Last week I went to Leroy Merlin in La Orotava, Tenerife to return an item and purchase other products. I parked my car in the parking garage, went up the stairs and walked towards the return desk. When I arrived at the return desk the security guard shouted at me and grabbed my shoulder. He insisted that I go back to the staircase, go around the the wall and then I could go in the store again to the return desk. He was aggressive, angry, hostile. He could have just explained to me that next time I need to follow the path he wanted me to follow, like a good hamster! My purpose in this store is to purchase products and do business. I have been coming to this store for 8 years, I have spent at least 20, 000 Euros in this store. I am a retired 64 year old American.
Many of the employees I speak to on a first name basis. I am SHOCKED that I was treated this way. But wait... It gets even worse!
Today I drove to the store so my Partner could exchange a toilet seat. I told him that I would not go in the store because of my treatment there. He is also Retired 68 years old American with a Heart Condition, he is 164 tall and a frail man. He went into the store, He used the WRONG door. The same security guard grabbed him by the arm and tried to throw him out of the store. My partner told the security guard DO NOT TOUCH ME! The guard shouted to him in Spanish with anger! He asked for the manager, the manager listened and then walked away.
This man is going to get this store in allot of trouble! He needs to be replaced by someone Nice. He is Angry, He clearly does not like foreigners, does not like to hear English, Thinks he is some sort of Soldier or Police.
We are both Americans and are shocked at the treatment we received at this store. The store owes us an apology!
