Worst insurance company ever!
Worst insurance company ever! My mortage company paid on two policy accidently. I explained to Edison what happened. They requested supporting documentation which they received. Once they received everything they denied my refund. Had to get an attorney involved.
This company needs to be shut down
This company needs to be shut down. The agent gets you to send relevant documentation, then offers a quote. You start paying the premium and then they cancel you with little or no time to get coverage while you are in a hurricane season. They are not honest about their operation.
I bought and paid for a policy from Edison Insurance Company for a whole year
I bought and paid for a policy from Edison Insurance Company for a whole year. However, when hurricane season started, they suddenly canceled my policy with only one week's notice. They claimed that my home had aluminum wires, even though I had already replaced them months ago with a proper permit. When I contacted them to discuss the situation, they firmly stated that their decision was final and that fixing the wiring problem would not make a difference. As a result, I had to scramble to find another insurance company in the middle of hurricane season.

It's been 74 days since Hurricane *** hit, and I've had three adjusters from Edison Insurance come to assess the damage. However, they haven't shared the adjusters' work sheets with me, FEMA, or the mortgage company. The senior adjuster doesn't respond to my phone calls or emails, and it's really frustrating. This whole situation is making me feel sick. I filed my claim the day after the hurricane, which was 74 days ago. It seems like they want me to hire a lawyer to prolong this process for over a year. It just doesn't make any sense.
Terrible company, rates increased yearly
Terrible company, rates increased yearly. I had an issue with a few shingles broken and some wind damage. They sent a "claims specialist" who didn't have a ladder to get on the 2nd story roof. They said it was against policy? They did go on the garage roof where shingles were missing, but said they didn't see any damage. I sent him pictures, but got no response. They sent a guy from a roof company who was on the second story for only 10 minutes. They denied the claim. Beware of this money grab.
Just like everyone else, I used my inspection to get home insurance from Edison Insurance Company
Just like everyone else, I used my inspection to get home insurance from Edison Insurance Company. But after two months, they sent me a cancellation notice for two weeks later. They claimed there were issues with the roof, soffit, gutters, and the AC/furnace was in disrepair. The strange thing is that the furnace and AC were brand new in 2021, and I could easily provide the permit to prove it. I had already taken care of the other issues or had them fixed by contractors, but I did it on my own accord, not because they asked me to. I sent them the information, and they came back with more nonsense. How is this company even allowed to stay in business? I had my agent find another company, and I hope they are competent unlike Edison.
I gotta say, this Edison Insurance Company is a real disappointment
I gotta say, this Edison Insurance Company is a real disappointment. I mean, they claim to be all about customer satisfaction, but let me tell you, they don't deserve even one star. Zero stars should be an option because that's how bad they are.
Back in January, we reached out to them for a quote. They were all like, "Yeah, sure, just get those wind and 4-point inspections done." So we did it, you know, went through all the trouble and expenses to make them happy. And what do they do? They hit us with a bunch of unexpected expenses for electrical work and other minor stuff. Apparently, our house being a bit older was a big deal to them, even though our previous insurance company never bothered us about it.
Now, we've been loyal customers with our previous insurance company for over a decade, but we thought, hey, let's give Edison a shot, maybe save some cash. So we went ahead and did all the things they asked for, including shelling out over a grand for electrical work alone. And what do they do? They take our money, give us a policy, and then three months later, they just cancel it. Can you believe that? They straight-up scammed us out of our premium.
I'm telling you, folks, stay away from Edison Insurance Company. They're all talk and no action. They'll take your money and leave you high and dry. Trust me, you're better off sticking with your current insurance company or finding a more reliable one. Don't fall for their tricks like we did.
I got Edison Insurance cause someone told me to when I bought my house 4 years ago
I got Edison Insurance cause someone told me to when I bought my house 4 years ago. Then hurricane Ian hit us. Submitting a claim was kinda easy, but after that it's been a real pain. It's been over 3 months since the adjuster came to our house. Me and Edison Insurance keep going back and forth about my claim and when I'll get the money to fix the hurricane damage. I'm worried there might be a problem with the payment cause it's been so long and they hardly talk to me. The lack of communication makes me wanna switch to a new insurance next year.
Don't use this company!
Don't use this company! I'd give zero stars if I could. We used our local Allstate/Edison insurance after buying our home (first time homeowners) for homeowners insurance. Due to an error they made in July last year, we were called a couple of days ago demanding immediate repayment of over a thousand dollars. They apparently had a dispute with our mortgage company, but nobody let us know what was happening. We were never contacted with an actual bill or a phone call telling us about the error. They admitted many times that they made several errors, but still won't give accurate billing info or an accurate record/report of the incident or payment plans to fix it. Terrible customer service. No supervisor or manager has contacted us yet to apologize for the many errors their office made and admitted to.
This company is terrible, I'm gonna switch before my next renewal
This company is terrible, I'm gonna switch before my next renewal. They canceled my home owner's insurance without any notice until the day it got canceled, after not getting the payment from the mortgage company. After I contacted my mortgage company, I found out they never got a billing statement (funny, they sent me 3). Can't find a way on their website to contact them about their incompetence. So I had to find an electronic copy and give all the info to the mortgage company. My agent and Edison Insurance didn't help at all in fixing Edison Insurance's mistake. But, as a nice touch, Edison Insurance sent me a notice saying they kindly took back the cancellation notice. No admission of their error though. God help me if I have any claims based on the complaints and reviews I've seen.
