The fee to add $ prepaid account
They are charging 30 to 40% of the monies deposited to prepaid account. $.99 fee before was 10% not acceptable but a lot better than $4.00 for a $10.00 deposit, that is 40% of the 10.00 and is not a reasonable fee, its hard enough trying to have money for prepaid phone but to be gauged is crazy. I do not understand why you want to be so greedy. 7/18/2022
Desired outcome: $.99 cents to be charged to add money to prepaid account up to $25.00 then in increments of .99 cents for each $25 increase, so a $100 would cost $4.00 fee.

My husband is incarcerated and wanted to know why the tablets are not updated to next season shows and game content needs to be better. If a prison doesn’t pass tablets out for the day is that a breach of contract? There is no real reason because they dropped the ball for something they did no fault of the inmates. Inmates are requesting BBC News back. Other camps other than Maury Correctional, have Peacok BET App? How come there is no access to video visitation why isn’t it being utilized? Can they have better movies that aren’t 30 plus with PG Movies

Took money off my husband's direct express card while in jail.
Global TEL Link removed $90 of my husband Brian Bulkley's direct express card ending in 3267 while he was in the chemung county jail from April 6 to May 13,2022. He couldn't have given them permission to remove that off his card on May 1,2022 because he was incarcerated at that time. And he had taken his direct express card with him when he was booked into the jail on the 6th of April. So he would like his $90 returned to his direct express card ending in 3267 immediately or he is gonna file charges against global TEL Link for non authorization of payment. And removing money off his account without his permission.

The phone service I pay them for is not connecting calls, going to voicemail
For 2 months I have used this service and my sons calls from jail have gone threw with no problem. Then on Mothers Day and the following 4 days the calls don't ring and it goes to voicemail where he cannot leave a message. I've called customer service a few times now and one man tried to reboot it and it didn't work, and a lady sent in a work order and said it could take up to a week. This is very frustrating.
Desired outcome: I would like it to work as soon as possible.
They want all your private info just to set up an account. Need to know the name of the facility every time which is a hassle if you don't remember. First person I talked to wouldn't even help me figure it out and hung up on me. They insisted they must have the name of the facility which made no sense to me. Second time though the manager who I asked to speak with was much nicer and was going to help me find it but I told her I already have. I also told her it was [censored] she needs to know all this info about me to set up an account. The only reason I can think of for that is if the prison wants my name for whatever reason because they suspect me of something. The prison probably has all this information which I don't agree with. Who they talk to should be none of their business. They have a right to talk to who they want and it shouldn't be that personal at all. If I wanted my name to be John Doe that should be good enough to set up an account. If I didn't know the name of the facility that shouldn't matter either.

Then It’s The Playing The Games & Being Charged Per Minute When You Have The $15 Package Why Is it Charging If The Package Is Subscribed On The Plan

On 1/12/22 Called GTL put money on my phone. Inmate, my husband finally calls me on 1/24. And the call comes in as collect call. Informed to accept press 0, I do that and the call doesn't go thru disconnects. So now husband thinks I did not accept his call. I'm in Ohio he's in CA, we're trying to work on marriage. Not a good time to finally get a call and he think I refused it.
GTL don't take people's money if call not going through. Your excuses are BS. 1st told had to register ? Then told problem with my phone when pressed 0, had no problem with 0 to get to GTL so-called customer service. And now I have to see if he'll try and call again. They asked if I want my money back. NO idiots then I really won't be able to get his call. Bottom line DON'T take money then give lame excuses of why when I put money on my phone but call won't go through.
Did you get resolved and how? I am having same problem. He calls and it won't got thru shows up missed call and voicemail notification no ringing or nothing. The number is not blocked no scam call blocker I've called tmobile and gtl several times with no results, even went and bought a new phone and still happens. Please let me know this is ridiculous!

I have a prepaid account for my husband to be able to call me. Ever since I started receiving the calls, they have been dropping, and also overcharged. I recently saw online other customers who were also overcharged and refunded. I've called numerous times asking about the fees and they never add up. I would like for someone to reach back out to me for some sort of resolution.

