Date of incident - 6/19/2018 I fell at Church on 6-10-18 which resulted in a break to my left shoulder. I was taken via ambulance to Barnes Kasson Hospital. They do not deal with shoulder repalcements and advised that I need to be seen elsewhere. They set up an appointment for me to see Dr. Gregory Francis Thomas on [protected] At CMC Geisinger in Scranton...

Geisinger Health System inability to get doctor appointments in that me required by care

I need to receive botox shots around my eyes on a 3 month basis in order to control involuntary blinking, or blepherospasm. I have to travel from Scranton to Wilkes Barre to receive them, nearly 50 miles round trip, because you don't have anyone who does this in Scranton. Now I can't get my December shots because Dr Friedenberg is not coming to Wilkes Barre at all in December. This is not acceptable. This is a continued problem with having to wait months for an appointment with a specialist only to have them cancel a week before appointment and not rescheduling for months more. You clearly need more specialists, especially in Scranton. Also, some of the the rescheduling is due to Geisinger and not the doctors themselves. Need to get my injections in December! What solution do you have?

Geisinger Health System assessed a $16,000 bill for danville medical center

August 30, 2018 Albert Sipple was scheduled for cardiac catherization at Wilkes Barre General Hospital, Wilkes Barre PA. Determined that a triple or quadrupal bypass was necessary and John Ellis, Cardiologist said he wanted Albert to be ambulanced immediately to Danville Hospital for Advanced Medicine for the operation by Michael Harostock, scheduled first thing in the morning on August 31. No choice was given to Albert or his wife, Cynthia and no knowledge of any pricing was given, nor information about what his insurance would or would not cover, it was that much of an emergency situation. Had that not been the case, we could of assessed whether or not Geisinger Danville would have been our choice. Albert has Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance through his employer. Obviously we are not in a position to be able to pay this exorbitant bill, Albert was a warehouse worker and I am on Social Security Disability. This bill must be satisfied by insurance in some fashion, the fact that it was an emergency ambulance entry to Danville and no options were presented to either of us tells the entire complaint and we would like this matter taken care of and addressed with seriousness. Thank you, Cynthia Sipple, spouse of Albert Sipple, 1423 N. Washington Street, Wilkes Barre, PA [protected] [protected]@juno.com

Geisinger Health System doctor

I recently 9/17/2018 had my Daughter see ENT and after that visit and the poor manner in which we were treated it lead me to file this complaint about said ENT Doctor.
We no longer will have any further appts at the BIG G .

She received no resolution nor did I as the parent get the most important question I had answered by him.

We waited MONTHS for said appt, after leaving there I had seen family dr and he put a referral in to a off campus Dr and within "4" hours I was called and we have an appt with another ENT.

Just goes to show what the BIG G has come to. Im going to follow through with this complaint in other avenues as well.

Geisinger Health System unethical behavior

A dermatologist performed a lip biopsy leaving me with a huge scar, even though she told me beforehand it would heal without a scar in less than a week. She later admitted she was wrong to do the biopsy but told me she'd deny it if I made a formal complaint. I tried making a complaint for weeks, but every time I called I was told the people in that department had gone home for the day, and they never returned the messages I left.
Eventually I explained my complaint to a receptionist who said she would pass my information along. A few days later, I got a call from someone who worked in a different department. He said no one was in the complaint department that day, so they enlisted him to investigate my complaint. He said he didn't actually know what my complaint was, but when he asked the dermatologist if she did anything wrong, she said no. And they now considered the matter closed.
When someone from the actual complaint department finally returned my calls a few days later, I was told they couldn't investigate the same complaint more than once. I explained to them that the guy who supposedly investigated never talked to me beforehand and didn't even know what my complaint was, but they said that didn't matter. I then called back and explained the situation to someone in the administrative department, and he told me if I ever call about this again, Geisinger will sue me for harassment.

