Pure AWESOME-NESS
This app is designed significantly well. With easy to read instructions & AWESOME "How-To Videos". You can customize the ingredient count when you add servings, that was the BEST part about trying to figure out HOW much I'm gonna need for more than 1-2 servings. This makes meal prepping so much fun. Usually we can all honestly say meal prepping gets boring after awhile because it's always the same stuff & you really don't know how to get creative.. Chicken, rice & veggies. Lol
This app helps ppl who aren't necessarily the best cooks.. It's a great way to continue to reach your goal & enjoy fantastic meals without having to eat "grass" (salads) lol all the time.. Awesome job Kevin, can't wait for more recipes (not that there isn't enough already!)
Intriguing and educational
I have been using FitMenCook for a few months now. He has so many prestigious featured recipes that will leave your mouth pouring saliva. Some of my few favorite are:
-Stuffed Pablano
-Coconut Curry & Turkey meatballs
-Upside down banana cakes
-Jalapeño popper burgers
-great meal prep plans too
and so much more guys.
It meets a diversity of needs whether your vegetarian or a carnivore your pescatarian or are looking for a post workout meal. This app is amazing. I show it off to all my friends and highly recommend it.
Myself as an aspiring nutritionist and chef I have an immense amount of respect for this gentleman and the way he gets things done. He's very well educated and always brings an optimistic attitude to the kitchen. So that's what I think of this app. BOOM!
Amazing!
I got the app the night it was released. It is the most useful, easy, practical and fun app to use for cooking and/or grocery shopping.
I can modify the amount of servings without using a calculator to change all the ingredients, everything on the shopping list can be divided by isles in the store or by the recipes.
I've followed Kevin on Instagram for years,I've used his videos from YouTube and now his app.It is the best of the both worlds.
For anyone looking to start eating clean,to up their cooking game,to learn new and fun recipes,and/or for fitness professionals it is a MUST!
Ever since it was released I've been cooking at least 1-2 recipes a week(I meal prep everything) and no more headache of what's for dinner or what am I going to snack on this week,it is amazing overall!
GET IT!
Honestly changed my life
This app is INCREDIBLE. The recipes are SO SO SO healthy and so tasty. There is a lot of ingredient overlap, so I buy all of them in bulk knowing I’ll use them again at some point. Absolutely incredible food and VERY healthy. I promise you that if you only eat recipes from here and don’t even work out, you’ll lose weight. If you work out, you’ll gain muscle and lose fat. These recipes are incredibly thoughtful and a good fit for anyone’s taste. You can find something for anyone in the house. There’s a helpful shopping list feature to help you keep track of ingredients, and you can easily adjust servings to change ingredient amounts. Instructions are detailed and videos are very well-made. Best investment I made for my fitness goals was buying this app. Honestly 10000x than any meal plan
Great app for beginners
I’ve been using this app for about two months and I love the ease of planning out my week and creating a shopping list. My only wish is that they would put the ounce of a serving. For instance if you make the raw vegan berry cheesecakes it says 398 calories per serving but doesn’t outright tell you what a serving size is. You have to lower the serving amount and do some figuring out of how much one serving should weigh. It be great for it to just say 4oz is a serving. I also wish I could change the calorie amount for the meal plan program. The lowest it will go is 1500 calories/days, but I’m at a 1400 calories/day for my deficiency. Other than those two request I really enjoy the app. The interface is easy, there are tons of options and it helps making organizing your food for the week simple.
I don't usually write reviews but this is excellent!
As the title states, I don't usually write reviews but when I find something as outstanding as this I'm telling everybody about it. Kevin from Fitmencook is the truth! It's fun to watch his videos as he guides you along making the process so easy to follow. His charisma shines through and you can tell that he must be a fun person to know. Somebody give that guy a cooking show on prime-time already!
I use this app everyday! This has become my go-to app for feeding myself (a proud health and fitness enthusiast) and my family. Everything I've made has been awesome and it feels good knowing that I'm feeding my kids healthy foods that taste great and are visually appealing.
The app is very well-designed and gets just better and better. It was worth every penny and I would definitely buy it again.
