Intoxalock Hand held breathalyzer

I have had the device installed for 5 months now, and as anyone who's had one this long can agree, I have become pretty good at using it and not missing retest or have issues with how to blow in it. After not driving for 2 or 3 days I get in the car and a violation pulls up and gives me a 24 hour count down until it will lock up. I call customer service and they tell me I didn't provide a good sample, then another representative told me it was that I missed a retest, and the 3rd representative I couldn't even understand to speak to. I had looked online and from what I read, I would only see a count down if it was a service lockdown. In that situation I would need to order a new device and have it installed. So I tried once again to call and see if that's what needed to be done, and once again they could not tell me what happened or whether or not I needed to order a new device. They were able to take care of the count down to prevent a lockout, and for that I very much appreciate them. However I still don't know why I received a lockout countdown. I'm very certain I hadn't missed a retest, and I know I hadn't provided a bad sample. As far as I can tell I was given 24 hour lockdown notice for no reason, and my options were pay or be locked out. And no one could tell me how I violated. Seems to me that in situations like this, where they can't tell me why my device gave me a count down to be locked out, they should provide a waiver for the 50 unlock fee and if it happens multiple times replace the device free of charge.

Desired outcome: They should assist me with ordering a new device, and provide a waiver for the fee to unlock the device.

Intoxalock Intoxalock and unjust violations

So I have intoxalock in my car and lately on the restart, after I shut my car off you're supposed to have 3 minutes where you can restart your car without having to blow into the machine.. well I have a minute and 15 seconds or a minute and 20 seconds left on the restart countdown I start my car without having to blow and it violated me and it's done it to me five times already. And each violation costs me $100.00. I finally videotaped it, I had my daughter tape it to show the people I at intoxalock that this machine is not working correctly and whatever print out they're getting is b******* but you know nothing gets resolved so I'm coming to this complaint.com so I can get something done here without having to hire a lawyer and Sue these people just to get refunds.

Every violation I've had except the first 2 (due to hand sanitizer) every other violation is due to faulty equipment and calling intoxalock is useless they're the worst!

Im so glad I have it on tape now so if I'm forced to hire a lawyer, they will pay!

Desired outcome: I want all the money Ive spent on BS violations due to this falty machine equipment refunded..and it's approximately $1,000.00

Intoxalock Device & company

Intoxalock ignition interlock device is absolutely the worst device you can get installed in your car for DUI-DWI. The device will drain the car battery and leave you stranded. By disconnection of device, and re-connecting, you will get faults, and violations reported to your state department of transportation. The device powers off, and constantly needs re-set, re-booting, etc... You will get violations from your state department of transportation that you need to start all over again, and you will lose 30 days, getting months added to your infraction constantly. Oh, trying to get in touch with Intoxalock to talk to customer service is absolutely the worse company ever, you are lucky to talk to someone after calling nearly 10 different phone numbers. Once you get someone, they will not do anything for you, because there device is the worst on the market, due to the report is sent directly to your state department of transportation, good luck appealing the violation with them, due to a terrible device, and wrongful violations. Good luck. I would not recommend putting this device in your car unless you want to spend lots of money month-to-month, service fees, re-booting fees, maintenance fees and have additional months added to your state DUI-DWI infraction.

Intoxalock Horrible customer service

This company is the absolute worst. I would not recommend them to anyone that needs this kind of device. Stay far far away. I was only supposed to have for 7 months. I went for my final calibration and it took them almost 2 MONTHS to get me my compliance papers when they tell you 3-5 DAYS. That was with calling them constantly. It will be a few weeks shy of a year by the time I have this removed. All they want is money and yes they take it and keep taking it. I made a mistake and did everything I was supposed to do but this company doesn’t do what they are supposed to do. Worst customer service and very rude people.

Desired outcome: Do better. Stop treating people horribly and do the job you are supposed to do. They are quick with having devices put in but slow with helping people have them removed.

Intoxalock Wrongful lockout fees/ untrained supervisors

They are giving people faulty machines and then charge $75 lockout fees. Their. colleagues will inform you that all is well but the company quietly charged your account. If you don’t check your portal activity, you will miss the charges. If you call them, they will tell you it’s your fault which I assume looking at all the negative reviews, they are flat out liars and scammers. First lockout on 10/24/22 and another on 12/22/22. They told probation that on 10/22/22 the machine read a positive and today the supervisor told me that it was a sample provision, see how they lie. 2 statements and probation recorded that false reading that actually read negative within 3 minutes after.

Desired outcome: I need my refund for 76x2 or machine removed by end of the week.

