G Adventures is a company led by someone named *** Tip. They arrange extraordinary trips that are meant to be unforgettable, but unfortunately, they sometimes cancel these trips and deny customers their refunds. Instead, they provide a so-called "credit" that holds no value. This behavior is highly unethical and their customer service is extremely impolite. I strongly advise against using G Adventures.

G Adventures This company is shady, sketchy, and underhanded

This company is shady, sketchy, and underhanded. Let me start by saying I've been on at least nine G Adventures tours and I've convinced more than a few friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to book with G over the years, touting their former virtues to everyone I know. Never again. I was booked on a G trip to Hawaii for November. My travel agent warned me not to book with G this time, saying they've become sketchy and she tries to avoid them. I thought she was crazy. I made her do it. I should have listened. G canceled my tour for no apparent good reason. I know a number of people who have traveled to Hawaii recently and they said it's open and there is no problem. G gave no logical explanation. But that's not even the real issue. Remember: G canceled a guaranteed departure tour that I was still ready, willing, and counting on going on. I did not pull out, ask to postpone, or otherwise try to change my plan. This was G's unilateral decision. And then G said it was keeping my $350 deposit. This is insane. Basically, they were holding my money hostage as a "future deposit" to force me onto some future G Tour. After expending way too much energy and frustration fighting with G, the company finally agreed to return my money. Hallelujah. But nope. It decided to pull even more shenanigans. My chargeback came through and it is only $290 of my $350. Because G decided to make me pay the travel agent for something I'm not responsible for paying. In fact, no one should be paying the travel agent because the tour was canceled. Travel agents generally do not get paid until after a trip is over. If G wants to pay the travel agent anyway, that is up to G. But it has no business using my money to do it. This is G's responsibility to pay no matter the circumstance. Why the h*** is it coming out of my pocket? I never again want to deal with a company that engages in such shady business practices. Consider yourself warned.

On March 18, I booked a tour with Gadventure, Booking:#*** and paid a $700 deposit. On August 28, Gadventure cancelled the tour and didn't give back the deposit. Instead, they offered a credit for future travels. It feels like they're keeping our money to make more money on another trip.

On December 5, I booked a tour with G Adventures and paid a deposit. The tour was supposed to happen in October . G Adventures done cancelled that tour and won't give me back the $350 I paid. G Adventures says I can only leave the money with them forever, give it to someone else, or donate it to them. I paid $350 and got nothing in return, so I want my money back, all of it.

Tour operator cancelled our trip and won't give us our money back. They promise that all trips will happen, but they cancelled ours. They say if we cancel, they keep our deposit, but that doesn't apply here because they cancelled. They didn't give us the service we paid for. We want a full refund because they broke their promise and couldn't run our tour.

G Adventures I booked a trip with G Adventures and paid a deposit of $350 and an extra $1,000

I booked a trip with G Adventures and paid a deposit of $350 and an extra $1,000. I canceled my spot on the trip on July 1, which was before the 60-day cutoff. According to the contract, if I cancel, the Lifetime Deposit will be held by the Tour Operator, and the rest of the payments made will be refunded. They said it would take at least 4 weeks for the refund. After 6 weeks, I contacted them again, and they said it would take at least 6 months. Waiting that long for a refund is totally unacceptable. I want my $1,000 back as soon as possible, and it should be credited to my credit card.

I bought a trip (Iconic Mardi Gras New Orleans 2022) with G Adventures, from Affordable Tours. This trip got canceled twice in a year, without any reasons given. The second time it happened, I asked for the whole cost of the trip to be refunded to me as a check. I feel like I've been ignored and pushed aside because I don't want to accept the travel credit they offered. Arch Solutions won't honor the travel insurance since G Adventures and Affordable Tours canceled the trip. I don't feel comfortable trusting any company that handles their customers so carelessly, especially those who take trips for their physical and mental well-being. So, respectfully, I just want the entire cost of the trip back as a check, as soon as possible.

G Adventures On March 15 or so, I booked a trip to "Ultimate *** and ***" and my pre-trip and first 10 days were really good

On March 15 or so, I booked a trip to "Ultimate *** and ***" and my pre-trip and first 10 days were really good. I contracted a minor case of Covid on the 20th, and was kicked off the tour. I lost $2367 and some change. The company will not apply it to the next trip, they are just keeping it and told me to go through my insurance. I feel that this is unethical. They are being illegally enriched on my dime. Yes, I have cancel for any reason, trip cancellation/interruption and medical insurance for this trip. Since I did not want to stay in one place, and it was difficult to get to the Pyrenees, and the 4 others decided that as well, I did my own tour. I ended up paying another $2800 to redo the tour. My insurance will cover that, but I believe that G Adventures should apply that $ to my next trip. I have requested that, but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.My ask is: return of S2367 or to have that money applied to my next trip.

