This is from my experience seeing a doctor on 4 March and 4 April. I got a referral to KKH as during my corporate health screening, a mass of 6cm was found at my right ovary. For the first appointment at KKH on 4 March, I was assigned to Mr Mok Zhun Wei. Keep in mind I was worried as I was someone who had severe cramps since my period started, so bad such...

I have registered my queue appointment via the message sent via sms. Despite making an appointment 1hr in addvanced while making my way to the hospital. I had to continue waiting for my turn and its already 10.54 am now. I understand there's 6 patient ahead when i registered at 9.06am . Now at 10.54am, there is still 3 ahead of me. I dun understand why the consultation is so long. Its quite fustrating as we also have plans for work and meeting.. And this is not the first time. Is either the doctor dont know how to manage time or the nurse is delaying the process.
Claimed loss: Lost of time. Time is money!
Desired outcome: I would like an explanation and compensation.

Gynaecologist
I was hospitalised for a day due to constant bleeding of my menses, unable to focus properly and was told to do a urine test with my heavy period. The nurse wanted a mid stream urine sample and she waited outside when she knows that I m giddy thus I washed my bag instead of my hand. My two iphone was immersed with water in my bag, I am clueless why would they want a blood urine sample when this is my cause of seeking treatment, this does not make sense. Admitted for a day, saw a male gynae for less than 15 mins.. Was advised to take out my womb and do a biopsy. Little did I expect that this young resident doctor did all by herself using a big clamper to pull my cell inside my vagina, I have not recovered ever since then.. I was constantly in depression and having anxiety attack. This will greatly affect my marriage life and the phobia all vagina like pap smear..
Claimed loss: Mentally and physically, 2 iPhone totally unusable due to the obsession of urine test despite by explanation.
Desired outcome: Compensation for my depression arouse and my two iPhone which was repaired ! The breakdown and a run down experience of this resident doctor who ignored my plead to stop and coerced me to sign the agreement form.
Unprofessional and poor service
I visited kkh on 13/10/23 at 10am plus for my appointment, As this was the first time I am visiting, I didn't know how everything works. In room 18 there was 2 staff both super rude and unhelpful. I was told to take bp, height and weight but no proper instruction were given. They were talking to each other when they were supposed to guide me. All the time...

Hi dear,
I am a pregnant patient who is staying at ward 32. The ward's shower toilet was never cleaned before look at the walls and floor full of algae and while showering worms came out and I nearly slipped and fall back. How come non of you looked into your world class hospital toilet cleanliness? Are you guys waiting for a pregnant lady to fall and die? Where is your cleaning schedule? No FM team to follow up?
Desired outcome: Toilets and it's hygiene level needs to be maintained. Patients are paying for their stay
Dr Geetha V
Very rude doctor, came in to get a check up referral for severe dysmenorrhea. Appointment stated 1640hrs understandable there’s a queue system and I was the last to be called up. I was already not confident when the clock shows 5.45pm and slowly the nurses around the clinic walkout with changed clothes and my guts is telling me this doctor is going to rush her last patient consultation and the person is me! Went in and was denied explanation of my condition and my feelings about my body. Stated that I should eat Panadol as and when the pain comes even if it’s for the rest of my life. My experience to private clinic doctors were more thoughtful and careful with choice of diagnosis and this was my first time hearing a doctor advising me as such. So I had wasted my time waiting and this is what an overseas Ireland graduate doctor can advise me? I came to your clinic with hope there should be something done what makes you think I would come back to proceed with the rest of your arrogant consultation. Never going back and for sure will missed the next appointment check up. I would rather pay someone other doctor who’s passionate in helping women understand their body and love the job their job, than coming back to get consulted by a miserable doctor like her.
Desired outcome: Send my complaint straight to her email and have her read it and have management re-access her working etiquette.

My kid, 2 years old got tested covid19 positive since Tue (19 July 2022) at family clinic and she got high fever 39 C at night. So, I took her to KK hospital children emergency about 9pm. So my kid got continuous 4 days having a high fever 39 to 40 C, the doctor not allow my kid to monitor in hospital and no diagnosis report. What I got is a bill after bill.

