I got a contract with the company that has a production guarantee
I got a contract with the company that has a production guarantee. My solar system didn't meet the production guarantee in the first year. Now the company won't honor my contract and give me back 7% of what I paid, like it says in the contract. They're not responding to my messages.
We paid Sun Solar for a solar install to be commissioned for use by the end of December, December 31 actually
We paid Sun Solar for a solar install to be commissioned for use by the end of December, December 31 actually. We had the system installed October 31. However, Chancellor failed to send Liberty Utilities the correct documents after several attempts and requests. They have still failed to send the required documents to receive permission to operate the system. I paid them $46,000 for the system and it is unoperational.
I paid over 20,000 for solar panels to be installed and was told they would produce enough electricity to reduce my bills to just the user fees
I paid over 20,000 for solar panels to be installed and was told they would produce enough electricity to reduce my bills to just the user fees. But that hasn't happened. After installation, I was told more trees needed to be removed. I spent 2,400 in 2019 to have this done, but still no savings as promised. They said more trees needed to come down, so I spent another 3,250 on tree removal in 2020. Still not producing as they said. I live in a small 875 sq. ft. home alone. I got a bill of over 600.00 in February, which I paid. I refinanced my home to get rid of the solar panels because of the consistently high bills. I'm a senior citizen and I don't think this company is honoring their contract. In 2020, they said if this continues, they would install more panels at no cost to me. But they haven't done that. I can't afford these high bills, and this company needs to stand behind their product and do what's right.

I bought solar panels from SunSolar in 2018
I bought solar panels from SunSolar in 2018. They said it would really lower my electric bill. But when they put the panels in, one of them had a problem. I had to call them to come and fix it. It's been a year and 2 months now, but my bill hasn't gone down at all. It's the same as before and even went up when they changed my meter to a digital one. The solar panels haven't made any electricity to make up for it. Now I have to pay three times more for my electricity. They said these panels would work, but they haven't. I complained three times already. The third time, they sent the guy who sold me the panels to check things out. He looked at everything, but the only thing he could think of was to add more panels, which would cost more money. SunSolar needs to fix this or take the panels away and cancel my loan.
This company is terrible, they never finished the job
This company is terrible, they never finished the job. The salesman was great though. The trenches in my yard have been partially filled for two weeks. They didn't show up twice and I had to call them to find out why. They didn't clean up after themselves, there were wires and steel drill outs all over the place. And don't even get me started on the cigarette butts everywhere. One of our backup generators has keys jammed in it. The work crews talk more than they actually work. The posts where the panels were hung are bent, so now the panels are all wavy. They were supposed to blow insulation in the crawl space above the house as part of the deal, but there have been no calls or call backs about it. They truly don't care once they get paid. The funding for the job was approved before it was even halfway done, and I had to really push for them to finish it. Look for a solar solution elsewhere, this company and its owner don't give a crap about customers. The employees do nothing but badmouth the company and say they're looking for better jobs. They claim the company treats them like crap. If we need more panels, we'll go somewhere else. You would think for $120k, you would get good service.
I got a complaint 'bout Sun Solar
I got a complaint 'bout Sun Solar. They said the solar panels would add value to our crib when we took the solar loan, but turns out they don't add any value. They even slapped a UCC lien on our house, when it was only supposed to be on the panels. Now we can't sell our place 'cause of the UCC lien and 'cause solar don't add value. They straight up lied to us during the whole process. We asked 'em nicely to take the panels back 'cause of these problems. We even asked for a voluntary repossession. But Sun Solar keeps giving us the runaround, sayin' they don't even own the panels and told us to call our loan company. So we did, but the loan company said they can't do nothin' 'cept write it off and get money from Sun Solar. That's why we asked 'em politely to take the panels back. But they're sayin' no. They straight up lied to us. All we want is for 'em to remove the panels and give 'em back. I get it if they mess up my credit, but other folks need to know what Sun Solar is up to.
