I am so disapponted in the scam carnival has with diamonds int'l and will get my money back if it is the last thing I do. I was pressured to buy an item with diamonds international and the response I got was that they could not give me my money back because of buyer's remorse. What? I took this item to my jeweler and he also is willing to place into writing that this item had a clasp that was defective, which I did not know until I paid for another appraisal for this piece. He advised me never to wear this bracelet until I have it fixed (this item is 4 days old, mind you) because it will fall off of my wrist. This item is not as it was stated to me - the color & clarity are not as good as di has stated-in other words, they are not accurate. The appraisal that we received from di was given higher marks than it should have been given. I was taken for a ride, so they say in the usa. My jeweler is a highly trained professional (master benchmark jeweler), so I know that I have been misrepresented by carnival and diamonds international and will persue this to the fullest extent of the law. I will not accept your response and will take this to a higher level. We will be in dispute with di through ppi group, (like everyone else after I have read the fraud reports about diamonds international) which is about useless because after looking on the back of my receipt, I see that they will only take merchandise back for store credit and I have also read that if they do agree to this that somehow diamonds have been "lost" in the mail even though they have been insured and sent via certified mail. How is this so? (I can trust them to not "lose" my diamond to give me what I am paying for?). I am willing to drive to new york to get my money back. Di is trying to wear people down so we'll just give up and accept their store credit offer. I'm in for the long-haul. I will not give up fighting. I will contact the states attorneys general, the better business bureau, and post their names all over the internet if they do not give me my money back. I will also open up a claim with my credit card company. I was told that 'buyer's remorse' was not an excuse for a return? Are they kidding me? If you buy a dress and then decide to take it back a month later you are perfectly within your rights to do that. Now if that dress is defective and misrepresented to the buyer I think you have a case for a lawsuit if they do not honor that return. We as cruise ship passengers should be protected under the laws of the united staes, but it seems as though we were at the mercy of the unfair laws of wherever you buy the merchandise. We were also assured by the carnival "expert jemologist" that di was based out of new york and that we were indeed protected by us laws. Not true. He warned us of the dangers of buying overseas from unscrupulous shopowners. Little did we know that we were being scammed by carnival and diamonds international.
Will I sail with carnival again? Probably not. Will I ever purchase anything of value overseas again? No! Diamonds international? Absolutley not and I will tell everyone I know! Read all of the threads! Buyer beware!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Please, how is it DI's fault that you bought a bad product?
You are an idiot; so cure for stupid, even if it is the 'last thing you do'.
Sad to see that it has happend to a lot of people, in a similar situation now and would like to know how yours ended. they sold me a diamond that was appraised for 300 less then what they sold it to me for. They have offered a store credit - not planing on going to the islands any time soon...
DI' is selling crap and apraising it for more than its worth and stating false claims.
I am afraid that I am going to be in the same "boat" as you are. I went on a Carnival Cruise last week and visited the Nassau, Bahamas store. I traded in my diamond and yellow gold band for $1600 toward the purchase of a "Crown of Light" diamond ring, store value of $5400 - putting the difference on my Visa card to be paid for when I returned home. I returned home and had my ring appraised so that I could have it insured. Imagine my shock and horror when the appraiser told me it was worth $2900! I don't believe the ring that I have is the actual ring that I purchased. The weight of the ring and the "grade" of the center diamond are different than the papers that were given to me when I purchased the ring.
I called customer service yesterday and no one is there because its the weekend. I have posted a question to "Dr. Diamond" on the DI blog (here's the address: http://diamondsinternational.info/ask-dr-diamond-your-question-here-4/#comment-470). I have not received an answer yet.
I am with you! They have never dealt with the likes of this pit bull. When I start something I stick with it to the end. I am going to chomp down on them with the jaws of a pit bull and I will not release until they refund me the difference in appraisal or exchange the ring that I currently have for a ring that has a true value of $5400.
I would like to know if you have had any luck with resolving your problem with DI? Please send me any pointers that you have learned since this first began for you.

I want to get a class action suit going. mysafetycounts @yahoo.com
i too ripped off. paid $11500 for a crown of light supposedly 70%off. my GIA appriaser valued it at $8100 but all the diamonds are poor quality. the appriasal diamonds international give is false! Worse, all the diamonds are loose. i cannot wear it without remaking the entire ring at a cost of $2000. i hope not of the POOR quality diamonds break in the process. what a dissappointment Royal Caribbean associates themselves with Diamonds International. Scam Artists International is who they really are!
m.n. ontario canada march 2011 cruise on the allure of the sea.
They are the worst company to deal with and they are what everyone says they are. Another scam company is Korite International who sells their product in the DI stores. Don't Buy! Maybe one of these days both will go out of business.
I too would like to know of anyone who has been successful in obtaining a refund and any tips they could provide me.
