Unauthorized credit card charges
I have joined eharmony, and after 8 days have canceled my subscription following the contract clause saying that the cool off period is until 14 days.
The next day I was charged 65 pounds and received an email explaining that I have to pay 150 pounds, (but they are offering a discount and that is why they charged 65 pounds), for answering the questions when joining eharmony.
The questions are obligatory, meaning that it is not possible to create an account without answering those questions. That means that just opening an account costs 150 pounds, but this information does not exist on your site.
I have never agreed to this and have been charged. I have tried to contact your client service but received always the same automated answer. You are committing criminal offenses and fraud. I demand my 65 pounds to be returned to my account because they were robbed from me. The law of consumers says that you are not allowed of charging before asking.
Desired outcome: returning to my bank account 65 pounds in the next 14 days.
Membership
Hello,
Unfortunately, as I've explained several times now to eHarmony, I did not agree to the subscription. This was not done by me, nor did I agree.
I wanted to see what the dating app was like hence why I just used it for 2 days but my bank details were given as I thought it was needed for the trial viewing and a one off payment.
As soon as I became aware of an outstanding amount, eHarmony has automatically changed my account into a membership, and billed me 12 months subscription. I responded with the following response 'I did not agree to this'.
After several attempts to contact them, only via email - which also seems automated by a robot, I repeatedly ask for my case to be brought to management and closed accordingly. Without any luck I get the same response. Failing to agree to the error and refusing to close this case.
I have brought this to their attention, I will raise an investigation with the authorities as unfair human rights. As I am deeply concerned and getting increasingly impatient that this is not being resolved. But this is being ignored. And I am threatened this will be passed to legal team for debt collectors.
I do not want an account/profile with eHarmony nor would I ever recommend this dating app to anyone in the near future after the way I'm being treated.
Plus I have to agree with some of the complaints on here, with the 2 days I browsed, no matches was remotely within driving range. Most was in London or that region. Totally unrealistic to date.
Kind regards,
Miss CR Kinsella
Desired outcome: Close account - no further amount payable.
EHARMONY-won't send verification code to my email
Cannot log in since 5/24/2022. They say they are sending a code to my email but it never arrives. I have been lock out for days. I have sent them emails about the issue but they don't respond. They have stolen hundreds of dollars from me and I cannot use the site. It is unacceptable.
Desired outcome: full refund of all monies paid, an apology to my matches I left thinking I dumped them. Cancellation.
Membership
Same as everyone else - I signed up for the ridiculously expensive price of membership, chose the 6 month payment option, and there were ZERO people in my area within reasonable driving distance. I asked eharmony to cancel my service, and to stop charging me the remaining payments, and they refused. So I filed a complaint with the BBB, and will dispute the charges when they hit my card. Awful customer service.
Desired outcome: Stop charging me the remaining payments.
Auto-renewal
received an $800 dollar bill from collection agency RFGI for a service I haven't even been using and am sure I only signed up for a limited time. I'm seeing that I'm not the only one that has been experiencing this unethical practice and it'd be nice if someone would shut this down. It's clear that it's a purposeful abuse that is being perpetrated.
Desired outcome: The debt be canceled.
I did turn off auto renew yet somehow it mysteriously didn’t work without my knowledge….got charged erroneously as well… been requesting for months they cancel my account and auto renew ..they still have not. I do not want to use their app ever again because I think there are glitches in this regard and other respects I experienced as well. They have lost my recommendation and future customer consideration because of how they’ve treated me in their service process unbelievably poor. They don’t seem to be listening to their customers… over charge us now …but lose long term for renewals and new customers who talk to prior. If you’re still on eHarmony take a screen shot of everything you do on the app and store it long term… I no longer trust this company.

Eharmoney threatening after a computer glitch

Desired outcome: Stop harassing me
Eharmony location
The problem I have with eharmony is that they don’t send me any matches that are in my area they are always 60 to 150 miles away.
