-$200+ cost into the job with no diagnosis - No communication - Having me purchase replacement components on a guess. Read on if you want the details.

First, I am an experienced user, and I accept that sometimes bad stuff just happens to electronics. That said, this deals with the absolutely unprofessional manner of my interaction. My Dell PC quietly quit. Called Karl's, set up service. Tech on time/ polite. After about 2 hours he said I needed a new power supply (PS). We looked on internet, found compatible replacement. I paid $200 + for first visit (plus my cost for PS $125). One week later tech shows up, after about 40 minutes says new PS is not powering the PC. He's not sure what's going on, all other components look good (no burn on boards). With the tech I look up power supply issues, see the Dell PS has built in self check (I found info after 30 secs of search on my ipad). I plug in existing PS and self check shows it is functional. Tech says he's stumped, this appointment will not be charged because he was mistaken on PS. Said give him 2 days, he'll research problem and confer with team and call me back. This is on Monday. On SATURDAY I call Karl's and ask what is up (no call, text, email had been received). I ask to speak with a supervisor, the person takes a complaint and sends it to their complaint Dept. After call I remembered they had a site to check repair status, I looked up my case and saw the ticket had been closed the Monday of the 2nd visit. About 12:00 pm on following Monday (2 weeks after initial appointment) I receive an email from complaint dept. saying the ticket was closed because the repair was deemed to be excessive due to Dell's proprietary parts (they guessed mother board). Again, I was prepared for a total loss to be a possible outcome, bad things happen. But $200+ cost into the job with no diagnosis, no communication, having me purchase replacement components on a guess, this is not the way a professional company does business.

Recommendation: Shop around, find a fixed site repair shop.

Don't let them off the hook. Demand accountability and a refund for the time and money wasted. Contact them again, and insist on speaking to someone with authority. Make it clear that their guesswork and lack of communication are unacceptable. If they still won't resolve the issue, take your experience public on social media and tech forums to warn others. Your time and money are valuable, and they need to know that you won't tolerate subpar service. Stand your ground and push for the resolution you deserve.
