This company sells geothermal units to contractors to avoid warranty claims. After my contractor installed my unit, he stopped responding to my calls when I had issues. When I contacted Enertech, they told me to contact a local dealer. When I reached out to them, they said they would come and service the unit under warranty. However, when they arrived at my house, they informed me that the warranty would not cover it because I didn't purchase it from them. Now, I'm facing a major breakdown of the system that requires crucial parts. The Hydron unit they offer comes with a 10-year warranty, but since I bought it from a contractor, I don't receive the full warranty period.

We run a Geothermal HVAC biz in Albany, NY and decided to try 2 heat pumps from Enertech. They claim to have the "Best Geothermal warranty" on their site, so we gave it a shot. We're a new company, but I know my stuff when it comes to geothermal design. I did 4 presentations on the topic to engineering societies in VT, NY, and Conn. last year. We installed both units exactly as per industry standards and Enertech's recommendation. One of the units wasn't working right, and we quickly noticed. When we contacted their tech support, they told us not to worry. But less than a week later, the unit had a major failure. When we tried to claim the warranty, they flat out refused, saying it was due to "field conditions." Mind you, they made this call from 2000 miles away without knowing the actual conditions. Their logic is that if it failed, it must be our fault, so no warranty. I had data loggers on the unit and provided plenty of data showing the opposite - the unit was working perfectly under ideal conditions, any geothermal installer would agree. But they still wouldn't honor the warranty and only offered a new unit at a so-called discount (which cost over $1900, not much of a discount). I had the regional sales manager come to the site to check the conditions. He looked everywhere and found nothing wrong. After seeing the site, he said he'd "come back with a better offer." A week later, he said Enertech still wouldn't honor the warranty and only offered a discount. Later, I tried to use a credit they promised me for attending an Enertech training event. The credit was supposed to be a $150 discount on my next Enertech unit purchase. But they accused me of not attending the training and refused to apply the promised discount. I showed them the receipt, the schedule of the 2-day training, the pens from the event, and business cards from their employees, but they said it wasn't worth arguing and that no further discounts would be applied. These people are the worst. In the attached document, Enertech rep *** says they'll cover the cost of a new unit if they find a manufacturer's defect in the heat exchanger. But they want me to send it to their factory for analysis? If they won't give me credit for attending an event despite overwhelming evidence, why should I trust them on anything? And they wouldn't ship a new heat pump until I made upfront payment, which just shows they don't care about finding the truth. Long story short, a poorly wired geothermal unit had a catastrophic failure within a month, and their so-called "industry's best 10-year warranty" forced us to pay an extra $900 for a second unit. False advertising, plain and simple.
