scammed
All I can say is I'm both sorry and elated to find individuals like myself that were scammed for travel services by Global Discovery Vacations. This company is a total consumer ripoff. How dare anyone of this company, at whatever satellite office they have moved into this month, even try to defend what this company is selling. All of your stories on-line sound so familiar to what has happened to my husband and I. This company couldn't be more of a joke.
They start by calling you on the phone stating you have a free trip (usually 2 nights, 3days) with a choice of 5 or 6 places to go for attending a 90 min presentation for travel services. After you agree to the 90 min presentation you drive to whatever office they have set up for that time period. I have noticed that all of them have short life spans. After you hear what great discounts they have (and I'm the first to admit how embarrassed I am for buying in) they negotiate a lifetime able to be passed on for generations "vacation club." The membership fees all started out in the $15K range in my presentation.
Here's the scam. They have a couple of people working out of a real office somewhere. Then for as long as it takes to sign up all the suckers like me they have several "temp" sales offices. These are where they give sales presentations. Once the consumer buys in they have 3 days to break the contract. The travel services department (if you want to call it that) is only open Mon-Fri. The presentations are given on a Friday or Saturday by the time you call on Monday and by the time you get a response you can no longer void the contract. Once your stuck they rely on your frustration to take over. Most people only get two-three weeks of vacation a year with a couple of long weekends. This equates to only being able to go on 4-5 trips or so a year, if your lucky.
You can't see where you "might" be able to travel, you have to submit more money to this joke of a company for the chance at a vacation resort. GDV needs an attorney with some time to put them out of business once and for all. I was lied to about all inclusive vacations being a part of my membership, which is not so (regardless of the 4 stars I won't use this year). I can get "discounted" trips thru an affiliated travel agent, which it didn't take me long to figure out that the discounts they give aren't really discounts at all. It's just a few people looking up what you can do yourself in about 5 minutes on the web (minus the comission rate for providing this "exceptional" service to you, you will find the web prices about 20% cheaper). This goes against everything they told me in the presentation of buying airline tickets in bulk and buying blocks of rooms each year for members. YADA YADA
These employees have to know what GDV is doing. Anytime I have called trying to get information about the company I am either forwarded to voice mail or given to 'Tamara' if that's her real name the supervisor on duty and the highest power of lack of caring the company can offer.
I would be more than happy to be a part of a class action lawsuit against GDV (GLOBAL DISCOVERY VACATIONS) if anybody is interested. I will be keeping a close eye out on new reports. This is not an isolated incident. There are many other travel companies scamming people out of their hard earned cash.

scam alert
This company is the worst vacation club I have ever worked with. I tried to use a star week and emailed and faxed the request in October. I tried to contact again several times because I wanted to vacation in May. The company finally called back after we spoke to the manager and then I got a call saying there was no availablity about a week before my specified date! So on top of paying the monthly fee I had to shell out 1300.00 for a vacation rental that year. Now I'm being sued because I refuse to pay for a service that I didn't get. Not even an apology or some kind of compromise. I WILL not recommend this company and further more am going to court because of the harrassing calls I get at work and home.

My problem with Global is you have to book 13 months in advance in order to get what you want. you can't even book eight months out because you won't get what you want. We like beach front when we go and they don't offer that many. Very limited like I said unless you book way a head of time. They need to increase what they offer.
I must say that we have been pretty happy with Global so far ( 3 years ) having gone on several vacations, and our children have gone on a few. I have no negative comments, the office is still operating and I get returned calls to my inquiries. I would sign up again knowing what I know now. There are two sides to every story. As long as you give the notice of 60 days off-peak and 120-peak, you get what you want! Do not call two weeks before the vacations and think you are going to get something! You guys, YOU PAY $159 FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK! GIVE THE NOTICE! That is not a bad catch for the money!
Hi,
My name is Jason Rzucidlo and I am the Owner & Web Designer of AmericaJR.com. I received lots of complaints about the Global Vacation Network so I decided to do some investigating. I encourage you read and comment on these articles before attending a GVN sales presentation:
http://americajr.com/news/globalvacationnetwork0314.html (You can also view all of the documents you will be required to sign in a PDF file)

Many of the GVN offices will show you a phony BBB rating that is not their true rating. Always check BBB ratings at www.bbb.org.
Secondly, GVN is offering huge prizes like Lincoln Navigators that are impossible to win. They are only giving away 1 and your chances to win it are 1 in a million. So if they told you that you won one, you probably didn't.
Good luck in your travels.
Jason

Hello,
I too was ripped off by this aweful lying/scamming "company". Please let me know if you ever are able to cancel your contract, or if there is a class action lawsuit against them coming up...I would LOVE to join in on this! I NEED my money back, I REFUSE to continue to pay and be ripped off...and I'd like to help others avoid this scam in the process! Please email me at rf620@hotmail.com soon! Thank you!
I am also being harrassed for payment from Global Discovery Vacations. I can no longer afford to pay for something that is a luxury, and have repeatedly told them to PLEASE cancel my contract. They refuse and threaten.
My one vacation to Hawaii was less than luxurious. The accommodations were old and outdated, which I'm finding out that most of the GDV properties are.
PLEASE, if anyone has information on a lawsuit against this company let me know.

