power outage
We have been without power since Sunday. Our location is 5455 10th Street Zephyrhills Fl 33542. The city cleaned up a downed tree today by 5:30pm. Crews were supose to come fix downed lines. For the second night in a row crews have stopped work at or bt 6:30pm. Only trucks in the area were spotted at a bar in town. I have sleep apnea and must have power. Been up 5 nights now affraid to sleep in fear I may never wake. Lost all food and out of money and gas to go anywhere. Other companies are working around the clock elsewhere. I don't understand this. Are we not as important as anyone else? If I die or end up in a hospital a lawsuit will be filed. Along with pics of trucks at a bar and not working.
duke restoration of power
We lost power Sunday night during hurricane Irma. Today is Thursday and still don't have power. While I understand that a lot of people were affected, I waited patiently in my home with no power, no generator and it being Florida ( hot as hell)! I haven't eaten or slept in days. My problem is everywhere you look around in my area everyone has power except my small neighborhood. It doesn't make sense to me! Why if everyone around us has power why don't my neighborhood?
electric service / lack thereof
I understand that hurricane Irma caused a considerable amount of damage throughout Florida, but NOT in my area. I live in Land O Lakes, FL and every other electric company has restored service in the neighborhoods surrounding ours (even the small co-ops - many of their customers never even lost service!), but not Duke Energy. They had initially said by Friday 9/15 at midnight, but now it's "I don't know". There was no catastrophic damage in our area and no downed lines. So why are we still without? Even if a transformer was damaged, it really shouldn't take this long to fix if crews are "working around the clock". I don't fault linesman or crews for this, I fault Dukes lack of planning and preparation for what it takes to service customers in Florida.
hi there
Its been 2 days since the people across the street from us got there power back on. they should have stayed and got ours back on. its easier to get things fixed if you bundle all the work into big sections, with more people working. Thames st clearwater fl. Part of a tree is on transformer. The repiar crews saw it every day, and keep driving away its not right to fix a transformer on one side of road, and not the other side. We got to sleep in car its so hot at night. Not that you care. Your a big company where money and [censored] politics come first.
no power
We have been out of electric power since Sunday September 10 at our home. We have called and been told that we may have no power until end of October and to rent a house. This is unacceptable to treat victims of hurricane in this way. We have drove around and we do not see any of Duke Energy trucks working to restore power. I am certain that their staff is busy with their own family and friends in cleaning up after the hurricane but we as customers should be serviced too. So many years we lived in this State and this town and we have never seen such lack of care and derelict of duty. We always saw trucks of progress energy and FL power immediately after a hurricane hard at work repairing down lines even to whey hours of night and early mornings. We are very disappointed and will continue to voice our concern. No one in our immediate area in Treasurer island FL has power.
service issues
I have been without Energy at my home for A week now the companies they will be out Friday and service will be restored Friday I call today. They state that now service won't be repaired to Sunday so we have to wait for a nother full week of service I complain to the company and they are not doing anything about service being out I have even seen workers sleeping n trucks there are down wore in my back yard and no one has come out to fix no updates have been given all my food is gone and all my thing n my home are destroyed
power
How is it possible that every neighborhood but ours in a major tourist area is still without power. Literally every block around us have power but we have to wait until Sunday!?!? Duke has no good excuse for this. I understand Irma did a lot of damage but why is it taking this long?! Please be more diligent in connecting with your customers. I feel like duke is not trying hard enough.
electric
Duke Energy you have
proven to be the worst electric company that is out there you have no business being in Florida you have no knowledge of what the heck you're doing get out of our state get somebody that knows what they're doing you are driving people and families crazy you have no concern or care all your customer service does is hang up on us
Your commercials are so good that you tell us how you'll have thousands of workers ready I haven't seen one Duke Energy nobody not one Wireman no wonder all you see is Darkness get your [censored] moving especially out of state of Florida we have no business being here get out
power outages
This is the slowest most disorganized response i have ever been witness to. There is zero damage to any lines anywhere around my house or my entire neighborhood. A simple transformer fix shouldn't take 7 days. That is the quote we were given. Absolutely disorganized and pathetic response to fixing residential power outages. This was a known issue that should have elicited a much swifter response. I wish we weren't under an electric company monopoly and could choose a company that cares about its customers.
