What a SCAM! This GROW.COM!
I ordered a free trial offer from the Yahoo sponsored ad for a shampoo and conditioner, paid $5 shipping handling fee. Two months later, SURPRISE, I received a credit card charge for $109. Now that is in dispute.
Surprised! Another month later, I received another exact package with another invoice of $113. They called that AUTOSHIPPING. I didn’t order that and the original trial offer did not say anything about this auto-shipping stuff. If you think that’s a scam, wait until you here this:
The invoice included inside the package has an instruction for you to return and promise a full refund. The instruction asks you to login into your account, go to the Trial Orders tab, select “Cancel”, print a RMA#, and return it with your own shipping. And this is what I found:
• It says my account is no longer active for auto-shipments. And they still shipped it?
• There’s no Trial Orders tab. The closest one Trial Offers tab has no order listed in it; hence, I have no way to cancel it.
• Another tab Retuns listed my order, but gave no option of Cancel or Return to make it happen. In other words, these tabs are all fake.
• So, you have no way to print a RMA label.
So, what do you do? You seal it and return it back to the sender? They thought of that too. On the invoice, it says “We cannot process or refund packages marked Return to Sender” and it also says “The package must clearly show the RMA number. Go figure. They cut you off on both ends and you have no way to exit.
Beware of FREE samples from Glow.com
Coupon from Glow.com said FREE SAMPLES: pay only $4.95 for shipping.
When the samples came I could tell immediately that they would not work for my skin and never even opened any of the products.
About a month after receiving samples I received a box of products which I didn't order. I wrote Glow.com and told them I didn't order any products, I was not going to pay the postage to send it back, and to not send anymore.
About a month later another box of products arrived. This time I had not opened it so I decided to take it to the post office and "return to sender".
Yesterday my husband asked me, "Wasn't that company that sent you stuff you didn't order "Glow.com"? I affirmed it was. "Did you end up ordering something from them?" "I sure did not", I said. "Well, there's a withdrawal from our checking account from Glow.com for $66.45."
Further investigation found a total of 4 charges from Glow.com for $289.35.
"Customer Service" maintained that their policy is clearly laid out in the paperwork I received with the samples (which I never read because I wasn't interested in the product) and failure to cancel membership within 30 days would result in a $90.00 charge and more product. Every 60 days thereafter, product would be sent and I would be charged $66.45.
I told them MY policy was not to order products I didn't like...I didn't like theirs...and therefore I didn't order theirs...and demanded a refund for all monies that had been charged without my instructions. The "customer service" representative repeated that Glow.com did not issue refunds. I then requested to speak with a supervisor. I was told that the supervisor had already reviewed my account and no refund would be issued. I said that was unacceptable and requested to speak with the supervisor's supervisor. I was told that someone would call me back. Guess what? You got it. No one ever called.
Beware of FREE samples from Glow.com. You can't afford them!

They seel you an over prcised product that doens't work and then 2 months later, reoder for you taking $103.00 out of your checking account without letting you know.
Do not purchase ANYTHING from this company. Do not fall for the FREE TRIAL offer. As stated by others once you purchase ANY item and they have your credit card number they will continue to mail and charge. It is impossible to cancel any order through their website. I am going to work with my credit card company and see if they will no longer honor this company's request for payment.
When I received my order my log in and password were included. There were two different sheets, however, the second sheet did not belong to me and had someone else's log-in and password on it. Since this company has credit card info, it would probably be easy to scam and falsify an order. I have requested they remove my credit card info. Will see what happens.
I was ordering a free trial of their cosmetics and I ended up being sent make-up every month. I was put on a auto sending every month. When I returned their cosmetics I was given a tracking number and told my credit card would be credited. Instead I was charged another month of cosmetic's I did not even have and was told my return never was delivered. Folks stay away from this company they are running a huge scam, and I was a victim.
Website offered free sample-gave c/c for shipping only - charged over $90 for products not ordered-hassle to return!
