Awesome job today!
Awesome job today! We will no longer call any other company, this company went above and beyond to make sure the job was done properly and promptly. Will definitely highly recommend 11/10 service.
Technicians were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and concerns
Technicians were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and concerns. They showed up with smiles , did the job well and were out on time. Very satisfied. Thank you for hard work home service plus.
We had an AC unit installed in 2018. The service agreement required an inspection of the unit once a year to uphold the warranty. As per the agreement we had them in to service it in 2019. They sent out a very young technician to do it. Very shortly after, the entire unit was frozen up. They had to come out and replace the pump, which they did at no cost.
Then comes 2020 and Covid. I have major health issues and prior to Covid I was set to have some breathing tests done but they are still to this day not doing those tests because they aerosolize the air. Due to these health issues I was advised from my Dr. and allergist to not have anyone in my house and to stay away from others. At the beginning of Covid, doctors didn't know how getting Covid would affect me. All that to say that we didn't get the AC checked that year. Had there not been a global pandemic, combined with my very bad health related to breathing we would have had the check done.
We call them this year and book the checkup. I tell the person on the phone that it is very important that their guys wear a mask in my house due to my health. The receptionist says she will make a note for the technician.
The day of the inspection comes and the technician shows up wearing a buff (really thin piece of cloth that goes around your neck and can be pulled up over your mouth). I don't like confrontation, so I didn't say anything to the technician and just wore my mask and kept my distance from him.
The first test he does is check the temperature difference between input and output. He tells me it is 12° difference and that it should be between 15° and 20° if it was working properly. He then calls the office and they tell him we didn't have a service done last year and so we have no warranty. He says we will have to pay for them to come out and test the system and then fix it. Likely it would cost around $1,200. I tell him why we didn't have the service done last year and he calls back to talk to the owner and tell him that. The owner says it is a hard and fast rule so too bad. I tell him that a little compassion would go a long way and I would like to talk to the owner especially since it's not normal to have all these issues with a new system.
So I call the owner. I tried to explain the situation but he just talked over me and told me that all his other customers had the checks done even with Covid so I should have too. He argued with me for about an hour on the phone and then offered to come out and put stop leak in the unit for $289.
I called a few AC guys and they said they wouldn't do that on a new unit because it could basically hide the real issue for a year or two but then it could happen again, and by then, our parts warranty would be over. I called the owner back and he said it is the way most companies fix this issue. Ok so why was I told by his own tech that they would have to come and check that entire unit and it would likely cost $1,200?
He then told me the most common problem is the Schrader valves and so I said how much would it be to fix those? He said he would do it for $189.
We really want to know that actual problem in case we need to use that parts warranty. So I called a different company here in Winnipeg and had them come out. So they came out prepared to drain and leak test the unit properly. They started by checking the temperature difference between intake and output to see what they were starting with. It was 15°. I couldn't believe it and neither could he. He checked it 3 times and it was always 15°. So there was never any problem. He did notice that the furnace fan was running pretty fast and told me if it was going a bit slower we would have a house that was less humid and therefore more comfortable, especially on the top floor. He said he wanted to check the unit outside before changing anything. He checked the pressures and the compressor. Then he adjusted the furnace fan speed (it took 2 minutes). Now our system is much quieter and our house is much more comfortable.
I realize that I didn't get the annual check last year but there were very valid reasons. A little compassion goes a long way. Even if the owner would have listened to my concerns instead of starting the call by talking over me and being very dismissive of me.
Purchased furnace and A/C installed in November . The installer , Rob, was extremely professional , knowledgeable and personable. Very accommodating with me being very particular with the install. Pleased with the performance of both heating and cooling. Have them every season for both heat and cooling equipment checks in large part to maintain the warranty coverage through them. Must say the inspection for the A/C is not very involved and perhaps too quick for the $89 plus taxes. All the technician had done was record the Delta T for supply and return air. Borrow my hose to wash the compressor unit ( which I regularly do) . That may be because the unit is still considered new at being only just over 1 year old at the time. The heating checks were more involved and seemingly worth the $89 plus taxes. Again the unit is still considered relatively new. If asked if I were to recommend this company for having a new furnace and or A/C installed by them, I would at this point say yes.