Life’s better
I’ve always used the fitmencook website to find the best most healthiest meals out there. I’ve been meal prepping for 3-4years now. When I found the website I was so grateful for all the new healthy recipes to try. Yet, when I saw there was an app and got it. It was life changing. I didn’t have to hand write my personal grocery list along with the items from the recipes, instead able to add it all into the app. Instead of writing down my meals for the week, I was able to just go back and review them under the meal planning section. I can adjust the serving sizes to what I need and it update the grocery list to go with my serving sizes per each meal. Honestly the app just makes meal prepping and eating healthy easier in general even for someone who has been doing it for years. I recommend to all my friends who ask me about meal prepping and eating healthier
Stop Wasting Time
Listen. Being in the military and having a busy schedule is something that is my everyday life. I have been following Kevin since he started his journey with FitMenCook and I have enjoyed cooking some of the recipes and just following some of the helpful cooking tips he has. But not until you start meal prepping with this wonderful app and awesome dude will you really start seeing the differences. I have little time throughout the week to use for my own personal time and setting aside 2 hours on the weekend for a week of delicious food is changing the way I eat. Not only do I have healthier meals but I am also spending less time with the nasty food you can get in a hurry on base. This has not only helped me eat healthier. This has allowed me to stop skipping meals and allows me to not worry about time wasted to get food. I’m telling you guys this app is a great investment.
Wish recipes had reviews!
First of all - beautiful app and easy to use. But! There is no way to see what others thought of the recipe or any tweaks they'd recommend. I just cooked my first recipe through the app - the shepherds pie with sweet potatoes. It had a very interesting taste but while I SHOULD have picked up on how the paprika and chili powder would affect the spicy factor... I was on auto pilot. So that dish was hella spicy! And we're going to end up throwing over half of it away which bugs me.
I'm game to try another recipe or two, but that didn't set us off on the right footing. Wish it had at least said something more than "it incorporates southwestern flavor" in the description such as blatantly saying "if you like spicy food this may be for you!" For tired people who don't much like cooking and are just looking for good food recipes that are healthy like me lol who often cook on auto pilot.
Great all around
I enjoy cooking, but dislike planning and shopping for groceries. Meal planning has become a necessity in my life. I've used many apps before this one, so I was skeptical that this app would be any different. Well, I've been able to clear my screen of all the other apps. This one just works. You can scroll tons of recipes, favorite them, and add them to a shopping list based on the proportions you want to cook. So easy. There hasn't been a recipe my wife or I haven't loved. It's been invaluable to the point where I feel it should be auto-loaded on every new iPhone.
Kevin, the man behind FitMenCook, is awesome. I don't know the guy, but you get the feeling that he would treat you to a family dinner if you ever crossed paths. His pairing of YouTube videos with his recipes and meal plan challenges show off his skill, knowledge, and love for what he does, and makes it easier to visualize the process of cooking the recipes.
Recipes are different online
It's a good app when the recipes match. However, when the recipes are different on the app and I have to check online anyways it makes the app pointless.
Case in point... slow cooker turkey cilantro chili. Calls for only 1 can of beans in app but 2 cans online. That's not cool. So now I don't feel like I can trust the app at all and have to look online anyways.
Also, some recipes in the app have what looks like a generic banner saying you can use a rice cooker or slow cooker. That's not the case. They cook differently and won't work the same for different recipes. However, the app doesn't include different instructions based on what you're using.
The shopping cart is nice. You can add ingredients right to the list and it's well organized.
The meal prep tab is stupid. You can only make a meal prep schedule for one day unless you feel like paying more. Feels a little cheap with that.
Still a good app, just needs some fine tuning.
Very Helpful
For someone who is recently focused on diet and meal prepping, this app is perfect. It takes the exhaustion out of finding healthy recipes that fit the diet you are working to maintain. The instructions are clear and helpful and the shopping list feature is great.
One note that I think could make this a next level fitness app would be the inclusion of a macro consumption tracker in the app. This app provides all the macro nutritional info on a per serving basis and also lets you organize the meal prep per day. It even lets you send serving sizes to the Apple Health app. But, if I could just log the portions of each meal I ate for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack each day, it would be far easier. Having all the tracking information in one place, such as this app, would truly put this app above and beyond any others.
If you add the consumption tracker I don’t think I see another app on the market that can compete at this price point. Well done in making what is currently available though, very helpful.
Amazing!