Intoxalock Device

I was told that I needed to go to a service center for an inspection if I disbuted the lock out I had received from the device screwing up in negative degree weather. I was also told that if it came back that I did not tamper with the vehicle I would be reimbursed. I was also told by two supervisors that I would have a good faith credit reimbursement because my claim was denied.

The service center said they didn't see any evidence of tampering and even called to customer service, I didn't do anything to the device or vehicle. I submitted my receipt and was denied payment. I spoke to many customer service reps and a few "supervisors" and was hung up on twice when I asked them to explain what would cause an unauthorized start when properly submitting a sample and my timer had not run out.

Also, I have looked on the website and, on the internet, seeking answers to why I was misled and stolen from. I refuse to pay for a device mistake! I have contacted the attorney general and am going to seek further help on how to bring this problem to light in any way necessary.

Desired outcome: I just want my money back that I paid to the service center. You guys have already reimbursed me for the lock out because I did nothing wrong!

Intoxalock IID car breathalyzer

I have had trouble with this thing from the very start. On day one, I was to be getting the installation process done at Charleston Auto Repair in West Ashley, SC. I arrived on time for my appointment which was 8:45am and stayed within the area for the install because I couldn’t find a ride. About 3 hours pass by and I returned to check on the status. The owner at first told me that I needed another battery for him to finish and at the time all I had on me was the cost of the install… $125. So I started calling around to borrow money because I didn’t want my day going to waste. I went inside to ask a question that my father wanted to know and the owner said “We found a way to bypass it…” so I hung up and began the wait once more. Next the mechanic came in and said that I needed a new handheld and the owner got on the phone with intoxalock to order a new one. Back to waiting again… finally about a hour later the mechanic entered once more and started to whisper to the owner to where I couldn’t understand what was going on. Then after 5 and a half hours. I was told that they couldn’t do the install and that they were taking it off. With no explanation. Only to find out later that I was charged for a “no show” and was being sent back to them?! Eh… NO! Find me another service center. They had it on in close to 45 mins. But this thing is hay wire! It gives me a lockout because of me not being used to it and only having it for one day, I try and start the car without blowing? That cost another days pay and $45 service fee. A week later I hear a high pitch beeping and didn’t know what it was. The following morning I stopped to get gas and was stuck there for 3 and a half hours because my car wouldn’t start and I wasn’t under a lockout. I call customer service and try to get some kind of help. After fighting with the automated system for a hour I finally get someone. She has me unhook my negative off my battery then click over and leave me on hold for like 5 mins and then clicks back over and says to put it back on. Next unplug the hand unit 8 times with the last one you tighten the screws to the handheld. I do this same thing three additional times and was told to get me vehicle towed. Next my car was on a four day countdown to a lockout and I couldn’t get serviced because of it being Christmas time and no service centers were open. This thing has asked me to blow I guess when I got out of my car after I waited for a retest and next thing I know is that my car alarm is going off and no one was in it! This has been nothing but a hassle and now I have to worry about points with Probation and my license being suspended and more classes to take because of your faulty equipment? I would like for this to be handled correctly and in a timely manner or Im going to start talking to lawyers because this is not right! There are enough reviews on here to show that its not the vehicle operator, and that its the faulty equipment that is constantly being handled out, time and time again. Im sure that a judge can see all this as well!

Desired outcome: A full refund of everything that has to do with the IID, to include monthly fees, service fees, lockout fees, and the install fee. Its only been a month and all this has already happened. What’s next?

Intoxalock Lack of training leads to fees

There is no training (confirmed by the istaller/s) and client is left to learn by failing forward to a tune of not only an inappropriate "fee" but a life inconvenience to got to the dealer to get the product corrected. SCAM IMO.

If trained on how to avoid first time user lock out fee "scenarios" in person, by a human. It would be reasonable & ok..

Desired outcome: Would like $60 (charge back fee which should only be $30). Would like the November " lock out fee" reversed. As, 1) the manual, video or non-existent in person training informed the client .

I received a LOCKOUT fee that is not justified.

On page 4 of the manual re: Section 2.5 - Turning off the Vehicle Steps 1, 2 and 3 - specifically step 3 says - YOU MAY EXIT THE VEHICLE as soon as you see the COUNT DOWN apper. YOU DO NOT need to wait for it to EXPIRE.

The count down starts "immediately" there is NO WAY that a TEST can BE asked.