Free trial offer on hair care products is a scam to charge your payment account, without the ability to stop them after paying shipping charge.
Pooley here again. When I called back, was told no way getting a full refund because in the Terms & Conditions states would take the money out of acct if they were not notified in 14 days to cancel. I asked for the website and was not the same website I ordered from. I called back 3 times to get correct website and each time, right away they hung up on me. I called a 5th time, said didn't know of any other website and offered to refund about $40 for each order and would get in 3 to 5 days. I called the Ellen Show and said they are attempting to do something about it. What I don't know. I WOULD LOVE TO DO A CLASS ACTION AGAINST THEM ! Thousands around the world have experienced the same thing from this co.
When I asked to speak to a supervisor, was told they don't take calls.
To continue: I called RTVL next day and was told when ordered the samples, in the Terms & Conditions", it states if they were not notified whithin 14 days, they would be taking the money out of my acct. Said there is no way would get a full refund! I told him thousands of people all over the world are raged at they took money out of their acct. I asked for that web address to find if see the Terms & Conditions and when looked at it, was not the same website. I called again in attempts to get the correct site I used and when asked for it the next 3 calls, they right away hung up on me. I called a 5th time and he said He didn't know about any other website and could only refund about $40 for each product. I said would accept under protest. I called the Ellen Show [protected], to let them know they are using her name to lure ones in and she seemed irritated getting another call about this. She said they're attempting to do something about it. What I don't know. I think would be good for all of us to call her show to let know how many people effected.
I'D LIKE TO DO A CLASS ACTION !
Pooley back. I called the next day, was told when I ordered online states in Terms & Conditions, would be charged unless notified within 14 days. He said no way will I get a refund. I said there are thousands from around the world who have had this happen & is a scam. I asked for the web address where it states that. the one he gave me is not the one I ordered from. That one is no longer available. He canceled any future billings. I called back 3 more times to talk to another rep and when they heard what issue about, hung up on me. With the 5th call, he offered to refund me about $40 and should receive in 3-5 days. I called the Ellen Show [protected] and let them know they are using her name to lure ones in. The rep seemed to be irritated from getting calls about this and said they are in process of doing something about it. What I don't know. I WOULD LIKE TO DO A CLASS ACTION AGAINST THEM !
Total Scam!
I just received a second shipment! I did not ask for this! This time they charged me over 90 dollars! I can not log in to their site to change my CC Card number! These people are Evil and all need to be in Jail!
I can not believe they are allowed to do this!
I called them and they claim they are having trouble with their system...
That is a total LIE! I did not order this second shipment of this CRAP! Now they will keep taking out money!
So I can do nothing! I am a Victim... They must be stopped!

I have sent them a note that I will take this complaint to consumer court if they do not refund all my money except for the first free sample's shipping charge. This is a complete spam. They do not tell you what you are agreeing for and they keep charging your credit card every month without your knowledge.

unethical business practices
I clicked on a link online - seemed legit - with an offer from the company 'Glow' to order a trial shampoo/conditioner by Kronos. I am a s/w engineer and believe me, was very careful to NOT sign up for any membership, trial offer, etc. The offer was for a trial shampoo and conditioner for $4.95 shipping. When I received the box, I received other products and a 'notification' about my 30 day trial offer of all these products ending in a charge to my card of $98.50
I called the next day after receipt of this box and told the customer service agent to send me a return label as I had not ordered anything that would need to be returned and did not intend to pay for the return shipping or the $98.50 In the case where the customer is not told they will receive the additional items and will be responsible for the return shipping, there should be no responsibility for the person ordering the 'free sample' and paying a shipping charge to get the 'free sample' to also then either cough up the $98.50 or pay for the return shipping - neither of which they were aware of until opening the box and reading the enclosed shipping paperwork.