Our new furnace and hot water tank installation was done quickly and the tradesmen were very friendly. They removed all the old equipment and did an excellent job cleaning up when they finished. The company took extra precautions given the pandemic situation to ensure a safe working environment for us and their employees. The company's office staff phoned to provide us with conformation of our installation date and again to inform us of the cleaning and installation staff's arrival time. We would highly recommend this company to anyone requiring heating, gas installation or electrical work.

Yesterday, I made a phone call to Home Service Plus Winnipeg Heating & Cooling at 668 Golspie St. I'm a senior citizen and I was looking for help because my furnace was shutting itself down. I explained what was going on. The woman who answered the phone said to me, "I will not send anyone for 7 hours, so don't call." I got upset with the response. This took place on Feb. 14th, 2022, in the afternoon.

I was never told I had to have them clean the furnace every year for, I guess 10 years, which is unheard of. I believe there should still be a Manufacturers Warranty on this unit.
My last furnace and duct clean up was done by Home Service Plus and I just want to share my experience regarding this
My last furnace and duct clean up was done by Home Service Plus and I just want to share my experience regarding this. By seeing their advertisement, I decided to get their service without knowing some of the pitfalls. They did the duct cleaning and during the furnace tune up, they wiped out some dust from here and there and didn't literally do any tune ups (which is what was expected as part of furnace tune up). Then at the end of this process, they inserted a camera into the furnace box and found a potential minor crack inside the furnace which might have been there for years. This discovery raised concerns about the safety of the furnace.
The technician said, he will have to turn off the furnace and block the natural gas supply to the house. Immigrating from a tropical climate where temperatures are always 25 degree Celsius+, many of us can't really live below 10 dc without the furnace heat. Having two small children and this being done at the end of October in Winnipeg, I begged him to not do that at least till I get a chance to replace the furnace and said that I can't live at this low temperature. His stand was, it is his legal responsibility to ensure the safety of the household.
Without my consent, he went ahead and disabled some of the controls on the furnace and turned off the natural gas supply into the house. He also gave us a quote on a new furnace and offered to install that in a week or so, if I sign up for that offer.
Stranding without knowing what to do, I searched in Google to find if I can get a furnace installed sooner. Luckily, a local salesman came by the same day. After giving a quote for his furnace, he said he is more interested in getting some heat immediately in my home and advised me to contact Manitoba hydro. The next day a hydro employee visited my home and said he don't see any issues and reset everything back.

Hired Home Service Plus for AC tune up May 29, so the unit would be ready for the hot summer
Hired Home Service Plus for AC tune up May 29, so the unit would be ready for the hot summer. AC passed. However, it was almost out of cooling agent. Home Service Plus came May 29 for an AC inspection / tune up. We wanted to ensure it was working great before the hot weather arrived, as we now work from home. The technician gave the AC unit a passing grade. The only concern he noted was that the capacitor was 11 microfarad instead of 15-20. He brought the capacitor inside the house and suggested we replace it. I said the AC unit always starts (as it did when he was here). Also, we don't want to spend money repairing a 24 year old AC. After he walked out through the front door, I witnessed him drop the capacitor on my concrete front step. My doorbell camera also captured this. However, the AC still turned on. Before he left, he stated that the cooling agent leaks out when levels are tested, so if someone else checks it, they might get a lower reading. This left me wondering if more leaked out than he intended. When the heat wave arrived, we realized that the air coming from the AC unit was cold only when the AC unit first started up for the day. I called Home Service Plus on June 30 to ask why my house was so hot when the AC passed the tune up inspection. The receptionist put me on hold for just a moment. She said she spoke with the owner. Even though they hadn't pulled my file, she said the owner knew for certain it was the capacitor that was the issue. I then told her about how the technician dropped the capacitor on concrete. She was quick to divert accountability and said the capacitor was already broken. I explained that the capacitor is turning the unit on for a bit, but then the cold air eventually stops. I recounted that I have experience with this at a previous house, and the issue there was low coolant. She would hear none of it. I asked her to pull my file while I made some calls. She refused to pull my file unless I booked another service appointment. As a result of not having a working AC unit, we haven't been able to sleep for the last week, and our kitten has been very sick. We had a new AC unit installed by professionals on July 3, and it works amazing. The issue with our old 24 year unit was that the coolant was very low. Not the capacitor. If we had known, we would have replaced the unit a month ago (and not during a heat wave). This was why we hired a professional for an inspection back on May 29.