Have you ever received any info on your question? I do believe the same just happens to me just got back yesterday
If you paid with a credit card, call the credit card company and they will help you. I would also file a complaint with the NEW YORK ATTORNEY GENERALS office and BBB. I've been dealing with BELLA which is a supervisor, she is totally worthless. We purchased a crown of light and had it put in one of their settings and the very next day I lost one of the stones and there is currently another one missing, we spend almost $24, 000 dollars on this ring. I would write to the CEO of the cruise line and let them know what happened. I am in the process of writing to Carnival Cruise Lines about my experience with these people. DO A SEARCH FOR DIAMONDS INTERNATIONAL COMPLAINTS and you will see all kinds of stuff. I am going to post on every website I can find and I am going to comment on all YOUTUBE videos and I am going to post on the Cruise Lines website under FUNVILLE. I suggest EVERYONE that has had a bad experience with this company POST everywhere you can to get the word out there.
EVERYBODY that posts on this website about DIAMONDS INTERNATIONAL needs to file a complaint with the NEW YORK ATTORNEY GENERALS office and the BBB. The attorney generals office will investigate.
I would like to contact any of the people who were ripped off by Diamonds International, as I too was ripped off recently. I have filed a complaint with New York State Attorney General's office, but have not heard anything yet. I am too embarrassed to even say the HUGE amount of money involved, much, much more than any other of the people who were scammed by DI. Any tips on success would be greatly appreciated. Did anyone have contact with the NY Attorney's office, and if so, were they helpful? Thank you.

Hello! I have not read the thread to my original post since I wrote it and I apologize! I was able to settle with DI. I had to get really nasty with them. I copied my correspondence to my travel agent, to Carnival Cruise Lines, to Diamonds International, and to anyone else that I contacted. I had to find an independent jewelry appraiser that was in no way connected to a retail - not an easy thing to do! I found Kim Pirracci in North Carolina. I sent the DI ring to her and she appraised it for HALF of what I bought it for - which is what the jeweler in my hometown had appraised it for as well. Once I received an appraisal from her I was able to get moving with DI. I faxed all of the information that I had gathered and was eventually told that I could get my original ring (I had traded in my diamond wedding band in and "upgraded" to their ring) back along with credit to my credit card. I did not sit on this. I did my homework (I just wish that I had done it ahead of my trip instead of after it!). I promised Carnival Cruise Line and Diamonds International that they had never experienced the likes of Guerrilla Marketing like they were going to experience with me. My husband is is a Marketing Specialist and we had already planned on being on YouTube, Face Book, My Space, and any other social media network that we could find. We were going to take an ad out in the Charleston, SC newspaper warning tourists that would be boarding the Carnival cruise ship, and our travel agent had agreed to forward our letters and complaints to his network of travel agents - which number in the thousands - all across the country! Eventually I received my original ring and did receive a credit. I am still bitter about all of this! Carnival is just as guilty as DI is...their shopper even met us at the DI store and witnessed our purchase! We felt that we were being protected by Carnival by having him there with us. The whole thing is a scam! If you know anyone that is planning on going on a vacation to the islands, PLEASE warn them about this scam. Yes, the buyer should always beware...however, they are preying on people who are in a relaxed, romantic, devil-may-care state of mind and they are cheating good people out of hard earned money. My advice is DON'T GIVE UP AND GET BACK WHAT IS RIGHTFULL YOURS!
Here is the link for the independent appraiser that I used. She was so kind and helpful. Please use her if you are able to get to that point in your negotiations with DI.

I would like to give you an update on my complaint with Diamonds International. I was able to return the ring with a full credit! Only after my many many calls, faxes, emails and complaints to Carnival Cruise Lines, New York Better Business Bureau, Jewelers Vigilance Committee - JoAnn Sperano, Credit Card Services, Experian, Equifax, & TransUnion Credit Card Bureaus, New York State Department - Division of Consumer Protection, Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, Consumer Complaint Agency, Consumer Affairs, Federal Trade Commission, New York Department of Consumer Affairs - Commissioner Jonathan Mintz, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Arnold Diaz - WNYW - TV - Shame Shame Shame, Duke Law School - Pro Bono Project - Consumer Rights, Erin Brockovich - Consumer Rights Attorney. AND anybody else that I thought could HELP get the satisfaction I was looking for!
If you are a customer of Diamonds International and feel as though you are getting NO where...DO NOT STOP! My contact at Diamond International was Bella and in the beginning I was told DI could not help me. I stand by my persistence and firmly believe that is what got my desired results! However I firmly believe that DI should be investigated and held to a higher standard because they rip unknowing customers off by millions of dollars!
Did you use your own credit card or did DI open one for you?
So I bought a ring and need help getting my money back. I have called, sent all my appraisal info to PPIgroup, did a dispute with my credit card company.
I just want to be done-any help you can give me?
thank you i agree with you I am in the same situation as you were I have been told many times by everyone I will not get any satisfaction from them because they are professional scammers and too large to fight! mokitom42 @gmail.com
Way to go Ruthless Racing! I am proud of you. I am sorry that you had to learn the hard way - just like I did. I am very proud of you for staying with it and getting back what is yours! I only hope that your hard work will make a difference in someone's life!
