I ordered foundation from Il Makiage on 10/1/24 on a 14-day trial starting from receipt of the product. The company's terms/conditions state a temp hold is placed on payment method pending approval of the product. I received the product on 10/5/24. The foundation didn't match my skin tone and I requested a new foundation be sent 10/18/24, before the trial period ended.
I haven't received the new foundation as of 10/31/24, but my method of payment (PayPal) was charged $82.27 on 10/24/24 and NOT on a temp hold basis. Internet research shows complaints against this company and statements on Reddit that indicate they are a Scam company.
I have contacted the company and disputed the transaction with PayPal.
Claimed loss: $82.27
Desired outcome: Refund of $82.27. Note that I am happy to pay for the concealer at $31 before tax.

It is frustrating. PayPal denied my request for refund and closed my case within a few hours of it being initiated. PayPal stated that the purchase was consistent with other purchases I've made in the past, which was not my dispute with Il Makiage, as I stated to PayPal. My issue is that the product hasn't been received, which fact PayPal ignored in their response to me.
I have since disabled auto-payments through PayPal and will think twice before using them as a third-party payment processor in the future. I still haven't received the product from Il Makiage, and will contact PayPal by phone if I don't receive the product in the next few days.
It sounds frustrating dealing with the charge before receiving a suitable product. Since you reached out to both Il Makiage and PayPal, keep records of all correspondence to support your claim. Additionally, if the foundation hasn’t arrived, reiterate to Il Makiage that they’re still within the trial period since you haven’t been able to test the replacement. PayPal’s dispute resolution process should help protect your funds if the company doesn’t respond quickly with a solution.