Follow up on child wound review
My son Tan Jun Hao Aiden (7621047087J) after having excision biopsy of right cervical lymph nodes operation on 15/12/21, was discharged on 17/12/21 at 11:30 am.
I had been waiting for the wound review appointment that the nurse said they were message my wife or me the appointment time. The date was written on a form on 20/12/21 and requesting doctor is Dr Rambha.
Today (20/12/21) I have called the hotline 62944050 for enquirer and the operator said will check and get back to me. I have made a second call but still no response from the center.
Please be responsible for making a promise. At lease sent me a message or call me the outcome don't let me keep on waiting like a idiot
Very sad to have this type of service. Wasting my leave and also no further advise.
Change or ward
My child went to a&e on 10/9 7pm and was admitted to isolation ward past 1am dates 11/09. Isolation ward was okay. Then were transfered to normal ward, however to my surprised, they put me in c class ward w/o my consent.. I have called the general hotline & they mentioned staff should have advised me properly and assigned me to class a or b according to my preference.. But in dissappointment we were directed to class c, where its inconvinence for me to travel outside visitor toilet. I expect good experience as my child went through a roller coaster ride at a&e where staffs are mostly trainee and not gentle.. It has been a traumatised series of events. When we reached class c, toilet was not good condition, plus we were remanded not to close the curtain when sleep. Which part of the hospital policy that we are not allowed to close curtain while sleeping. Again, our privacy as a patient and caregiver at the lowest. My child couldnt sleep with the brightness in e surrounding. My voice to be changed to a better ward was not entertained. I pay for a service which should at least offer empathy..
Desired outcome: Requested ward A or B
Feedback on unsatisfactory hospital practice and poor communication
The incident happened on 24th June when I brought my daughter to KKH's A&E department. My daughter had puffy eyes since 19th June and I was concerned that it could be attributable to an earlier accident on 3rd June in which my family called an ambulance when she fell from her cot bed face-down and suffered bleeding from her mouth, bruises to the sides of her nose bridge and inner corner of her left eye.
The doctor-in-charge ruled out the possibility of the linkage to the earlier event on 3rd June as the incident took place a while ago and suspected the eye puffiness could be due to viral infection, allergy or kidney problems. To ascertain if my daughter had kidney problems, the doctor suggested to place a urinary bag to collect the urine. Based on previous visits to KKH, I told her that we usually collect mid-stream urine as it gives a more accurate result. She agreed and questioned if my daughter will be peeing in the washroom. I was surprised at her question as we were usually allocated a bed for the mid-stream urine collection of my child. After communicating with her, she arranged my daughter and I to the bed section.
Till then, my daughter's diaper was filled with urine when we took off her diaper for cleaning purposes. I was feeding her with water and hope that she manages to urinate. However, my child refused to urinate and kept saying she wanted to go home. I continued to persuade my daughter but she kept insisting that she wanted to go home.
I then suggested to the nurse that since my daughter refused to urinate, it would be easier for her to pee at home as she is a shy girl and does not allow strangers to remove her pants or change her diaper. We were offered this option previously at KKH with 2 sterile bottles for urine collection at home. However, the doctor told us that the mid-stream urine collection cannot be done at home as the test of protein in urine and the test of urinary tract infection (UTI) are different. I have previously worked in a private research organization of renal disease and personally find this explanation absurd.
I explained to the doctor that I needed to bring my daughter, wife and helper to lunch. Only one child patient and accompanying adult are allowed to enter the F&B premises. Although my wife was 37 weeks pregnant, she was still declined entry along with my helper due to possible safe distancing procedures enforced by the hospital. I highlighted to the doctor that my wife and helper could not have lunch in the hospital and then she suggested to attach an urinary bag on my daughter's bottom and told me to bring them to go lunch and come back after the urine is collected. Since I have previously mentioned to her that my wife and helper were unable to enter the F&B premises, I interpreted that we were allowed to go out to have lunch with the urinary bag placement and come back to KKH afterwards.
As the nurse on duty adheres the urinary bag on my daughter, I asked the nurse on the time that I needed to be back to KKH. She answered that we can come back any time after she urinates in the bag. She then instructed me to remove the bag after urine collection and pour the urine into the sterile bottle provided. She also mentioned that if I find it difficult to pour the urine from the bag to the sterile bottle, I could always approach the nurses for assistance.
In view of the above, I went back to my house which is just around 10 mins drive from the hospital. About 10 mins after my family and I reached home, we noticed that my daughter had urinated but her urine was not collected in the bag. Instead, the urinary bag was detached and the diaper was soaked with her urine.
In response to this, we planned to call the hospital to check on the next course of actions, whether we are able to collect her mid-stream urine directly or if we need to drive back to the hospital for the reattachment of the urinary bag. At this time, the doctor then called to check on the status of urine collection of my daughter. I told the doctor that the attached bag had failed to collect the urine and my daughter's diaper was soaked. She then asked me on my location and I told her that I was at home. She mentioned she will call me back later.
The second call came few minutes later and the same doctor told me she needed to close the case and we need re-register at the hospital again if we are sending our daughter back. I was shocked and asked if we can collect the mid-stream urine and send back to the hospital. She said we can do so but she might want to re-collect the urine again as it might be inaccurate because this urine collection is to test for protein but not for urinary tract infection. I asked for the difference between the methods of urine collection of protein test versus UTI test. She didn't address my question and told me that the environment is different at home and in hospital. I expressed again that this was not the first time that we could collect mid-stream urine at home. We have tried once in KKH and another time in Queenstown polyclinic.
I also reiterated to the doctor that I was not informed that I can't leave the hospital. If I could not leave the hospital, how can my pregnant wife, helper and daughter have lunch when two of them are refused entry into the F&B premise? The doctor claimed that she has explicitly told me that we are not able to exit the hospital premise but I seriously did not receive the message from her. If I know that I cannot leave the hospital, I would not have informed the doctor that I was at home as the distance from my home to hospital is just a 10 mins drive. I could have alternatively told her that I am somewhere in the hospital and I am going back to the A&E department when she called me. However, she still insisted that she has communicated to me explicitly when I seriously did not receive her message.
The doctor then insisted we have to collect my daughter's urine within the hospital premises and emphasized that she needed to close the case and we need to register again even if we choose to forgo lunch and send our daughter back to KKH immediately. I was utterly displeased with her answer and asked her what's the reason of re-registering our child if we manage drive back to the hospital immediately. She then mentioned it was the practice of the hospital and it was the emergency department.
I was utterly disappointed in her answer and do not want to probe further. I do not understand why there were inconsistencies in the practices of KKH on urine collection and the need for re-registration when we said we could drive back to the hospital immediately within 10 mins. The nurse on duty also advised we could come back any time my daughter urinates in the bag. No one has mentioned the need for re-registration and the incurrence of double A&E fees. And what is disappointing is that previously we were given sterile bottles for urine collection from KKH as well but this time, we were told we needed to re-register.
After the unpleasant event, my family and I decided to bring my daughter to another hospital for a second opinion. We hope that you could look in this matter and provide us a refund in KKH's A&E fees as the investigation and diagnosis was not completed.

