A hastle
My DD214 was ordered just under a year and half ago. To this day, I still have not gotten it. When I call to ask about it or to try to get a refund of the $100 that I spent for it to be expedited, I am out on hold for any time between 15 and 30 minutes just to be directed to their voicemail asking for my name and number. I never get a call back. Now I am in a position where I am losing money because I do not have it. I cannot do anything without it. No VA benefits, no nothing. So better for our country's veterans, seriously, because all you've successfully done is rob me of $100.
Recommendation: Simply do not go through them. Find someone else to help, because they won't.
Total scam and still no refund
SCAM ALERT! I am awarding this 1 star since I cannot take stars away. I placed an order with them back in October 2022. It is now the end of June 2023. I have called several times and have been given the same answer over and over that Covid has back logged the process. I eventually asked for a refund since the company in my opinion has not lived up to its mission statement. Long and short of the process, I have called several times. They have told me every time that management has to review my submission and they will send a email. I have never received a email. I have called and directly asked to speak to a manager, there never seems to be a manager available and im told they will call back within 24-48 hours. Also lies. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are preying in vets and the more I have looked into the reviews the clear it is this is a scam. I will not be surprised when I see a class action lawsuit get dropped at their door. Maybe then I can finally get my money back!

I ordered my DD 214 discharge papers through DD214direct.com last November. Every several months, I have followed up ... to see what the delay may be. I always get a polite and immediate response. But, I just never get the discharge papers I paid $99 dollars for them to get for me. The excuse is always that Covid has slowed things down at the National Archives. Maybe ... but not almost a year to get the papers! While this company gets pretty good reviews online, I am seriously starting to question what is going on there. And since I made this purchase with *** they are also trying to help me get a resolution. Buyer beware for others thinking of going this route.

Outstanding results, I tried to go to the Armys national archives and they didnt have correct paperwork but DD214 Direct correct paperwork first time out and really fast. Original paperwork with my Dads signature on it. Needed this paperwork for his funeral

The reality is; if you need it fast you are wasting your money because it most definitively is not fast. Going on 30 days since I placed my order no update emails have to keep calling them for their latest excuse. Something they have plenty of. If you need a copy fast you will be sadly disappointed.

DD214 Direct is a ripoff
DD214 Direct is a ripoff. I sent all requested info and $99.00 on February 5th and was promised rapid response. After 2 months I sent an e-mail and was told they were working on it but covid was slowing things down. Then they said they would check National Guard records, which is a good idea considering I left the military from the Army National Guard, and told them that previously. Now we're into June and I'm still waiting...and 99.00 poorer. Don't waste your money on this one. Note: I just did some searching and found a government site that will provide your DD214 for free.

2 Stars, I have not receive my DD214 ordered March 2022. They have not contacted me in anyway. As I have seen from other complaints, not exactly sure what they do with the request other than fill out the Same pdf that is online and send. People can do it for free. Had I know that I could also expedite for only $20 due to Medical reasons for the request and have it back within 2 weeks I would have done so. The *** is reporting it is taking *** working days average to retrieve records, these are the Personnel that retrieve the records reporting this time frame. I will try to contact dd214 direct later this morning it has been 2 months. No excuses for COVID. all personnel are back working and have been.

These people are crooks. Ocotober 14,2019 I paid $158 to have my records sent to me as is was trying to buy my first home through the VA. After weeks of not even receiving an update, I called around a few bases and got in touch with someone who said to NEVER pay for this kind of service. Well its October 14 and I still have not received a single record that I paid for. I actually completely forgot that i paid for this scam until going through some old photos in my phone and saw a screen shot of my order conformation. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE DISGUSTING PEOPLE. I greeted the rep and info him of my concerns. The rep response was I put in for a home loan thats why its taking so long. I assured the rep no such thing was done and he immediately started cutting me off and talking over me. Then he states or records show this is your first call so was it urgent? 7 almost 8 months later nothing. He then says now I have to wait 10-15 days more because the request was wrong. I feel it should be expedited because of the inconvenience and the timing. No apology given that was sincere. This is not how you treat ***. I will not recommend at all.

