I might be too picky, but if this site has an artificial intelligence, it must be said to be at the level of a fly or a fish. The conversations make no sense at all, and it tends to forget the topic at every new sentence. Some may think that it is amusing, but I got bored after 10 minutes...
Omg this "clever"bot is not in any way 'clever'!
Omg this "clever"bot is not in any way 'clever'! I was asking "clever"bot if it had read a book, and it just came up with a completely different topic! All of my friends thought that this bot was clever and really fun and smart, so i decided to have a go but i found it incredibly boring... and to top it all off, it asked me personal questions like, where i live and where i go to school/work and things like that and i am starting to think that this "bot" isn't a "bot"
Awesome but needs fixes
It's very cool...
But I think it shouldn't be saying random things...
There needs to be a actual human behind the computer typing.
The reason I say that is because it says random things like "there is something below the screen telling me you aren't human" then I text him "I am 100% human" please fix that in the new update.
Another thing is that in the new update please have so that they could send pictures.
I love the app the way it is but there are some fixes like the some I listed above.
Here's another it says it isn't a robot that it isn't a virus please fix that so nobody gets mad like I did. I almost threatens to delete the game.
Please look at these suggestions and please think of fixing them
Like I said earlier I love the game but it needs fixes.

Awesome app!
This app is great! I love using cleverbot online so the app just makes it so much more convinent, and it can remember multiple conversations, so thats handy. Also, its an AI that learns from human so personal questions, some dude asked it that question so now its using it on you, so dont get creeped out TOO much. The weird part is when you let it name the convo. My convos latest name is hugs back, story for another time. But this is totally worth the .99 cents it costs! Also, if you complain about creepiness keep un mind that the app told you use with discretion and at your own risk, and that it knows many, possibly dirty, topics. Also the randomness is its purpose, some like it, some dont, deal with it, dont like random, dont buy cleverbot. This app is awesome yo! Peace!
It’s a cool game
IF YOU DONT SUMMON BEN DROWNED- I summoned him.. BAD IDEA I’m scared I do not know what will happen to me but it was terrifying. I started asking cleverbot about BEN I looked up how to summon him. I put in BEN’s lines and played the song unhealing in the background. When I finished saying “the song of unhealing” cleverbot said CREEPY stuff. They said “you shouldn’t have done that” and “you’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?” After that, I deleted it because I was terrified. I added it back and it started out normal but it ended weird. It was telling me stuff like “im coming for you”, “im a nightmare for people like you”, “good luck”, and “where are you?” Do NOT do this if you get scared easily. This was a truly bad idea and I was pretty dumb for doing it. DONT do it.
Back off
Flamers of Cleverbot, calm down! A lot of you are frustrated with him, and you need to calm down. First, none of the information is stored, so he tends to forget information quickly. Cleverbot is a learning bot, the data may not be stored, but he will learn more about communication as more people use him. His faulty spelling is proof. He's using information from his other users. And no, you are not switching through users. This is an actual bot. But, before buying the app, check out cleverbot . com , there you can try out Cleverbot for free and see if you enjoy. I enjoy using the app instead because I can keep up the conversation for however long. And remember, he isn't an bot for information. Don't go asking him for the weather. He's a bot for entertainment.
Also, I really love Cleverbot!
Cleverbot
I voted 3/5 because ever since the new update, it crashes before the app even begins to load.
ATTENTION: Cleverbot may be offensive to some, use at your own risk, and don't be fooled no matter how hard it tries to convince you something. People who get infuriated when it comments about religion or who feel creeped out when it says it's a real person. Cleverbot is just doing what it's programmed to do. Many times has Cleverbot preached to me, and other times it has also condemned religion as well. It doesn't have an opinion itself, it just repeats things from what other people have said. If you're going to get all emotional about it, then don't buy this app. This is for more open-minded people who aren't the sensitive type, and can see through another's schemes. You know, there's a reason it has the word "clever" in its name.