bad service
It was my first pregnancy and i choose kkh as my hospital to labour. Starting everything went smoothly im so happy with you staff. But towards the end on my 38 weeks pregnant i often came to the delivery suite due to as i mention earlier on so i don know what a contraction felt. I went up and down the suite for more than 3 times all 3 times is false alarm as the doc also check that my curvix is not open yet. So ok i might be making a mistakes on that. Than when i went for check up the doc explains to me that i will be feeling very painful and all coming to one. On 21/12/2019, i felt that pain its starting from my back to the front. At almost 3 -3.30 am its just so hard for me to sleep as the pain becoming so painful. So my husband called the ambulance as i cant walk at all. It was so so painful until i feel so heavy to walk. When i reach the delivery suite the nurse who registered me told me to MOVE FROM THE STRECTER TO THE BED. The one who help me was the ambulance medic. The nurse just watch and instruct here and there. Ok so maybe its your procedure. So i dont't wanna bother much. The nurse Avryl Teo doesnt even help me or being nice just ask me to lift up my leg. She can even say that "im just letting you know that since your curvix have not open yet its might as well later you can go home". Me i was like... Wth?! So again i just don bother than there another flipino nurse came her name was 'April'. She came and ask the rating of my pain. As i was lying down on the bed i heard a sound which i heard it is annoying so ask the flipino nurse whether can that sound be turn off. So the way she answer sound agitated when i saw her unhappy face and voice i quickly apologise. So after a while i lie down i feel my pain came back but this time it happen on my back and it was very2 painful. The waiting of the doctor takes too much time so i press the emergency button. When i press that the flipino nurse came and i said to her that i was so much pain and is the doctor here yet to check on me. Her answer was "My dear you have to wait the doctor is..." Let me as you this. If you are in so much pain will you want to hear anymore excuses?! Im so so much pain. So the doctor came in and said that since im in so much pain the most the doctor can do is give an INJECTION for pain killer... What is this? Are you people really serious? And the doctor said if i'm still in pain i can warded but only 1 day! I need explanation on this
Charging private rates to subsidized patients (Cleverly changing to private before surgery and before room is allocated)
A) asking for private room class selection prior to surgery opportunistic.
B) Showing pictures of rooms only to make it look like private room selection.
C)Even after such private room payment the room is not ready before surgery. Which goes on to indicate that surgery and room selection is seperate process and cost anyway.
D)Charging private rate for surgery when we did not choose the doctor and just used on duty doctor.
E) Charging to my medisave even when i have called and informed the billing dispute on the first day of admission itself F) obstructing in my communication and reversal of bill request with cpf.