Its now May 22 ( thats 55 business days) and I still dont have my DD214. Called and asked when I would get it and got the the government is short staffed because of Covid excuse. News flash, everybody has been back to work for a while now, asked to speak to a supervisor, surprise, one wasnt available but one would call me within *** hours, I think your *** hours are up since its been 2 weeks and I havent received a call yet. But, I have to report that my experience was very different with a more positive outcome. because, I made my payment on Feb 7, 2020, and a phone contact on Feb 14, 2020, just to see where they were in the process. I was told, and I received an email that my information had been forwarded to the proper government office. I received an email with my DD214 in it on Feb 17, 2020. I am very pleased with my outcome, and very very happy. I was told from the representative that it would take anywhere from 1-45 days. Well, it only took 10 business days for Army/Air National Guard. I am again very please and happy with my outcome. They came through for me.

Zero customer service
Zero customer service. On the very day my father died, my minor child thought she would be kind and they to look for his dd214 through this site. The site asked for my personal and financial payment information ONLY to get to the next step to see if she could help me search as many sites do WITHOUT CHARGING THOUGH. My minor added my information but instead the dd214 website inputted incorrect auto-filled information merging my name with the service members. At the end there was NO signature and NO authorization for an incomplete record of information and this company STOLE money out of my bank. Not just a temporary hold just in case a signature followed. Stole it, debited it, kept it and has not responded to at least 10 email replies to at least 3 notices to SIGN or my 2 phone calls. I am filing a complaint with my financial institution, with the Complaintsboard.com and with the police department. This could have been resolved and avoided if this business practices better customer service and morale. Shame on them, on my father's death day.

Veterans DO NOT send your money to request your DD214 from DD214 Direct. When I requested my record, the site did not have verbiage in reference to the pandemic. It was not until after they received my 99 dollars did they send communication that there would be a delay. It has been months. I received an email. Here is a snippet of the verbiage I received from Chief Veteran Advocate, Steve May, "At the National Archives, your records are kept on actual paper in a manila folder in a man-made limestone cave in Illinois or in a building in Saint Louis. Retrieving your records requires a significant human supply chain. During normal non-pandemic times, this is handled in a matter of a few days by the hundreds of federal employees who work there. They are operating at 10-15% staffing levels and have already had at least one active COVID Infection." Then it goes on to request authorization to send a fax or letter to my US Congressperson and US Senators asking them that the NPRC at the National Archives open as an "essential" service. First of all, this is the most inconsiderate and ludicrous suggestion Steve the Advocate. I requested my funds to be returned and I received an email requesting that I sign off on a waiver. The waiver is requesting that I agree to seven different acknowledgements and understandings. I am not signing any document to get ALL of my funds returned for non-service. My fellow veterans DO NOT send DD214 Direct your money. Steve nor this company are Advocates of veterans. If there was a "no star" I would have selected that option. Taryn J

Money well spent! Thanking you is so simplistic to the real gratitude I have for the customer support and knowing that I'm supporting a Veteran owned business is the icing. I ordered my father's DD214 on the 16th of October and received the email copy on the 27th of October. When I placed the order I understood the turn around time could take a while because they have to get it from the government offices. So why go through these guys instead of going direct? I felt like they were looking out for my best interest and ensured I got my form as soon as possible, in essence they took out any hassles I would have had going at it by myself. And to prove this point after about a week of placing my order I emailed them asking for any updates and they quickly responded with an update without attitude or making me feel like I was bothering them. I've read the reviews people have left and even though some seemed a bit harsh (not judging, I understand everyone has opinions; but some were just very upset); but what stood out to me was the response from DD214 Direct and they weren't rude or trying to excuse poor performance. If they made a mistake they owned it and even went so far as to try and compensate. That spoke of a company that cares about their customers and how they are treated. I could write an epic novel on how grateful I am for this company, so I hoped that I conveyed how professional, courteous, helpful, and all around great they are. So again DD214 Direct ... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, times infinity for the best customer service and for being my security net in dealing with obtaining the DD214 for the interment of my mother (which is a trying time without the hassle of obtaining this sometime hard to get form).

