To avoid neck strain during sit-ups, draw elbows back, gently rest fingertips behind the head, and use a small pelvic tilt forward to keep the lower back in contact with the floor. Focus on sitting upward rather than curling inward, and use the abdominals to lift yourself up, exhaling forcefully with every crunch.