GTL’s inspire Tablet
After being released from a prison in Pennsylvania, I contacted GTL, which isn't easy going through their maze of options, only to get dumped on a subsidiary company Getting Out. After speaking with their customer service rep, I'm told to provide my contact information and that I would receive an email with instructions to have my tablet shipped to GTL so that they could unlock the device and return it to me. That was over 2 weeks ago. I go through the same process again, only to be dumped (once again) into the lap of Getting Out, this time they're singing a new tune, "Well Mr. Roman, you'll need to contact the facility where you purchased the tablet for information to have your table shipped to us." WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS! What does the DOC have to do at this point? It's a GTL tablet. It's GTL who needs the tablet shipped to them, in order to UNLOCK the device, then it's GTL who needs to return the tablet. I've seen this tactic before, throw as many obstacles in your way and they'll frustrate you into quitting. They got the wrong guy. I filed a complaint with the BBB, next is a lawsuit for fraudulent business practices!
Desired outcome: I want GTL to accept my Tablet, unlock the tablet and enable all functions, then return the tablet to me.
Inmate phone account
I made a payment to GTL on 7/26/2021 in the amount of $30.00. GTL debited $30.00 twice from my bank account instead of once. They credited my GTL account only $30.00 despite deducting $60.00. I contacted both GTL & my bank to attempt to resolve this issue. My bank initiated an investigation & ultimately credited the $30.00 debit back to my account on 9/24/2021.
On 9/6/2021 I made a $25.00 payment to GTL. Most of the phone calls were used between the days of 9/6/2021 & 9/13/2021, leaving a balance of a little over $2.00 on my GTL account. I get notified by the incarcerated individual with whom I communicate that the GTL account is no longer allowing him to contact me, so I call GTL to investigate. GTL tells me that my phone account is now -$27.64 & the only way to resolve this is to Western Union them the amount. So, the only way to get my account in good standing, according to GTL, is to send GTL the amount of money that they mistakenly took from my account back in July which my bank protected me from.
To sum this up really simply, GTL took $30 too much from me & when my bank credited the money back to me, GTL found another way to try to take the money from me even though the error is on their part.
I spoke to customer service at GTL on two occasions about this. The first call I basically found out that my account is frozen & how much I owe. The second call I was called a liar & was told it was my fault that a $30 payment went through twice even though the total amount was never placed in my GTL account. It is pretty clear that someone at GTL made a mistake by overcharging me back in July, & is now doubling down on their position that I was the one to blame for this "fraudulent " deposit situation.
I would also like to mention that GTL actually double dipped from my bank account on not one, but two occasions! In the first instance, they deducted $25.00 from my bank twice, even if should have only been once, & only credited my GTL account $25.00 once. This erroneous transaction was thankfully resolved by my bank without error, but not the other.
It is really horrible that while people are out here struggling through the pandemic & dealing with the stress of an incarcerated loved one, that huge companies like GTL continue to steal from people & refuse to resolve the issues in any manner let alone a professional manner. Horrible Horrible experience. And unfortunately this is who the correction facility chooses to do business with, so we are left with no other option.
Desired outcome: Credit my GTL account back $30, clearing my negative balance, & leaving the amount on the account that was supposed to be there as of 9/13/2021.
rude/poor customer service
I reached out to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin CA this morning 9/24/21 around 8 am and spoke with a GTL employee about getting a pin number for my son who is an inmate at Santa Rita. My son didn't have a pin to order commissary today since the order needs to be placed before midnight so it was urgent that he get the resources as soon as possible. The employee was helpful and mentioned that he could go down to provide the pin number to him. I wish I had his name to offer my thanks for helping us out.
After that request I spoke with my son who mentioned that he didn't even have a tablet to place the order, in fact, he didn't have anything and needed both. So I called back and ended up speaking with someone by the name of James who also works for GTL. He was rude, condescending and laughed at me before I hung up the phone. It's already a stressful situation to be in and this person, James, should be written up for such behavior. I was telling him I had just called and wanted to let them know that I spoke to my son and besides not having a pin that he didn't have a tablet either. This guy, names James, went into the process and said he would have received everything at the time of intake, which was not true. I tried to explain I was calling back to further explain the need for a tablet as well. He continued to rudely explain the process. I said I am sure my son will be helped by the other employee even though this guy (James) was not helpful. He started laughing so I had to hang up. Again these times are stressful for family members but we are treated like criminals for helping our family members. So please if you can review any calls I would suggest that you listen in to the conversation or address this with the individual that works for GTL at Santa Rita.

