Broker completed our application wrong and we ended up paying for an extra month's insurance. She said there was nothin we can do 'cept cancel the policy. We told her the start date of the policy many times and even got text messages saved where she said she knew.
First Family Insurance, LLC is the worst when it comes to customer service!
First Family Insurance, LLC is the worst when it comes to customer service! I bought insurance from James S., but when I tried to use it at my doctor's office, they said they couldn't accept it. So, I called James right away, and he started laughing and accusing me of not wanting to pay the premium. I canceled immediately and tried to get in touch with the company, but nobody ever replied back.
SCAM: I had a shoulder injury, and my insurance said they would cover the surgery
SCAM: I had a shoulder injury, and my insurance said they would cover the surgery. But then, right before the surgery, they changed their mind and I had to pay for it all myself. I told Michael K. to cancel my insurance months ago, but I just realized they're still charging me! It's really dishonest. I have proof attached. Michael K. will bother you with phone calls and texts to get your business, but when it comes to helping you understand your benefits, suddenly he's too busy and doesn't have time for you. It's really terrible!
This company is a scam
This company is a scam. I been getting lots of phone calls and text messages from them at my work number in the hospital (so I gotta answer even if I don't know the number). Some days they call me every 5 minutes. I got 32 phone calls from them on Monday, most of them from different numbers. They always ask for some lady named Lisa and say they're calling 'bout health insurance. I don't know no Lisa, and I didn't ask 'bout no insurance. Even if they got my number wrong, it ain't normal to call someone every 5 minutes from different numbers and not leave a message. So I think it's a scam.
First Family Insurance Complaints 10
The agent Gabriel V
The agent Gabriel V. entered my marketplace insurance application without permission. He canceled the plan I had selected for 2022. This has resulted in a gap in coverage for January 2022.
Unsolicited Calls
Unsolicited Calls. REPEATEDLY In the past 3 days, I've been getting about 5 calls every day trying to sell insurance to someone called Vanessa. I've asked them many times to take our number off their list, but they keep calling. They call early in the morning and all through the day until the evening. My number is ***.
These guys are relentless
These guys are relentless. I put my info on a site I thought was different. I got 70! 70 calls in under 24 hours. I block one number, they call from another. Almost like harassment. It's ridiculous. I wouldn't even think about doing business with a company that's clearly so desperate they have nothing else to do but bother me? 70 calls, seriously?

I just went on healthcare.org to ask for a health insurance quote, and let me tell you, it's been a total nightmare since then
I just went on healthcare.org to ask for a health insurance quote, and let me tell you, it's been a total nightmare since then. I keep getting calls from different agents claiming to be from First Family Insurance. I've tried telling them to stop calling me, but it seems like they just don't get the message. I still get calls and texts from these agents every single day. It's really frustrating.
This company won't stop calling me
This company won't stop calling me. They call me like 50-70 times in one day, and if I don't pick up, they text me. I'm a nightshirt nurse and I can't get any sleep because of all the calling! This company won't stop calling me. They call me like 50-70 times in one day, and if I don't pick up, they text me. I'm a nightshirt nurse and I can't get any sleep because they won't stop calling. And then they text me looking for Karen, but I'm a guy, not Karen. I've told them to please stop calling, but they just keep calling. They use all different numbers. I'm on the do not call list, and they've been sued for it before. I guess they just don't care at this point.
Daniel L, the insurance representative, received a payment of $909.58 on 11/12 to start my health insurance
Daniel L., the insurance representative, received a payment of $909.58 on 11/12 to start my health insurance. However, on 1/24, the status showed as inactive. I urgently needed care on 1/24 and contacted Danielle L. regarding the "inactive" insurance. Billing informed me that the insurance was not activated and Danielle mentioned she couldn't do anything about it. I paid for the insurance but couldn't use it because First Family Insurance didn't activate it. I want a full refund for the money I paid since the insurance was supposed to start on Jan 1, 2020. The insurance representative did not fulfill their role, and I had to cancel the insurance to prevent further withdrawals from my bank.
At first, I got hired as an agent, but turns out I was actually a solicitor
At first, I got hired as an agent, but turns out I was actually a solicitor. I found out from United Healthcare, who owns the company now. They always talk to me and list me as an agent in our conversations and even in their Agency Guidelines. But because of this solicitor label, I can't enjoy all the rights of a full agent with insurance companies. Plus, I don't get any residual income from the sales I made after leaving the company. I've been trying to figure out why I didn't receive my monthly residual for January, but no luck. I've sent emails and made calls, but no response. I asked for a letter of release from the company at the start of January 2023, but I still haven't gotten it. This letter is important because it allows me to switch from one company to another. And to make matters worse, I still haven't received my tax info (***) for the year 2022. You know, companies are supposed to send these out to their employees and contractors by January 31.
My wife and I were living in Maryland and we bought a property in Pennsylvania to make it our new home
My wife and I were living in Maryland and we bought a property in Pennsylvania to make it our new home. We had separate long-term plans with Maryland CareFirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Since we were moving, we contacted First Family Insurance to inquire about getting a Pennsylvania plan for both of us. We had a conversation with Samantha R., a representative from First Family, and explained our situation. She enrolled us in a plan with Golden Rule. However, we were not informed that this plan was short-term and had very limited benefits. We only discovered this when I received a bill for a routine physical, which cost me nearly $1000 out-of-pocket. Unfortunately, the plan covers very little of the expenses. It seems like the agent didn't do her job properly. I've spoken to other agents who suggested filing a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner of PA.
I've been with this policy for about 2 years
I've been with this policy for about 2 years. My agent is ***. We talked about the plan I was leaving and the options he could offer. He asked a lot of health-related questions for me and my wife. On July 19th, 2022, I had shoulder replacement surgery. Both my wife and I have had multiple orthopedic surgeries, including replacements. To make a long story short, my policy didn't cover the shoulder replacement, and the hospital billed me 62K. When I received the bill, I called *** to find out what was happening. I didn't get a call back. I called the office again and spoke to the same person. He said he would make sure *** contacted me. Well, he did, the next day "VIA TEXT" and said, "hey how is it going"? A text. I finally got him on the phone and explained the situation. He said he would look into it and get back to me. I also asked him to email or mail me a copy of my policy, but I received nothing. That was around August 24th. On Monday, September 26th, I got another text from ***: "Good afternoon! This is *** your health agent. I hope all is well. It looks like your plan is coming up for renewal. We can either keep you on the same plan or we can shop new options. Just let me know! I look forward to speaking with you." Are you kidding ? Within an hour of that text, I replied, "When does the plan renew?" Nothing. Then, 20 minutes later, I asked the question again and requested my policy. Nothing. I called the office on the 28th, trying to speak with someone, but no one returned my call. I tried again this morning, the 29th, and still no one is available. How do you do business? This is ridiculous. My number is ***, and I would appreciate someone calling me back. *** doesn't have to.
I purchased a one-year insurance policy from a First Family agent.
I purchased a one-year insurance policy from a First Family agent. Near the policy's end, the agent inquired about extending my coverage. I declined, planning to switch providers. Despite my refusal, confirmed via texts and emails, the agent enrolled me in a new policy with United Healthcare, charging my credit card an unwanted $554.00. When confronted, the agent became hostile and uncooperative. I escalated the issue to First Family's supervisor, who insisted I appeal the charge with United, ignoring my evidence against the extension. This unauthorized policy extension feels fraudulent, as it seems driven by the agent's commission motives. I need assistance reclaiming my $554.00 from First Family, as United Healthcare indicated only the broker could initiate a refund, which they're likely avoiding due to partnership concerns.