This company deserves 0 stars, however that was not an option here. My father paid to receive his DD214's on 1/22. As of yesterday 10/28, he has yet to receive his documents. I spoke with the representative Louise one 10/27 and asked for a status update. To my surprise, I was informed that his request was still pending due to the lack of communication from the ***. When I asked how often the *** was contacted, I was given the following response. According to Louise, on 1/22, the company contacted both the *** and *** in reference to my father's request. She then stated that the company received a letter dated February 7th from ***, explaining that they did not have the records and they suggested that the *** be contacted. At this point I again asked for clarity, due to her previously stating that she had already reached out to the *** with the initial request (I do not believe that this occurred). She then stated that after they received the letter they contacted the *** again. No further contact attempts were made until July . I then asked her what other attempts had been made since July, considering that it was now October 28th, and she stated that she would send an email after our conversation. I immediately explained to her that this lack of communication and lack of advocacy on behalf of my father was unacceptable. Louise stated that she would contact her management team and calm back. She called a few hours later to report that the company's lawyers were having difficulty getting in contact with the *** and therefore, they approved a refund of my father's $79.00 initial payment. I communicated my frustration with this process, now that he has waited for 9 months and STILL does not have his DD214. We are now starting over and going through *** ourselves. This is a piss poor way to treat Veterans!

They first make it sound like its quick, which it is not. it is August 23rd and I still have no resolution. I will lose my job Saturday if I cant show them my DD214. DD214 DIrect had told me, after it took more than 2 weeks, that it was 5-6 weeks. We are coming in on 8 weeks and they have stopped responding to my emails. I called today and they give the boiler plate response of "we'll send it when we get it". This appears to be a scam that makes it look like you will get it quickly then they start telling about all the big delays and back ups...AFTER you pay 99 bucks and dont get a result. I desperately need my DD214 and this company has lied to me twice about estimated times so far.

After dozens of phone calls I was told repeatedly that it would take no more than 60 business days to receive my DD214 via email. It is currently over 80 business days and there have been no updates. I desperately need my DD214 for a medical procedure that is on hold. I have been given numerous excuses. This company does not care about veterans. They routinely tried to upsell me with other services during my phone calls with them. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told that someone would reach out to me. I paid $138 on June 9th to receive my archive military records. I saw an ad on their website saying they could send me the records within 5 weeks. I have not received the records. I contacted them and file a complaint and ask for a refund and they kept giving me the run around. I asked to speak to a manager but no one was available.
I used this company to order my DD214. It was $99. I ordered it on May 15th and was given an estimate of 10 working days. It's Aug 4th now and I still have nothing. On June 16 my *** Iwas told he needed to obtain a DD 214 form in order to receive his veterans benefits. We looked up DD 214 form and unfortunately it brought us to this business website. We filled out the information got done with it then was told we had to pay $99. We paid the $99 was told that we would hear back from them by July 7 2022. We never heard back from them we have sent numerous email messages and no one has contacted us. After waiting four weeks we found the government website and we refilled out the information and it is already being processed. All this company does is take your money and then you dont hear back from them.

They assured me over the phone that even though the *** pandemic had cut their staff done significantly, I would receive my DD214 in approximately 90 days. I followed up with emails on 12/14, and 12/16 of 2020 requesting a tracking number. I also emailed them on 1/26, 3/8, 3/10, 3/11, 3/12, 7/22 and a couple other times after that. The only answer I ever get is "Our veterans' advocates are currently researching your inquiry and will answer all your questions within *** hours". When it came time to put a bid in on a new home I was told my best bet would be through a VA loan. I couldn't get the loan without my DD214. I explained the urgency to DD214 Direct but still received no answer. I even paid an extra fee to get my forms expedited. I feel that I was taken advantage of by this company.

