Chase Chase Bank Review: Horrific Customer Service and Incompetence with Fraudulent Transactions and Crypto

I'm not even sure where to begin with my experience with Chase. Let me start by saying that I've been a customer for over two years, but that didn't seem to matter when I had 32 fraudulent transactions on my checking account. I wasn't able to recognize all of these withdrawals until later due to personal reasons, but the fact that Chase didn't flag any of them is concerning. It took me hours to finally get ahold of a representative and tell them that this was fraud and to fix it. The fraud was from kucoin and they didn't have any answers as to why they didn't flag it.

After this situation was over, a few days went by and I tried to go onto my online banking. It said I was locked due to suspicious activity. I tried to take money out of my account at Chase and it wouldn't let me. I tried to buy something online to see if it worked and it denied the transaction. I called Chase and waited for one hour for someone to talk to me. The woman said they blocked my account because there was a $200 transaction from crypto. Why would they block one $200 transaction and not flag 32 withdrawals?! The woman said they block all crypto and did not need my consent. If I wanted to use my Chase card with crypto, I had to write them a letter. The woman asked my name and asked me to verify my identity. She said my number on file wasn't a number they could send a verification code to? When I asked her why, she said it's unknown. My phone number has been on there forever. I gave her my husband's number and she said the same. I asked her why I wasn't allowed to see my money on my online banking and why I couldn't use my debit card or take money out. She called me a liar when I told her that I physically went to a Chase bank to withdraw my money. She said it was not possible. I told her I was going to close my account and she replied, "Well, I do not need to help you fix your online banking." I nearly lost it. I told her I'm still a member of the bank and I want her to fix my online banking so I can view my money and for her to unblock my account. She asked me three verification questions and was so demeaning and rude the way she was speaking to me. She battled everything I said. There was a trick question where the answer was none. She tried to confuse me. She asked where I once lived and what address was associated with it. I answered and she told me to hold on and she hung up on me! The first thing I said when we began our conversation is to take my cell down in case we lose connection. Well, she didn't call my number. I called again and this time I was just crying, frustrated, and worn out. After fifty minutes, I'm on with another rep. I was calm and told him in a nutshell how this woman treated me and how after all this, I didn't resolve anything before she hung up. He did the exact thing with the questions to unlock my card or online banking? There was a two-second pause and I asked, "Hello?" He told me, "Mama please, I will not hang up on you." I said thank you, I'm traumatized. Two seconds later, he hung up on me!

Chase is the most rude and awful bank. It's chilling. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. Their rules are so backwards. The CEO of Chase openly hates crypto, so when they see it on your account, they block you from using your debit card, lock your online banking, and make it impossible to reach a rep when they themselves are the worst by not helping me do something that they did wrong! It was not fraud, it was my conscious transaction, and they took everything from me. I went to a Chase local branch and could not take out my money because my account is "fraud" and was told to call customer service so they can unlock it. How can I do that when they keep hanging up on me? If you don't want to cry your brains out of pure frustration and have no control of your funds, not be able to see where your money is, deal with incompetence, and be told you're a liar, DO NOT BANK WITH CHASE! If you dabble with crypto, FORGET IT, they will do this to you too. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. I am not a dramatic person, but when someone takes full control of my money and thinks I'm the person who is fraud on my own account and does not give me options to prove who I am, it's one jab after another. And finally, when they ask some verification questions, they hang up on you! And NOTHING was solved. My online banking is still blocked. My debit card is frozen. I have no money. Run away. They will screw you over and not care. Oh, and I'm pretty sure they flagged my account, and I have reason to believe they hang up on purpose because I'm angry. When I called the number again, it took me to another place, and it wasn't Chase customer service. Then I used my husband's phone and called that same service, and his call went through. So I'm currently on my phone writing this review, waiting for at least 45 minutes already on my husband's phone to probably get hung up again.

Chase Frustrating Experience with Chase Bank: Delayed Cards, Suspicious Activity Lock, and Check Hold

So, me and my boyfriend decided to leave Truist Bank and Wells Fargo to get a joint account at Chase Bank. We also got a college checking account for myself. We had to go into the branch to get the joint account, but it was a smooth process. However, we expected our cards to arrive within 3-5 business days, but after 7 days, we still hadn't received them. When we went to the branch to get cash, we found out that our cards hadn't even been made yet. This was frustrating, but it gets worse.

We decided to transfer our money back to Truist and Wells Fargo using Zelle, but this triggered a lock on both of our accounts due to suspicious activity. We tried calling customer service, but it took multiple attempts and long wait times to get through. We were told to call the branch, but they couldn't unlock it either. We finally got through to the technology line, who were able to unlock it for us.

During all of this, we still hadn't received our cards in the mail. We tried setting up Apple Pay, but it wouldn't connect to our cards. We called the branch, who said they were aware of the issue, but didn't tell us that the cards needed to be activated first. It took over two weeks for our cards to arrive, and we finally figured out that we needed to activate them before connecting to Apple Pay.

To make matters worse, when I deposited a paper check at an ATM, it said there was a hold on it for ten days. I called the branch, who couldn't give me a clear answer, but the second branch I called said it was because my account was younger than 35 days and they needed to verify the check. I've never had this issue before with other banks, and it's causing a lot of frustration.

Overall, I've had nothing but problems with Chase Bank since opening my accounts. As soon as this check deposits, I'm taking our money out, closing the accounts, and going to a different bank.