Scam and Ripoff
I have funded a phone account for an inmate for over 12 years now using my personal debit card. The inmate passed away on June 8, 2021 and now that I am trying to get a refund of the money that I put on the account for his use, they suddenly have an issue with the fact that I paid for the 4 phone accounts that are open on his now inactive account.
Desired outcome: Refund - well over $140.
Broken phone at dade correctional in florida in unit a-1
On numerous occassions myself and my loved one have complained to the facility and to gtl about the phone in unit a-1 in dade correctional institution in florida city/homestead florida. My loved one actually spoke to a sservice man from gtl when he was there and the man said he will take care of it, well that was a month ago and the problems have been going on since almost day one of the new phones going in. Its bad enough there are only 2 phones in the unit. Then to have 1 of those phones go down it makes for a very bad situation. Look i put at least $100 - $150 on my phone every week. I should be able to talk to my loved one with no interruptions. I don't know where all this money is going but you need to take care of your equiptment and service the customers.

I had a video visit booked today at 4.30 pm until 4.50 0m at the Bland Correctional Centre with an inmate R S Via. The visit did not go ahead due to an issue with GTL and due to no fault of my own. I request a full refund as this was something out of my control and therefore should be fully refunded. Funds on my phone account
On July 24, 2020 I put $50.00 on my phone account, however on July 27, 2020 I discovered that no funds were put on my account. I contacted GTL at [protected] and talked with a supervisor he told me that the funds were removed because I requested a refund and it would take 21 days to be credited to my card. I did not request any refund. He is lying and that is not true. At no time did I request a refund from my phone number and from my account.
I have had a phone account with GTL for over 5 years. I clearly had the impression that this was all done maliciously and with bad intentions. Over the 5 years I had several instances where very malicious things has been done. About 3 and a half years ago Global Tel Link had a Corporate phone number in Texas and they had an Investigation Dept to investigate these matters but they no longer have that. If the current investigator would like I can provide the fully tape recorded phone call I had with the supervisor at Global Tel Link.
Unethical behavior - scam
Global Tel Link is a rip off and this scam is a new low:
1) I deposited $75.00.
2) They claim someone requested a charge back from an account and just so happen to have the same first six number of my debit card and expiration date.
3) They say that I owe them $75.00; however, I did not talk with anyone to add up to $75.
4) They will not provide me with an accounting of my calls and charges.
The calls are already ridiculously, outrageous and it is the only means that we have to communicate with our love ones during this pandemic. It is my opinion that they believe me to be desperate enough that I would go to Western Union (which is the option that I was provided to remove the block) to pay another $75 cash.
I am asking that this entity be investigated and that I be refunded my money back to me account. As I stated this is my only means for communicating with my son as we only have one option and no other that I further ask that this entity not be allowed to take advantage of the consumers.
I believe all mine communications with Global Tel Link was recorded and I confirmed with Lovely that they were. These recordings should validate my claims and the recording of the person that called yesterday, July 24, 2020 should have been recorded as well.

I have wrote and told this so many time and got no where i put a 26 deposit on my Gtl accoynt it said payment not excepted and it was mt stored card that had miney i didnt understand and it is urgent ti have calls i called customer service several time3 long story short..each time a representative ran my card again it came out my account and i still have no funds they were rude. and un helpful tto someone that has used gtl for 12 yrs and spent thousands of dollars n i have spent 3 days making calls to my bank And gtl and my money will be refunded in 60 days and nit 25 dollars now 84 dollars fron a single mom of a disable child its so urgent i have calls i go have.