Geisinger Health System wait time for a sick toddler - ressler center shamokin, pa

Yesterday, I was able to secure a 3:40p.m. follow-up appointment for my toddler (who has been sick for weeks.) As a full time employee of the Commonwealth, I had to take MY time off of work (which ends at 4:30 p.m.) to take him. After sitting with a sick and crabby toddler in a hospital room for over an hour, I left. I am with a sick toddler so that in and of itself should tell you something. There are no rooms/toys available for toddlers to play so I attempted to keep him entertained. At no time did any nurse or doctor come in to explain why I was waiting or even check on him. If this has to do with overbooking, that is on the hospital staff - not me. I can tell you this, I will be requesting my family's medical records so we can go elsewhere. This isn't the first time this has happened. We've been going there for years and all of our insurance/updated information is on file so for over an hour I was tasked with chasing my crying and antsy toddler around a hospital room. I am extremely upset that I had to take my earned time off of work for my son to not even be seen. Come on, Geisinger.

Geisinger Health System policy

19 year old daughter had nurse visit to receive follow up immunization. Nurse came in and said she needed three diffrerent medications. My daughter told them to check she thought it was just one, 45 minutes later the nurse came in and told her she spoke with the nurse practitioner and she definitely needed all three shots. The nurse gave one shot each arm told her she had to sit for 15 minutes because the second shot can get you dizzy or you can react to it but immediately told her to STAND for third shot in buttocks. My daughter told the nurse she felt like she was going to pass out as soon as she stood but nurse continued to give shot. My daughter fainted and hit her head. I was called into the room when my daughter was still on floor. the nurse looked at me and said it took a long time to figure out her immunization record because there must be another patient with her name. Check your records at home to see if "I was right"! no one worried about a concussion. She was given script for Zofran no labs done just "Come see a doctor Tommarrow" At that doctor visit the doctor told her she did not need all shots! Also no one did EKG or labs again . We do have to see a neurologist, have eeg, and MRI Very POOR
practice. Praying she did not have concussion as she still has headache. This was not even addressed!

Geisinger Health System family medicine

Called On Aug 8th for an appointment to see a general practitioner, next available appointment was January 25th. How is this Community care? They care more about their fresh fruit program than seeing patients, they drive all of the local Drs. out of business and make all employees use geisinger for in network coverage, then there is no one to see for miles. Geisinger has fallen apart.

Geisinger Health System wait time

Appt. with Dr. Ryan J Roza in Bloomsburg today @ 10am aarived @ approx 9:45 Pre-visit procedures done by approx 9:55-left in trmt room to wait-
This visit was a follow-up to my problem. I had spent 2 days @ level 6 and 2 days @ 5.
After waiting for awhile--not knowing how long I'd been in there--went to desk--it was
10:20--told I was next after he got done with current pt.
I had to go out a time--and the clock said 10:35---was told the same thing.
No one came in, during my time to tell me anything---I found out by checking on it myself.
So I left--and was told the same thing as I was leaving---
If the problem with that pt. was taking a long time, maybe he should have been in the ER, rather than in the off-site ortho clinc.
So I now have to put up with my pain, in both shoulders, until I see my primary on 6/22--for another referral and then wait, some more days, for the referral visit.

Geisinger Health System waiting for ct scan

I am very disappointed with Geisinger health system. My husband had CT scan done on 5/8/2018 and one week when by without result, no update. The ordering doctor kept telling us that Radiologist hasn't review the result. Now... how in the world one week went by and no one reviewing the study. We are worry sick about the possible findings. She said there are abnormality noted but radiologist hasn't review it? Many of people I spoke to, using different hospital reciev d their result within 3 days. I understand is bigger hospital but when u have abnormal findings and it's been a week went by and no one care to follow up, this is grossly negligent. What if the findings required immediate planning and interventions. They all take their time reviewing stuff and we all just bunch of freaking number for them and no emotion attach. I am so furious about this.

