Discrimination based on disability with Rebecca Costa
I received communication that Geisinger has "closed" my grievance. Sadly, the Geisinger team provided such poor feedback, I an uncertain which of my many grievances you believe you have closed. Where you belive you have closed the matter, I hereby submit a revised complaint, with further details: The brain damage I suffer from Pregablin misuse (e.g...

Went for an appointment was supposed to be an EKG for upcoming surgery. Was told no and NO ONE can do it because it is through Lehigh Valley Health Care and I need to make a new appointment to have the EKG. Before they will do it. I was there for that reason! They said they were only going to ‘check the loop recorder’ but they didn’t even do that! Then...

I was at the Bloomsburg Geisinger Hospital on December 18, 2023 from 10 pm to almost 2 am. The female doctor that I saw for my left foot was very rough with my foot as well as constantly calling me a liar and she said that I was just putting it on. My foot was draining from a recent surgery I had and she said that it wasn't drainage when it was. She was very ignorant towards me as well. And on my papers she said that the reason for visiting was an infection but then she said that the blood tests came back negative for infection.

SUSAN OROLOGIO 4/11/50:
CVS sent multiple requests to change Xarelto and Jardiance from 30 days to 90 days with no response. Called yesterday morning and left message to call and no response as usual.
You can't get a human on the phone there. Every time i have an issue , I have to fax them or complain like this. I didn't have this problem until they became part of Geisenger.

Cannot get OB-GYN appointment!
My wife has been waiting 3 YEARS for her GYN appointment.
One has been scheduled twice and canceled by Geisinger both times; no explanation given.
We ran into a nurse we know who also works OBGYN and were told "It's not just you. They are overrun with illegal immigrants coming here from Texas to get free baby deliveries, and the Board has decided existing PAYING customers can wait while they give away free deliveries. Geisinger gave away almost a BILLION $ last year. In fact they may have to shut the OBGYN department if losses continue as it is unsustainable.
THIS IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR. Us Geisinger Gold patients wait while uninsured go first? I am calling my lawyer and see if this ais a breach of contract!
Claimed loss: 3 YEARS of her not being seen or checked. If something happens meantime it's going to get REAL ugly for Geisinger.
Desired outcome: Geisinger Gold stops being "Geisinger Crap" and goes bck to a gold standard. Seriously, this is PC Bull$#|^
Getting an appointment
I was sick for two weeks and couldn’t get in to see any doctor at mt pleasant office in Scranton not with anyone
I’ve been a patient for many years it’s rediculous you call the office number [protected] and get transferred to a central calling number and they don’t care about you
I ended up getting pneumonia because I couldn’t get in to see my doctor in a timely manner
Desired outcome: Need more appointments available for sick patients and have calling center actually care about your health
Lack of communication upon surgeries to be given
Was scheduled to have Mos surgery on Thursday, September 14th with a Dr. Ellison and also cosmetic surgery with a Dr. Eisler. The lack of communication between the 2 Dr's., was alot to be desired. I was to be at my appt. for the first doctor at one time early in the morning and the 2nd Dr's appt was to follow that time or so I was left to believe. I...
Read full review of Geisinger Health SystemMedical practitioner refuses to take asthmatic patient with covid seriously. Patient got worse and now has to go to er.
My husband and I had contracted COVID during our vacation, where I was brought to the ER of a hospital not related to Geisinger. There I had to wait seven hours, but I was eventually treated and diagnosed. They had run several tests and asked me for my medical history for analysis. I told them I was asthmatic, which is very relevant to suspicions of COVID. The analysis revealed double infections, COVID and laringitis, but the doctor prescribed me antivirals and antibiotics to combat them all. I was also prescribed medication that helps alleviate the painful symptoms. The very next day the infection spread to my eyes, giving me pink eye, but the prescribed medication already dealt with antibiotics.