I had a device installed when setting it up my card didn’t work so my sister helped me out I put money in her account and she let me use card. Discussed changing card before next payment due. So had equipment installed Ott’s auto phoenixville pa. I had it arranged to get car dropped off on Wednesday night appointment Thursday am 8am told two hours to install. So I changed work schedule and took second shift , the car didn’t get done till 4pm, so I missed my shift at work. This was no fault on me at all. Next I got car home parked next day follow instructions “tester reads sample not accepted try again” tried calling tried everything possible to get it to work told to return it to Otts, so now I missed work again. Next day I try it out before getting it towed it works start car take it to get gas mileage away test me again while driving, won’t except sample and I try again and again til time runs out and it says lockout. So I park call you they say I need to bring to Otts and pay 75.00 to reset. Don’t see how this is fair, but I have no choice, so next day I try to see start same problem won’t except sample after several times lockout again. Work miss again. Call garage call interlock stup time to get it fixed of course no openings for three days, now car won’t start for three day s loose job. Now I have to get it removed can’t pay for it. I get it towed and get device removed, I was totally screwed. I had to pay to get it removed after paying 300 to get installed. So before I even have chance to change card from sisters account, you charge me another 279.00 even though I did nothing wrong your machine was not working and cost me my job. This charge was never discussed or authorized at that date or time. So it was taken out of account and cause a bunch of overdrafts. So I said send me a bill but that money needed to be returned to that account, they intaxalock after hours of phone calls I get no help and no apology for this product costing me hundreds of dollars tons of headache and my job.

Intoxalock Intoxalock is destroying my vehicle

From day one of having this device installed I have had nothing but problems. First thing that happened was periodically it wouldn't allow my car to start after properly blowing into it. One day it worked them the next day it didn't. Once that issue was fixed my starter went out. Put a new starter in. A couple weeks after that my alternator went out. Put in new alternator and new battery. All of this happened within a span of 3 months. Today, my battery and alternator both drained completely on a 50 mile drive home. I barely made it to my driveway before it completely died. The symptoms the car was having today were the exact same symptoms it had before replacing the alternator and battery. There's no reason for my car to show symptoms of a dead alternator and battery when they are brand new! So right now I have a car broke down in my driveway and no way to get to work, and it's all because of this stupid device. My car was fine before and now even when I fix what gets broken, it just breaks again because intoxalock is a piece of crap! I've probably spent close to $2000.00 repairing the damage caused by this thing with towing expenses and all. I'm tired of paying for stuff that this device breaks. I need something done ASAP and I need to be reimbursed for what I've had to repair so far. It's unacceptable and I want something done now.

Desired outcome: I need my car fixed now and I don't have any more money to keep fixing it. I also want reimbursed for what I have fixed!

Intoxalock Please replace the device and if not cancel my agreement.

I had the interlock device installed last Sunday 12/18/2022. I have tried every day (roughly 150 times) since then to blow-suck-blow to enable the car to start. I succeeded only once last Tuesday and again once on Thursday. I must have a bad device. I've watched YouTube videos on how to perform this simple task.

On the second successful start on Thursday, I waited for the retest, and couldn't pass. LOCKOUT.

I spent the next hour undoing the $75 fee.

It took me forever to get the hang of it. I recently learned there's another way to blow in it other than blow, suck, blow. Blow in it for about 2 secs and in the same breath start humming while blowing. My service center showed that to me. They started allowing that kind of breath test when COVID happened.

They are liars, don’t waste your time with this company. I’ve dealt with them for the past years and they will use lockouts (faulty machines) to make you pay extra and assume it is your responsibility. Supervisors are worst because they’re unprofessional and rude. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Intoxalock Intoxalock IID device

Ruined 2 batteries. Left me stranded in freezing weather at both Seabury school (where I work) and Target in Gig Harbor because it drained my batter. Told me to “ remove the negative cable from my battery” I was at work. Two different men did not know how to do this. Stop charging me fees for your machine’s malfunctions. I’m close to losing my job because I never know when my car will start.

Desired outcome: Refunds for violations that were not my fault. $ 91x2. A new battery and fix your machine so it doesn’t ruin a third one. I could lose my job over this. Not to mention wrecking because of the stress.Angela Kuttler-Sabo. [protected]

Intoxalock Cold weather danger

I work out of town until 230am, I unplugged my device and brought it inside. I went to plug it in after work to start my vehicle and sync came up on the device and I couldn't start my vehicle. Customer service was no help and keep in mind I live in north Dakota and it was 40 below wind chill at the time and had to start walking but fortunately a car picked me while I was walking home, I did start showing signs of hypothermia as I also have 1st responder training and know the signs. I feel like my life is in danger because of their own equipment failures

Desired outcome: Removal or help

Intoxalock Ignition interlock device

12/20/2022 $75.00 reset charge for their errors.

