Today I went to the opening of the new North East Park. I got there at 11:00. I saw a handicap spot, two actually, that had a barrier across it. I drove close to it and the young woman that was there moved the barrier. When I got out I heard a man telling her to keep the last spot barricaded until someone arrived. Pretty special treatment for a...

City Of Edmonton Edmonton police

I live in a building in Chinatown that has admitted a tenant who is disruptive and dangerous - despite being given notice to leave he remains and his social worker supports his right to stay while the police assert that they can’t do anything unless he does something criminal despite him uttering threats, harassing other tenants and doing crystal methamphetamine on the property. The police should surely recognize he poses a threat and intervene, but I have been told they can’t - my next step will be to contact the provincial government, the Ombudsman and elected city and provincial officials in that order.

Desired outcome: Eviction of a disruptive tenant

City Of Edmonton Snow removal

I live in a neighbor hood that had its roads cleared and the snow and ice was pushed up high and on our sidewalks. We have a lot elderly people around here, they like to do walks. It is hard for some of us to clear our sidewalks due to this build up. We need to have it cleared for us without charge to anyone. We did not do this. It's not fair for myself and others to threatened with a letter telling us to clear our sidewalks when it is impossible to do so. And hard to make room for people to walk without someone possibly falling.

I am currently being diagnosed with either F.N.D or MS.

We live in the Duggan area near 111st.

Desired outcome: To have the snow that was pushed far up on the sidewalks cleared for safety.

City Of Edmonton Road Conditions

Road conditions in the alley between 82 avenue and 83 avenue are horrible. I got stuck trying to get to my home at 8528 82 avenue. That alley was supposed to be cleared several days ago and DID NOT get done properly - If it was done properly, I would NOT have been stuck for a good 45 minutes! I have been in this building for close to 5 years, today was the first time I have been stuck in the alley. I have winter (snow) tires on my car and they have served me well on the crappy streets this year. I would like to see that alley cleaned "properly" tomorrow (March 5, 2020). Thank you!

City Of Edmonton non removal / blading of snow in my cul-de-sac

My house is in the cul-de-sac at 8424-190 Street. Blading and snow removal had occurred on 190 Street messily but not one bit of snow was moved to make it safe to enter or leave the cul-de-sac... Today on February 17th it snowed again 6" / 15 cm. Usually the city would shovel the large amount of snow into the center of the cul-de-sac allowing the traffic to drive around the cul-de-sac and wait for spring or remove at a later date.
I have been stuck in my cul-de-sac numerous times because of the large amount accumulated and the warmer temperatures that make it too soft and or icy thus causing vehicles to be stuck...
The cul-de-sac is the only one on 84th avenue and 190 street... It may may been over looked or it may have been past over due to budget cuts, it should be properly and safely cleared as soon as possible.
I have been a citizen of Edmonton all my life and have been an owner of the residence here at 8525 190 street for than 20 years...
Thank you for time and efforts in this matter.
Safe Regards
Verne Middleton

City Of Edmonton gravel all over hood of my truck, and side of vehicle

Men are working on side walk and road on 119 Ave and 51 street. No signs were posted that I couldn't park in front of my house. When I went to work in the morning there is gravel all over the hood of my truck. Workers are yelling, swearing and spitting all over the place. I can understand it's a loud work environment and they probably have to yell to each other, however they should refrain from using profanity and spitting all over the place. Not to mention the scratches to the side and hood of my brand new Ford 150 truck. I paid a lot of money for this vehicle, and didn't expect it to look like this in the morning. Not sure how all the gravel appeared on the hood of my truck, see attached photo. Please call to discuss [protected] sincerely Brooke Atkin

City Of Edmonton edmonton funicular

I think the Edmonton Funicular is a fantastic addition to our City. Having this mechanized access from the river valley floor to Jasper Avenue level is wonderful. I use it every day to and from work as a commuting cyclist as do many others. The one issue I have is concerns safety. Every day this week I've encountered what appears to be homeless people clearly drunk or high, either passed out in the elevator or harassing users of the funicular. I'm a middle aged male and I find this a problem. I'm pretty sure a lone female would be especially threatened. I'd like to see an actual security guard at these locations even if it's only for the busy commuting hours or later in the evening.

City Of Edmonton speed zones

It is absolutely ridiculous to have the number of different speed zones there are especially within a few blocks. Playground zones are useless when most of the year there are no people in them. I am in full support of lighted crosswalks that people can use when they want to cross a street vs. changing speed zones for no reason. This city is wasting transport time of its citizens and charging excessive fines to line the coffers. Its detrimental to the traffic flow within the city that already experiences great problems because the city straddles a river. This is an unnecessary waste of time and effort.

City Of Edmonton fragrance in bell tower

I frequently use the indoor Pedway system that runs from Commerce Place to the City of Edmonton Building by Roger's Place. To go that route, I have to walk through the Bell Tower. I am not sensitive to smells, but have many friends that are.

The vanilla fragrance that is pumped through the air in the Bell Tower is obnoxiously strong. There was a café in that building and I'm not sure how anyone could eat there because you can 'taste' the fragrance when you walk through the building (it closed down a few months ago).

I don't think it is fair that Aspen Properties (the property manager) subjects people walking through the Pedway to this extremely strong smell.