I wish I could say my husband was given even an inch of the attention when he called Geisinger. He got a video appointment for the same day. He was looking better than me, but looking better than someone with three infections ain't saying much. He still looked bad. I expected that whoever would be the video call doctor would take him seriously as he is also a patient with asthma. Without treatment, he ran the risk if things getting more complicated fast.
On the 25th of July, around 4:40 PM, my husband called the Geisinger Health System because he started to feel worse and worried about ending up like me. He got himself a video appointment with a doctor from the Geisinger system.
The doctor looked at him over through the video, and dismissively said that his symptoms were only mild. That antivirals are meant only for people 65 years or older. He's in his 40s. She didn't even bother asking him if he has any respiratory conditions like asthma. And without even prescribing anything to alleviate his "mild symptoms", without asking him to go to the hospital for tests, like chest x-rays and the like, she ends the appointment telling him pretty much to just tough it out.
The message we got from her was that he should be able to get over it with just OTC drugs. Well, the asthmatic 40-year-old's "mild symptoms" got worse. It's July 31st, he calls again, and this time, after a series of questions, he was told he likely has pneumonia and needs to go to the ER.
If Geisinger Health Practitioners had taken their patient seriously in the first place, this could have been prevented. But instead of having him go over to the doctor's office or a hospital to run tests and analysis to figure out the best way to treat him, they told him to just tough it out, risking his life. They would rather have an asthmatic patient develop pneumonia than to treat them to avoid further complications like this one.
You can't just Robitussin your way out of COVID if you're an asthmatic patient. You'd think any medical doctor would know that. And now because of their their insensitivity, and negligence, my asthmatic husband with COVID also has pneumonia and needs to go to the ER.
Desired outcome: Geisinger should cover my husband's medical expenses involved in his COVID infection.
Mri and scheduling
On 7/27/2023 scheduled for mri originally at 730 am they had it scheduled as or instead of mri due to anesthesia...they geisinger rescheduled me to 10 am but did not change on my geisinger..it is now 1145 been sitting since 920 no update or information from any staff at all no answers, patient informed sucks there is none just let you sit here...worse now that kaiser permanente bought them out.. .
Desired outcome: Fix the problem retrain appointment schedulers ensure they update their appt changes...on their end and patients my geisinger and offer mri services closer to home instead of convince of the hospital system

Poor service
May 10, 2023,
Geisinger
I have been a customer of the Geisinger 65 insurance plan since it has started. So far up to May 5, 2023 I loved the plan, but I guess things are made to break one way or another. On May 1, 2023 at 11:45 pm I had a stroke, my wife called an ambulance and I was taken to CMC, a Geisinger hospital and arrived at 11:45 pm that night. I laid on the ambulance gurney until I had some one on the hospital staff take care of me, which seemed to be a long time. I was then taken to Emergency Room 24 and while I was in that room the hospital staff did a lot of testing on me. I stayed in the Emergency Room 24 until May 2, 2023 until 5:40 pm until I was put in a room on the 4th floor of the hospital. I stayed in that room until Thursday May 4, 2023 and per Dr Jones I was released to go home with the instructions from the Dr to get an appointment with a Neurologist as soon as I can. The Dr. said get this appointment within 30 days, very important. When I was in my car, with my wife driving, I received a call from Dr Tomczak’s office asking how I was doing and getting me an appointment ASAP. We made the appointment for the next Tuesday, May 9, 2023. The first thing that came into my head was how wonderful that Dr Tomczak’s office was to call me so quickly. Friday 5/05/2023 I placed a call to Dr Jones office and to make a long story short he isn’t taking any new patients so I then called Dr Ming, who is a Dr at CMC, they said they would call me back, which they didn’t. So now I have this whole weekend go by and I am getting a bit anxious with no Neurology appointment. So with no return call from Dr Ming’s office I decided it was time to call the Geisinger phone number. I called the Geisinger number and l got a girl on the phone and I told her the whole story about me having a stroke the previous Monday and I need an appointment with a Neurologist, her reply to me was that I could get an appointment Sept 1, 2023 in Danville Pa. I said WHAT I need one now, with in 30 days, and I’m calling from Scranton, her reply was that’s the best I can do. On Monday 5/8/23 my wife called Dr Ming’s office again and still didn’t get a return call. With all of this going on I decided to call Penn Med in Philadelphia to get an appointment with a Neurologist, and their reply was we have 2 openings on Tuesday 5/09/23 or Friday 5/12/23 at 8:30 am. So I will be in Philadelphia Penn Medicine on Friday 5/12/23 to see a Neurologist. Quite a distance to see a Neurologist but when the Corporation Of Geisinger cannot handle a person in need I think it might be a good time to look around and seek another Insurance company that really handles people in what they need.