We also have had very poor service with Global. The travel agency is not helpful at all and the accomodations for our first trip were wholly disappointing. After dealing with them for almost a year, we have decided they are just a scam. Huge waste of money on our part and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
buyers beware
My husband & I were suckered in by these folks. They asked what kind of trips we liked to take & we said hiking. Well, once we started looking at the offerings, we were disappointed to see no possibilities. We also checked out the places to stay here in Daytona Beach as a measure of the quality of what GDV offers. There is NO Way we would stay in the place...

We have been with Global since 2010 and we have been able to go MANY places we would never have thought of going. We have been happy for the most part with Global. They try to make things happen as closely as they can and the concept they present is very appealing to my husband and I. We can travel to destinations that would cost us an exceedingly greater amount of money if we did it through any other company. We have had to step out and go through VRBO and AIRBNB on several occasions due to lack of availability in that area and it has cost us a great deal more money to go this route. I know they are trying to broaden their inventory of locations and I hate to hear of the negative experiences that people are having. No vacation "concepts" are perfect but I feel like Global has the right idea with "if you don't use it, you don't pay for it." I don''t think this is a scam at all! I do believe some of the destinations are a bit outdated and I feel like they take our suggestions to heart when we voice them. Do they have room for improvement...yes! But we are so happy to be able to utilize this resource for travel on a budget!
My husband and I would like to be apart of this class action lawsuit. It’s nothing but lie after lie. They was suppose to have the owner get ahold of me in July and it’s now September 1, 2022. My email jujupresley5@aol.com
I have also been scammed by Global Discovery Vacations.
I have never succeeded in taking a single trip. At one point I thought I was on the verge of getting refunded but the manager I was working with suddenly stopped calling or responding. A few years earlier I was offered a refund but I was talked out of it as the rep kept talking about all the improvements to the program.
I also never received anything in the mail from them - so I couldn't figure out how to contact them, and I was never informed about changes to the program.
The office at which I originally purchased was in Grand Rapids MI. I'll have to look up the year.
I want my money back. I never got anything promised to me.
In my case about $6,500 got scammed from me.
Please send me information about being a part of the class action suit. This company is a complete fraud.
We want to be part of the class action Lawsuit
Can you get in touch with me e-mail address is renee_maestas_123@msn.com
I’d join it
I will be suing them if they do not refund me every dime I have paid them.
We have been members since 2013 and have used the heck out of this membership but, BUT, I noticed the last few years that the inventory was not the same when we initially joined. We just returned from a week in Hawaii which only became available 3 weeks out. Yesterday my wife received a text message from one of the sales members whom is listed as a Regional Director offering us the ability to purchase 2 more stars and move us to the updated platform which has more properties. After listening and asking very detailed questions we decided to move forward. After we were able to view the properties (which is a ton of international) I looked at properties we had stayed in before and noticed that they now require 3 stars where on the old membership it only required 1. Additionally the cost to book the vacation weeks and expressways both increased $200 per booking. I was irate and contacted the agent immediately and told him that he had deceived us by not allowing us to have line of sight on what was available and the
Star (pricing) structure. He has committed to cancelling our upgrade and returning us back to our original membership. We'll see if he's honest and actually does this. Above and beyond the fact that they charged us $2300 to upgrade and basically lose out on the better deals, they have removed the inventory that we use to have on our membership. He told me that they can't offer properties that cost more than what our membership allows. This is the totally shady part as none of that is mentioned in any sales pitch or in your contract. We are fortunate to have been able to use this membership so much but for them to remove the inventory and push it to the people whom paid more is unethical. We will continue to use what we have but I highly recommend not upgrading if you are an older member because you'll pay more for less.
I have the same problem as you , been a member for a long time used my plan a lot but now when I do get a place it is not up to standard , or I can’t get what I ask for even putting in a year ahead , I am older and We was looking forward to using this a lot after retirement, I would not recommend this to anyone I knots after what they been doing
I have had all of the exact same experiences. I have never been able to take any vacations with this service. On top of that, I was told the purchase through their financing would not impact my credit report. It has so if there is a class action lawsuit I would be thrilled to become a part if it.
Global Discovery vacation is a scam. We sat through the sales pitch and like every other sucker in there we signed up. We paid our money then every month for years they took out $125. Everytime we tried to use the service they never had anything. We tried to find a place for the 2019 Comic-Con in San Diego they had nothing, I don’t mean all of their rooms were full they had nothin other then a place over 3 hours away. We tried to find a place in Pennsylvania and they had nothing. We get better prices calling hotels on our own.
Bonnie calls every month trying to collect (we stopped paying them) she says there is no way to get out of the contract and if I don’t pay she is going to turn me over to the collection company and wreck my credit. Today she said if I gave her a grand she would let me out of the contract. I hate this company so much. I’m down a class action lawsuit by the way.
Weird yet things were resolved to the complainants satisfaction. We have only been happy with gdv. We did a week long trip to the beach in California using sky miles and bus from the airport. The fee was 99 dollars. So we literally had a California vacation for a week for the price of food and entertainment. We used to go to Phoenix every year for a week. We spent a week at a resort in Mexico and a week in Palm Springs.
This has always been a good deal for us. We initially paid about 6000 dollars and I'm sure we got that back. We happily upgraded a few years later but that is because we enjoy it and it's been a good value for us.
I know at the sales events there was more than enough chance to see the destinations. They would sit down and bring them up with you. These are our experiences. I can't say what anyone else has.
Hope that is helpful.
Mike