I’m not interested in meeting anybody that’s more than 30 miles away. Distance to me is very important and I cannot seem to find a box to check that this is what I want.
Therefore I’m finding this website a waste of time and money. If there’s a way to fix this who do I talk to that’s impossible as well.
I have three more months of the service and it’s considered a waste.
Desired outcome: who do I talk to that’s impossible as well.I have three more months of the service and it’s considered a waste.
I canceled auto renewal, but they are now saying that I owe for a 12 month subscription
I signed up for a 6 month premium plan, and soon after canceled after I got engaged. Now they are saying that I owe them $838 for 12 months because of auto renewal. I have contacted them several times, and asked for a call from them, only to be told that they were not going to relent and they wanted their money. I haven't logged in since September of last year, and they auto renewed 3/22/22. They have no customer service number, only email.
Desired outcome: They need to stop harassing me for a renewal that I did not authorize.
deceptive autorenewal
The autorenewal was not clear when I originally signed up. I only paid the 6 months and thought it was time limited. When i noticed there was a subscrption, I emailed a cancellation then all of a sudden I got charged the a yearly autorenewal only after I emailed a cancelation for almost $900. I think when you sign up for only a 6 mo, there is obviuosly a reason you did not sign up for a year so why would I agree to a yearly auto-renewal. This makes no sense. In addition, I believe. I sent the email cancellation before they even processed the auto-renewal.
Desired outcome: Would like a refund of my $900 since i requested the cancelation before they actually charged my account. The autorenewal was not clear at the time of original 6 mo one time payment.
Dating service
I have been charged for something I was not aware I still even belong to. I have found someone and did not authorized a payment to paypal for a crazy amount over 500.00 I want it canceled and a refund of a service I feel is unethical and not fair. I have tried to contact by phone and every phone contact is invalid. please help me with his my name shirley schmitt - [protected]@aol.com
Not worth your money
I had a 12- month membership on this site and only communicated with 2 people. Choices are really limited. They trick you into buying a membership. After my membership expired I started getting tons of messages and likes. I decided to renew my membership for another 12 months and all of a sudden it's dead again... I suspect they use fake profiles to message potential customers and trick them into purchasing premium plan. Once you do- everything stops, no messages, likes, etc. I find it very strange... I asked to cancel my membership and get a refund on day 4 and they are refusing. They only allow cancelations in certain states which violates laws, every contract must have cooling- off period. I'm filing a formal complaint with the local government and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Stay away from eharmony, COVID restrictions are getting lifted, better to meet someone in person.
Desired outcome: Refund
online dating service
I paid for a premium membership and completed all of the many steps in setting up my profile. You are not able to search on eHarmony - you only get to see who the system "matched" you with based on the answers to their long quiz and your stated preferences.
I was sporadically "matched" with individuals of a gender opposite of what I requested. I finally submitted a concern form to eHarmony and received a reply that my profile had been deleted because I mis-gendered myself.
My only recourse would be to start over and notify eHarmony again once I completed that process so my membership could be transferred over to my new profile.
Desired outcome: Put my profile back online exactly as initially written or refund the two months remaining on my subscription.
Subscription trap
I recently thought I would sign up for eharmony after seeing it advertised in a popular national newspaper. I have always heard that it is best to pay a subscription as this potentially increases the chance of serious daters.
I am not sure if any of your team has recently signed up to this website, however as part of this process you are immediately taken to a personality quiz with no option to skip. I am sure you know the sort of “would you rather” statements and which picture do you prefer etc. After this very boring process you are then taken to an enticing money off deal and then to payment details. There is a 14 day cancellation period but what they fail to specify is that you will be charged £65 for the mandatory personality test if you cancel even within the 14 days for premium members.
Of course I have fallen for this scam and been charged £65 for cancelling my subscription the same day. I wish I had done more research into this prior to signing up.