I'm going to call my credit card company and also log a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in California.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Hmmmm...I am seeing a definate trend with this obviously unethical company! (I am also secretly glad I wasn't the only idiot who fell for their scam!) The exact same thing happened to me, but I caught the fine print as soon as I received the box. I started using the volumizing shampoo & didn't see any WONDEROUS results until the 2nd or 3rd week. (IT actually IS a GOOD product I will seek out through craigslist or ebay in the future!) I had NO intentions of paying almost $100 for future shipments, so I called the company to the the Return Authorization #. The girl on the phone was very pleasant & did try to give me assitance when I let her know I wanted to return the bottles. She did her job well & tried to save my business...which I can appreciate & would have done had it not been for their ridiculas pricing. THEN the "savings offers" began. I finally had to politely, but FIRMLY redirect her to the return auth. # as no amount of "savings" was going to get me into a monthly subscription of SHAMPOO of all things! I promptly emptied the bottles into something else...as it was suppose to be a FREE trial...(& empty bottles are returned much cheaper than partially filled!) I did let her know that I felt the tactics her company (Glow.com) was attempting with the guise of "free trial" & then having to return the bottles or get charged a ridiculas fee was pretty pathetic business practices & will surely lose themselves much more business than if they had just marketed the items honestly & a FAIR price! In the future, I will also do what FRENZIED MOM suggested above & just use a pre-paid card with a low balance to try products! LOL--Wish I had thought of that before this fiasco!
I too fell for this gimick! I immediatly called my credit card company and canceled all transactions with "GLOW". Not sure if it was just my credit card company, but they were pretty great about it..."no problem...will not authorize any further charges for this company". I told them that the original $4.95 that I had agreed to was fine...but nothing further. I even went to the trouble of contacting GLOW for the stupid "return authorization". Got a little bit of a run around until I told them that I had already contacted my credit card and told them not to allow any further charges. That changed their tune somewhat. I then got the return box ready and was going to mail it, at my charge, then decided HECK NO! And I just now threw the product, un-opened & un-used, in the TRASH! Nevr heard from the company again...
I also was lured into this offer, which I usually am NOT.
I cautiously paid the $4.95 with a "gift/rebate" Visa card which I had received from AT&T for renewing my cell service. The card originally had a $50.00 value, most of which I used prior to the Glow offer.
I received my Kronos items, unaware of the return-or-pay thru the nose committment. I did not immediately use the products and after approx 60 days received a call from them demanding the $98.50 or so, or to return the stuff. I refused both.
The woman told me the card I used to pay the $4.95 was invalid now (which I knew would be) and they wanted to collect their balance. I am so happy I paid with a limited funds gift-card, because if I had put this on my persoanl Master Card, I'd have been screwed for the full amount, plus untold future hassles with Kronos/Glow.
The woman threatened to report me to the Credit agencies, at which I told her, GO ahead. The payment method I used was a dead-end for their additional collections, and since I signed NO contract against my personal credit source, they might be powerless to attach my funds, or damage my credit standing.
There was an additional call from them attempting collection, which I again rebuffed.
I've since tried the Kronos (which ain't bad!), but NOT worth the exhorbitant price they wanted to finagle me into, along with probable mess which would have ensued if they had a real, live Visa in my name.
Bottom line: Avoid being lured into a scheme/offer which is too tempting to be true. Nothing is free, and beware of the unseen "strings" which are attached to many of these similar "introductory offers".
BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE... AND DON'T BE INTIMIDATED !
Once your valid credit card number is in a vendor's system
you never know when, or how long it will take to rectify the mess, and recoup any monies they may have charged against you.
CAVEAT EMPTOR !
All the e-mails I sent were returned as undeliverable. Obviously the company is crocked. A honest company would not do business that way.
I had instructed the online assistant not to send the product. They sent it anyway. I did not accept the merchandise. I have still not received a refund for the shipping charges.
I agree that this company is unethical.
I just registered a complaint with the California Business Bureau. Their ads are very misleading which results in them automatically charging your credit card $98. When I attempted to cancel out of my order it captured my credit card information anyways and the next week I received the pack at my house.
Stay away from Glow.com.