Desired outcome: Try getting it together.
Geisinger has TOO MANY PATIENTS and not enough doctors but hey, they just keep expanding! I have severe allergies and have to wait months to get an appointment. What a crock! With the allergy season this bad they need to get their act together and seriously worry about the patients instead of the almighty dollar! Yet they have the gall to try to get me to use them for my retirement. I'll get right on that. And it takes months and months to get ANY appointment due again, because they don't have enough doctors for their expansion projects!
Primary doctor Tommy Pham
Today 5/5/2023 I went to Urgent Care at Geisinger 25 Church Street, Wilkes-barre Pennsylvania, because my heart was hurting me. I had told my primary doctor at 166 Hanover Street, Wilkes-barre PA. Dr Tommy Pham that my chest is very tight on March 9, 2023. He said lets do some blood work, I said okay, I also told him that I could not go to therapy because my presure was high at Cawley Therapist at the YMCA in Wilkes-barre Pennsylvania, I needed a doctor's note for me to return put he did not give me one, he said workout in your house. I return on 3/31/2023 I was told your blood work came back and your cholesterol is a little high but don't need meds. He told me he will not be there, he is on maternity leave. That I will see his boss when I return to monitor my high blood pressure. On 4/28/2023 I saw Dr William Robert, my blood pressure meds was increased and given water pills. Still did not give me cholesterol meds. Told him I need a doctors note to go to therapy, he said go to the gym. How can I go to the gym if I can't go to therapy. When I go to checkout, the receptionist told me oh you will not see Dr Pham anymore he is graduating, a new trainer will take his place. Today I was told at Urgent Care I have some diseases COPD, my arteries are clogged and something wrong with my kidneys. I saw Tequilla Tavockious Manning MD she said its all in the blood work. Why are you not on cholesterol meds, I said I dont know, I told her, I did NOT know none of this. She did not understand and nether did i. She this is way you feel your chest thight. She prescribed to pumps for me to be able to breath. This is my complaint, the doctors at Geisinger 166 Hanover are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and doctor Pham is graduating, this is a big joke. I could die because of my diseases. They just saw me as a dollar sign. This is very sad so after I left Urgent Care I went to 166 Hanover to speak to a supervisor of the doctors. The receptionist toke me to the back. The supervisor told me that I did NOT have to come here to fine a private doctor. The supervisor is down with the UNPROFESSIONAL. This was AMAZING. When I was leaving the receptionist told me she got in trouble for taking me to the back. I apologize to her. She said its okay, I'm leaving in 3 days. She can't not take the NON PROFESSIONALISM. I still felt bad a depressed. I am a disable person, I have been struck my a truck in 2003. This is what I get for trying to trust my doctor, never again. Thank you
Desired outcome: Still no meds for my COPD, CHOLESTEROL, CLOGGED ARTERIES OR KIDNEYS
Geisinger Pediatrics on Hanover Street
I brought my sick son to see the Dr to have a respiratory panel done on him and ended up waiting in the room for an HOUR and NEVER seeing the provider! One of the nurses came in and asked me to wait even longer while my son is laying there sick and miserable begging to just go home. This is just unacceptable! They expect patients to be on time but force us to wait on them at THEIR convenience.