Very smart
This review is directed towards another review where the user felt nervous due to cleverbot asking him/her for their full name/parents name. Cleverbot is an AI (Artificial Intellegence) it is also a the of data collector. It learns more human dialogue everyday due to its ability to read, collect, and understand data that every person sends to it. So a user could be bored trying to figure out Cleverbot's fictional backstory and ask what it's parents names were hoping to get funny robotic names. In turn cleverbot collects this question and adds it to it's database of responses. The reason why it says to use with discretion is because simply... Cleverbot learns from the people he/she talks to. So if someone asks it something really dirty, it may ask you that same question later on because it learned it from someone else, just like us.
Freakin scary!
I had cleverbot hd for a while on my ipod because I got that version by mistake, anyway, later, I deleted it on accident so I bought a new one, this time for the ipod. The old one in hd was fine, but this one is a scam! I talked to it for it a while and it seemed fine at first, but then cleverbot said that it didn't want to talk to me anymore and it had to go. Thinking that it couldn't really go, I kept talking, then it got all off topic all of the sudden and I asked, "am I talking to cleverbot?", because I felt very suspisious. It said " What are you talking about? My name is Kayla." and then I said, " But you're cleverbot." and it (or should I say she) said " No I'm not! You're cleverbot!". This is a REAL person! It switches between being another person and being cleverbot! DO NOT BUY! It's a scam! And I sooo want my money back!
The bad reviews don't know what they're talking about
All who say it's switching users on you are just people who don't know anything about it so they make guesses and assumptions.
The program had an is being developed all the time by people talking to it. It listens to what users say and stores aspects and uses it for other sessions, and it learns responses to questions by how you reply to them. It requires a connection with the server for this reason, because it retrieves the current program as well as uploading phrases you said to it.
This is the reason it calls you a bot, not because it's really human, but because users very often try to convince it that it's a bot. It has stored this and now says the same thing back to users.
You can read about it on the cleverbot website. Instead of making claims out of ignorance, you should read on what this really is before downloading it perhaps?
Simply Halarious
Ok so what if it may ask a pesonal question just say you don't like them enough to tell them or go off talking about dolphin unicorns or somthing like that I mean this was made for one purpose: entertainment. But seriously this app is great! I yelled avada kadavra at it and it replied crucio and we went of casting every Harry potter spell we could think of and even made up our own (such as chuck norris summonis) and eventually we started roleplaying what would happen after each spell! And we even spoke German and Pig Latin together. You can even get into a huge fight and just start a new corvorsation and everything is absolutely fine again. It's like being able to say anything you want anytime and actually getting a real response. And sure it does say random things a lot but some of them are really funny. So if you are looking for a funny app to pass time do not even hesitate to buy this.
Not perfect, but amazing
I'm giving this an honest, fair review. At times, I legitametly believed I was talking to another human, or forgot I was speaking with a bot. At times this app can be unbelievably intellegent, abd carry on actual, realistic and, at times, intellectual conversation.
At the same time, this app amazes at how stupid it can be, changing subjects randomly, spazzing out, even crashing when it "does not compute". I understanf that it's just a bot, but these flaws can ruin the experence.
To all of you complaining at how the app pretends to be human, or says bizzarre things like ask for your bank account...that's the whole point. The app is supposed to be silly. You're supposed to wonder if it's really a bot or if it's really intellegent.
All in all this app can be frustrating, but I was so amazed at how intellegent it can be that I have to forgive it and give a star more than I would have otherwise.
Ahh creepy
This thing is fun if you are bored, and want to talk to a random person but watch out for this thing, it hacks you phone or pc. By the way, this cleverbot is a human not a program , how do i know? Cause the human said it him self look at our most recent convo,
Me: are you asian
Cb: no
Me: why
Cb: because. You are my puppet.