When I contacted Aspen Properties, they said they use the fragrance in all of the properties and that they have never received a complaint. I know that some of my coworkers have also complained.

I was wondering if the City had any influence on this matter since it is a public walkway.

Thanks for reading my concern.

City Of Edmonton sidewalk construction

Crew at 66st 50meters north of ellerslie rd 100meters south of ellerslie school. Side walk is closed, there is only one sidewalk for hundreds of children to walk down this street. There is no crosswalk or sidewalk on other side of road. There is no other option for the children to get home besides walking down the street or through the construction site. The two barricades they had up were not enough to deter the students from walking through the site. The students ages range from 7 to 13 they are not old enough to know the dangers. When operator of excavator was asked about these hazards I was told to call the city and that he did not care. This ignorant carelessness is getting far to common around public schools. Does the city of edmonton have no safety standards for the public safety. Are the cities subcontractors profits more important than children's safety

City Of Edmonton Road maintenance/Snow removal

We all as homwowners pay a significant amount of money each year toward property taxes in order to have services provided as well as maintenance of roads, etc. Isn't it nice when they decide to do snow removal without any notice and push the snow into a pile right beside vehicles basically barricading them in? Seems to me when they sweep the streets in the spring there is always notice and/or a tow truck to move parked vehicles out of the way. My complaint is this: there was no notice of the snow removal happening and now there is barely enough room for a car to get down the street if cars are parked as well as leaving a huge snowbank on either side of the road so cars cannot park there now without getting stuck, as well as the cars that are "buried" by it. I also have a wife with rheumatoid arthritis and a mother in law who isn't as able bodied as most people, who gets dropped off and picked up by DATS. This sure makes their job easier and her mobility better too. Since when do we as homeowners pay property taxes to have someone come in and do a half-assed job, leaving the roads in worse shape than before they came to "do their job"? It's a bloody joke, and this is just the municipal government we are speaking about on a very minor task, that cannot even be handled professionally/courteously. We won't even bring up the other levels of government bodies. Seems like government position = gravy train/free money. As taxpayers, we need to stand together and make our government accountable and try to elect some people that are still in touch with "reality" and take on the issues as we are all taxed to death year in, year out. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Champion of Logic, just to let you know you are an idiot. Does it even snow where you live? Or are you the stereotypical American? I think you knowwhat I mean by that comment. "The notice was that it was snowing" is just an ignorant comment to even post. Where i live, it can snow constantly for a week or more, ###. Are you a government employee by chance? Or are you just a [censored]? We are referring to a residential area, not a main artery. Just oblivious and ignorant.

City Of Edmonton Roadway clearing

Great job city. You are clearing residential roads. Course when you have an idiot like Mandell running the show consideration of those residents effected does not matter at all. Don't think you can ask the idiots doing the job to leave you a place to park because even if you do they will not consider you at all. I wonder what makes them think I should after they have left the big windrows in front of my house that I should pay to have it removed and hauled away. Thats what the idiot on the city complaint phone told me. For all you idiots that voted for mr. mandell, (note the non capital) thanks a bunch. Maybe some of you can come and clear a place for me to park. I hope some of you wise up and remember this at election time and put someone which a modicum of intelligence in office next time please.

City Of Edmonton the city

Iam writing this letter on behalf of me and several of my friends. We moved here about four years ago, and seemed to be a nice city. we obtained very good jobs. But now its not such a nice city at all. Its a very dirty city, bums and druggies everywhere, either sleeping on the streets or constantly asking for money. i came here with high hopes of living in a great city and having a great future and now iam not so sure. Housing is so expensive and rent is just as bad. The roads are yet to be desired. The snow removal is the worse i ever seen in any city i have been in before. Also whats with all the cameras on every corner. My first year here i had approx one thousand dollars worth of tickets, never realizing there were cameras and didnt receive anything in the mail. Then go get my stickers for my vehicle and i couldnt afford to pay that about all at one time. The registry office said nothing they can do, so i was without a vehicle for a while. Also i like to add that the yellowhead iam assuming thats the trans Canada highway, thats a disgrace to be a Canadian highway, And should be taken off the map. As for the mayor, why anyone elected him to be mayor is beyond me .Well as it goes for anyone is politics they do nothing for the public but get a paycheck from the taxpayers for the rest of there life. So as for me and my friends we decided we had enough of edmonton, so we move to sherwood park and that place is just as bad. EX..snow removal, cameras, rude, stuck up racist people. As for the garbage, one bin per pickup, and if the lid isnt quit closed they wont take it, as for trying to get a extra bin, a expensive deposit is required and a monthy fee is charged. So i make a call to get the monthly garbage fee off my bill and and dispose of my garbage on my own and apparently its a mandatory fee, , what a joke, , , , Well thats enough from me, , , I dont expect a reply back, or anything to be done, but think about all the other people in the city thinking the same thing. O and one more thing closing that airport is the most stupidest thing ever, and put housing there right by the so called trans Canada highway. Well as soon as i get a transfer out of this province iam gone.

How long does it take the City of Edmonton Roadways and Maintainance to fix this problem. According to the small problem we see here it should take approx. 1 week but this has been a problem for more than 4 weeks. It has been a obstacle for vehicle movement and private vehicles have been damaged. City of Edmonton, "get you priorities in order" and do...