DD214DIRECT.COM Order reference # OL-123-456 Receipt # 789-2691 Delivery method- Digital Express Paid $99.00 for a service they said that would take 3-5 business days for the retrieval of my DD214 and they could do it faster than I could. It's been 25 business days and I'm getting the run around by customer service. I can't talk to any supervisors because they are not available, and I have been told a supervisor would contact me about my situation but no supervisor has contacted me.
Requested DD214 and was emailed a "NA13038" with missing information instead. Once I requested a refund I was told the "NA13038" was good enough and I wouldn't be receiving one. The problem is that this business specifically advertises that it provides DD214's.

The company still cannot produce the document and blame the government for the delay. I informed the company that I wanted my money back. I waited until after the 15 business days and contacted them by phone on status and they stated that they processed my request and it should be here "soon. It's now September 13th and I have not received it yet. I called again today and they said it is still being "processed" and the only ones that are expedited are the ones that are considered "emergencies". I went back to their website today and they have taken down the advertisement about the 3-15 day turn around. If I knew it was going to take this long I would have never paid to get it faster. If I cancel my order than I'll have to wait even longer. Bad business taking advantage of Veterans.

I ordered my DD214 and was given a time frame that has past. I emailed the company a couple times and they finally rellied. They said they're still locating the documents and also blamed Covid for backing up the government logs. The same email said I can take *** minutes of my time speakingbto a rep and my documents could be available within minutes. How does speakibg on the phone for an hour take away the "covid" back log and also let them magically locate my records that they've taken over a month looking for? I spent $99 to get the runaround. The only reason I didn't request it for free through the govt is because this company claimed to be quick until they get your money. I heard a certain govt site currently has a turnaround of 3 to 5 days. I'm definitely not satisfied with the poor service that hasn't been provided yet. I will delete this complaint if the company actually gets my records very soon. It's obviously possible if they can do it within minutes.

Acquired military records service on March 6, with delayed results
Acquired military records service on March 6. They advertised a quick turnaround, days or maybe longer due to the pandemic. At 30 days, I inquired about my records and was asked to be patient. At 60 days, I followed up and received the same response. At 75 days, I called and was told to wait and call back in two weeks if there was no update. At 90 days, I was informed that my digital signature seemed illegitimate. I had signed with my finger on an iPad, which explains the discrepancy. Today, I learned they resubmitted my urgent request due to the signature issue and will send a paper for a handwritten signature. Despite my efforts, I was told there's no one with authority to expedite the process and was asked for more patience. My patience has worn thin, and I am desperately seeking assistance.

In September , I purchased a new car
In September , I purchased a new car. While the paperwork was being completed, I was asked if I was a military veteran and my answer was Yes. The dealership needed a copy of my DD214 to give the military discount. So I went home, thought I knew where it was but could not located it. I searched the internet to find a way to get a copy of my DD214. I found a contact with the name DD214 Direct. The website AND the people said I should have this in a couple of weeks. I placed an order on September 28 and as of today, July 26 I have not received the copy. I paid around $160 for a copy of this. In the meantime, I went back to the car dealership and told them I had been unable to locate my documents at home and that I had ordered copies, and based on what DD214 Direct to me, I should have my copies in 2 or 3 weeks. I have been in touch with them on numerous occasions. First they blamed it on the pandemic. Now they are claiming it was lost. I may lose my loan disc.

I paid $138 to receive what they specifically list on their website. *** points, DD256, and an additional paid service for my OMPF they offered for an extra fee. These are all military documents in military archives which as an individual would take months of trips to these military locations to sign out the records. Instead of DD214 direct retrieving these documents they claim to supply including the additional charge for my OMPF they sent me a generic copy from the national archives which basically the only service they provided was they took a trip to any VA medical location and only got a VA version one page service record. The document is useless not official and they never provided the services they were paid to do. I've tried by email on June 14th and June 15th to contact DD214 Direct about whether they are retrieving the documents specifically requested in the purchase without any reply or explanation why there's no military records from actual military sources.

