I have been a customer at this heb location for the past two years, I really do enjoy shopping at this location, up until about a month ago. I have been treated very bad and have been very disrespected by two female cashiers in the same month. The first one named adrianna was very rude and disrespectful when I went through her lane, she waited until she rang up all my items to embarass me by telling me that next time I needed to get in the lane that was for more items, instead of just telling me from the beginning that she couldn't ring me up because I had too many items. Then when I asked for her name because she wasn't wearing her name tag, she said "it's right here on my jacket, you see it?". I felt really embarrassed and insulted. That was about 3 weeks ago. Now about 2 days ago, there was another cashier named mary jane that was even worse than the first one. I went to her lane with my groceries that I was going to buy, and also some things that were outdated. Heb has a policy that if you find something out dated they will give you the good item for free. Well it seemed like she got very irritated that she had to ring up those items, as soon as I told her about the free items, she got upset giving dirty looks and making noises like I was bieng a bother to her. Then I asked her if I upset her for some reason because I felt that she was bieng very rude to me, and she told me"well, i'm not saying anything am i?, so I think i"m bieng nice enough". All this time giving me dirty looks and sighing like I was such a bother to her. I have never felt so disrespected in my life, twice in one month. I thought heb was supposed to keep their customers happy? I think they need to look at who their hiring and get their cashiers in check! This makes me want to stop shopping at heb. Maybe I will go to walmart where they are much nicer.

1st complaint is bogus. Can't you even count your damn grocery items? It say 10 itelms or les for a reason. So, stay the hell out! You must think you are so damn special that you can disregard rules, at will. Your 2nd complaint is just plain stupid.

The first cashier doesn't sound rude at all. She was nice enough to ring you up even though you had too many items, and she kindly informed you that you were in an express line so that you would know the next time you came through. It's not her fault you're easily embarrassed. Would you have preferred to get shot down immediately and sent to look for another line? Probably not - and you'd probably be complaining about being sent away if she had. Did you even bother to apologize for your mistake?

Secondly, the HEB policy on over-date items is H-E-B's way of saying their committed to providing fresh items. Unfortunately ringing up out of date items is a little more time consuming than ringing up regular items. H-E-B stresses speed for all their checkers and monitors it using the items per second (IPM) rate. Low IPM rates reflect badly on an employee, and scanning out-of-date items (especially a lot of them), will always bring down the IPM rate of any cashier. Checking those out of dates is a bother because it means any progress a cashier has made with their IPM rate is undone and they have to work that much harder to get it back up.

That's not to say she should have been sighing and openly irate about it. A checker should maintain their composure even when a customer comes through with a basket full of out of dates. It's not a customer's fault that HEB implements that policy - but CASHIERS suffer for it whenever someone uses it and/or abuses it. So next time you bring half a dozen out-of-dates to the counter, remember - that nifty little policy you're using is going to cost that cashier, and they're going to have to have to work that much harder to get back to where they were just so you could have a few free items. Be grateful for the policy - because I doubt Wally World has anything like it.

I am up to 300 dollars now il see how much I can take:) you people sound like ### holes I use to work for Heb and I never gave a rats ### about how fast I was. All I did was try to do my job right and with no complaints. Reading this stuff makes me feel much less bad for going to a docen stores and taking thousands of dollars in free merchendice.

I hate the american consumer! Born here and raised here ...and embarrassed to be here! People expect the world on a platter just because you spend a few bucks at a store? seriously this is retarded. First, like others have mentioned, count your items. Second, its a CASHIER. This is where we are in the world as human beings that when a CASHIER doesn't treat you like the queen of england, you get all offended and your world comes crashing down? You're not THAT important, don't flatter yourself. The only problem here is you putting yourself on a pedestal and expecting to much out of a CASHIER like if they were a brain surgeon.
