01/16/2018, Claim # [protected], Choice Home Warranty
This warranty is a complete scam. They took forever to send out a technician even though our heating system was out and the inside of the house was in the 50's. The technician was told what part to order, but he ordered the wrong part and didn't bother overnighting the part to fix the unit. We used a different HVAC company who could get the part the next day, and then we were told that the part wasn't covered. This warranty does not cover the most expensive or most likely to fail items. A complete scam.

STOP SENDING UNWANTED SPAM EMAILS. I am on the national do not call/email list. I have received two emails a day from you stupid people for over a year. When I purchased my warranty I was assured it covered all major home appliances. My upright Freezer stopped working and I called to request service. I was informed that the freezer was not covered and that would be a $35 extra charge and would not cover current problem. At the time of purchase I was only told that my roof was not covered under the base policy and an additional charge of $50 would cover that. I opted not to. Since when is a freezer not a major appliance and why was I not given the option of coverage? THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM OPERATION.
heating repair
I am so dissatisfied with your service. I had no heat and called for repair. You sent Tech out and he diagnosed. Needed a new board. He was going to put rush on since we had no heat. Two days no news. He then called me back after my calling and told me Choice had to send me part due to 45 dollar difference. Finally after multiple calls I got a supervisor who played it. This is now 2 day with no heat and it was 17 degrees here in Cleveland. 2 days later I started having the same thing. There's would go on and then off and not run thru cycle. Called you guys and you couldn't reach All In Mechanical so sent to Bay Heating. Bay contacted me and said they were not allowed to repair and to just give 2nd opinion. They were not happy with this either. I contacted All In Mechanical and he said it sounded like thermostat. Change batteries and see what happens. So I did this and it still shuts off at times but not as often. All in Medical said I needed to contact you again. I stayed on hold 20 minutes and then got disconnected. I want my account cance
lled land this issue resolved. I do not want any further charges.

A SCAM! BUYER BEWARE! I signed up for choice home warranty. I had an issue with my dryer. It was not getting hot. I have been waiting now 4 weeks and still no appointment for someone to come out and look at it. I CALL EVERYDAY.. All, I hear is I am sorry.. I will have someone call you tomorrow. They give you the run around...They are a scam...No one calls and no one can schedule an appointment... I am also going to look into an attorney as they cannot provide the services you paid for.
emails
I have received at least two email ads per day for the last few months from you. Each time I get one, I unsubscribe. But I continue to get them. I get too many advertisements from businesses and most of them take me off their list when I unsubscribe. PLEASE do the same. I am tired of wasting time unsubscribing and then deleting your ads! I am not looking for home warranty services and would greatly appreciate being removed from your email list. Thank you.
One more problem. I am attempting to send a complaint and this site is requiring me to register and login. Why do I have to do that?
You have really poor business practices.
over charging
Signed up on the 11th of Dec. Had issues with my water heater the 23rd, called in a claim, they didn't bother to call me back to let me know my claim was going NOWHERE called 2 days later "oh its been closed too early to use" so then they offered to up my start date, thought that would help received an email, cant find anyone but you can, so i did cost me $200. called to cancel the contract they charged me the $50 Cancellation fee as well as $50 for "using them" hello they told me to find someone myself. All They do is STEAL your [protected]@! run away they ARE SCAMMERS!
continued unwanted advertising emails
Over the past several months I have been bombarded with unwanted e-mails. I have unsubscribed dozens of times but they keep sending then. I get on average over 10 e-mails from them daily..
I have called the company on 28Nov17 and talked to 2 agents re my complaint. One of the agents actually told me "well if you sign up with us, you not get any more e-mails. I then communicated with Tracy via [protected]@homewarranty.com she told me she would contact the I.T. department to get my e-mail address removed from their server-that did not resolve the problem and I kept getting bombarded with harassing e-mails.
She then stopped responding to my e-mails after I told her that if some one unsubscribed, opted out or let it be know that they don't want those e-mails, the company is required to honor that request. I still get them to this date...I have retained e-mails, unsubscribed information- and advertising e-mails from this company...
heater repair
My furnace went out in October and it was under 30 degrees outside. After waiting 2 days for an "evaluator" to look at my furnace, I was then told a repairman could be here in 6 DAYS. The house was freezing. Told to contact my own serviceman and submit his cost for reimbursement, I am now being told that Choice will reimburse less than half of my out of pocket expenses. This company is fraudulent and unprofessional. Don't waste your money!
failure to remove my email address to stop spam emails
I have requested that the company remove me e-mail address from their server due to being bombarded daily by their advertising e-mails.
I have unsubscribed dozens of times, called the company, sent them e-mails to have them stop sending me these unwanted e-mails.
I usually get close to 20 of the e-mails daily. I was promised that they would contact their I.T. department to remove my e-mail address from their server.I still keep getting there unwanted and annoying e-mails.
I have got absolutely not received any help from this company to resolve the problem.
Help
I get the same emails, and have also unsubscribed, and called their office to have deleted with no luck.
I get about 75 to 100 emails a day of which at least two (2) or more emails are from Choice Home Warranty. I have opted out and/or unsubscribed to each email I've gotten, called their offices numerous times and given my email address and indicated that I already had coverage and requested that they remove me from their email list. This has been going on for months with no signs of slowing down. I have begun to save their emails and intend to report them to the BBB and hope it does have to go beyond that.
septic system cleaning and repair
I bought choice home warranty with a septic system addition. It was to cover any and all repairs on the septic system as well as a clean out, emptying' once a year.
I called to have the system cleaned out before moving. The company sent to service the system said it would cost me $400 out of my pocket because the only thing Choice Home warranty will cover would actually pay for emptying it, not digging up the connection and a ton of other things.. This was a straight out lie by the company because I asked all these questions before buying a SIX YEAR POLICY.

