I wouldn't recommend First Federal Bank of Kansas City for a mortgage company. We used them to buy our new home in late March. We decided to reamortize our loan right after we sold our old home to lower our monthly payments and remove some fees. Our lender told us it would take 30-45 days max. We started the process on April 2, and it's now June 22, and it's still not done. The loan servicing department cashed our lump sum for reamortization two months ago. Every time we try to contact someone, they either don't respond, or those who do respond don't understand the process and say they'll get back to us or escalate it, and then we hear nothing. I'm so disappointed in the lack of communication and the lack of a timely response to an issue that should have been completed over a month ago. Dealing with the loan servicing department has been terrible as no one takes responsibility for why this process isn't complete almost three months later.

It's frustrating that they waited so long to tell me about it and now I have to pay extra money. I went to First Federal Bank of Kansas City about three months ago to tell them that my husband has 100% permanent VA disability. This means he doesn't have to pay property taxes. We gave them a letter from the county tax office to show them how much we should pay. But they keep telling us they'll fix it and give us our money back, but they haven't done anything yet. We still have to pay a lot of money every month, and we won't get our money back for months.

Me and my wife refinanced our First Federal loan with the bank on January 8. We were supposed to get a refund of $10,170.58 from our existing escrow account as part of the deal. But we didn't get it by March. I contacted the Bank and they said they mailed it on January 24th. But they sent it to the wrong address. We have a PO Box, but they sent it to our physical address. We told them many times that it wouldn't work. Our first loan had the right address and so did our 3rd loan, but not this second loan. I sent many emails to the Loan officer and worked with customer service to fix the address. We got it fixed in March. But the loan officer said it was escalated to the Customer Service Manager and the VP of Operations, and we still haven't gotten our money back.

I was worried that the escrow refund check might not get to me in time at my then-residence in Colorado. The escrow account showed a withdrawal on June 26th, and the last day I received mail from that residence was July 1st. I sent multiple concerns about receiving the escrow refund properly, but they didn't reply much. When they did on the phone, they said they would do something about it but didn't. I was told via message on the secure account page that they couldn't rewrite the check until August 3rd. I sent two more requests via the secure account page and multiple messages to the loan officer requesting assistance. My last message was on August 5th via the secure account page. There has been a lack of communication for something seemingly simple. I originally requested the escrow to be rolled into the new refinance, but that wasn't an option. Now, after two months of house closing, I still haven't received the nearly $3K in escrow refund. Communication and effort to address my concern has been lackluster at best.

We called and they said to email customer service. They said it would take 10 days to fix but we didn't get any confirmation. After 15 days we called and found out they put the 1100 towards the principal without asking. They said they didn't know how it happened but they'd fix it before Thanksgiving. We called again and they said they sent a check. They promised to follow up but they never did. It's been almost a month and we missed out on the holidays. They haven't been very helpful even though we've been patient. They wouldn't take our mortgage check in the mail. I just want the same respect I give them. Thanks