I hate to assume things, but based on the date this was written and the location, I am under the impression that your power outage was a result of the hurricane. If this is the case, even though you may not have down lines in your neighborhood, the power companies are dealing with a massive crisis all around your area. They are asking their employees to put in a ton of overtime and working very hard, as well as bringing in workers from far away, to try and deal with the massive demand. Unfortunately for you, it is partially due to the fact that you have nothing seriously dangerous, like down power lines, that is probably the reason for the extended wait time...They have to deal with cases that pose serious danger and have to work on fixing the more major problems first, as they should because safety is the first priority here. The massive amount of damage to lines and the power infrastructure is going to take awhile to fix and when millions of people are out of power, they have to make certain situations a higher priority than others.Imagine you went to the doctors office for a sore throat and you are waiting to be seen by the doctor, when all of a sudden someone comes in with symptoms of a heart attack or stop breathing. The doctors are going to work on the patient first because it requires immediate attention and they need their entire staff to help them stabilize this person. Even though you are there first, and your sore throat would be quicker and easier for them to deal with, you understand that due to the critical state the other person is in, that you will have to wait longer for your turn. I know not having power is the worst, but on the upside, you are lucky that you have zero damage to any lines by your house because once they finish with the more critical situations, hopefully your power will be an easy thing for them to fix. I'm not trying to be rude or condescending, however I assure you, in situations and crises like a hurricane, the people working at the power companies are working overtime and getting very little sleep or time off.
electric
New acct setup on 9/11 due to electricity being cutoff due to inactive acct. We were told power would be turned on by 9pm on 9/12. Someone came out after 10am on 9/12 but they were unable to turn on because power needed to be turned on at "riser". They advised it would still be turned on same day by 9pm. I called at 8:55, and they assured it would turned on that evening at some point. I called again around 11pm and was advised that the ticket was closed, but no one knows why. New ticket setup and someone would come out after midnight. Called back around 4:30am and spoke to supervisor. They owned mistake and they spoke to dispatch. We were high priority, but higher priority took presidence. I get it. Supervisor advised worse case, a new crew is coming in in a couple of hours without assignments and would be over. Still no power at 11am on 9/13. Called and spoke to another supervisor att 11am. She submitted request again and told me it would be turned on by 9pm and that's the best she could do. She didn't know why other people gave me the timeframes they did. She said she would keep me updated by phone and stay close to this ticket. 8 hours later, and I still haven't heard from her. It's 7pm now let's see if they show. Duke couldn't care less about their customers. Unfortunately they are the only electricity provider in charlotte so it doesn't matter if they follow through.
9:40 no power and they said it's still scheduled for tonight. They commit to 8a-9p, but aren't held accountable. If I was advised up front that it could be 2-3 days or more due to storm damage in other areas, that's understandable, but that was never communicated. Duke, be accountable and give a damn.
power out
Power out still for 4 days I am a federal business office. Will take picture of meter as you will try to pro rate it dont try it math and ipad dont lie you were not ready for any storms progress energy had 3 storms to your one this month sept 11 2017 tampa electric smaller company has done a better job then you. Very sad will file federal charges on your company and more people in pinellas county will as well. Patricia a billings federal office st pete 3039 11 ave n st petersburg fl [protected]
pinellas county power
So power has been out since Irma went through 3 days ago. Keep hearing claims of 9, 000 workers being out in Pinellas county restoring power, but I don't see how that's possible. I have to drive throughout the county on a daily basis and have seen a total of 1 duke truck, that was sitting at a stop light. No workers actually doing anything. Governors report has listed the same number of outages in Pinellas for the last 2 days. Duke Energy is full of crap and clearly doesn't know what they are doing!
horrible setup
I was with Duke for over 4 years and never had an issue; I got a bill and I paid it through my bank.
I recently moved and to my surprise, all sorts of issues came up. I used their online system "Cobra, " which I say run away from if at all possible. This is the last thing I have time for and it is at the point where I am beyond aggravated and others should be warned prior to receiving a bunch of crap return fees. If I had the option to go with another provider, here I say what a monopoly, I would. This is the worst BS and that's is putting it lightly. Duke energy is horrible with customer service and with how they handle resolution. Only one word can describe Duke Energy and that Disgusted.
unreasonable billing for this month's billing
My account is [protected] and address is 2442 Selwyn Ave. Charlotte, NC 28209. Name is Steven Chandler Berry. I have been accessed for the amount of energy this past month for $ 532.64. My bill has never been over 98.00 for the past 6 years of which I have resided and lived in my 1300 sq. foot condo at King William on Selwyn. Ave.
I am alarmed. And know this is a huge error. Please contact me ASAP at [protected] to discuss this matter and rectify at once. I have auto payment plan each month and I was not prepared for this huge amount of 5 times the normal monthly cost. I therefore was put into overdraft on my banking account due to this error. I have talked with my neighbors in the condos complex and no other person had the experience. I am shocked that this happened. This was more that my rent payment!
