Tutoring service
We've tried out Huntington Learning Center and have found it useful in some ways and not so much in other ways. The kids were able to work and practice on very specific challenges that they encountered but we have felt that the kids needed a bit more than just targeting their weaknesses. The kids also felt that the structure was a bit repetitive so we had to opt out and try out other sources. The kids have really enjoyed Beestar and the curriculum has their suited their needs. The kids also joined the GT program and have really done an amazing job.
Dishonest
Signed my high school daughter up for SAT tutoring. McKinney, TX location was more concerned about selling us additional services than they ever were about raising her scores. They constantly had her attendance wrong and are trying to charge us for hours when she wasn't receiving sessions. When Covid hit, they eventually closed their McKinney location down...

I applied for loan through this center for $8000. My son took less lessons because they told him he doesn't need more, so he was taking only 1 hour and a half a day. My husband contacted Chris Gonzalez for the hours my son didn't do and we were charged for. He answered only 1 time the call and after was hiding every time we try to make a contact with him. I'm charged $1300 more for a service my son never got.

my great grandson’s shows no improvement after attending many huntington sessions
I am paying a loan that's over $9, 000 of which, I need my money back from this loan agreement. My 9 year old great grandson's grades did not improve. I feel the sessions ended too soon. He showed no improvement nor did he pass the state test which was my main objective. He attended the Williamsbridge Bronx location in New York. My child's name is Shamir Williams and my name is Phyllis Johnson. He is currently attending ANOTHER after school program. Please email me at [protected]@outlook.com to discuss how to resolve this issue. Your quick response and follow-up is greatly appreciated.
Please confirm you’ve received my complaint.
Thank You,

tutoring
Last year my daughter was seeking tutoring for ACT and SAT prep I spent $3000 which was extremely hard
all along through her tutoring experience we asked for additional timings my daughter realized she was having a lot of difficulty finishing the practice tests
The people in the Carmel Mountain Ranch San Diego CA. Location knew it was a hardship for me to afford the cost but they claimed all along they are experts in the education field but failed to recognize my daughter's need for additional timing and her difficulties reading fast enough with all that my daughter was going through I asked for my $3000 be returned they failed my daughter they didn't help benefit her.
I've asked the mgr Ultika Myggen several times for a refund with not even and apology or offer to refund I was told to contact the franchise owner but I never heard back I'm just asking for a refund $3000 I had to borrow this money and if your staff really couldn't help my daughter they should at least refund me and admit they failed us so I can seek help else where they should have recognized her struggling but didn't. All I'm asking is for a refund since they failed to help my daughter.

waste of money - complete rip off
Went to them because they advertise Study Skills which my son really needed before entering high school. After they did their bogus testing on him - they claimed he was behind 3 grades - even though he was an A/B student. So we were concerned enough to sign up for their program to bring him to grade level. After a couple of weeks (he was going every day) and very little progress - they wanted more hours to teach him Study Skills. We had agreed to a certain number of hours at a cost of $5, 000 and we were not giving them any more. They completely wasted my son's time and our money. By the way - after his high school tested him at the beginning of the school year - he is in honors classes so I guess he wasn't behind at all. Now we have a loan that we are paying back and a tutor to help him with the Study Skills he really needed. SAVE YOUR MONEY
dont sign up
They are just interested in signing up, no follow up with parents . Do not try to figure out what the child needs . I could easily have gotten a high school kid and helped her with her questions and doubts, because they just do that .
My child had signed up for AP physics tutoring, she is hard working kid.
They do not have a game plan or any structure, do not test the child to figure out if she is getting the hang of the subject . I would never never recommend the centre and will make sure i tell all the people i come in contact with .
Wasted my hard earned money .
director was rude when wanted to discontinue son
Two months ago I enrolled my son in Huntington Learning Center because he was failing 7the grade Math and English. As a single mother, the cost of $10, 500.00 was money I did not have but was willing to take out a loan and do what I could do to help my son with his studies. They tested him and said he was at a fourth grade reading level and said he would need 240 hours of work to bring him up to grade level. My concern was how was he going to catch up with his studies as well as keep up with his current studies. My concerns were validated because after 2 months and $4, 200.00 later my son did worse his second school semester than his first but was now reading at a 7th grade level. That is because he REALLY was not reading on a fourth grade level. When I expressed my concerns during my monthly interview, I was first told that he was there to be re-taught what he had not learned. After still failing Math exams, I insisted that they go over his schoolwork since I did not have additional money to send him to another tutor. At that time, I told Tim, one of the coordinator's that I was considering taking my son out, since he was recently tested by his school and was given IEP(independent education program) services. I was convinced that my son was doing well, according to their curriculum but his school grades, which matter, were worse than when he entered the program. When I mentioned that I was discontinuing my son, I was met with hostility from both program directors. I argued withe thee program director Vicky Stevens, who told me my son WILL fail when I remove him. I told her he was doing better withe the individual tutor I got for him and the school's services and I was told to see her when he fails in the 9the grade. I could not believe the insensitivity in which I was spoken to just because I wanted to remove my son from a program that was not working for him. I was made to feel like I was an irresponsible parent. I was not disputing the fact that I had to pay for a service that did not work for my son but belittled because I did not want to continue to pay for the services any more. All I wanted to do was to discontinue my son from their services and "professionals" at Huntington Learning Center disgraced my decision.