I really don’t want other people to fall for this and be charged an extortionate amount of money for a dating app particularly when they have not made the cost of this personality test transparent.
Desired outcome: Full refund and eharmony to make their charges clearer.
Automatic Renewal
In 2019 I signed up for 12 months, used it for 6 and hid my profile and cancelled service (so I thought). During the 12 months my CC card was compromised, and I was reissued a new one. 12 months later I received an email that they could not auto-renew my subscription. Great I did not want your service anymore. Then I get this email:
I am sorry to hear that you are choosing to leave our service.
Upon reviewing your account, I see that your subscription was renewed for a 12-month membership plan in the amount of $478.80 payable in three installments in the amount of $159.60 each. However, the system failed to charge your account for the renewal and as such your account has been locked.
Currently, you won't be able to access your account. If you would like to access your account, you will need to update your payment information.
Upon logging into your profile, you will see the “Reactivate Your Profile” page. This page shows the currently outstanding payment(s). Please update your information and we will process the outstanding payment(s) and unlock your account.
Any remaining payment(s) for your subscription will then be debited as agreed.
Please note that members are currently unable to access the “Reactivate Your Profile” page via the apps. To access this page on a mobile device, please use the Chrome or Safari browser apps.
Furthermore, I have gone ahead and waived the last two payments. But, you have one remaining payments which shall be charged when you will update your payment information.
I have also disabled the automatic renewal feature of your subscription and it is set to expire on 4/19/2021 (MM/DD/YYYY).
I email back: Nope, it can stay locked forever, please delete my account I wont be back.
7 Month later I receive and email from Rozlin Financial Group, Inc (RFGI) is a debt collector.
After going back and forth with them on why the debt is fraudulent, I receive this email:
Your dispute position has been notated on the account. Please note this action does not reverse the outstanding debt. Take care and stay well.
Fast forward to 3 days ago, I get a letter in the mail from Rozlin Financial Group, Inc (RFGI) pretty much stating the same line of you owe a debt, please pay here or here or call us. Or send us a detailed letter as to why you think the debt is in error.
I am printing out all the email exchanges and sending it to them.
Desired outcome: Cancel the debt.
Eharmony auto renewal
The eharmony app displays an something that says “restore subscription” which sounds like one has successfully canceled the auto renewal. However, it apparently does not mean that. After it auto renewed on February 25, 2022 for $480.80 for 12 months they wwould not renew the money even if one doesn’t want the service despite the fact that this display is misleading.
Desired outcome: Refund
Won't give refund when I made an error of signing up on their terrible site for 1 year subscription
Is this the way they make their money to make a monthly payment that ends up tying them into a whole year of this terrible site that sends terrible matches. I cannot afford $40/month and just want out of this subscription. I already tried to cancel my credit card but they someone got my new credit card information and continued to charge me. I see that many people have got trapped into this same rubbish and I guess that is how they make the money by preying on the vulnerable and lock them into a whole 12 months- which ends up being over $400, which is a lot of money that can go else where while we continue using the better and free apps out there made available to the kind honest people that have no way of finding love but through these online dating apps. eharmony should close down for good.
Desired outcome: Refund. Cancel any further payments.
I am presently seeking a return of most of the money eharmony took from my account. In the website it appears they are offering a one month trial of interaction for 25-30$, but when I got my bank statement I found a charge of 271$. One long phone call, and 2 emails later. they can only say it is against their policy to cancel a subscription. Also, you cannot return to the website and see the page where you agreed to the purchase at a lower price. You would gave to create a new profile to do that. There was no direct confirmation upon purchasing, that my account would be charged 271$. So, I never directly agreed to that charge. There is a really big problem with this company. No good conscience on their end about doing clear and honest business.
They keep referring to their cancellation policy, but I actually never willingly subscribed to the year they are charging me for. They make it clear that they are not willing to correct their error. I say it is THEIR ERROR, because they want to blame the customer and make you feel as though it is your mistake. Dont buy it!