I was put on a "Lockout" notice for no fault of my own. I was advised through a notification on their App to unplug handset and bring it inside during cold months to avoid a long "warm up" time.

Today, shortly after starting car I'm notified through the handset of a violation. Once I reached my destination I called Intoxalock and explained this to agent. He told me I would not be charged for a "Reset". Resets are $75.00.

I am being charged this $75.00. When I escalated call to the supervisor, she told me that in the device lease it says to NOT have keys in ignition when plugging device in. I asked her to point out where in the device lease this is mentioned. She was unable and unwilling to do so.

To add to that, I received a notice in the app a few weeks ago advising customers in cold climates to unplug device and bring it indoors in cold weather. Nowhere in this notification were there any special instructions related to keys in ignition when plugging in machine.

So basically they are screwing me for $75.00 for Christmas.

Not to mention the battery issues I have had since having this installed. Brand new battery 2/1/2022. I have had to charge and jumpstart car multiple times. Battery has been checked and is ok.

Screwed out of 75$ just in time for Santa.

Desired outcome: $75.00 credit for Lockout

Any removal even with Their instructions is an automatic lockout. This company answers to no one so they charge whatever and get away with it. You may get 1 credit for lockout but you ALWAYS pay them for recalibration. I was told the service center only gets paid for install and removal. Feel free to ask the next time you go in.

Words of wisdom - NEVER SIGN UP WITH CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD! Once they take money - it is gone and they seldom inform you!

Intoxalock Account deactivation and compliance notification

I had my device removed on 12/14/22. I had authorization to do so and got my de installation certificate. They told me the state would be notified in 2 business days, which would have been Friday 12/16/22. I called today and they said it still hasn’t been done and they should have it done by the end of the day. Then I was told to deactivate my account they would have to receive my equipment first even though the service center removed it and mailed it back already. As far as I’m concerned it’s now the service centers responsibility and liability. Anyway they just told me after 10 more calls that my account was closed and the app would reflect that. It still shows active. Also I had to email compliance to have roadside assistance cancelled because they said that was a third party company. They billed me for roadside assistance on 12/13/22 for a fee that said due on 12/20/22 and took it out of my account. Lastly they owe me a refund and keep saying accounting has been notified and it would take one day . I’m still waiting on the refund a week later. Every time I call they say that it’s a different department’s responsibility. They were paid in full a month ago and got all the necessary paperwork. It shouldn’t be this much trouble to get them to do what they have been paid to do and are required by the state to do. I’m fed up . This is ridiculous. I keep getting passed around and no results. This company is a joke. Don’t use them they are irresponsible, negligent and bordering on outright fraud. I’m getting ready to call the better business bureau and contact an attorney.

Desired outcome: Deactivate and close my account. Notify the state of compliance and successful completion of my requirements and get my refund applied back to my credit card.

I would call weekly, emailed documents required, faxed also, was told several times would escalate my case, still no email… now it’s a month later, and forced to renew my lease a 2nd time while I wait…. Intoxalock Removal

My ASAP case manager has sent them confirmation twice and called personally once to inform Intoxalock that I have completed my legal obligations and have permission for removal. But they refuse to remove the device saying it hasn't been received and reviewed by their people. Even DMV has already sent my new license through the mail and is already in my wallet. This company is horrible. Find some other company to use if you want to deal with professionals. These people are anything but!

Desired outcome: Get your act together. Get this device out of my car.

Intoxalock Product service and hidden fees

I have had this device in for nearly 4 months.

I should have known from day 1 I would have issue with this company. First of all, they would not send my contract to the state DMV so that I could get my diving privileges back, I had to show the state proof of my attempts to get them to send I just ended up faxing my proofs and my contract and it took an extra 2 weeks, but they accepted it.

next

Not only did the device malfunction I was charged 5 times the lock out fees for this.

I was charged biweekly for a sleeve I did not want nor received, and insurance I do not need as I have full coverage. each time the device malfunctions I get charged a fee.

A few weeks ago, it was determined that the wires in the device had come loose and was charged for the repairs. I was told to take the vehicle down to have the entire device replaced and after taking a day off from work and showing up per the instructions. The location was never contacted by Intoxalock nor did they have my replacement equipment available.

The solution was for me to drive 60 miles one way to have the change out done at another location. After I was just over billed by $200.00 and that will be 2 days off of work at my expense.

This is absolutely the worst company ever. I have called daily for now a month for a resolution to no avail. I am highly considering getting a lawyer because now my overbilling and fees have risen over the 500.00 mark.