We stopped service with them and they lied about the amount of fuel that was in the tank and short changed us our credit. About $700.00
poor service / no results
We should have investigated this company more thoroughly before engaging. Their program is based on capturing your money, not improving your childs test scores. We engaged in a 12 week program and paid for the first six weeks ($1100) that was reported to increase the average students SAT score by over 200 points. My son attended all the sessions and completed all the homework, and then took a practice SAT after the first six weeks, and actually scored lower than when we started. He is a 3.5 GPA rising senior and takes honors level course work. He was struggling to test at his expected level, and we were sold by HLC that their "techniques" for SAT/ACT test improvement are not taught in schools. The program is a scam. The "teachers" are unqualified, and the manager/owner was completely disengaged. They will not discuss test results over the phone, as they are trained to get you on their "home turf" so they can pressure you (in front of your kids) to continue with more paid services that don't work. Do not give this company any of your money.

We take all feedback seriously, and our staff works diligently to not only meet our clients’ expectations, but to exceed them.
Although, we are not at liberty to discuss individual results, we do wish to comment on the writer’s remarks. Huntington Learning Centers, Inc. has been helping students achieve academic success over the past 34 years. Our Tampa Center has been assisting students to achieve their desired SAT/ACT scores since 2001. Our program is based on both parent and student commitment to goals; shared involvement is paramount. Students are required to practice and reinforce tutoring session assignments at home. All programs are individualized. Parents are called when homework assignments are not completed. Documented notes are kept of all calls to parents – even when parents do not call us back.
In preparing for our parent-student conferences to review practice test results, we analyze each of the sections and question types, as well as the student’s pacing and strategies to provide our clients with a precise program for score increases .Fortunately, it is very unusual that a parent refuses to conference with us either in person or via telephone.
Finally, our tutors are certified teachers who are required to take the SAT/ACT exam and score exceptionally in their area of expertise. We are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS).
We are extremely proud of our students’ score increases and our Center’s long history of engaging students and parents to attain their goals.
My son went to Huntington Learning Center and improved his SAT score by 300 points, 100 points in each of the three areas tested. I think the main area where he got help was unterstanding the testing techniques, such as when to answer a question and when not to. Increasing his test scores boosted his self confidence and also allowed him to get a partial scholarship at the college he attends. He never would have been able to accomplish this without Huntington Learning Center.
My daughter attended a Huntington Learning Center last year in South Florida for SAT, and raised her score more than 300 points. She is now on an academic scholorship at Emory. Knowing my daughter, there is no way she could have done that on her own. I will say she worked very hard and did all of the homework including vocabulary flash cards every night. Like anything else, you get out what you put in.
tutor slapped kid
Every day my child has gone to Huntington I have had my child have complaints about a teacher slapping a kid every time he didn't get something. My child has never wanted to go to Huntington when his time was. So I had a solution that was to sneak in in his seccsion and see if it was really going on and it was! OH MY GOD! I took Michel out of their right that minute! I went into that Huntington and started cussing at them and also they didnt notice and care what was going on its so retarted! I never put my child back in Huntington ever again! My advice is to not start Huntington or if your in Huntington watch what goes on their.

This is obviously a hoax.
No specific location is mentioned, only that it occurred in the United States. The picture is clearly not from a Huntington Learning Center as neither the picture on the wall, the desk the child is at, the color on the walls, or the carpeting are of the type used in Huntington Centers.
Slander and liable are against the law and false reports of child neglect or abuse are reprehensible.

sexual harrassment
The franchise owner frequently makes inappropriate sexual comments to tutors and staff. Huntington Learning Center should not allow this man to be associated with their name. Anyone who works in that center could easily speak of his inappropriateness and lack of caring. When he is present at the center, there is a large sense of discomfort among both tutors and students.

I signed my child up for tutoring, at a cost of $10, 000. After about a month I did not witness any progress, so I went to speak with Maria Benischek, the Director of Education. Maria appeared intoxicated, and told me not to worry about it, the center had it covered.
Not being satisfied with this response, I spoke with Audrey Viscardi, the Center Director, who told me my child was mentally deficient. She said the center could not help my child, however, my $10, 000 was nonrefundable so I might as well just keep him in the program. This place should be shut down!
I do not like this program at all! My child goes to a wonderful elementary school and they said he does not know a lot of things and his teacher says he does. They are so expensive and crazy looking. I would be afraid to leave my child with these creeps. Please do not send your child here. A private tutor is a whole lot better.
This people they not professional, my son was in 70 and75 and he complited 50 hours and get my son report card it was in 60, 65 !That program is b[censored] they just want your money and on top of that he have like 7 different teacher!i lost my son time my time and the money!
Oliver - your unused tuition is fully refundable, and that is stated in your General Enrollment Form. Maybe you have HLC confused with another provider?
don't work for them
Huntington Learning Center in Chicago treats its employees poorly and takes advantage of its customers. Don’t even bother wasting your time. You work hard there, but for little to no money.
The hiring and treatment of the directors is awful. It was their ethics that drove me away. Additionally, the directors have very little education experience -- one of them has an education degree but has never worked in a classroom or actually taught on a full time basis
They do hire absolutely everyone, make you go through training and take exams for your license. When you start, you have a rough time getting hours, and then they make you sucker in by having more people to come and work for them. I worked in the Clark office and the management is horrible! They are rude, even to the point of being racist. Definitely, don’t work THERE! It’s not worth the stress, mistreatment, and costs.

bad employer
Huntington Learning Center in Little Rock treats its employees poorly and takes advantage of its customers. The materials they use are sometimes up to 20 years out of date, the methods they use are so rigid and lockstep that if your child has any unusual circumstances they will simply not know how to handle them, and additionally the owners have very little...