I was blown away by this app. I’m usually skeptical about apps that cost money, and I spend a lot of time looking into them. I look at a lot of the reviews, and stuff online about the app. Well, it took me 5 minutes of research and looking at reviews to download this app. I had high hopes for it, and it did NOT disappoint. For how cheap the app is, it is definitely worth the money. You have 1000+ recipes in the app, and they’re all healthy! It’s amazing! There are many different types of foods and I really do love the app. I’ve been meal prepping for awhile, and I started having a hard time finding recipes online, so I decided to take a look at some apps for meal prepping, and this was one of the first ones to show up. This app changed the way I eat a lot. From eating chips, cosmic brownies, a caprie sun, and a lunchable to eating full on healthy meals, like burgers, or chicken tenders…it’s AMAZING! I’m down 10 pounds from exercising, and eating really well. All of my meals have came from this app, and it’s doing good for me. I HIGHLY recommend this app. :)
This was JUST what I needed
I stumbled upon this app when looking up healthy meal prep recipes. I was a little surprised after paying $3.99 that I had to pay MORE for the Pro version, BUT it’s worth it. Lots of new recipes I can’t wait to try because I’ve been stuck in my way. It’s sort of like MyFitnessPal but better because there’s specific recipes with instructions and the BEST part is the shopping list which breaks it down by aisle or recipe - made my life so much easier. My ONLY suggestion is that they open up their market towards women. Women enjoy fitness too! The name “Fit Men Cook” almost turned me away when I first looked at it, and nothing on here is specifically for men so I’m glad I kept looking. I also wish the “Add your own meal” function allowed me to search for foods to add (sort of like the My Fitness Pap app). I’m never sure how much is in my meal so for example I need to go to MyFitnessPal to enter in all the ingredients in my protein shake and then take that info back to FMC. Just an extra step I didn’t wish I had to do. Otherwise, game changer and highly recommend!
A lot of potential, but badly needs technical editing
The app has a great interface and offers a lot of cheerful, colorful photos that look attractive and encourage cooking. Further more, the scalable recipes and emphasis on meals that can be batch cooked make it useful for single people who are meal planning-challenged. So there is a lot of potential here.
That said, a number of the recipes contain confusing instructions like: roasting bell peppers, chopping bell peppers, and then stuffing bell peppers (how many bell peppers should be chopped? How many stuffed? Are all of them roasted? Why does 8 servings call for 6 bell peppers?); or place item in a bowl, cook item, and two steps later, microwave item for two more minutes after adding additional ingredients (I'm supposed to cook in a bowl?! Oh I was supposed to microwave them? Why didn't they just say that up front?).
For the price, the app delivers a cheap, useful cook book, but at this app price point I expect more refinement in the recipes themselves. But it should be an easy fix: contract with a free lance technical writer for a few hours work and the recipe instructions will live up to the other elements in the app.
Awesome app in need of an update
The app does a good job of showing recipes when you break it down into your macros (I.E. protein content, carb content and fat content, along with others) but when you use the meal planner and you are really focusing on staying within your limits it could be tough to go back and forth piecing recipes together. If the app could adopt a goal calculator like a my fitnesspal app as well as allow you to use an additional filter like when I'm in the low carb section but I still want to maintain a higher protein intake but most I select are low protein with the exception of a few, but when I select "sort" in the upper right corner the only two selections I can make are "sort by name" and "sort by most recent".. If you could make more subcategories available for sort like higher protein, low fat, low carb or even something that would allow you to set a limit of each macro for that day and even if you want to get elaborate and do weekly and monthly, that would be awesome! All in all this app provides a great way to mix up the boring life of eating healthy and meal prepping. I want to thank Kevin for his awesomeness! As well as Andreas for bringing Mr. Currys recipes to us via the App Store.
Changed the Way I Eat
Ok so I’ve been putting off this review for years so here goes. I started using this app way back when it first came out, I had never heard of the blog or anything. At that time I had just graduated from college and was starting my first ‘real job’. Let’s just say while I had kind of grown up my lunch packing skills were still at an elementary school level . I brought two uncrustables a bag of chips and some applesauce every day. I needed a change and meal prepping was the trend so I found this app and gave it a try. Well..it’s now almost 2018 and I still use the app every week when I do my shopping and prepping. I prep all of my breakfasts and lunches M-F as well as few dinners. I have my go to favorites but also love to try the new stuff that is constantly being added. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to make the bbq shepherds pie every meal . Bottom line I am not only saving a ton of money but I’ve also really smashed a lot of my fitness goals. I have recommended this app to so many people and will continue to every time someone says “what’s in that mason jar?” or “Your lunch always smells so good”. Download the app, try the recipes, experiment and make them your own. Before you know it you’ll be cranking out a weeks worth of meals in an hour and saving money on that grocery bill. Do it!