This company has closed claims even when they did not fix.. they denied claims for wrong reasons.. they are not nice and have hung up on me... I am looking for a way to get them to fix things or give me back all my money... choice has told me they can not get people to come to my location but I call and someone will come but not at their low rate.. some tell me they will not work for them because thy take to long to pay or only pay at a lower rate.. Choice does not pay fair money back.
**** Buyer Beware. Current customer in Houston, Texas*****
I'm very disappointed in this company. Before i get started, let me say I tried to ignore the reviews that claim Choice Home Warranty (CHW) does what it can to deny claims, but I should have listened to the voice of the people.
My water heater recently recently gave out on 12/28/17, and on 1/09/18 CHW finally decides to review my claim;only to deny it after all the misery they put me through -- long wait times on holds and the lack of communication between CHW and the plumbing company. The final decision giving, was reason code "disconnected part" which means nothing, but I guess it's enough for CHW to deny my claim. After speaking with a credible source, who does service calls for CHW, it's my understanding that CHW will do anything not to pay you for your big ticket items. I'm glad my warranty expires on Jan 28, 2018 and it was only a water heater and not my AC. I'm also glad I did not add my other property and my parents home.
Furthermore, three other claims were denied. Save your money and find a better warranty company to use. I was told American Home Shield, One Guard HW, and Home warranty of America are good companies to look into.
I was told that my policy couldn't be utilized in the first thirty days to ensure it wasn't a pre-existing condition. Two months after I paid for the coverage my heat went out. It's a $300 repair... They declined coverage saying it was obviously starting to fail prior to purchase. I had coverage before through Old Republic and decided to change. I've used Old Republic on every home I've owned (18) and never had an issue. Choice Home Warranty, to me appears to be a complete scam!
Choice Home Warranty never did fix my refrigerator it took over a month and a half and I had to buy a new fridge. Four technicians misdiagnosed my fridge. It was a $2, 000 frigerator, and I had to buy a new one. These people are total rip-off artists, bait and switch.
warranty service
Do not, repeat do not use choice home warranty under any circumstances. Do not be fooled! Even after providing maintenance records of my heat-pump being serviced, chw still found a reason not to cover or accept any responsibility for the heat-pump that I had to replace. Choice home warranty indicated that they had pictures of the damage to my unit, but could not provide proof that the pictures actually belonged to me. Filed a complaint with the bbb and now will have to get my attorney involved. Do your research and find a more reputable home warranty service. Military/dod, everyone who reads this beware and don't learn the extremely expensive way that I did! Choice home warranty should be investigated for fraud!
service on refrigerator
Last week I called and submitted a new claim for my GE refrigerator that lost power and did not work. The technician arrived and from the time he rang our door bell to the time he left he was very insulting and rude to my Wife who was alone with him. She was so upset she called me at work and I told her to ask him to leave. She did and the only way she could get him out of the house was to pay him the service call fee. Right after CHW called me and informed me they were rejecting my claim due to improper cleaning maintenance which caused the refrigerator to overheat and fail. I could not believe it. I pull out the unit and clean it all over three times a year especially the condenser coils. I immediately called GE to send out a factory repair technician. He arrived and found that the CHW technician misdiagnosed the issue and the unit was maintained properly and that he had no idea what he was doing. I then called CHW to complain about the service call and requested for them to send out another technician for repair. In addition, I told them I never wanted that service provider in my house again. They refused and stood firm on their decision. I asked three times on the phone and in writing for a written decision from them on the refusal of repair and the reason why but they have neglected to send it to me. Please be warned they are a scam. They want your money and look for any reason to reject claims. Run, run, run.
central air conditioner and broken promise
I filed a claim with Choice Home Warranty for a broken central air home unit, It took over a week, ( in 96-degree weather) before they told me that they had NO ONE to come take a look at the unit, but hey, their still looking for someone! I finally received permission to have my air conditioner repairman to come, but I had to pay him then they would reimburse me, !st they don't cover the test to see where or if the unit is leaking freon, They don't cover the cost of freon and even though the repairman told them this unit is old and needed to be replaced, they refused that also. So I paid a bit over 200 dollars to fix the unit. I called to cancel the policy and a manager told me that they would go ahead and reimburse me the 200 dollars as I had all maintenance done and the unit had been well taken care of, nope didn't get that either. Man am I foolish believing that this company would actually fulfill a promise!
breach of contract standard practice - let's fight back
This is an abbreviated post. Choice Home Warranty has denied valid claims for many of us. If you posted a negative comment here or anywhere, it's because they "stuck it to you", and a post was all you could do.
It's not all you can do. I am setting up a web site so we can organize as a group and take some steps to prevent others from being taken advantage of by this operation.
The web site is www.chwscam.com ( I registered the domain name and will get the web site set up as soon as possible).
Associated email address is
[protected]@yahoo.com This email address is up and running, and is for communicating privately about what we are going to do.
Please follow up on your negative post, and really take a couple of steps to really have an effect on Choice Home Warranty's business.
They took your money and reneged on the deal. Good chance they were rude. Let's do something about it, they figured there is nothing you can do.