The main problem with adds like this is fine print. I feel that if there is a "FREE" offer, it should be just that. Any pending charges and instructions should be clearly printed on the main page ie "WE WILL BILL YOUR CARD!". Just like when using software. The EULA is an assault of legal jargon. The average end user should not be expected to understand legal docs or to have to hire a lawyer to interpret. Hell, if we all could do that, we should automatically get our law degrees. I feel "fine print" needs to be revised or go away all together. I understand that companies have to cover their [censor], but there has to be a better way. Many of these adds seemed to be designed in the hope that many people screw up and don't read everything. I've had problems with other offers where to cancel (not get charged) you HAD to call a # where it was almost impossible to get a hold of someone. Designed in the hope that some will not follow thru or forget.
I am also an engineer and I thought I was savvy to scams. At no time did I authorize additional charges to my credit card. I thought the sample was free as their web site says "free gifts". I only noticed when I read my receipt, which was already 30 days after receiving the product. There has to be a way to get back at companies such as this and the people behind them to make them suffer financially and make it extremely unattractive to scam people on the Internet. Class action lawsuit?
I just spent 40 minutes on the phone to get a required RMA number and was cut off as soon as an agent answered my call. I couldn't follow instructions for getting the return authorization number online as there was no "cancel" link to click.
I am another irritated "free" trial victim.
I've been down the same road. These people are thieves and their product is not as good as drug store brands. I learned a very expensive lesson and can only hope that others will speak up and damage whatever reputation the company may have, which I'm sure is abyssmal.
free trial/deceptive advertising
Company advertises, using pop-up ads on the internet. They indicate a free trial for the cost of shipping and handling, only. No monetary amount other than shipping and handling charge. After completing the order information and credit card information and submitting it, a separate email is received. It indicates that you are billed $0.00 for the product and $4.95 for shipping and handling. At the bottom of the page, in small print, it states that if you decide to keep the product, $78.00 will be billed to your credit card.
The ad leads the customer to believe that they are paying only shipping and handling for a free trial product. However, what is actually purchased, is a free trial period with an inflated follow-up charge.
I too was a Victim! What gets me it they have their own You Tube Channel and there's a whole Network of fake Channels, with false comments! I have noticed on Channel is gone... Wonder why they aren't all in Jail now? Here is their You Tube Channel...

illegal billing on my credit card
In late August, 2009, I ordered a FREE TRIAL of IG Derma Glow on line & was charged s/h of $3.95, as agreed. My October bank statement showed a charge of $96.35 for that "free trial." I spoke w/a representative of that company & was informed that ~ in fine print ~ I was to return the product by Sept. 11 or be charged. I never saw that "fine print, " & even the rep I spoke w/said it was "hard to find, " nonethess, they refused to refund my money & only offered in store credit, even though I offered to return the remainder of the paltry
1.7 & .5 ounces of product (which amounts to $53 an ounce!). I offered to return what was left of the product, which was most of it, but was reminded that I "missed the dealine." Can anything be done to retrieve some of my money?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am very upset with Derma-Glow and HR cream-found them both on Facebook. Beware-$4.95 is a 14 day trial-then your card is charged approx. $89 dollars each. I disputed my charge. HR cream finally gave me a refund after about 1/2 on phone. Do Not fall for this. Great if you knew about it, or were invoiced. There was no info in the package-no packing slip with details of you must return for the 14 day trial or you would be charged almost $100 for the same small amount of product.
Same thing here I thought it was free until it came in then I saw it had to be returned. My fault I didn't return it.
I tried to cancel online but they tell me my email address isn't valid but they sent my user name and password to the very same email address they tell me isn't good.
They have kept charging me but they are not even sending the product . I have filed a charge back with my credit card company.