I bought dis home owners policy at the end of Feb
I bought dis home owners policy at the end of Feb. Dey told me to get a 4 point inspection and I did. I answered all da agents questions. I didn't know how old our patio roof was, but it don't leak. It took till da middle of May and 3 payments later to tell me dey cancelin' da policy. Dey say da reason is no 4 point inspection and da flat roof ain't good enough. Da roof got dirty when we had da main roof redone, so it was dirty. It's a white roof so we cleaned it, got a copy of da 4 point inspection and sent it to dem. Now dey say da plumbing or fixtures are corroded or damaged. Dey also say there ain't no toilet or washing machine photos. Da 4 point inspection says everythin' is in good shape. It took dem 3 months to look at photos and make dis decision. Dey also say dere ain't no photos of toilets or washing machines. Dese are all lies. Now I only got a little over 2 1/2 weeks to find a new insurance co. Anybody livin' in Florida knows it ain't easy to get a fair price insurance during hurricane season. Stay away from dis company. Dey don't even deserve one star
We had Edison for the first year my husband and I were in our first ever home
We had Edison for the first year my husband and I were in our first ever home. 6 months in, we filed a claim for a pretty extensive mold problem that we found that had not come up in any of the 3 inspections we had done on the house. For the record, Edison agreed to insure the house based on those 3 inspections and our policy had $60,000 of mold coverage included, so we felt confident in our claim's viability. The claim ended up being denied. As we found out much later, Edison opted to issue a notice of non-renewal of our policy immediately after denying the claim. The reason given was simply listed as "Other". However, we were never notified. We have gotten many documents and letters (promotional, helpful tips for hurricane season, etc.) in the mail from Edison during our time with them, including during the whole claims process and afterwards. We were even called by an agent regarding the claim several times. When it came time to let us know that we would not be allowed to continue coverage with Edison after the policy lapsed, they exerted almost no effort into getting in contact with us... No letters in the mail. No phone calls. No emails. We found out after our mortgage lender reached out about our insurance coverage to they could begin estimating our escrow payments for the next year. We found out 6 months since the claim was denied and 1 month after our policy had lapsed. We've been unknowingly living in an insured home for a month, heading into hurricane season. We could have been preparing to transition to a new insurer, finding the best and most affordable option for us, for 6 months. Thanks to Edison, we are scrambling and it's terrifying. Stay away from them. They don't care about your well-being or doing the care minimum to communicate as they take your money.

On 04 October 2022, I, the insured, filed a claim for a wind problem (ION) that happened on 28 September 2022
On 04 October 2022, I, the insured, filed a claim for a wind problem (ION) that happened on 28 September 2022. So far, I've made many calls to the adjuster they assigned, but it's been useless. Even the folks who work for Edison insurance couldn't get through to the adjuster. I just want to know what's happening with my claim and get reimbursed for the expenses I had to pay myself. Edison insurance hasn't been helpful at all.
I made an insurance claim after Hurricane *** on 09/28/2022
I made an insurance claim after Hurricane *** on 09/28/2022. The insurance company sent an adjuster on 10/05/2022 to take pictures and document ALL damages. According to *** statute, insurance companies must resolve claims within 30 days. But, it took several weeks (over 30 days) for the insurance company to finally inform me on 11/9/2022 that they would approve the claim. The field adjuster, ***, didn't accurately document all damages on the statement of loss. *** only mentioned the damaged roof and the damaged drywall. *** failed to include at least 10 other damaged items/areas that we discussed while he was at my house. The insurance company closed the claim and issued a partial check. I've sent numerous emails to the company, but nobody is helping. I've also asked for the pictures and notes that *** took while at my house, but he hasn't provided them and hasn't responded at all. It's clear that *** deleted the pictures of the other damaged items and destroyed the evidence. The company keeps making excuses for the delay and claims that it will be taken care of in the supplement process. These damages should have been included in the original claim that *** didn't accurately complete. According to *** state law, insurance companies must complete claims within 90 days of opening. Today is the 91st day since the claim opened, and they still haven't covered the damaged items that *** blatantly disregarded.
I bought my house on 07/31 and had an insurance inspection on 8/24
I bought my house on 07/31 and had an insurance inspection on 8/24. Then Hurricane Michael hit on 10/10. I have a complaint about Edison Insurance Company because they still won't pay for the repair of my ceilings. They say I don't get interior coverage because there was no exterior opening. They also claim that the cracks in the ceilings were not caused by the storm. But that's not true. The North end of my house was missing most of the soffit, which is where the wind was coming from during half of the storm. So the wind was ripping through my attic and flexing my ceilings. They even had to replace my entire metal roof, but they're saying the ceiling damage wasn't caused by the storm. Don't they realize that the ceilings are connected to the roof?
Before the storm, Edison sent someone to take "value" photos of the inside and outside of my house on 8/24. The woman who came told me she had to go home that night and "count the light fixtures" in each room. So they have their own photos showing that there was no damage to the ceilings less than 2 months before the storm. I've lost count of how many adjusters and inspectors they've sent after the hurricane, and they all took pictures of the cracks in the ceilings. So they have their own photos from before and after the storm. I hired a lawyer, and they're telling the lawyer that the "item has been previously addressed and the claim has been closed." But I've been trying to get them to fix my ceilings, we haven't reached an agreement (that's why I hired a lawyer), and I haven't closed any claims! The lawyer is still working on it, but I decided to report them to the ComplaintsBoard.com as well. I pay over $3K a year for homeowners insurance, so I expect them to fix the damage to my home caused by the hurricane.