I called this company to take the solar panels off my roof so I could get my roof replaced
I called this company to take the solar panels off my roof so I could get my roof replaced. They were supposed to come on 4/20. They said I wouldn't have to pay to remove them or put them back on. On 4/20, they messaged me and asked about the work. They didn't do anything. I replied and got an auto reply saying it was great. I contacted them again and the guy said he submitted my request and we scheduled for 4/26. They didn't show up. They said I never made a request. I told them I spoke to David. Then they said I needed to talk to Sierra. She called this morning and said I had to fill out paperwork and pay them for it. I asked how much. She said they needed a specialist to come and look at it before giving a price. She couldn't tell me the amount. She said once the paperwork was signed, they could schedule it. They were also supposed to help me get $500 back from the electric company, but I haven't received anything. They only helped pay my electric bill for three months and it barely covered it. I still pay $200/month for electricity. The salesperson spelled our names wrong on the paperwork. I complained and they only gave me a $25 Walmart gift card. I told them I would talk to a lawyer and now they say they can't talk to me anymore.
In September , my friend referred me to Sun Solar
In September , my friend referred me to Sun Solar. A salesman named Danny *** contacted me and we had a meeting. I asked him to design a system that would cover my yearly electrical use of 40,081 KWH. After the system was designed, we met again and Danny presented his proposal. He said the system would cover 100% of my yearly electric cost and cost $58,739. He also mentioned that Sun Solar guarantees the production, so there's no risk for the consumer.
After installation, it wasn't until July when I received my June electric bill that I realized the system was falling short of the promised 40,081 KWH. I contacted Sun Solar's service department to fix my panels, thinking they weren't working properly. After three weeks of back and forth, the service department informed me that my system was working fine but would only produce 22,000 KWH at best. I immediately reached out to Danny ***, who promised to investigate.
Danny later admitted that a mistake was made and the production numbers he proposed were incorrect. On August 10, he informed me that the higher-ups were working on a solution. On August 18, the head of sales, Bill ***, emailed me offering to sell me more panels at a reduced price. I was shocked that Sun Solar expected me to do business with them after misrepresenting the first solar array's production by 45%. I declined the offer.
On August 19, I had a conference call with Danny ***, Bill ***, Chelsey ***, and Caleb ***, the CEO of Sun Solar. During the call, Caleb *** stated that he didn't believe Danny intentionally misrepresented the production. I explained that whether intentional or not, their misrepresentation prevented me from making a sound financial decision. Caleb offered me a one-time payment of $4500 in exchange for signing a form releasing Sun Solar from further liability. I found this amount unacceptable.
I started exploring legal options, which will be costly. I discovered the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, which clearly shows that Sun Solar violated it by misleading me during the purchase. Danny *** has been honest about the issue and informed his superiors. I hoped they would remove the panels, refund my money, and avoid litigation. Unfortunately, I have limited options, and $58,739 is the largest purchase I've made apart from my house.
I request assistance in this matter. If Missouri companies can operate this way without consequences, it would be a shame, leaving people like me with nowhere to turn. In my recent conversations with Sun Solar, they blamed Danny's lack of proper training at the time of the sale for the issue. I shouldn't suffer due to Sun Solar's incompetence.
The solar project was presented to me as a way to save money from day one and even more as electrical prices increased over time. This turned out to be completely false, and my average monthly electrical cost has significantly increased. I also believed that having no electric bill would increase the value of my house if I ever decided to sell it. Now, that's clearly not the case.
The best solution, in my opinion, is for Sun Solar to remove the panels and refund my money. If I had received accurate information, I would have rejected the proposal in one meeting and moved on. Alternatively, a substantial cash payment reflecting the 55% production shortfall could be acceptable. 45% of the project's total cost would amount to $26,432.
I hope you consider my complaint and help Sun Solar and me reach a fair agreement. I understand that mistakes happen, but what's fraudulent is how Sun Solar is handling the aftermath of their mistake. Any reputable company would remove the panels and refund the money. I'm not seeking damages or a personal payday, despite the effort and additional costs I've incurred. I simply want it to be as if none of this ever happened. None of this would have occurred if Sun Solar had properly trained their employees.