I'm not sure if this is the right department, and I hope you can forward this to the appropriate one. I'm really frustrated with the refusal and the long delay in returning my $8000.00 that I paid for my grandson's trip to Africa with G Adventures. We had to cancel due to the virus and some other issues. I understand that National Geographic G Adventures would keep about $200.00, but it's unacceptable that it's taking so long to return the rest of my money. I canceled well within the agreed-upon terms, and I'm on a fixed income and need the money as soon as possible. Please feel free to contact me by email or phone, or pass this on to the right person. Below, you'll find a few of the MANY exchanges, and it's strange that when I made a NEW reservation, I got an immediate response.

G Adventures I had a trip booked with G Adventures for Oct 2020

I had a trip booked with G Adventures for Oct 2020. At that time, I gave a deposit, paid for travel insurance and flights (Iberia) in the amount of $1928. Because of Covid, the trip got cancelled. They said they would refund the travel insurance and ask for a refund from Iberia. The $350 deposit would be available for any other trip, but G Adventures would hold the flight refund as travel funds. Right now, I've tried to contact them in many ways and times, but no luck. I've emailed, called, been placed on hold for over an hour, tried their online chat, and held on for long periods without any connection. I've called many times with the same results. I want to rebook this trip using my travel funds, but I can't get anyone to speak with. When I try to book it online, there's no place to use the money they're holding. I'm scared that this company will go under and I'll lose my money and never go on this trip.

I paid $350 for a G Adventures tour on March 6, 2022, for their Best of *** tour, set to leave on June 25, 2022. When I reached out to G Adventures on March 29, 2022, about booking flights for the trip, they replied, "They're still figuring out if the tour is happening or not, you'll get an email letting you know." This was the first time G Adventures mentioned that the tour might not happen. All previous emails said the trip was confirmed (many times). I asked when we would get confirmation if the tour was happening. They didn't give a clear answer, just said I'd "get an email." I explained that if the tour wasn't confirmed, we wanted our deposit back since they weren't providing the service they promised. They refused to refund the deposit and didn't give any more information. It's clearly wrong for them to keep money for a service they won't confirm or provide.

I bought a trip to *** that was supposed to leave on Dec 20, 2021. G Adventures canceled it 'cause of covid worries. They booked the plane ticket for the trip as part of their service. They're sayin' the airline says the ticket ain't refundable, and g adventures won't take responsibility for givin' me back the money for the trip. They're sayin' I agreed to buy a non-refundable ticket. I did agree to the terms, but I ain't the one who canceled the trip. They canceled it and I expect to get the full refund of what I paid for the trip. They said I'll get a refund for the part I paid directly to them, but it'll take months to process. Both are totally not okay. The plane ticket cost $2500 and the trip was $3100. I expect to get the whole $5600 back. They said the airlines won't even give me a credit for the full value of the flight. They only gave me ten days to try and figure out how to rebook a flight and make it for $2500. This is awful. I was plannin' to use this money for the trip. BE CAREFUL - DON'T BOOK ANY TRIPS WITH THIS COMPANY.

G Adventures I booked a trip with G Adventures on 4/13

I booked a trip with G Adventures on 4/13. They said cuz of COVID, they had to cancel the trip. They said I could re-book it for a later date. I re-booked on 7/14. When I re-booked the terms said I wouldn't need to show proof of COVID vaccine, just a negative COVID test before the trip. They told me later that they changed their terms and I would need to show proof of vaccine for the trip. I didn't wanna get the vaccine, so I asked for a refund since they messed up and changed the terms after I booked. They first said no refund, I could re-book the trip. I told them I couldn't re-book cuz all their trips now need a vaccine. After a month and a half of emails, they finally told me on 12/15, they would give me a full refund of $2, 100.65 for the trip. They said I had to fill out a form they gave me for Western Union to start the process. I did it in the first week of January 2022. Western Union's website said money transfers could take 3-5 biz days. G Adventures' customer service now takes weeks to reply to my emails, I usually have to send one or two to ask them to reply. They can't give me a timeline for when I'll get my refund. In the emails, they said it's "in the queue" and "it could take months". It's been months now and they haven't replied to my emails to give me an update on when I'll get my refund. I'm scared they'll ignore me and never give me my refund. This is urgent cuz my grandma got sick and I had to take unpaid leave from work to take care of her. I need this refund ASAP. I have all the emails from G Adventures that I can give to ComplaintsBoard.com to help fix this. Please give me an email address to send them to.