I expect a return call in the am as of the new work week on Sept. 5, 2017.
trouble getting the meter and power lines removed.
my husband and I had double wide trailer rental at 14704 e 156th noblesville indiana. there was a fire on 5/20/2017. the damages were great and we decided not to rebuild. the renter has moved. she did have the power stopped. we having the trailer demolition. we need the meter and overhead power lines removed. we have tried since 8/11/2017. I called duke and was told to send a fax with various information to duke energy attn: the help desk. I did so on 8/11/2017. on 8/14/2017 I got a call from patty - duke energy service installation - left a voicemail to ask if we want to remove meter and overhead power lines. I called her back and left a message to say yes remove both the meter and power lines. nothing in going into that area. we wanted until 8/25/2017 to call again. told duke that the meter and power lines were still there. told it should be only a 3 day window for order to get done. asked to put in order again. on 8/29/2017 - tues - called since the meter and power lines were sill there. called on patty's # and was told I needed to talked to another area - they transfered me to [protected]. was told done by weds. on 9/1/2017 the meter and power lines are still there. my husband called duke. first [protected]. he went thru everything and asked why not done. did not get anywhere. asked to talk to supervisor. was told all were gone early due to the holiday. he left his cell phone # for supervior to call him. we then thought to call patty - duke energy services installation - [protected] ex 5378. not available. my husband talked to another person. asked for a supervisor. none available. we need this to be done so we can get the final inspected of the area after all is done and demo is complete. since this is labor day weekend, we will not here anything until next tuesday. this is just ridiculous. we do not know what else to do but file a complaint and talk with supervision.
unsafe vehicle
Yesterday, August 30, I was in a vehicle on I-40 travelling to Wilmington when something flew out of the back of a Duke Energy truck and struck the windshield of the vehicle is was in. We were right behind the vehicle about
60 -70 feet or so. The object that struck our vehicle appeared to be some sort of plastic type of corner board... not really sure of what it was. It did not break the windshield, fortunately but the impact was quite loud! I have a picture of this vehicle with a vague shot of the license plate. He saw that I was trying to take a picture with my phone. The vehicle then exited off of Exit 325, perhaps thinking we might follow him and was probably going to see if there was any damage to our vehicle. I think his intentions were good. However, I just wanted someone at Duke Energy to be aware of this incident. Anything in the back of a vehicle that might have a tendancy to blow out should be tied down. A short while later, the truck passed us and I was able to see with quite certainty that the last 3 numbers on the plate were 361 and the first 3 letters might have been EPT (of this I am not certain). These were Iowa tags. Given the location of this vehicle and the last 3 numbers of the plate might give you some indication of which employee was driving.
More than anything, this scared the daylights out of us. I do hope your employees will be remind to tie down any lightweight objects in their trucks that could possible blow onto vehicles behind them.
Thank you~

extreme highlight deposit
Moved from north side of town (suburb) to the south side (to the them the hood). I went from a 137$ - $430. I have 2 sisters that it happend to and they were able to get a discount. I request a discount and can't even speak to a manager or supv. Rude customer service and I've been a 10 yr customer. I now have to get sum type of state assistance and I'm disabled. This company only cares about 💰💰💰💰 it certainly doesn't care about the customers
automatic bank draft
-Date of Incident: 8/24/2017
-Account number: [protected]
After being a couple days late for paying my electric bill in July 2017, I decided to setup Automatic Bank Draft as my billing option for Duke Energy, so my payments could be debited every month. I paid my July bill by Checking debit and proceeded to setup the same information for a recurring draft.
On 8/23 when returning home from vacation, I received a letter in the mail from Duke Energy that my electronic payment has been returned by my bank, and now I have to pay a $30 draft fee (Florida Statute 68.065) and need to pay by money order, cash or cashier's check.
I called Duke Energy on 8/23 and was told by the telephone associate that my bank account info was incorrect. She was not able to verify the account details I submitted when setting up the automatic draft.
I called Duke Energy again on 8/24 to speak with a supervisor, after finding that there was no way for me to access the automatic draft details to confirm that my checking account number was wrong. The supervisor told me that I was unable to see that information online, and he was unable to provide it to me because it's not available in his system. Due to this issue, I'm also now banned from using the automatic draft service for 12 months.
According to Duke, there is no remediation for this issue. I am not able to verify the mistake, I'm forced to pay the $30 draft fee, and can't use automatic draft for 12 months. This is not fair, and bullying.
My desire resolution is to get the $30 fee waived and have access to automatic draft again.
reconnection and bill
We have paid our bill which was passed due and had been disconnected for non payment. I tried calling the automatic system but their system was down and we could Not make a payment over the phone! I then had to look for a payment center which we got there 5 minutes after 5:00 pm which means I was told to pay an extra $80! For them to come out that night. It's middle of August 90degree weather, I have a 5 year old child I can't fix him a warm meal my food is going spoiled! And they said nothing they can do and that I have to wait till midnight before my lights are back on!
I can't do nothing but wait. Families with children and elderly should be put on the priority list to have their lights turn back on immediately! I hope this company goes out of business it's the worse company no customer service and they don't care about people.
employee
While at a local convenience store Buddy Mart on East Taylor and Apperson Way I noticed a brown skin female in a small meter reading truck rolling a marijuana joint inside the Duke truck. I asked a friend who she was? I was told Jamea Parker. I find it very unprofessional and unsafe to others that an employee is representing Duke on the clock using drugs while out in public high. How does one get hired? With drugs in their system? Is it ok to have drugs in their possession while driving the company vehicle? Concerned customer in Kokomo Indiana