Game Changing Healthy Cooking App!
I've been following Kevin and Fit Men Cook for over a year now and I've done nothing but love their stuff! When I found out about that they were making an app, I couldn't have been more excited. Threw 5/12 on the calendar and watched the countdown like a little kid waiting for his birthday.
Once I dove into the app, it was everything I hoped for and then some!
Initial appearance:
Beautiful layout, the colors and design are like looking in a fully stocked fridge full of fresh, colorful produce (something that'll most likely happen soon after downloading this app!).
Functionality:
- Runs super smooth with hardly any loading times. The app is incredibly easy to operate. I'm a dude who loves to read start-up guides and follow training tutorials to make sure I completely understand new things, but with this app, I didn't think of those things once. It's that easy to use!
Convenience:
- A+++! This app does everything for you. Provides unique recipes for you with pictures, and sometimes videos, telling you all about em. Converting between US and metric measurements happens with one tap of the screen. Cooking for multiple ppl? Just tap how many servings you want and the ingredients list adjusts itself.
My favorite feature is the shopping list. Say you're looking at a recipe you love online that you want to create. You gotta either take a pic of it, write it down, or print out the page to take to the store for your ingredients. Fit Men Cook flipped the script on that! See a recipe you like, simply tap "Add To Shopping" and then all the ingredients get sent to the in-app "Shopping" tab! You can even organize the shopping list by aisle in the grocery store or by recipe! So cool.
I could go on & on about this app, but you just gotta see it for yourself. Seriously, this app will make cooking like a healthy champion a breeze.

In app purchases
This app has great potential but in order to use it to its full potential you have to pay a subscription. What's the point of paying for the app if I still have to pay monthly. The app should either be free with monthly subscription or a paid app with no monthly subscription. It shouldn't be both
False Pricing
So, here is my issue. I was charged $3.99 for this app, however upon opening it up, I discover that I am unable to use all the features. You are forced to pay MORE money in order to add items to your own meal plan and shopping list.
Why you charged for an incomplete version. Very false pricing.
Not 100% but yet promising
I bought the app due to the reviews. The recipes looked simple and delicious. As I'm making the flank steaks I noticed that cilantro is not in the recipe but it is in the video. Still has a few kinks that need to be worked out. I would like to see a new recipe more often in the app not the news letter.

Some recipes are misleading
I've used this app for months and follow the instructions closely. Some recipes are WAY off on the quantities. Spanish rice for example has you add 5 cups of broth plus 1.25 cups of water for just two cups of rice. That's a recipe for the mushiest, most watery Spanish rice ever. Thumbs down. I'm over this app.
Charged you regardless of you accepting a charge
I thought this app was free. It doesn’t require you accept a “charge” as part of an agreement in order to keep the app.
It’s not worth it. I could just go on YouTube for free and get the same recipes. Also, the videos in the app and the measurements in the instructions are off! I’m going to dispute this charge!
Let down
This app is well-made, but I was really disappointed to discover that there's such a small selection of recipes and most of the recipes that Kevin has featured on Instagram aren't included in the app. Maybe he plans on adding these—and if he does, I'll come back and upgrade my review—but, for now, I feel let down.
Me as well as hundreds can’t use this app
I love this app. I really do. But I cannot use it sadly because along with me, hundreds of other people are on a gluten free diet. I can’t eat gluten because it hurts my joints but I imagine this is a bigger problem for other users. If the devs add agluten free filter the app will be perfect in my eyes. Sadly, I just can’t use it ☹️.
Disappointing
Not as exciting as advertised. The man cooks a salmon fillet in the microwave, for one. His "savory chicken quinoa" recipe involved tossing store-bought rotisserie chicken with quinoa that he cooked in a microwave. He added chopped green onion and that was it. There are a number of free healthy recipes online that are much better than anything contained in this app. Save your money.
