Scam debt collectors
I have been getting calls from this company since November of 2015. It was first a different name (of which I don't recall) which was based in Miami and serviced from Washington state. They stated that they were collecting a debt from a payday loan that I took out, which I have not. They don't tell me the company that is requesting my money. They state that if I don't pay tomorrow there will be law enforcement at my door that will arrest me and put me in jail and then take me to court. My husband then investigated how to handle this situation. We contacted our state attorney general office and filed an official complaint in which they in turn told us to file a report with local police and we have done this as well. Whenever these creeps call us which is at least 3 times a week we make them aware that they are a fraudulent company, that they cannot threaten us as they do (even though they continue to do so) and what we have done above. They ask for me to verify my SS number I refuse, they want me to verify my home address, I refuse. They then tell me good luck and then hang up.
Harassing phone calls for an unknown person
For the past month or more, I've been receiving harassing phone calls daily on my work number from First Recovery Associates at [protected]. My call log shows their first call was on 3/25/16, but everything prior to that date was already automatically erased. I'm pretty sure it's been over a month that they've been hounding me asking for someone I never heard of. I always screen calls from unknown area codes, so I've been clearing out voicemails from them for weeks. In the past 2 weeks, their calls have become incessant, multiples calls per day. It's always an automated call that doesn't say who they are or what they're calling about. It just says that they're calling for "Alicia M." (I'm not sure if it's a real person, so I won't say the full name) about a claim. Then they give a claim # and say, "If this isn't Alicia M., hang up and disregard this call." AS IF THAT WERE POSSIBLE! Earlier today, after their third call of the day, I finally had enough of it and called back to ask them to please stop calling me. That was the first time I heard the company's name. I had to ask the "employee" to repeat it 4 times, because I couldn't understand her. She had a foreign accent (Caribbean maybe?), but I think the miscommunication had more to do with her deliberately rushing through saying the company name and trying not to be understood rather than a genuine language barrier. She picked up in less than 1 ring and was very rude and seemed in a rush.
Her: "ThisissoandsofromFissReovAssoc. ThisisAliciaM...?"
Me: NO! This is NOT Alicia M! I've been trying to ignore these calls for weeks, but they won't stop! As far as I know, this was never Alicia M's number. PLEASE STOP CALLING ME!"
Her: Thank you. Click.
I'm SURE that wasn't the last I've heard from them, so, To be continued...

Repetitive calls asking for someone else. I told at least 6 callers I was not the party they wanted. Today I repeated that I was not the party they were looking for and threatened a harassment suite against them. Hoping it helps
Threatening Calls for Money I Never Borrowed
For the past few weeks I have been receiving calls from [protected].
An app I have on my phone said this was a number which received numerous complaints as spam, so I had been ignoring the calls.
Today, 3/7/16 I answered the call.
A woman on the line proceeded to tell me that she was calling in reference to a claim. She gave the last four digits of my social and named an address I have not lived at in 5 years.
She mentioned money I had allegedly borrowed for $300.00 in 2012 and another for $400 the same year.
I have not borrowed from any one.
When I told the woman that I haven't borrowed money and would like for her to send me information about these debts in the mail so that I could specifically see her allegations, she became angry and said that they had been sending me notices at my old address and that I am responsible for updating my address.
She asked me how I intended to take care of the debt today and I told her I had no intention of paying for something I knew nothing about.
She then said, I will see you in court and hung up.
I called the number back and a different woman answered. I asked for the name and address of her company and in a heavy accent which I could not understand, I asked her to spell the company. She spelled First Recovery Associates. I asked for the address. She said for 'security purposes I cannot give out our address'. She then hung up.
My mother, who is 87 years old informed me two days ago that she was receiving phone calls in which they say, 'this call is for (my name), if you are not (my name), please hang up."
I know this is a scam. It is the most annoying thing to have to deal with. What are the options to stop this kind of predatory activity against innocent people. I hate to think how many become intimidated and give in to their bullying.
This is the same message I heard today when I picked up to answer. I then was asked to press '9' for a representative.
I dealt with these jokers a few months ago when they called my mother, grandmother, and my employer looking for me and when they asked not to be contacted. They told my family members that I was in a severe car accident and they were medical staff seeking information but claimed that by law they could not tell them which hospital. I was not in any accident. They called the next day and claimed to be the police to my employer and told 2 random people who answered the phones that I committed multiple felonies for check fraud.
I called them several times and was told that they were a collection agency after verifying who I was. They said I received a cash loan for $2500. When I asked when they said sometime in 2013. When I asked what month and date I was advised they could not give that out. When I asked which bank it was deposited into. they said Bank of America, however, I have been with a Credit Union for about 10-years now. I asked them to mail me proof that I signed a contract for a loan and proof that it was deposited . They said they would only email it. That never happened. I checked all folders including Spam. Nada.
