i-to-i TEFL Review: Decent Program with Some Downsides
I gotta say, I was pretty skeptical about i-to-i at first. I mean, unpaid internships for tefl/tesol? That's gotta be a scam, right? But after doing some research, I found out that sometimes an unpaid practicum is just part of the course, and it's usually only about 20 hours or so. So that's not too bad.
But let me tell you, if you're thinking about teaching in SEA and not getting paid, don't do it! That's a total scam. Just apply for a teaching job in SEA and you'll get paid. It's that simple.
Overall, I think i-to-i is a pretty decent program. They offer a variety of courses and certifications, and their website is easy to navigate. The only downside is that some of their courses can be a bit pricey. But if you're serious about teaching English abroad, it's definitely worth considering.
i-to-i.com Review: A Total Rip-Off with False Promises and No Support
I gotta tell ya, this website i-to-i.com is a total rip-off. I mean, you fork over your hard-earned cash to work your butt off and get treated like dirt. I thought it would be a sweet deal for a short-term gig, but man was I wrong. The website is full of lies (like saying you'll have your own private bedroom, when in reality you gotta share it with some random stranger) and they promised a kitchen in the accommodation, but nope, nada. And once you arrive, you're on your own, no support whatsoever. I read some bad reviews before I signed up, but I figured it couldn't be that bad since it was only for a few months and I wasn't too concerned about the pay. But let me tell you, it was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent. Don't make the same mistake I did, folks. Stay far away from i-to-i.
i-to-i Review: Beware of Sneaky Tefl Internship Scam in Beijing
My experience with i-to-i was back in 2017, and let me tell you, it was not a pleasant one. These sneaky Brits tried to pull a fast one on my partner and me by offering us a "Tefl Internship" in Beijing for a measly 8,000 rmb. But, being the savvy investigators that we are, we dug a little deeper and found out that it was actually a full-time job that paid 16,000 rmb. The catch? It was disguised as an internship so that i-to-i and Jeremy, the CEO at Best Learning aka Beile Education Group, could pocket the extra 8,000 rmb every month for 6 months.
To make matters worse, we later found out that six other teachers had fallen into the same trap. They were stuck in legally-binding contracts and couldn't do anything about it. It was a real shame to see hard-working teachers being taken advantage of like that.
Overall, my experience with i-to-i was a complete disappointment. It's clear that they care more about making a quick buck than actually helping people find legitimate teaching opportunities. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking to teach abroad.
i-to-i TEFL Online Course Review: Insightful Content, Live Webinars, and Great Support
I gotta say, my experience with i-to-i TEFL has been pretty darn good. Right from the get-go, the staff were super helpful. I decided to go for the 120 hour online course, as well as the Advanced Grammar course and Teaching English for Business.
Now, I gotta admit, I come from a teaching background, so I didn't feel like I needed the hands-on teaching practice. But even so, I found the course content to be really helpful and insightful. And for someone who's never taught English as a second language before, I honestly learned a LOT.
One thing I really appreciated was the live online webinars. You could ask any questions you wanted, and even participate in live seminars. It was a great way to get some extra support and guidance. Plus, you could go back and listen to old seminars, and connect with other students and teachers.
Each unit had a multiple choice questionnaire to do, and some of them were pretty intense. But it was a good way to make sure you really understood the material. And there were checkpoints to complete, with really good feedback on each assignment. You had to do things like create lesson plans, correct students' work, identify speech errors, and come up with creative games.
Overall, I found the course to be really beneficial. And I'm happy to say that I've even landed my first teaching job, which I'll be starting in September. So thanks, i-to-i, for doing such a great job!
i-to-i TEFL: Deceptive Sales Tactics and Scam Allegations
I gotta say, I was pretty disappointed with my experience with i-to-i. First off, the sales reps straight up lied to me about needing their TEFL certificate to teach in China. I mean, come on, it's 2018 and there's never been a requirement for a TEFL certificate for foreign teachers in China. And yet they had the nerve to tell me that without their certificate, I'd only be able to get a kindergarten job. What a load of baloney.
But that's not even the worst part. If you do a quick search on duckduckgo.com with the keywords "TEFLonline" or "i-to-i" and "scam," you'll find pages and pages of complaints that don't even show up on Google. Why? Because these guys are buying up thousands of dollars worth of Google AdWords and advertisements to push their propaganda and fake reviews to the top of the search results. I mean, when was the last time you bothered to look past the first couple pages of search results?
And let me tell you, the complaints are pretty damning. They're notorious for their fake TEFL Teacher Internships abroad, which are really just regular jobs sold to unsuspecting customers at a 50% salary level for 3-6 months with an "internship" label slapped on. And the worst part is, the employers are totally in on it and go along with the deception because they save money on salaries and don't have to provide benefits like medical insurance or paid holiday or overtime to "interns."
It's just a shame that this U.K. group is so devious and dishonest. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