Portrayal
eHarmony was created by a homosexual portraying as a Christian. He is as QUEER as the day is long.
Stay away from this hipocritical site.
His new commercial shows 2 homos loving it up.
Desired outcome: Wake people up
Dating service
I signed up with eharmony on December 13, 2021 for a 6-month trial subscription of $89.85. They ended my subscription on January 22, 2022 and stated that my 6-month subscription cost was actually $359.40 in four payments of $89.85 each. That was not what they advertised when I signed up. This was deceptive and false advertising in my opinion.
Desired outcome: Provide the 6-month subscription for the $89.85 cost that I have already paid for.
Unauthorized credit card charges.
After one year use of eHarmony, very few options on the website, I didn't use it less than a year, waste money and time,
It even charged me without my subscription. I sent email to their Customer service, and they refuse to refund me. it is no different as robbery and eHarmony.
If I give in, it will keep take away the money from me!
the worst customer experience ever. if there is negative rating, it would be.
on their customer email said
I can confirm that this feature was still active, hence our system attempted the renewal charge. Your subscription was renewed on 01/24/2022 (MM/DD/YYYY) for 12-month payable in 4 payments of $89.70 each, for a total of $358.80.
As we have now carefully reviewed Customer Care’s original denial of your request and found it appropriate, this decision will be final. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any further consideration of your request.
Desired outcome: Please refund the $89.73 and the first year subscription fee $134.
Cancellation policy and app misleading
Absolutely awful! Similar to others I downloaded the app and then cancelled the 12 month subscription I'd selected within the 14 day cooling off period using the in app ‘cancel auto renewal' option. Bearing in mind setting up the account and payment is all done in app and it was a monthly subscription this appeared to be the correct course of actions. They are now chasing me for the money. Having looked at the T&Cs it states I have to cancel within 14 days in writing - not the in app option. I have therefore appealed for some compassion due to my mistake and offered to pay for the time inutilised the app pro rata and the personality services used. I have had automated responses only and no understanding at all. The app is misleading and I believe it is done deliberately. I'm lucky they can't charge my card and I'm currently fighting back and forth via email. However I am now worried about debt recovery repercussions so feel I have no option but to pay it eventually. Their customer service is awful - the reps speak from a script and the email responses are generic. I offered to pay a fair amount for the services used during the time I utilised the app but they don't appear to be open to negotiations. Feel an absolute fool and that their cancellation policy vs. Automatic renewal cancellation is intentionally misleading. I don't know with so many bad reviews how they aren't being looked into. At least reading other reviews I feel less idiotic as I am not the only one that believed they had cancelled correctly.
Desired outcome: Respond to my complaints with specific answers and not automated replies. Accept I cancelled the subscription within the period of time determined and stop demanding payment. Update the app so it less misleading about the cancellation

About eHarmony
One of the things that sets eHarmony apart from other dating sites is its unique matching system. Instead of simply allowing users to browse through profiles and message each other, eHarmony uses a proprietary algorithm to match users based on a variety of factors, including personality traits, values, and interests. This means that users are more likely to find someone who is truly compatible with them, rather than just someone who looks good on paper.
Another key feature of eHarmony is its focus on long-term relationships. While other dating sites may be geared more towards casual hookups or short-term flings, eHarmony is designed to help users find lasting love. This is reflected in the site's comprehensive personality questionnaire, which takes around 30 minutes to complete and is designed to help users understand themselves better and find partners who share their values and goals.
In addition to its matching system and focus on long-term relationships, eHarmony also offers a range of other features to help users connect and communicate. These include a messaging system, a "What If?" feature that suggests potential matches based on users' preferences, and a mobile app that allows users to access the site on the go.
Overall, eHarmony is a well-established and highly respected dating site that is ideal for singles who are serious about finding a long-term partner. With its unique matching system, focus on compatibility, and range of features, eHarmony is a great choice for anyone who is looking for love online.