Waste of money
What a waste of money - I got this for the bulk meal prep recipes and the few in here share the theme of most recipes: cook a bunch of chicken. Thanks I was already doing that? A lot of the recipes seem unappetizing and strange and include a lot of 'trendy' ingredients that don't really add much to the macros or taste. Save yourself a few bucks and Google some recipes instead, the app itself doesn't justify the cost.
Mostly fine, but lacking key feature
The app looks great. Plenty of recipes, lots of visuals, nice interface. I'm sure it's fine for many people.
But the main thing preventing me from using it is that I can't exclude recipes that use ingredients I can't or don't like to eat. For instance, dairy.
As an app which has a goal of providing food info, giving at least some coarse filtering capabilities for dietary restrictions is important. Manually sifting through the recipes kills the experience.
Why should I pay more??
Nothing makes me more mad when you pay for a app and then when you open it they only allow you to do so many things before paying more money. Like for instance if you want to create your own meal plan they only allow you to put 6 recipes in and then you have to pay to use the “full” service of the app. If they are gonna do that then they should make the app free and then charge you. I should of listened to the bad reviews I saw and just got the recipes off their website.
BUYER BEWARE
This app is big in idea but small in content. I would like to find a community sharing healthy recipes instead of a limited recipie app designed by one person.
So is every fitness person looking to make a quick buck going to create their own recipie app? I hope not and this will be the last one I purchase of this kind.
The way it is now is a rip off get others to contribute recipes and maybe it will be worth what you are asking.
I am very disappointed with this app purchase.
Where's the Zero star!
So I've been following this guy for a while now on YouTube. To say the least, he's the go to guy for quick meals and snacks. The first day that I saw that he had an app I jumped right on it thinking it was going to be a lot more accessible since it was an app. Unfortunately I was wrong. Ever since I've had the app, the company has failed to keep up with the videos. I mean they haven't event updated in over a month, while on YouTube they've uploaded a bunch of new recipes. I mean really? Then what's the app for. Extremely disappointed and Unsatisfied. I want my money back.
Too many green foods
I purchased this app because of the incredibly positive feedback but it just isn’t right for my personal use. The app and recipes themselves are not bad, they look great! The balance of food is simply askew. Healthy eating does not mean going green everything, it means balancing your diet. This app is perfect for those looking for vegan/green diets. Seafood is also big in this app for those looking. If you are looking for beef/chicken/pork then you will be at a loss with this app as it has very minimal selections. This app has so much potential and I would love for it to work for me.
Most Meals are Disappointing
This app was recommended on a whim by the App Store, so I did a quick peek, read some reviews, and took a plunge.. not worth it. Many meals involve items I cannot easily find at the grocery store (CACTUS? I reside in GA, USA.. there are no cacti,) or combine unappealing ingredients, typically Greek yogurt, as a substitute for almost EVERY 'normal' dish ingredient. If you don't like Greek yogurt, avoid this app. Lol. Also, if you're like me, and don't enjoy seafood, that eliminates even more dishes... there are actual, free healthy meal apps out here. Should've researched beforehand.
Tasty recipes, poor planning for meal prep
In reading about this app, I was under the impression that once a meal plan was put together, it would generate a comprehensive meal prep plan (combining prep for recipes that use common ingredients) so that I could bust out half a week's worth of meals in one afternoon. This is so NOT the case. A lot of the recipes are have long ingredient lists, and prepping and cooking these meals is rather labor intensive if you cook one at a time. I would love to see a new update with a recommended prep/cook plan to streamline the whole process. Also, the subscription is a waste of money as it adds no real functionality or extra benefits.
What about the money I paid a few years ago?
I was an original supporter of FMC back when it was coming up. I PAID for the original pro version of the app before there was a subscription plan, to get the features. I even jumped on the MPP app because I liked what you had to offer. But I noticed I wasn’t using the MPP app as much as I wanted to because of life. I went back to using the original FMC app for recipes but noticed that now I have to pay a subscription?
I don’t think this is fair to people who have supported you from the start. You should “grandfather” original supporters like me who already paid for the features in your app.
I want to give you guys 5 stars, but honestly this just feels like a cashgrab and I’m insulted.
Great initially, not long term
This app was a good resource initially, but it is no longer sustainable long term. He rarely updates the app and posts new recipes on his Facebook and FitMenCook website more often so I kinda feel jipped. Deleted the app and will just use recipes from other sources including his FitMenCook website. Don’t buy this app just go to the site.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