Ophthalmology
1-31 2023 My husband had an appointment at 11.00 for eye sugery. we had to be there at 10:00. As of 11:30 we asked if there was a problem. First the said he was schedule at 3: pm for this procedure then proceeded to tell us that we were called the day before, We checked our phones, there were no phone calls on his cell or at our home, furthermore, when I questioned "you did they talk to" they said they did not document who they talked. Are you serious! You should be ashamed .They never called. This is just a way of trying cover up their own mistake. I would be ashamed as a professional to not document this information. How do the know who they talked to if they did call? Obviously they didn't. This took place in the Ophthalmology department at GMC Danville. My name is Cindy Krebs, I am writing this on behalf of my husband
Desired outcome: Make the correct documentation. Show me it. Don't make someone be there from 9:00 am until after surgery they scheduled at 3:15 then recovery. That is an unnecessary long day.
Bathroom Accessability
I was rercently an in patient at GSWB on Church Street. My complain is regarding bathrooms and I feel it is an issue of handicapp access. I am older, and at this point in my life I do not have the flexibility to wipe myself after a bowel movement. I believe that Geisinger and other facilities that serve the handicapped should ensure access to bathrooms with bidets so that they have access to a method/equipment that would help them clean themselves after a bowel movement. PLEASE GEISINGER CONSIDER THIS REQUEST ON BEHALF OF YOUR OLDER POPULATION AND THOSE WITH PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS WHO HAVE DIFFICULTY IN CLEANING THEMSELVES.
Desired outcome: Installation of Bidets on every floor, and patient rooms.
Dr. Scott's termination of me seeing my primary care physician Dr. C. Stroka DO
It started on April 18 of 2022. Dr. Roger Scott called me on the phone and told me I couldn't see Dr. Stroka anymore because of inappropriate behavior. I was shocked and out of my mind, and he provided no evidence of inappropriate behavior. I tried to call him numerous times but he didn't answer. My last visit with Dr. Stroka was a video visit on March 29 2022. I told her I was very depressed but not suicidal. I sent a message to her after the visit that suicidal thoughts could happen any time. Dr. Oleski my psychologist at the time, called me on April 1 2022 but I didn't call her back because we had an upcoming appt. on April 11, And I thought it was about the message I sent to Dr. Stroka about my depression. Dr. Oleski and I had our appt. on Apr. 11, one week before I was terminated and she didn't give me a hint that I was going to be terminated. She sent me a letter on Apr. 25 saying I could have one last visit with her but that I showed aggressive nature to staff. As far as I could remember I was never aggressive to nurses or staff in person or on phone. I received a forged letter on Apr. 25 from Dr. Stroka stating that she couldn't see me because of my inappropriate behavior. It was signed C. Stroka hn. Dr. Stroka wouldn't have signed it that way. Dr. Stroka told my wife at an appt. on Jun. 13 to apologize to me for what happened. She didn't know I was terminated till after it happened. My Wife could still had Dr. Stroka as her pcp. Since I was terminated she found a new pcp. I tried many times to talk to Dr. Scott, who must be a manager at Mt. Pleasant. I waited on the phone one hour one time. I have never spoken to him since April 18. I want to know why I was terminated. I put in a complaint with Ethics Point. The patient liason told them Dr. Stroka sent me a letter that she couldn't see me anymore and that was it, no furter investigation. I asked Dr. Oleski if she would ask Dr. Stroka to call me, but I don't think she ever did. I want some answers to why I was terminated. Me and my wife feel worse and worse everyday with different ailments I miss seeing her She was the best doctor ever. Dr. Scott's phone mumber is [protected]. Dr. Stroka is [protected]. Dr. Oleski is [protected]. I can still send messages to Dr. Stroka but the nurses and staff won't let them go through to her. I'm worried Dr. Stroka to get into trouble because of this inquiry. It needs to be done for my sanity. I don't want to see doctors any more. I have an oncology appt. next Mon. to follow up on Lymphoma cancer I had. I've been clean for 2 years. Hopefully I can force myself to go. I have an appt. with the heart doctor March 17. My name is Bob Davis (phone [protected]). I would greatly appreciate your help. My email is [protected]@comcast.net. Thanks for anything you can do. Bob
Desired outcome: To have Dr. Stroka return as my Primary Care Physician.
