I called Chicago Roofing Services cuz my roof started leakin' after a snow storm
I called Chicago Roofing Services cuz my roof started leakin' after a snow storm. The boss sent out a fixin' crew who took pitchers of the damage and explained real good what needed to be done to fix it. The company kept me in the loop the whole time they was fixin' it. I wouldn't think twice 'bout callin' 'em again in the future.
Have a leek?
Have a leek? Go somewhere else. Seriously, anywhere else. We paid this place ~$2500 to fix a ceiling leek only to have the leek become worse and eventually pay another company to fix not only the original leek but also this place's mistake. I am not sure if this company is just really bad at their job or a scam - maybe both? Regardless, *** THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK. My opinion: RUN AWAY, *** AWAY -- Find a different place! Find a place with guaranteed work too. This place isn't it. I do not expect resolution from this business as they have obviously ghosted us, but I do feel everyone should be aware of our bad experience with them. For anyone who wants specifics: Earlier this year, we developed a ceiling leek on the first floor of a two-story flat in the back, master bedroom (no leek on the second floor), especially after the major snow in February. The leek was filling a gallon bucket every ~3-4 hours. We called this company to fix this leek. After a week or two, they came out and assessed the problem. During this initial visit, no one wanted to come inside and take a look at the actual leek, which we assumed was due to *** policies. Instead, the company assessed the outside of the house and said that our ceiling leek was due to improper gutters that filled up quickly and caused water overflow onto the side of the back wall, into our bedroom. This made perfect sense. A week or two later, we got new gutters and paid them for their service.Fast forward a week or two -- it finally rains and rains hard. 15 minutes into the rain I start to hear the rapid dripping at the back of the house, near the master bedroom. The leek was back! Not only was the leek back, but it was now coming down at a faster rate than before. What was once a gallon bucket being filled became one of those 3ft tall plastic, round trash cans. It was obvious the leek was worse. The ceiling was cracking. Due to the fact that this was in the evening, we waited until the next day to call. No one answered so my other half left a message. This went on for a few days -- call, leave a message -- he didn't get a callback. Frustrated, I decided to call the company myself and finally someone picked up. I explained that the leek wasn't fixed and they said that they would have someone come out and look at it again.Well, they came out. Quite a few times. They kept telling us, after each visit that they knew what the problem was, they would send us a quote (so yes, we would have to pay them more?!). This went on for over a month. No quote was ever given. Many unanswered voicemails were left -- it took many calls in a row to reach a person. After their last visit, I finally gave up and called another company. This company came out, told us we needed the back wall fixed, new siding, AND we needed to fix our gutters (not knowing yet we just got new gutters). This is where the situation got even more frustrating -- the new company told us the gutters were too high above the roofline, causing water to pool at the gutter-roof line, which was making the leek worse. The leaf guards were also not helping.I called Chicago Roofing Services back. I told them this to which the owner told me that the gutters were not aluminum, but galvanized, so they would have to remove part of the roof to put the gutters below the roofline. I found this sadly amusing as when I went back through my initial invoice, it SPECIFICALLY stated aluminum gutters were installed (which the new company confirmed when I asked). Also, due to some miscommunication between ***'s son and my other half, we decided to set up a conference call to rectify everything. We called for a week+ straight, we left more voicemails, I also emailed. To this day, they have *** returned our calls/emails. We were ghosted. I mean, they got their money. They won't refund. So what does an unhappy customer matter to them if they already have their money? Also worth noting, the second company came inside (keeping with *** safety protocols), assessed the actual leek, took measurements, and importantly fixed the leek with only ONE visit (I specifically waited to write this review after the first heavy rain following the second company's fix. That was last night and I am happy to report that after 3-4 months we are finally dry!). OH. The second company also cost us less to fix Chicago Roofing Service's bad job + fix the back wall and siding. They also guaranteed their work.So if you got this far in the review it's up to you to hire them; however, if you want my opinion hiring them will only lead you to disappointment, frustration, a waterfall in your house, and potentially a future mold problem that will cost you even more money."

I paid a premum price to re-roof my home
I paid a premum price to re-roof my home. It included a ridge vent. That vent has now become clogged with seeds and will require cleaning regularly. This is not acceptable and it must be replaced. The previous ridge vent performed flawlessly for 15 years and required no cleaning.. I feel that I have been scammed by paying a premium price for a poorly designed product. Power Home Remodelling refuses to replace it.
After we paid $30,000 for our roof, we found a shingle in our gangway
After we paid $30,000 for our roof, we found a shingle in our gangway. We called ***, and after they supposedly sent someone out, he said the shingle wasn't from our roof. We stupidly believed him. When we noticed water coming into our newborn daughter's room upstairs, we sent another contractor to the roof, and he took pictures of this company's bad work. First, they didn't even bother to shingle one side of our dormer, something we wouldn't have known if someone hadn't checked it. On the other side of the dormer, shingles were falling off. And as you can see in the photos, these guys used the old flashing around the chimney. The caulking is bad, and they bent the flashing while putting it in. When we tried to get them to fix these issues, they just gave us excuses. When I mentioned filing a complaint, *** said he didn't care at all.
We hired this company to do $3,150.00 of work on our flat roof
We hired this company to do $3,150.00 of work on our flat roof. Our first concern was the payment. The owner wanted us to use Chase's online payment service, Zelle. The transaction didn't go through. We tried to pay with a check instead, and they cashed it right away. I called my bank to find out what went wrong. The customer service person told me my account was locked and I had to go to a branch to fix it. At the branch, they said I didn't do anything wrong, the problem was with the person I was paying. Corky Ely, the owner's son, got flagged by Chase. We told the owner, Bob, about it, but he didn't seem to care. My husband and I were suspicious of the company and the work they claimed to have done, so we hired an independent inspector. We don't have access to the roof, and even if we did, we're not roofing experts. The inspectors were shocked at how much we paid and they found three problems: 1.) the patches were done poorly, 2.) the flashing was already coming off (less than two weeks later), and 3.) we were charged for four vents, but there were only two. I sent the report to the owner and asked for a refund because we'll have to hire someone else to fix their mistakes. He offered to send someone to fix it because "everyone makes mistakes." Why would I want them to come back? I want my money back.