What a hoax...bad representation of their Product. I tried the Free Trial and thought I had read the small text and still I am not sure that I ever read that you needed to return the product within 30 days. Not only did they charge the 96.35 but shipped another package out and charged the same amount again. When I called I told the representative that she needed to credit my card immediately for the last charge I was told that I needed to send the package back with one of their Return Authorization #'s and would get my credit back as soon as they receive the package. IT's a Scam as far as I am concerned!
same here sent for a free sample and paid the shipping and was duped into being charged 89.00 on my credit card then to add salt to the wound Discover Card takes the I could care less attitude. Trying to resolve this issue with the company and not having any luck at this time
n 03/23/2010, I noticed that ny checking account, (Debit card) was billed $82.95, an unauthorized charge. I had subscribed to free trial products and by error failed to return then and was billed (IBI*IQ DERMA GLOW) $78.00, which I did not contest because it was my failure.
I have canceled this recent charge at a cost to me of $35.00. I have tried and failed to contact the company twice. I am in process of sending this info to the NY state Attorney General

this seems to be the case with all of the free trial products, they are not free, You find that you have been charged full price before the 30 days.
free trial
Online I responded to an offer of a free trial of a face cream for only the cost of postage and handling $6.95. Idiot that I am I did not read the packing slip which told me I had to return the Bottles within 14 days or I would be charged $96. I had no idea of this until I saw a charge on my bank account of 96. I called the company and they say they will refund my money when they recieve the bottles back. I consider this FRAUD IF NOT THEFT. MY FREE TRIAL HAS NOW COST $10.00 postage and my haveing to borrow money from family to keep my account from being overdrawn. I should have checked this out before responding to this ad . They do not tell you what you are agreeing to before you sign up

I clicked on an ad for a "free trial" of mineral makeup for which I paid $4.95. When I got the box, there was documentation inside saying I would have cancel within 30 days or else be charged $90 dollars. I read the receipt that came with the delivery--thankfully---so I'm returning it...but if I hadn't, I would have been charged $90 for something advertised as "free." As it is, I didn't like the makeup and now I've paid $4.95 to have the "free trial" delivered and then additional shipping and handling charges to ship it back. I'm sure the details are somewhere in the fine print but it's willfully deceptive, which, in my book = scam.
I almost order "free trial"offer by Kronos hair system (it looked great). I'm happy I googled before purchase it . . I'm sorry what you went thru, and many thanks for posting your complaints here. Damn, I couldnt get out of their website, 60% off shipping, and other deals just to dont let me go...and then I sent this link when I was asked why I was leaving ...Thanks a lot...lets be cautious next time!

I too fell for the Kronos free trial scam. When I found the statement saying I would be billed $98.50 in 30 days inside the box, I immediately contacted Glow to return the product unopened. I was told that return shipping would be free if the original packaging was still intact, however, the post office refused to send the package back without guaranteed postage, so it cost me $10 to return. All in all, I spent $15 for a product I never used. This is very bad business and I'm going to contact The Clark Howard Show to let them know about it. These folks deserve to be exposed.
I got into the same trap too. I ordered the free trial Kronos Hair Transformation Kit and received it with statement of followup monthly bill at about $100. I paid $11 to send it back within 7 days per Glow's order. So end up total shipping more than $15 for nothing.
I searched for this site and it wasn't hard to find. I knew I could not be the only victim of glow.com's fraudulent and deceptive practices. My experience is echoed by the previous posts. I was shocked and appalled to find that my "free trial" had m9rphed into a charge of $89.95 as I read the package invoice. I called customer service and they boldly defended glow.com's practices. Wow! They must get their employees from "The Emporer Has No Clothes" school of customer service. I am now in the process of returning their products according to their iron-fisted specifications. The company is so sleezy I can only hope that upon the return of their products they don't diabolically perform some other form of "bait-and-switch." Is there nothing that can be done to protect the public from this deceit?
Unauthorized charges
I did sign up for the free trial of this product and once I received it I went online and canceled my account. I did request to send it back but didn't realize that it had to be done by a specific date. I looked at my checking account because of some overdraft fees I was charged with. I then saw where this company had taken $90.00 from my account. My income...