service/wait time 1/13/2023
My mother 73 years old wasn't feeling well. She phoned Geisinger yesterday. A Dr. Allie phoned her last night saying her blood pressure was low. When actually it was too high. She left notes in her chart and they reached out this morning giving her a same day appt. for 11:20 w/ Dr. Tunis who is her family Dr. in Pittson. Every 30 minutes I asked how long they though she would be and they assured me we were next but that Dr. Tunis is always behind. Well 1:00 came and my mother was ready to go. Very irritated because she had fast assuming she'd be asked to do blood work. As we were leaving the nurse apologized and said again Dr. Tunis is always behind I let her know that it is unacceptable and unfair to make people wait that long. Especially sick people. 30 minutes in acceptable but an hour and forty mins. plus is NOT. I will be looking for a new Dr for my mother, my husband and daughter. I personally was smart enough to leave Geisinger years ago.
Desired outcome: She would like an apology
I would also like to add that they put in her chart that she left without being seen without indicating how long she waited!
Billing
My Husband was seen for a routine visit. His primary doctor is Dr. Clark. He was supposed to be seen by her, but she was not available, so he was seen by Shayna Hunsinger CRNP NPI [protected]. Blood work was ordered as usual, blood was taken, and the ordered tests were run. To his knowledge all of this was the same as every annual visit. He usually pays his copay, and then does not receive any further bills. This year, he got a bill from Geisinger of $235.00. The charge is listed as "Geisinger Medical Group 12/05/22 Pathology Panel Test 80048" The remarks are "U5006" which states "The patient's coverage does not provide for diagnostic services for routine conditions, or for screening services for non-routine conditions. Therefore, no payment can be made. If your provider submitted this claim, they will receive a separate notification with this information." First, he called Geisinger asking what had been done different this time. He was told that it looked like it was submitted under different codes and she said she was referring it back to the coding department. He then called our insurance Highmark, to ask why they were not paying and he was told the same thing; the codes were not the same as previous years when he was billed. He waited to hear back from Geisinger; he eventually spoke to a different person and was told the billing department stated it was coded correctly. He continued to question why he was getting a bill when nothing different was done. The person then looked into the visit further and noted that instead of being seen by a usual assistant of Dr. Clark's, he was seen by Shayna Hunsinger who usually works with a different doctor. Apparently, Shayna Hunsinger is not credentialed under Highmark, and therefore Highmark would not pay for her services. The person to whom he was speaking then recommended he call Dr. Clark and have her resubmit the bill under her name. He messaged Dr. Clark via MYCHART and had conversation about this. The result was that she legally cannot submit a visit she did not do. My husband had no way of knowing he was being seen by a medical professional that would not be covered by his insurance. Therefore, I think Geisinger is responsible for the error and my husband should not be responsible for payment.
Desired outcome: My husband's bill balance should be $0.00 - he shouldn't be billed for the visit.
Form for short term disability
So first off I’m 34 wks pregnant with a 5yr old son and a 1 year old daughter. I went in to my gynecologist today to have a form filled out to receive my short term disability from my old Job who had fired me the day I ask for the documentation to file for maturity leave. This Dr. wrote on bottom of form a unwarranted information stating I am still able to work and that I’m having no complications? I currently have a huge blood clot inside of my placenta which could abrupt, which is the reason I was placed as a High Risk Pregnancy. Instead of her answering the questions asked to her on the form the insurance company sent out to approve income for me and my children until I’m able to find a new job. Now because of her negligence me and my children might be out of our home and homeless because she ruined the last chance of me receiving income for my family.
Desired outcome: A response, an apology for negligence and a new form filled out to be sent in with only the questions asked to be answered