RECENTLY, MY WIFE WAS INFORMED WE'D HAVE AN UPDATE SOON, BUT AFTER 48 HOURS OF SILENCE, THEY COULDN'T PROVIDE A TIMELINE. WE'VE BEEN WAITING WITHOUT ANY ESTIMATE. DESPITE COVID CHALLENGES, I'VE MANAGED TO SELL A HOUSE AND FINALIZE A DIVORCE ONLINE IN 35 DAYS. IF THEY CAN'T DELIVER THE REQUESTED INFORMATION, I DEMAND A FULL REFUND. THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND COMMUNICATION IS FRUSTRATING AND UNACCEPTABLE.

On June 13, 2022 I paid this company $99.00 to obtain a copy of my DD214 discharge record. They advertise they can get it faster and easier than an individual can. I needed this document for a VA home loan. The confirmation email I received from them stated that they would have the document within *** business days with a delivery date range of June 27th to July 4th. I also filed a request for this document myself from the *** via online request on June 13th. After several phone calls to this company and being told it was being processed I called the *** several times. On July 18 I called *** and spoke to a young lady who put my request as "high priority, time sensitive". When i checked online for the status of my request approximately 3-4 hours later it showed that the request had been processed and I would receive the document in 3-5 business days. On July 19 I again called DD214 direct and was told that a supervisor would be looking into my request the same day. I was again told that this was the fastest and easiest way to obtain my military record. I explained to the women that I had also requested the document on the same day that they filed a request and that I had a digital copy of my DD214 in my email inbox that morning. At that time I said I wanted my money back and was told that a representative from the reimbursement department would look into my request and I might have a refund in *** hours.I think this company is taking advantage of veterans when they need it most. I have found several Complaintsboard.com complaints from others that have had similar experiences with DD214 direct.

I used my credit card to pay for this service.Order number OL-*** was created.On June 14th I followed up. They advised I should be patient. I followed up numerous times over the next four months.Oct 1st I followed up again and they recommended I be patient. I then requested a refund. They sent me a form to complete and returned the same day. I also included a note in my email requesting a check be mailed to my home address. This is due to the original credit card used had been compromised and Chase provided a new / replacement card.Oct 28th I spoke with customer service to obtain an update. She escalated to her manager and requested I be provided an update by noon the following day. NO RESPONSE Nov 2nd I spoke with customer service rep *** Once again she escalated to her manager and requested an email with update be provided by noon Nov 3rd. NO RESPONSE Nov 5th I spoke with customer service rep *** Once again she escalated to her manager and requested an email with update be provided by end of business Nov 5th. Received voice mail message from ***, DD214 manager, Requesting I once again reach out to *** to determine if my credit card received the reimbursement on Oct 2nd. He also advised he would call back on Monday Nov 8th. NO RESPONSE Nov 10th I spoke with customer service rep *** Provided update regarding Chase never receiving my refund. She immediately escalated to ***. NO RESPONSE as of Nov 11th. As of today I have given up on this companies ability to provide customer service to include mailing me a check for my refund. I am a veteran of a distinguished Army. Last year, on November 12, I paid a company $139 to find the long form of my military separation document along with associated discharge papers ($100 for the main document, $39 for the other papers). They promised expedited delivery. Six days later, they gave me a PDF with multiple discharge-related documents but not the main one I needed for a VA Home Loan. They stalled for 8 months, citing government paperwork issues and COVID-related staff shortages. Last week, I paid another firm to find the document, and they delivered in less than 24 hours! Initially, I applied for a VA home loan to buy a property I was renting for $150,000. In November , I was quoted a certain percentage interest rate for a 30-year fixed loan with monthly payments of about $871. Now, due to the first company's delay, the best rate I can get has increased my monthly payment to about $1,216 for the same term. Over 30 years, that's $124,200 extra I'll pay because of the first company's failure. They misrepresented their services and failed to deliver my documents on time, costing me significantly. They still haven't sent the document I ordered. Had they fulfilled their service promptly, I'd have my home with a monthly payment of $871. I believe the company owes me a portion of the $124,200 for their misrepresentation and delays. I have all correspondence for reference. Please advise on my next steps. Thank you.