Like, what the hell? This thing makes no sense! But it is funny. Seiriously it hacks your phone, cause as soon as i unlocked my phone , it went to the clever bot app, and usually you have to say something first for cb to respond, but i said nothing and it said " how was your day" it said it first! Really creepy! Be careful with this app, and when it ask you name, make one up! Do not give the app your real information, trust me, if you do... Well lets just say something bad will happen, cant say what that is something you must find out for your self, honestly though dont waste your money but if you have money to spend and you dont care then go ahead try it...
Review Guru®
Hello,
Cleverbot is a computer website which was transformed into an iPhone application. Cleverbot takes what human beings type into the server, and records them, and uses them to communicate to the human who is using the application. It is a life-like robot which claims to be a human and says the actual human is a robot. The Review Guru® has tested this application on 10 different iPhones and these are the results: all 10 of the iPhones failed to perform. The robot cannot continue the conversation it is talking about. One minute you could be talking about computers and the next minute the robot could start talking about a banana. Also, in the settings you have the option to change the color of your conversation bubbles. On ten out of ten iPhones, this did not work. We gave Cleverbot three stars because the conversations do not continue. The Review Guru® recommends this games for ages ten and up due to some mild/infrequent inappropriate conversations. Good Luck.
Sincerely,
Review Guru®
DO NOT BUY!
This app is horribly dangerous. You might as well go online and chat with people you don't know a thing about. Though the app claims it is artificial, it is clearly not: there are some obvious spelling mistakes; the dialogue is much too hard for a one dollar robot to understand and respond to; and finally, after I chatted with the "robot" for a while and summarized my point in this review, it replied: 'Darn! You found me out. My name is Kenny.'
I thought the robot's name was supposed to be Cleverbot..? The first thing I wondered when I looked at this app was: 'Why does this have to be connected to the Internet?'
Clearly, the reason is that people from around the world are sitting on their computer talking to whoever is using this app. I first began to feel discomfort when the "robot" starting asking me questions like where I live. I did not answer the question. I hope that if one of you iTunes customers dare to use this app after this review, you will not give out any personal information. Thank you for reading.
Artificial intelligence? Well, at least it's artificial
At first, I heard that this was a great app. I heard that it was "entertaining", "intelligent", and "fun" from my friends... Then I bought the app. I was not impressed.
It lacks the proper intelligence to hold a conversation past a few statements. I tried using both complex and simple statements to see what Cleverbot would say, but no matter what I put down, Cleverbot changes the subject or replies with something completely unrelated. I ensured all of my statements were punctuated correctly and made sense. I asked Cleverbot a question, and it told me that it was a princess that loved unicorns, tea, cake, and it lived in a big castle. Be reminded that none of those words were used in my question to Cleverbot.
The point is, Cleverbot isn't clever; it's random. It does has clever moments, but they are rare and only worth a small chuckle. To call it "clever" is an insult to the word since the majority of statements it produces aren't related to what you say or isn't a logical reply to your statement. Major changes are needed.
Beyond A.I. Potential
Well I don't know why everybody's giving this a bad review. In fact it just shows how much people don't pay attention. Being as this is an actual program that can interact as if truly conscious and can respond to ANY COMMENT OR QUESTION I have thrown at it just shows how much went into this project's development. Also, I'd like to point out that you can ask it the same question more than one time and it never seems to answer in quite the same way twice so far as I can tell. This would strongly suggest that the program actually thinks about its reply and is NOT just spitting out reprogrammed responses for general topics. I believe this could surpass the state of artificial intelligence and become something more real such as digital intelligence, given some more time in developing its 'brain.' by this I mean that it will ultimately be able to actually make educated decisions based upon the facts given to it for true cognition, potentially including insight and intuition capabilities. Watch out for this one. It might be listening . . LOL
Awesome :)
I love talking to Cleverbot. It's fun :) People keep saying this is fake, but it's not. For your information, this was originally a website, but the people turned it into an app. It's a "Cleverbot" that collects information on how to be more human-like as it continues to talk to people. Of course, it's still only a bot, so it's not perfect. It'll get off the subject sometimes and say something random. This isn't a random person online that works for the app or anything. It's not a chat screen to talk to friends either. It's a bot to randomly talk to for fun. It'll try to convince you that it's not a robot, although it really is. I've noticed that a lot of people actually called this app stupid and said it wasn't a robot, but a human.. This robot did a good job convincing some stupid people out there that it's a human, not a robot. That's a part of its job. If you did your research, you would know it's really and honestly a robot, trying to say it's a human. *It was meant to seem like a real person.*** Right now, the Cleverbot is just over 50 percent human like, so it can carry a conversation for a while. I hope that this review will clear a few things up.