Days later, my grandmother received a call from these jokers claiming to be with the National Government for Fraud Investigations and that my family members would be arrested for harboring a fugitive (ME). Now, hold on. I have my BS.MS in Criminal Justice and Criminology with 12 years law enforcement experience and I am a former Criminal Investigator and in the past, I worked with the Secret Service on Check Fraud cases, I have never been arrested or charged with a crime!
I asked for supervisors and supposedly, they said those employees who lied about their credentials would be fired. Yeah right, The calls continued. Eventually, I blocked their phone number.
About an hour ago, I received a call from a cousin because he was annoyed with calls by these people. He gave me the same 844 area code and So, I called and the first person I spoke with; I said that I received a phone call from someone who has the same last name but not related (trying to get them to leave my cousin alone). I then asked what is this regarding. She spoke very little English. I gave her the claim number 3xs before hanging up on her because she kept reading the numbers back incorrectly.
I called back and said the same about someone with the same last name receiving calls about me (to help him from having to deal with this). The woman said it was regarding a loan that I received which i denied receiving. The company she mentioned I never heard of and then she said they own hundreds of companies (un hun). I asked which of the 100 is it that I supposedly took a loan from? She said there was no supposedly but that I had. I asked which company and she read off like 10 companies. I asked which of them and she said it doesnt show on her end. Yeah, sure!
I asked when was the loan taken and she said that I received it in 2013. I asked her to narrow it down to the month and date and she said she was not at liberty to provide me with that restrictive information. (Whatever)! I asked which bank and she said it was deposited into my Bank of America account. I said I never had a BOA account. She asked if I was calling her a liar and I said YES! She went on to say she has proof that I received a loan to a BOA acct with my personal information and she read off my SS#. I am thinking Identity Theft. I said I have been using the same bank for nearly 10-years and not BOA! She told me I was lying because according to her records they have my credit reports which shows 9 loans with BOA. First of all, why do they have my credit report; secondly, those were private student loans with the last taken out 2007. Looks like these scammers are pulling credit reports and skimming through any prior loans. When I had those loans, I still did not have a BOA account number. I asked for a supervisor and she hung up on me.
I called back and went though the same sh#! again. This time, when I asked for proof to be mailed to me of the deposit and the alleged BOA account #, month, day, and year, only then would I take any action. This woman also asked (I think I got the same person) if I was calling her a lair when she said info was mailed out 2-years ago. I said ABSOLUTELY! She said she didnt appreciate me accusing her of lying. I said I really did not care and began raising my voice. I asked for a supervisor and she went on to say the loan was for $5000 with a total of $9300.29 in late fees and collection fees but I could settle this right now over the phone for $500 but only via Western Union. -- because that doesnt sound like a bunch of BS! I demanded to speak with a supervisor and the woman said, "No. I will not transfer you to a supervisor, you are a very mean person and I want you off my phone immediately!" -- WTH! If she cant deal with upset customers especially those who feel scammed and over a company who lies about who they are to friends and family members of those they are trying to reach, then she is in the wrong business. Once again, I demanded a supervisor and she said that I was being a 'Meany" and that she didnt appreciate my tone. I told her that I didnt care if her feelings were hurt and that I wasnt going to pay a single dime until I receive proof. She said she would not send any more and that in order to avoid court and prison time that I needed to pay the settlement of $650. I asked what happened to the $500 and she said it went up due to my attitude. SAY WHAT?
I said, "You know what, take me to court." She said are you sure you really want to go to jail when I lose and pay over $10, 000 in fees including attorney fees? I said, "Yes! I would like my day in court!" I asked where court would be and she said NY. I said I am in Missouri and court does not require state by state travel by defendants. She ask, "Josh, why do you think you are better knowledge than me? Are you a lawyer?" I was like, you know what, just give me a dam supervisor and she said, "No. We dont have anyone who would want to talk with you until you learn the meaning of respect and phone edicacy. I said I would just call back until I get a supervisor and she had the nerve to tell me that repeated phone calls by me is against the law as harassment. She hung up. I tried calling back several time but not I keep getting a busy signal. Looks like they have now blocked me.
SCAM! SCAM!
These people have some nerve calling my house they don't even have the right person i have asked to be removed from their calling list they caim i owe money and i am not even the person they are looking for i am tired of the harassment they cuss you out hang up on you etc etc etc they need to be put out of business for this!
Collection Scam
I continue to receive numerous phone calls from these scammers. They continue to harass me regarding a false debt and when I try to probe for answers they get aggressive, yell and hang up the phone. In addition to calling me, they repetitively call my family members as well. I actually had one representative say find yourself a good attorney and good luck finding us.
