Dear Sirs
I am writing to express my disgust as to the treatment of my wife and her wheelchair dependent mother with whom she was travelling.
They arrived at the Collection and Return point at approx.3.15 on the 16th of November.
The two men and women who attended to them were superficially friendly and my wife took her mother to the toilet and the man said it was good to leave everything in the car.
When they had finished, the same man said there was something wrong with a Tyre-and showed a zoomed in photo of a chip on red paint .The car they hired was BLACK. When there was nothing wrong obviously with the Tyre, he then went out again and returned saying that there was a chip on the windscreen.
My wife is a meticulous person and had washed the windscreen several times and is adamant that there was no chip before. The minute chip that was shown to her was right in the drivers vision and she would have noticed it and heard an impact.
Given that when hiring the only two things mentioned not covered were tyres and windscreen and that an admistration fee of £75 would be charged for any other damage. This leads one to the conclusion that this would appear to be a set up possibly motivated by some form of bonus.
Also it is common knowledge that the repair cost of a minute chip is minimal and the damage can be effected very easily.
My conclusion is that it was done deliberately taking advantage of two vulnerable women. Too much of a coincidence.
Unless you see fit to remedy the situation I shall pass the information on to the Police and the Fraud Squad recommending that they investigate the Stansted Distributon Centre with a particular emphasis on reviewing all extra charges enforced relating to windscreen damage.
My wife was left in a state of shock after the incident .
I hope that you see fit to treat this matter seriously.
Yours sincerely
William Holmes
The information is posted on the Complaintsboard.com site because we have had no relevant response from the Stansted Office to whom we made our complaint.
They only sent a Receipt which included the dubious Overcharge.
Taking advantage of two vulnerable women(One in a Wheelchair) is about as low as you can get.
The staff who effected this should be dismissed.
