Solar X is a company that sells wholesale solar panels
Solar X is a company that sells wholesale solar panels. They only have a few people working for them and don't have any electricians or installers on staff. They told me that they would install my panels in a week, but it actually took them 4 months. When I tried to use their inverter app, it didn't work and they told me to call someone else instead of fixing it themselves. The estimate they gave me was terrible because I only get about 30% less power in full sun than they said I would. After they installed the panels, they left big rails hanging over the side of my roof, which is against building and fire code. When I asked them to fix it, they refused.
Solar-X is a good company with an A+ ComplaintsBoard.com rating, which is why I chose them
Solar-X is a good company with an A+ ComplaintsBoard.com rating, which is why I chose them. However, their service level has not been great. I had a design with 20 monitored panels and an extended warranty on an inverter. I had to pay for an assessment, Hydro connection, building permit fees, and 66% of the project cost before equipment was ordered, which was 78% of the total cost. It took 4 months for materials to arrive due to delays, shortages, and incorrect ordering. The crew arrived late and had trouble with the rail mounting hardware. They were subcontracted to S-X. They had to come back multiple times due to missing cables, insufficient critter guard, and issues with the AC disconnect. S-X asked for the balance of payment but had not supplied the extended warranty. The inverter had issues with arcing events, and S-X blamed it on EMI, but I pointed out that it coincided with full sun. S-X sent out their crew to reinstall all panels, but it still had issues. Finally, an S-X engineer came onsite to modify an inverter setting, which fixed the problem. I am still waiting for the warranty transfer, which has not been returned in 10 weeks.

So, we had some problems with the installation of Solar X
So, we had some problems with the installation of Solar X. They said they couldn't upgrade our electrical panel, so we had to get another electrician to do it for us. Cost us about 3 grand, which was a bummer. And now we got the final bill and they messed it up - didn't take off the money we spent on the other electrician. Not cool.
I paid Solar X $1,500 for them to come to my crib and give me an estimate on what kind of solar panels they could put in
I paid Solar X $1,500 for them to come to my crib and give me an estimate on what kind of solar panels they could put in. Then they asked me for a 66% deposit to install the system. So I sent them over $21,000 in June 2022. They said they would install it by August 15th but they kept "ordering the materials" three different times over three months. Finally, the materials came in October. They were supposed to install it the same day but they didn't and they didn't tell me why for a few weeks. Then they tried to get me to approve a new system layout that would be northfacing and shady. They said if I approved it that day, they could install it that week. I said no. We talked about putting in a smaller system but then all the employees started giving me different info and didn't show up to a meeting we planned because someone forgot their ladder. I never agreed to the new, smaller system because it's been 9 months and I don't want people who can't measure a roof to install a system on my house. They want to charge me to take back the equipment they brought and I don't know when I'll get my money back or if I need to do something else. They blocked me on *** when I left a shorter version of this complaint. I emailed everyone I know from the company and called a bunch of times but they blocked my number so no one picks up.
We got in touch with Solar X last year (July )
We got in touch with Solar X last year (July ). We paid them $15,000 for engineering & installing solar panels on our new steel garage. After some delays, they installed brackets in June 2022. In July 2022, 3 installers came to install the panels and bars. After they left, we saw that over 12 screws holding the panel rails were not secured into the roof hoists. The screws they used are not suitable for steel buildings and don't have washers to prevent water leakage. The solar panels are not secured and can fly away in strong winds, damaging the roof sheets. We called the metal manufacturer, who said that unsecured wood should not be used to attach the secures. Our insurance company won't cover any damage due to incorrect installation. We waited over a year for this service, and now our 75-year roof is damaged beyond repair, and the solar panels are not hooked up. The installers were unprofessional, arriving in a banged-up car, not using a harness or fall arrest while on the roof, and working past 10 pm. They showed us pictures of the solar panels before leaving. Update Aug 2/22*** Solar X says they want us to be 100% satisfied, and the damage will fall under the Workmanship warranty.

Solar X was my solar panel provider
Solar X was my solar panel provider. They never told me they was using sub-contractors for the installation. I only found out when I had already given a deposit. After 1 year, the system produced only 79% of the expected goal. The excuses started. First, without even performing a site visit, they claimed it was shading that was reducing production. However, their initial quote does state that I have 0% shading. Then they stated that I probably over-consumed. My consumption has nothing to do with the system production. They claim that too much heat can actually lower production, however they installed panels alongside my chimney. The real issue here is that during the installation, the panels were not identified. Therefore I have no way of knowing which panels produce more and which one produce less. If I knew I might be able to change the configuration in order to reach my full potential production. Solar X is refusing to send a technician to identify the panels unless I pay them. This is not an extra service, it is something that was not done during the initial installation. We are talking about a $38,000 system with 34 panels, none of which are identified. In addition, this summer, early July I notified them that one of my panels was not working. TWO months later someone finally came after I called and called to see what the delay was. I hope you understand that when it comes to Solar July and August are the most important months to produce energy. Solar-X, at my insistence offered a compensation of $500. They are now glossing over this. Solar-X insists that I am the only customer with problems. After some research, I am far from being the only one. Solar-X states that I did not pay for the warranty. However, on their Building permit application and security deposit form their agreement which bears my signature says: "The following warranties are provided to the Owner: (a) by Solar X inc., a labour warranty for a term of three years. " Please refer to the file Solar X Application Form Building Permit. They claim I am asking for a WEAR and TEAR ( taking down the system completely and rebuild it). NO, I am asking them to identify my panels so that we can reach the promised production level. Panel identification should have been done at the time of the installation Please refer to the file "Refusal to identify panels". Finally, in their last correspondence, part of an internal email was accidently sent to me. I therefore see no sense in continuing to argue with them. I am asking for panel identification, they respond with some kind of Wear and Tear warranty as if I wanted to dismantle everything. They are clearly trying to pass the buck to their installer, *** while they Solar-X was the company who sold me the system. Their internal affairs with sub-contractors does not regard me. I paid Solar-X.
