I had the same thing happen . A company that is with them (Valumax) was taking the same amount out. I called int SVC and they only agreed to remove the current charge not the previous month. they called Valumax while they had me on hold, (to check with a supervisor because I wanted all my money back. when they came back the line they said they could not give me the amount taken out in June, and that they talked with Valumax who will also refund one month. I called valumax and got the run around, however they did say a refund would be processed for the July debit, they admitted that int called them. I went to the BBB online complaint section and filed a complaint. Today I have all of the money back in my account.

I wrote this for DMC customers- the steps are the same.

Here are some steps to take- pass them along!
1. Send a complaint to the State agency that handles these complaints- Attorney General, etc. Send a copy of your complaint form to DMC as well, with a letter that you are attempting to resolve the situation and cancle the membership- cite the decpetiveness and misleading information, and the contact issues. Send these letters with confirmation of delivery from the USPS. THIS CONFIRMATION IS VERY IMPORTANT! This next step is the most important: DEMAND A COPY OF YOUR AGREEMENT. It must be in writing or dictated written form. The dictiation MUST be by a legally authorized individual (ie: court reporter) for the tape to be used as evidence.
2. Call the bank and tell them of the issue; ask to get a different card. If DMC does not have your information, then you cannot be charged. IF they attempt to push the charge by using the new card, then they are commiting larceny or theft and fraud. BE AWARE- your bank cards are usually only 4 numbers different, and a simple 40 line program can be made to scan through the number series in less than 30 seconds when trying to commit fraud.
3. Follow through with your complaints. This means documenting everything.
4. You will get a 'bad credit' letter from a collection agency. Send a copy of everything. DO NOT SEND ORIGIONALS! Dispute the charges and any bad listing on your credit. Save the letter from the debt collector- send a copy to the state agency.
5. Make an offer to settle for one movie, or offer to return the movies you got for immediate resolution of the issue. You must include the 'deceptive and misleading' portion of the complaints. YOU NEED TO BE REASONABLE. YOU GOT YOURSELF HERE. If they cannot produce the required documents, including the origional order, then you have a valid claim for sure.
6. Continue to dispute until they settle. Make noise. Lots of noise. Send copies of complaints to your lawmakers- state representatives, etc. THIS IS HOW LAWS CHANGE! I send a copy to the local news as well- this really brings bad press, and can shut a company down in less than a month. I will and have spent over $50 in mail to save and raise awareness of bad companies, and have activley lead to the termination of over $19, 000 in debt from various collections, etc because they violated the laws. (IL)
7. THE FOLLW THROUGH- We made reservations at Disney in Orlando, then called a month later to cancle based on the problems with the DMC. Less than 2 hours later, they called back and 'resolved' our complaint by canceling the last 3 movies, and even offering a free meal package at the resort.
8. This gets you additional copies of your credit report- take a copy of the complaint, and send them to the credit reporting agencies- make sure DMC is not there.

I had 30 something dollars on my H&R Block card and went to get gas. The gas came up to $32. I ended up having $12 on my card. I heard my recent transactions and it said $19.95 was deposited on 8/3/2009 and all I bought was a cookie from Subway. AIN'T THAT A B***H!

This is ridiculous with the company! I noticed that they took the money a week ago and when I tried calling the first time I sat on hold for 40 minutes. I've tried calling a couple times since then and still haven't gotten through. I just called my credit card company and they told me how to dispute it. Do you guys think it's better to dispute it or send a letter to them demanding to take the charge off? I mean maybe if I was a millionaire I wouldn't mind the $19.95 charge but I'm a college student and need every penny I have. Plus it's not fair to everyone else this is happening to.

Here is how I canceled my "subscription" even though I had never ordered it.

Go to http://www.intelius.com log-in (if you remember) or type your email address and request your password to be reset.

Log into the site

Then follow these instructions:

You can cancel your service anytime, even without a reason. Just go to the Account Management page by clicking the link below:

http://www.intelius.com/manage

Once you're on the Account Management page, just click the Cancel My Service link under Service Status.

Sincerely,
Intelius Customer Service

I hope this helps everyone.

I am sorry to point out to all you people but if you would have read what you "did" sign up for, with the $.95 charge was a, and I will take it this from the right side of the screen where it shows what you ARE signing up for,

Order Summary
1. People Search Report $0.95
Identity Protect Discount. You saved $1.00.
2. Identity Protect Trial $0.00
Total $0.95
You saved $1.00

After your 7 day free trial, if you do not cancel your Identity Protect membership your credit card will be billed $19.95 plus tax where applicable and each month thereafter that you continue your membership. You may cancel anytime.

You DID sign up for the Idenity protect, you failed to take the proper steps in reading what YOU SIGNED up for. now please, take responsiblity for YOUR lack of reading. I have found this site and the deal that YOU signed up for to be legal. I in no way work for this company or anyone a part of it. But I will not stand by and have people bad mouth a LEGAL company offering a LEGAL deal, just becasue you feel that you can blindly click on something and not read what you are signing doesn't make them wrong or illegal. Why don't you go back and read what you signed up for and the PROPER way to get yourself off this list. YOU are going about this the wrong way and YOU need to go back and do the thing you didn't do in the first place...read. This is not the right way to go about this, the credit card company will NOT help you, the "Fraud Department" will not help you, NO law was broken. Please take the right action and drop these "charges" against them and delete your comments.

OK, so people sign up for this--perhaps you may even read that $19.95 will be deducted from your account if you don't cancel. But COME ON - $19.95 is WAY TOO MUCH to get a phone number.
I will say this. BE CAREFUL OF "FREE" PHONE NUMBER SEARCHES. They turn out NOT to be free, sometimes. intelus is a money-grabbing site that give you information you can get in public records.

Everyone’s complaints are legitimate; I filed a complaint with The Sheriff’s department. I called them up and cussed them out and threatened them. They asked me for my name. I told them that they already had my name and credit card number. Again, the whole time I was cussing at them. My bank immediately returned all of my funds because it was on my credit card.

OH YES! SAME THING WITH ME. THESE PEOPLE ARE TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS. I CONTACTED THE BBB TODAY 8/18/2009 AND HOPE TO RECIEVE THE UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES STOLEN FROM MY CHECKING ACCT. I AGREE THAT THESE ###S SHOULD BE STOPPED. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. LIKE PEOPLE ARE NOT HURTING ENOUGH WITH THIS ECONOMY THE WAY IT IS WITHOUT THESE IDIOTS STEALING FROM US. SOMEONE HAS TO STOP THESE PEOPLE. AND I ADVISE ANYONE DEALING WITH THIS SO CALLED COMPANY SHOULD IMMEDIATLY CONTACT THE BBB IN YOUR STATE. SHUT THEM DOWN!

Same charge here, $19.95 just found it today but the charges go back more than 6 months. I signed up for a one time background report with Intellius which cost upwards of $80 and they appeared to be an upstanding legitimate company. I would have never believed they would try something as low as this. Hidden fine print and an ongoing monthly charge without as much as an email or billing statement. If they can justify it as legal, it won't be for long...