Geisinger Health System mammogram

I had a mammogram at Silver Creek radiology today April 3, 2018. It was the worse experience in my 59 years of xrays. The xray technician was Kimbra. Very miserable. No smile no reassurance no nothing. Having a mammogram is a very private and embarrassing X ray plus scary because breast cancer is so scary and can be fatal. I never want this person to do any xray for me again. It started off with her asking me questions about my prior mammogram which I have no record of. Done in Delaware years ago...just can't remember details of address date time ext. She went on and on and I said please stop I had enough of this yesterday after Dr. Appointment when the rep was calling to get me an appt. The rep on other end from Geisinger went on and on and said I cannot have a mammogram if I don't have prior information. They said Geisingers policy. What! What a ridiculous crazy reason. It is on TV in books on websites on billboards to have a mammogram. I waited because I put myself last taking care if my Vietnam Veteran husband whom is 100 percent disability and very ill. I finally try and get xrays and tests done and this happens...no thank you. It wasn't the Silver Creek Doctors office. They are awesome to me and the office manager Michelle stepped in and got me scheduled today. So after my horrid cold miserable degrading mammogram from Kimbra a tech who really truly needs to be taught people skills...I would never ever want my mother or sisters or friends to go to her for mammogram. This needs addressed and stopped. I will pursue further by even talking to media if I must or go to Geisinger Corporate office to address. Today after my mammogram I walked back to Michelle the office manager at Silver Creek and told her how I felt and I was crying and felt embarrassed and humiliated. Kimbra the tech had no smile no helping me but was abrupt the entire exam...ugh!

Geisinger Health System billing department heather

I called to pay my bill and see if there was any other bill to pay for my son. Heather would not tell me if there was any other bill and told me I am not listed as a responsible person on his account. She did confirm for security that i knew the address and name and birthdate and account and bill #. I am his dad and it is my insurance he is listed under and I am paying for. Hellther offered no relief or understanding or way to resolve this. She was cold and heartless with no people skills. Keep in mind i was calling to pay Geisinger money... So there are in paid bills because of Heather. Reisinger please take action on your employees who give your customers a terrible experience or have sub par skills or don't care about their job.

Geisinger Health System checking in for appointment

On September 8 I was checking in for routine blood work. I gave the clerk my current insurance card and answered all of her questions. I thought at that time she had entered the correct information. I was even informative to her regarding my insurance card that it was still Blue Cross/Blue Shield but had changed to Independence Blue Cross / Blue Shield. It was not bcnepa.
Monday September 18 I received a bill for the full amount ($571.00). There was nothing on the bill where anything had been turned in on the insurance. I called Billing and got that straightened out. The point I am trying to make is if the clerk had done her job sufficiently I wouldn't have had to get frustrated and call myself to get it straightened out.

The second occurrence was today September 20, 2017. I arrived at Geisinger Lycoming at 3:40 to check in for my appointment at 3:50. I waited a bit because I thought being the end of the day that things were running behind. When it got to be 35 minutes passed my appointment and I saw persons leaving that had arrived after me I was beginning to wonder why. I went to the desk and the lady that had "checked" me in wasn't there so the other person tried to help me. Apparently the other person didn't check me in correctly, now here I was; irritated, frustrated and literally just quite po'd! My choices were I could wait another half hour and see the person I was supposed to see an hour earlier, see another PA-C; or reschedule. Well my time is valuable also. I chose to see another PA-C. The one I was supposed to see would have been my very first appointment with him because I had never seen him before. The one I did see I will probably never see him again either because he was helping out this particular Geisinger by seeing patients today. So my point to this is, had I been taken care of correctly once again I wouldn't have had to become angry and frustrated.

I have been a patient of this particular branch of Geisinger for almost 40 years. I was going to it when it just had Dr. Herr and Dr. Miller as the only two doctors there. Never in my life have I ever had issues like this in all the time I have been going there.

Please train your people better. We as patients out here are not just another number.

Geisinger Health System nurses aid.

Hello I am worries about a nurses aid that I have been in contact with that works for the geisinger hospital in scranton. She is a avid drinker and I have saw her personally drive off to go to work with a bottle of liquor in her possession. She also has become quite violent with me because of her drinking problem and has bottles upon bottles of luquor strewn around the house. And I am worries because I feel she would be drinking. On the job. While working with patients you need to be on high alert. And you need to be focused. She dosnt go anywhere without a bottle of liquor. I am worried about the patients she works with. She's seems to be a substance abuser. I would like to remain anonymous. Her name is Teresa bubior.