Glow.com is deceptive in its offer. They offered trial products with brushes for ONLY "shipping charges $1.95". I assumed they would follow up with an email questionnaire or options to buy more etc. But the next month I found a $90 charge on my credit card, non-refundable. The product is similar to Bare Minerals, but the company is without integrety. If you return the product you will only get a voucher for more product. I won't buy from them again.

Saw add for free trail on shampoo just pay for S+H $4.95. In June, received the shampoo after trying which I wasn't overly impressed with it. Two months later I received a package from GLOW.com which I did not open and sent back to sender. Two days later I received my credit card bill which showed July 15th for $98.50 and Aug. 10th for $103.45. I was alarmed to say the least. I called Glow.com and informed them they billed me for unauthorized purchases. They told me I signed up for a 30 day trail. I did not sign up for a 30 day trail I signed up for FREE Trail just pay $4.95 for S+H. They said look at the email we sent on June 10th. The email had on top "FREE TRAILS" It should $0.00 for Shampoo and I was charged $4.95 for S+H. Great right...I thought so but, no you need to scroll down and read the small print "30 day trail". We I tried to get a refund they refused. I found it very apparent from the rep and supervisor they were well trained for this scam. Nothings "free" unless it is a scam. Don't deal with GLOW.com very deceptive practices!
I got the free sample. I returned within the trial date. I noticed I was charged $98.50 on bank statement. Contacted them, said they did not receive return. It had been 3 weeks. They couldn't find a return from me, but they said they would go on and give credit. I didn't receive credit. Contact glow. They said they received my return and refund was issued on 9/7. Said to contact credit card issuer, which is my bank. I contact my bank they could not find a credit from glow. I contacted glow and they wanted information. My bank called their department. They wanted a bank statement. So they fax that to glow. They call my bank back and said the refund was credited and that's all can do.
NO REFUND! HELP!
I also saw this company's offer to try their mineral cosmetics for only 4.95 S&H. Luckily, when they sent me a confirmation e-mail, I read it carefully and saw that if I kept the cosmetics they would charge me $90. I immediately sent them an e-mail telling them to cancel my order. They did not respond until the next day (even though they are located in CA, and therefore are 3 hours behind me). They told me it was too late to cancel; the order was shipped. They told me I could return it unopened and receive a full refund. Once I received the box, I called to get an RMA number to return my package. While I was talking to the rep, he told me that my order was actually shipped two days AFTER I e-mailed them to cancel the order! I was livid. I was then told that not only would I not receive a refund for my shipping charges, but I would also not receive the original shipping.
So, out of the 38.95 plus another 10.00 to return it, I received a refund of 29.00.
A TOTAL RIPOFF! Do not fall for this!

Same here when I recieved the confirmation email it said that its free trial. Total cost free only shipping and handling $4.95. Now they are calling me and harassing to pay $90+ . This is an harasment, misguiding solicitation. The product does not even work that well! only if I knew that they would charge me I would have retuned after the first use... actually I don't even use it anymore..
With Glow.com I too was under the impression that this free trial was to be charged only shipping and no automatic charges would be rendered unless I signed up for them, when I tried to cancel the subscription they put me on, they first tried to give me a 65% off deal, when I refused they tried to give me a 75% off deal, this tells me their product is only worth about a quarter of what they charge, on top of scamming people with "FREE" offers they over charge for a product that doesn't live up to it's claims.
i can not believe they will not remove my credit card from their system. they keep telling me they want to but can not. hahhahahaaaaaaaaaaa ridiculous!
I never heard of that. I asked for a vice president's name and they would not give me a name. they offered the supervisor who said they can not do it and specified they could only give me the first name of the supervisor. why would a customer service company not offer names of higher ups. afraid of complaints about the reps not going above and beyond to make people happy!
I am filing a complaint with the FCC! thanks for sharing the info!
I want to add that I found it so interesting that when I ordered the item that was free except for the shipping charge (hmm) I received a confimation email that my item was shipped. when the auto renew happened no shipping email. I felt like they were trying to sneak it in.
I also resented having to pay for return shipping!
OMG! what an unethical company. I had the same experience.
