 7-7.30pm there were several viewings of the upcoming program Teen Wolf.
Anybody with children know that most young children go to bed between 7-7.30pm and that sitting down as a family in front of the TV is a common practice before bed.

The commercial shows flashes of a young boy looking in the direction of a rustling noise in the woods which turns out to be this vicious creature - wolf with evil eyes and teeth that leaps out and attacks him.
He is then terrified as he grows these disgusting claws whilst taking a shower, and from there throughout there are dark hunting scenes in the woods, and other scenes that follow this with less magnitude.
Overall it has a sense of horror and scare.
Appropriate for the series I'm sure -
NOT appropriate for a 4yr old or 1 yr olds viewing before bedtime.

For the 1st time tonight my 4yr old daughter was frightened in bed.

GOOD ONE 7 mate! You must have some highly uneducated people working there!

Consider, that 7pm is a time when small children may still be in view of TV ... full stop... what ever your circumstances & choices are. Even the TV stations themselves believe this and rate this time of night "PG VIEWING" you twit!
These enterprises have amoral, ethical & legal codes to uphold - End of story!
They make millions of dollars from this industry, they can afford to oblige and should be made to.
Seriously, what drugs are you people on...
You make suggestions of what you think would be better parenting, as idealistic as they are, and yet you lack the basic number one rule... maybe Mummy & Daddy didn't teach you, or perhaps you are just incredibly ignorant, that you can't seem to grasp the concept of being respectful of other peoples opinions and practices.
Television stations need to air programs at appropriate times, given their content... this program doesn't view until later in the evening because of its "Official Rating" - so why are the lengthy advertisements allowed at a time of night which is deemed to be a PG RATED time of night?!
Again - social spastics - go away!

What kind of people can post such language and yet call someone else a hypocrite? What a joke that is... get a life people.

And remember the old saying 'those who live in glass houses should NOT throw stones'!? This is a complaint forum for people who want to vent about being ripped off by a fly by night company, not a sounding board for lowlifes who have nothing better to do than rip others apart with foul language and anger issues. Grow up people!

If you were sitting down as a family in front of the TV with your children, why didn't you change the channel instead of watching the whole commercial and forcing your children to watch it too and then get frightened?

You forced your children to watch several viewings of this commercial and did not bother to change the channel once.

You are supposed to be the adult responsible for what you let your children watch.

4yr old or 1 yr olds should not be watching television right before they go to bed.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 tennis coverage (captioning)

The tennis on Channel 7 has no subtitles / captioning which is unfair for all Deaf people in Australia and those who are hearing impaired and rely on captioning. As the tennis is watched by hundreds and thousands of people in Australia it can be said that many Deaf people have a right to also have captioning even if just for the Australian players matches.

Or maybe we should make it fair for all Australians - have no audio at all!

Seven West Media / Channel 7 v8 supercars

why can channel 7 keep the rights to the V8 supercars when the station is unreliable. first alot of the races get split in half by an afl game because they conflict and afl always come first which is a joke considering they took the afl rights from channel 10 and then done the same with the supercars only to then stuff the viewers around! The reception in my area is bad enough when trying to watch the races on 7 and then to find todays races are on 7mate of which we cant even get reception here! If they cant keep the v8s on one channel at the time of the race then give them back to channel 10. Its getting beyond a joke!

Seven West Media / Channel 7 bad reception

We are supposed to be going to digital tv however you cannot get through one complete show on channel 7 without it having a bad signal. We have a new tv and therefore no need for a top box but find ourselves putting it back to analogue to watch a show. Unfortunately that means we don't get 7 mate which has some great shows. I love watching Australias Got talent and find it very frustrating to be having this problem every week.

the tennis on 7 is useless - keeps stopping and breaking up. I live in Noosa, Qld and had visitors from NSW, one lot from the Central Coast and the other from the North Shore, NSW, both were complaining about the 7 reception. What is happening since the analogue finished? How is it, that both States are having trouble with reception, is Channel 7 going to do something about it?