Geisinger Health System abrupt stop of medications without weaning off

I was seeing Dr. Jacobs for over 4 years and I was on numerous medications for 2 herniated disks in my neck. I was very pleased with Dr. Jacobs and loved his approach and care. I was on 15 mg oxycodone for severe pain. At the end of 2016 I was informed that Dr. Jacobs was leaving Geisinger and I would be reassigned with Dr. Mazza. On my second month with Dr. Mazza I had an incident and lost my medication two weeks short of refill. After a week without medicine I was hurting and called and explained my situation to see if i could get help. Dr. Mazza obliged but requested a drug test. Obviously since i told him i haven't been taken my meds my drug test would come in clean which was a reason for Dr. Mazza to kick me out of the program and off my medicine. I believe this was done intentionally and cruelly especially since I’ve tried to reason with Dr. Mazza and explained to him that at the level of medication I’m on, that was established with Dr. Jacobs and Geisinger last 4 years, I cannot go to any other physician and ask them to put me on same meds to continue treatment. I’m currently in a lot of pain and still suffering with opiate withdrawal with nowhere to go. Geisinger didn't care and threw me out. I'm asking Geisinger to look over my situation and reconsider.

Your bill pay web site is a total mess, they only give you one option to pay your bills and that is auto pay on the day you choose. For years I was paying my Bill's faithfully via phone or check but now I always have a mess to deal with monthly. Currently my card expired in February, I couldn't enter my new card although the site said update your payment options and enter your new information I the site wouldn't let me. I called Customer service and gave them the info so they entered it and said I was good to go only to to get a message from my bank telling me they tried to debit my account using my expired card. I went I the site and two cards are on it and it tells me to delete one but still wont let me. Waste of time for me and too aggravating to deal with on a monthly basis. The useless staff that work there every add new bill payments I make mailed in with the bottom portion of my bill always gets applied to my financial plan.

I know this is useless and I'm tired of Geisinger even though I've been with them since 1996. Since 2017 there service all around has been useless and they don't even deserve the money they charge you for any service they provide. It's sad that such a great medical facility went to crap. If this was anything like services provided by contractors or even automotive you would have the right to pay for what you get. No wonder medical insurance is so high when your billed separately for one visit. I don't pay my mechanic for putting my car in the garage for service so I shouldn't have to pay for walking into a Geisinger facility. I'm done because I could go on forever about how bad they are these days.

Geisinger Health System pa timothy swift

Very irresponsible. Puts patients on serious meds and took them away without weening the patient off. Came out to the waiting room area and yelled at us for no reason in front of everyone. I believe he may have some anger issues. He does not care for his patients (most PA's don't and are horrible that I have encountered) someone NEEDS to reevaluate this man. He is no help in the medical field. He can't even return patient calls when he is suppose to. He is a disgrace to the medical field! I will report him every where I can until something is done!

Geisinger Health System billing department

I was in a bad car accident in '04, and spent 3 years of my life in and out of the hospital and physical rehab. I was in a large amount of medical debt, but finally got it under control around '06. Fast forward to 2012. I finally finished school, got a great job, and finally am up and on my feet. I get a letter in the mail not 2 weeks after graduating that Geisinger has a case against me from 2007 for unpaid bills that amount to $7000.00. I had 1 month to contact them and work something out or they would put a lien against me. I spent 3 and a half weeks attempting to contact their billing department, being passed around to diffferent personeel, and when I finally got aholf of someone to send me the bills in question they were incredibly rude. I got the bill in the mail, but on the bill they had sent me my insurance covered all but $500.00. I find it odd that they say they have had a case against me since '07 yet never once did I hear from them. My address did not change, and my family doctor is a Geisinger Clinic so my check-ups have to be in their system. Why wait so long if I do owe them money? And why charge me the full amount when the amount I supposably owe is only 500. Since then I have tried to contact them to get to the bottom of it, and yet again fail to get any answers. It is past the date I had to respond, and I even tried calling the collection agency lawyers to figure out what is happening. Geisinger Medical is one of the most poorly run, shady, downright despicable corporations in PA today. I was 18 at the time of my accident and am constantly hounded by them for things I already paid, they just forget to take out of their system. The amount of stress and emotional pain these people cause is not equal to the treatment they provide. I know nothing will ever be done because they have a stranglehold on North-Central PA, just venting. So be careful and KEEP EVERY SINGLE RECORD from these con-artists