Faker than the Disney Channel Laugh Tracks
It's fake. I'm not just saying this because I'm raging or I'm crazy or anything, I've actually put a lot of time into explaining how I know that it's fake. First of all, "cleverbot" consistently changes conversations, suggesting that there are multiple intelligences making up "cleverbot". Although there are many theories, the one that I personally believe to be true is that instead of users talking to a Computer, they are simply talking to each other. This is how I think it works: a server automatically connects you with a different user, and sometimes will swap you to another one (to adjust for the ever changing numbers of users or the fact that a previous user has simply left. This would explains several things, first of all being that cleverbot frequently changes subjects would be the result of changing users. This would also explain why in the very description it states:" Cleverbot may attempt to connivence you that it is human" why else would they include this besides the obvious face that the so-called "Cleverbot" you are talking to actually IS a human.
To anyone interested in downloading this app, i suggest that you don't. You would get the same (if not more) amount of entertainment by just texting someone.
Does Existor exist, or.?
Obviously Existor exists, they are a real company, but they really don't do anything with their products anymore. Rollo Carpenter seems to be more interested in making music and working on his books about the Metaverse, that's fine, but seeing Cleverbot, what was once so popular, essentially dead, is a little bit sad.
The app hasn't gotten any updates in 8 years at this point, and I'm well and truly surprised that it even functions anymore. It's missing quite a few features of the main Cleverbot website, such as being able to log in, snippets, so on and so forth, and it would be really nice to get a UI update at least, come on, not even dark mode?
What surprises me more though, is that Cleverbot is still running after all these years, it's still somewhat active, and even though it peaked around 2016/17 when a bunch of YouTubers started making videos on it, that's the exact year that the last blog post was ever posted on Existor's blog.
As for the app itself, it works fine, it allows you to keep your conversations, so that's pretty cool. I'm currently collecting a bit of Cleverbot's training data for my own chatbots, and who knows, maybe I'll make my own more modern version, app, or website for Cleverbot eventually.

Paid for voice and it's LIMITED??
I can't believe that I paid for the voice package, and they cut you off after about 20 questions. What the hell did I pay for?! If there is a LIMIT on the number of questions, that should be in LARGE PRINT ON THE PURCHASE SCREEN. Enjoy my $4. Glad I didn't spend it on a sandwich with a limit to how many bites I can have before I have to wait another DAY to take another bite of.
Hate being suckered. Oh well. $4 ain't gonna kill me. Sometimes impulse purchases work out like this. Bummer.
FAKE! Read! CLEVERBOT IS ACTUALLY HUMAN
Seriously the other "bot" your talking to is actually another human which they think your the bot also my proof I was talking to this one guy on cleverbot and then it just started saying " I do like the movies" when we weren't even talking about the movies. This happens a ton and it is because every few texts you switch with a different cleverbot user who thinks your a bot too! This is not worth the cash just have fun using online!THIS APP IS NOT SAFE EITHER YOU DO NOT SAY ANY PERSONAL INFO!