I am also dealing with Bella right now. Thus far, I have insisted on money refund and she offered for either repair or replacement, which I have declined. Not sure what else I should do to speed up the process. I have also started the dispute process with my credit card company. Any advice you can offer, it would be great.
My husband and I purchased a 19.5 ct tanzanite bracelet from DI in Cozumel. Also, got caught up in the romance of the cruise with Carnival. Bought for $4, 000.00 and got back and it is not worth but 1/2. I am in the process of getting some type of refund for 1/2 my money back. Probably not much lunch in that. But EVERYONE needs to know that DI is OVER RATED and OVER PRICED and Carnival needs to stop promoting this type of purchasing with their cruisers. This are as much to blame as DI.
Di ripped me off as well. 4/8/2016 bate and swich. AND the ring is worth 1/2 the money/ mmcnuts@aol.com
I am surprised they still able to do business with such number of complains. Shouldn't the fraud protection agencies be on this already.
Me and my wife had bought several places from di over the last 6 or so years. And do agree that they are over priced. We bought a neackles with blue diamond on our first trip to nassa. We liked the design and look
It was few years back when blue diamonds were not common on regular retail chains.
We just got back from the cruse with norvegiean and bought a matching earrings from them and I am so disappointed. No, they look good and everything but I was in mayci today, and saw similar setup for half the price. We are not talking anything like most people here,
The neackless cost about 1200 and the earrings 980. But it it the principle of the matter. Why a business can lie and defraud you lime this. The items are too small to be concerned abouy stone quality or anything like that, but price scam should be punished.
I am representing friends of mine who were sold US$45, 000 worth of items with a real value of $800. The fake confidence given to them by the cruise company makes them culpable as well. I'm working on a class-action lawsuit. Who would be interested?
I can only give you my alternate email since I cannot involve my work. If you are interested please tell me your name, cruise company, purchase price of goods, location purchased, and the outcome of any complaint.
Skinnydipper13@hotmail.com
I am not an attorney but am gathering evidence to determine if MY attorney would be interested in this case if there are enough parties to make it a class-type suit.
I spent 10, 000 for a ring they said was worth 15, 000 appraised for 8100. It was not even the diamond we looked at, but we were handed the paperwork as we walked out, so I didn't look at it. It was not a VS D as we were looking at but a VS 1 H. So disappointed, I want my money back.
I would be interested in a class action suit
Anytime call me!
I certainly would be interested, I got screwed also!
I would be interested also.
I am also intersted in a class action lawsuit! mokitom42@gmail.com
Dealing with this mess right now - they [censored]ed me over royally. I am interested in a class action lawsuit.
My sister & I are also interested in a class action suit theladyavalon@gmail.com.
Kidnapped by Diamonds International store manager. They didn’t put a gun to our heads, but after we allowed them to run a credit report to see if we qualified for their 60 month interest free in store credit they refused to return our driver licenses until we agreed to make a purchase and signed for the purchase. My sister was looking to upgrade her diamond studs, I wasn’t planning on buying anything. The store manger at the Ketchikan AK store had told us they would be running a soft credit report & that if for any reason we needed to return any purchase we could for 90 days no questions asked. She ended up with a pair of their Crown of Light diamond earrings when all she wanted was simple studs. I didn’t want anything & was sure I wouldn’t qualify (I had tried for a small limit regular credit card only a couple of months before & didn’t qualify), but because it was a “soft report” didn’t see the harm in letting them check. I was shocked when I was informed that I qualified for a $7000 line of credit. When I asked how it was possible the store manager, David Sousan, told us “we own the bank, they do what we tell them to do. They are nothing but high pressure criminals! I contacted customer service and was told they only allow exchanges or in store credit. I tried to return the earrings, but they refused to accept them. I have now filed a complaint with the NYS Attorney General’s office & the BBB. We were in the store for 3 hours, we spent over two of those hours asking for our driver licenses back!
I was also scammed I have something that I did not look at, had I was kidnaped by the store for 3 hours while they have my ID while pumping us up with champagne and beer, forcing these guarantees of being able to have 30 days to return. I even had a panic attack while in the store. And never forget our boy jack who work for the Carnival Cruise line "that kelp stopping back in to inform for you that's this is the best investment you can make trust me" while I'm telling him they have our ID and we needed to go oh Jack on Carnival Cruise "we have plenty of time" they also did not give me what I looked at with ear studs that they wait 2 more hours to give me. At this point, I felt I had to sign just to get me Id back. And still had to return two more hours later to get the diamond studs. While the stud that I had on he went to clean to thinking they may have a switch that to, Going to Appraisal tomorrow, really after reading all this, I know the answer. Need Help what to Do anyone. #carnivalcruise #jackcarnivalcruise #carnivalcruisescam carnival cruise line get money for people to set us up and scam all week seminars, Drinks, make us feel that we can trust us and rob us for everything they can I feel that is wrong after saying no for hours. I feel raped in a since. #thankscarnivalcruise
