So I was in need of a recliner after wearing out the one I had bought from sams funiture years ago. I decided to go to the store after seeing so many ads each day on tv. What a mistake. I met a friendly salesperson that led me to the recliners. I inquired about the tv pricing I had seen. HE infomed me it had ended and pricing was on the merchandise but would receive a military discount. So I sat in the recliner and he said it was an oversize one. It felt large to me so I decided on it. Then he informed me it would have to be ordered and shipped in about a week. He also said I needed to buy the extended warranty as it would quickly cover any repairs or would be completely replaced or refunded. After a week I went to the store and had it loaded into my car out of the box. I noticed when I got home it did not seem as large as the one I sit in at the store. The smell was so overhelming that it caused numerous asthmatic attacks with whatever chmeicals used. Then in only two weeks the right side back busted and I was sitting totally crooked. Upon looking inside the material I could see the busted boards. I went online to my warranty and filed a claim. I then text the salesman whcich replied I needed to send info to another number. I started reading reviews that stated hanks did not do returns. Of course its the only recliner in my house and as of today it is still broken and non from the store, or from corporate in sherman arkansas has reached out to me. They claim to be military friendly but this disabled veteran feels like a fool as I got taken. Also my daughter let me know the same recliner was showing 200.00 cheaper on their website so the salesman made about 300.00 off of me. If it was a smaller company it would be a crime but since they think they are so big that us little guys mean nothing. I think sears, kmart once thought that. I hope anyone that reads this review will go anywhere but too hanks. If I can save one customer from the bad experience then its worth my time to do this review.
Hank’s Fine Furniture totally let you down with their dishonest practices, shoddy products, and lack of support. You were lied to about pricing, pushed into buying an extended warranty that they now are not honoring, and given a defective item.
Ask for a refund or replacement directly from Hank’s corporate office. Make sure to document all communication as well as include pictures of the damage and warranty claim. If they still ignore you, dispute the transaction with your credit card provider. Share what happened to you widely in order to warn others; also think about filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau or your state’s consumer protection agency. Do not let them exploit you especially being veteran.