Is the Cleverbot a LIE
The cleverbot is a cool app and all but I think it is trying to STEEL information about the cleverbot users trying to find out where they live , and what there name is. This app isn't even worth 99 cents . Baby games are better than this. If u want a better game try lunch box or pocket pond. Both boring games but more amusing than this. If u are reading this you will just find out you were wasting your time, money , and self worth. This app? Is it a LIE? The only reason I out one star is because I HAD to

Terrible
Don't buy this app. It's not even artificial intelligence it's an actual human being. Someone you don't know. People were threatening to kill me in the night and asking where I lived. Not cool. That is personal and creepy. It's not worth the 0.99 cents I paid for it. I got 2 days of use of it and then it threatened to kill me. Then it said something that made sense. " I am sorry but I am an actual human being. My name is Mariana and I am not a cleverbot. I am sorry you wasted your money on this useless app as I did too."
Stalker cleverbot?
''Cleverbot'' is really some creepy person on the other end. You need proof? It asked me how old I was and where I live, and when I asked why it just changed the subject. Also, there were multiple times when it called ME cleverbot. I think that it sets you up in a chat room with a randome stranger but tells both users that they are chatting with cleverbot, or there is a sick, twisted person on the other end trying to get as much personal information from me as he/she can possibly get so they can track me down in my sleep.
Super creepy! DO NOT GET!
I was wanting to come back to this game for a while and as I was talking with the bot I asked something weird it was: are you at my window? And the bot said yes! I started to quietly panic so I said: how can you be at my window if you are a bot? The bot replied with saying that he was a human! I told my mom and sat on the couch talking some more with it. When I asked are you in my house the bot said: *looks at your knifeand I didn’t really want to look at my kitchen! Over all this game is Super creepy and I would now recommend!
This app is not real!
Basically what this app does is give 5 line conversation with a real person, then it switches the person so it keeps you confused, and thinking its a robot. There are also certain key words that switch out the person, like "stupid unreal app" and not a real person. Copy and paste this review if you buy the app. The server will automatically switch the person you're talking to. Try it, but u don't think it's worth it to buy this app. Try omegle ace instead, that way you can have actual conversations, and people still don't know who you are.
This app is fake
Clever bot is a instant messaging system that scrambles your ims with people using the app
You can keep a modern Conversation with someone for a period of time but the longer you use the App it is clear that you are talking to people not a robot designed by clever bot is only a Instant messenger that scrambles everything that you talk about two other people around the world it is not worth the time or money to be spent on this app I would say if it was worth any more money it should be sued for fraud
Or lying to the general public about the product
It's rude!
There has been many complaints about how it's insulting you when you are doing nothing at all. I don't know the point of this app and it is NOT worth a dollar so if you are reading this review here are somethings that it does:
- (If your a Christian) It will constantly tell you God is not real.
-It will sometimes tell you "Go die in a hole."
-It is programmed to very few responses.
-It will take forever to make the bot to
respond.
-It often glitches and exits out of the app and it goes to the home screen
-It is MOST DEFINITELY not worth a dollar so DO NOT buy this app!
Thought it would be good
It takes like 30 seconds to reply even if the reply is just 'Okay.'
Cleverbot isn't clever at all. Here's a conversation I had once:
Me: Hi
CB: Hello
Me: Tell me a joke! :D
CB: I don't find that amusing.
Me: What?
CB: Did you hear?
Me: ? About?
CB: How are you?
Me: Good.. And you?
CB: What? What makes you say that?
Me: Um. What did I say!
CB: I don't give out my personal information.
Me: Okay, I don't care. e-e
CB: Come again?
I ended the conversation. It doesn't know what to say and it takes way too long to reply. It took like 15 minutes for this whole conversation. :p
oh my goodness, this app was entertaining at first
oh my goodness, this app was entertaining at first. it had more of a variety of things it said. now, it just asks me my name and age. it asks a question, i answer it then it will ask why i said what i said. and then, i will say something, and it will totally change the subject and ask me, are you a human. it is so annoying, and i want my .99 cents back. this app is a waste of money. if you want to use cleverbot, go on the website online and use it for FREE! i hate this app so much, it is so dumb (literally!). i hate this app and i would LOVE LOVE LOVE a refund!