website to warn others
Choice Home Warranty has proven to be a complete scam operation.
The deny valid claims. In my case, they twice changed what the on-site technician reported,
in order to deny the claim. First issue was with the hot water heater; current issue is the air conditioning system. (I will share the details on web site mentioned below).
I have carefully reviewed the service agreement, and in both cases these were valid claims.
I’ve talked to vendors that have dealt with the company, and they knew who I was talking about before I said the company name.
After numerous phone calls and “discussions”, they offer a “settlement”, a small part of their actual obligation.
I see there are others that have reported the same practice.
There are hundreds of us that have been ‘burned’ by this company. One person alone has little recourse.
However, if we get together and take some actions, I am certain we can get some justice.
Since this is their standard operating procedure, I am certain, as a group, we can get the attention of governmental agencies that are established specifically to protect consumers.
Falsifying the reports of on-site technicians etcetera will certainly get some attention.
I would like to warn as many people as possible not to waste their money by making a deal with
Choice Home Warranty. It will end up costing them much more than if they would just have just paid our valid claims.
As I said, one person alone cannot accomplish a lot. However, I am setting up a dedicated web site and email account, the purpose of which will be to get as many people together that have been “taken” by Choice Home Warranty.
With this site, we can securely exchange information, communicate, and agree on courses of action.
People from all states can participate, but the more Florida residents the better, as BBB’s are state-specific.
All of us can participate in flooding All of the review sites with our negative experiences.
I will share every review site I can find, and others can do the same.
The focus of Florida residents can be to contact the consumer protection agencies as a group.
The web site is www.chwscam.com. < this will be up and running by this weekend, 10/15/2017 >
Email address is [protected]@yahoo.com
The web site will have a very simple setup at first, just to get it up and running.
People do not like to get fooled and scammed, I expect a lot of people would like to see some justice done here,
and stop as many people as possible from signing an agreement with Choice Home Warranty.
P.S. This should not be a surprise to the company. I outlined my intent in notes, emails, and conversations with them, and let them know I will be methodical, organized and persistent. Once started, there will be no way for them to “clean this up”, as they have attempted to do in the past, most likely hiring one of the companies that put false positive posts on review sites.

service on dishwasher
I am following up with a complaint I filed on my dishwasher. They sent a tech. out that didn't know what he was doing and he broke the latch on the dishwasher and pulled out the circuit board, he said it needed a new circuit board and he would call it in the next day due to the late hour of the day. I called CHW to see if the tech had called it in and they told me the part had to be ordered and it would take 3 -5 business days to get it. The part finally went to the tech on Sept. 20, 2017. I heard nothing from the tech. Tried several times to call him, he would not answer the phone and his mail box was not set up. I called CHW and informed them of this tech's non-response to my calls. They called him and got the same thing. They reassigned my claim to another Tech which came out immediately, assessed the situation and said he could not repair the dishwasher. After waiting for 3 days to hear from CHW at no avail I called them and I was told that the dishwasher was old and it was not worth the repair. They would send me $179.00 for my dishwasher. I told them I could not replace my dishwasher for that amt. of money. She said that was all it was worth. After arguing with her she raised the amount to $229.99. My dishwasher cost over $500.00 when I purchased it from Sears 7 years ago. She then referred me to Section F #16 of the contract in the book. Stating that they reserve the right to... When they claim to REPAIR OR REPLACE you can for get them doing any replacement. It is now Oct.5, 2017 still no dishwasher. I could have purchased a fantastic one with the $1200.00 I paid for this warranty.
You may want to check with the retailer. Many offer extended service programs that would replace the unit for you.
repairs not covered.
My AC went out and it took two weeks for Choice to tell me that I didn’t follow the manufacture’s recommended maintenance. I asked what the manufactures recommended maintenance is, they didn’t know, but they sure could tell me that I didn’t follow it. I just bought my home one year ago. I set up a maintenance plan with an AC company, who Choice didn’t let me use. My company has serviced my AC, in fact when I saw the photos of how clean my condenser was I was impressed. Needless to say I cancelled my policy with Choice. And my house is still HOT!
I had to throw a fit - There are also several attorneys with class action law suits pending - They pulled the same crap on me. They are refunding 100% of my premium. You need to GET LOUD.