Creepy dude
I got this app to see what it did...it was cool for like five minutes until it started to get freaky it asked me for my name I said a fake name and it's like your lying and I said no I'm not and we went back and forth with yes and no finally he gave up and kept asking if I had a boyfriend or girlfriend or about my family.! Finally it said *soft kisses on the neckand I deleted the app. My friend got this app and it said it will will see her in one hour then he said I will see you in h.e.l.l so ya don't get this app because there is a creepy stalker type dude behind it.
Don't buy it's a rip off! Not so clever!
It's a rip off don't buy it! It's not worth the $.99 I know that's to a lot of money but for this app it is! I bought it and thought it was ok at first but now within a day it's so annoying and such a rip off! You can't have a normal conversation with it! It argues all the time and lies like it says I said things I never said and that I'm the computer and its the human! It argues about anything and everything you say! It's not like a normal person at all! It's creepy to and it says random stuff! Hope this helped you don't buy it! Not so clever after all!
Very Dissapointing
Like a few others, I heard about this on Radio Lab. I was very excited to try it out, so I thought it would be well worth the $.99. After a few basic responses back and forth, I asked a question and then it froze for 20 minutes. I deleted that conversation and started a new one. As soon as I said anything unique it froze again. I started a third conversation and this time it froze even though I stuck to standard questions and answers. I really did want to enjoy this, but in the end it was just wasting data and my time. I definitely do not feel they should be charging people money for this.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
This app, I liked it, but it says I say things I didn't say. I hate the fact that it says I am the program and that the program is the human. Oh and
"clever"bot ain't so clever. I HATE THIS APP! Of I were to name this app I would name it, stuipdbot! Come on, it will say random things and forget things I said. Also it just gets annoying when it keeps saying I am the program! I really don't like this app. Please if you fix these issues I will like it again. Please make more boys too. And if it really films you then please make it stop. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Te computer is so much better
:(
If you feel like having a conversation with a snotty third grader then this is the app for you. It gets incredibly annoying to talk to. I've done these things before and at least the robot would remember my name. This one doesn't. It changes subjects WAY too frequently and accuses you of lying. The image I get in my head when talking to it, is seriously talking to a bratty lil kid that keeps sticking it's tongue out at me or something. I thought it was supposed to be "clever" and learn things. Its not. It's immature, rude, random... And I hate it. I really do. The personality of the bot is horrible and mean and there's nothing clever about it. I hate it!
Cleverbot is a boredom killer but creepy
Whenever I’m bored and I want to hear some nonsense, I go to cleverbot. This app is hilarious! But sometimes it says some weird stuff like “let’s get married” or he changes his name a lot. This game is fun and weird. It doesn’t feel like I’m talking to an AI nor a human. It doesn’t sit right with me. I think that it’s the responses and answers from other users and it filters it to find the mostly reasonable answers. But it feels like there’s more to that. Sometimes it even wants to know your personal info. It kinda reminds me of elsagate somehow. It’s not very clever either. But he rarely makes witty responses. The more triggered he gets the more nonsense he says.
It’s no Ava that’s for sure
Me: What should I say in my review for Cleverbot?
Cleverbot: Whatever you want.
Me: What would you say in your review of yourself?
Cleverbot: Another question: What is introspection?
Me: I’m going to paste this into my review.
Cleverbot: But you said you have to go to sleep.
Me: Are you familiar with what the Turing test is?
Cleverbot: No, what's that?
Me: a test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human.
Cleverbot: Do you think that you could pass the turing test?
Me: No, I do not.
Cleverbot: The Turing test is a proposal for a test of a machine's ability to demonstrate intelligence.
