Loss of personal belongings.
On February 7, 2024, I was airlifted from Valley View in Fort Mohave to Sunrise Medical Center. At that time I was sedated, on a ventilator and critical. When I was intubated, they removed my dentures at Valley View. Upon arriving at Sunrise, the air ambulance told me that Sunrise signed for my belongings, which were two cell phones, one charger and my...

Sunrise Hospital is the worst hospital I have ever seen! I was transported to Sunrise Hospital on September 11 at 3:26am from another hospital because they wanted me to get an MRI because they suspected I had a TIA which is also called a mini-stroke sometimes. I had to sit in the waiting room with 80 or more sick and vomiting people for 26 or 28 hours before I had my MRI and got a room! A girl I spoke to had been waiting 36 hours with chest pain! Long story short, it took me 3 days to get my MRI and talk to a doctor!
This hospital needs to be shut down!
Type 1 diabetic patient was refused insulin for 11 hours!
My husband is a type 1 diabetic and was admitted to Sunrise Hospital for a stroke on July 23rd. On the night of July 24th, he was medically neglected by the night staff from 11:25pm-10:25am when they refused to give him insulin. This action sent him into full blown Ketoacidosis and he was vomiting and begging for insulin for 11 hours and was continually...

Quality of care and threats made to family members and neglect of elderly stroke patient
On Friday November 11 my 90 year old father was brought in through the er by ambulance for a stroke and infection. They proceeded to run blood tests on him then neglected him the rest of the evening. When I got there I noticed that he was laying in his own urine and his Iv had burst and he was bleeding all over himself and the bed. I politely informed a doctor who’s tag said student and he went and told a nurse. The nurses then ignored our request to have him cleaned up and have his iv fixed. An hour went by and we asked the same student doctor. He again went and informed the nurse. Again we were ignored. 30 minutes later the same doctor told a male and female nurse right in front of me. They were chatting and giggling and again ignored us and my father. I then made. Comment TO MY FATHER that hopefully soon they will care about his care. The male nurse overheard me and proceeded to come over threw my fathers arm up vigorously and tell me it was all dried blood now and no big deal (because it had sat there for so long) he then got in my face screamed at me said derogatory remarks to me made a huge scene in front of all those patients threatened me and had me physically removed from my father by security (or so he threatened) all because I didn’t want my elderly father to lay in his own filth.at one point in told him to back off because as a female I felt physically threatened. I’ve never seen such unprofessionalism in my life nor have I ever been so disrespected. That male nurse has no business in healthcare treating a stray dog let alone sick people. Then to seperate me from my father when he had a possible stroke is just unfathomable. I will be taking this complaint to the bbb and my attorney. How patients are treated here.
I am a patient at this very moment, it is 1:45 in the am and I can't get anyone to turn out the lights so I can get some sleep. This afternoon my pure wick kept leaking into the bed and the woman who was supposed to change the bedding came by into the room screaming at me that is wasn't her fault! I just wanted it fixed and to not be lying in pee but she just kept on yelling at me till someone finally came in and changed the bed. It wasn't fixed so a few hours later it leaked again. I'm not sure if it's ok now or not since Im afraid to go. They keep coming in for a bp every few minutes and won't stop trying to give me additional medication that I don't want. Now they are trying to draw blood, at this hour, when I check out tomorrow. Actually went so far as to say they wouldn't release me without it! I'm not a pincushion for training the lab every night, cause it is obvious they have no idea what they're doing. This high handed treatment is bullying and I won't have it! You need to train your staff with respect and a least a little bit of brains to deal with the public and especially the patients they are supposed to be helping, not hurting. It's been Halloween 2022 for two hours now and I'm still awake because of this staffs incompetence.

Desired outcome: These people need to be supervised and trained. If they don't like their jobs then they need to be fired and look for work elsewhere in another profession.
nurses

I was given a he wrong wheelchair
My initial wheelchair was accepted into Sunrise hospital on Sept 16th as part of my belongings and tagged with my name on it. On Sept 19th a wheelchair was returned to me at my room and the day I would be discharged. The wheelchair is the same make and brand but it isn't mine that I received from Caremax medical supply and equipment. It is to belong to a Direct supply and their patient. So I'm wondering if there patient has my wheelchair? Any help in prompt response to this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Service/nurses
My daughter is hospitalized in this hospital, the nurses ignore the buzzer, my daughter pushed the buzzer several times in 2 hours and also peed the bed, she was stitting in her urine and Noone came. Her iv was hurting her because it was in the wrong position and blood coming out of her arm Noone came still. This hospital is terrible the experience my daughter is having in this hospital is unprofessional, the iv in her arm was finally put back in her arm after two hours. If I had the option to I would give them a solid ZERO! My daughter is on a heart monitor and oxegen and They take their time going to patients room and we're very rude to her. They don't seem to be interested in doing their jobs! Patient care should come first!
Case Manager / Social Worker / Doctor
I have asked for case manager, doctor, social worker to contact me in reference to my grandmother’s stay in Sunrise Hospital room 4611. They have failed to contact me. Now they are trying to discharge my grandmother to a group home, but she has an open wound on her hip and needs consistent medical care and medicine monitoring. She is unable to stay in homes of family because we work and she needs consistent care.
Desired outcome: Grandmother needs to be sent to long term skilled nursing facility. She needs to be enrolled in emergency medicaid.
Mistreatment overlooked nurse using scare tactics
My mother came there 1-6-2022 was admitted for a week and discharge after told she had pneumonia gave her oxygen and antibiotics she layed in the bed for a month before we took her back [protected] admitted and was told she has stage 4 cancer collapse lung. Lead nurse her names cory on 5th floor told her to go to hospice used scare tactics can't stay forever
Desired outcome: Shouldn't be able to work there no manners or compassion for people's life's or there families life's getting flipped upside down
Biased, unfair and impartial staff.
On Jan 30, 2022, at around 1:30 pm, I walked in with my daughter and her mom because my daughter's arm was swollen. Upon entering the facilities, security told us that only one parent was allowed inside. I then asked if I could speak to the person in charge, and he directed me to RN Robin. I talked to RN Robin and asked if I could alternate with mom, and she immediately became agitated and defensive. Robin said she would ask mom, but she didn’t guarantee anything and to call in 5 minutes. So I did, and she was aggravated at this point because I was being persistent. I couldn’t understand why until I mentioned a court order stating my parental rights. I told her that we shared 50/50 custody and that there has been CPS involvement against mom. She then stated that one parent is allowed per policy. She immediately became more aggressive because I asked her if the policy overruled the court order. I then said that if I couldn’t alternate that I would prefer to take my daughter to UMC. She then said, “you're not going to threaten me” aggressively. I said that was no threat but a preference. Robin said, my Director Zimmerman is here, and you can speak to him. That’s when I knew that Robin was being biased. When I talked to the director and explained my situation, he reluctantly wanted help and was not fair and impartial but knew that I was exercising my parental rights.
Dads have rights and they shouldn’t be pushed away because of someone views. Any court order documentation is available upon request.
Desired outcome: Coaching and a written apology.
Neurological care
My family member, Lee Yanello, was admitted to the hospital through the ER on 7/18/21 due to being assaulted and had brain bleeds and a fractured skull, which resulted in a TBI. He was visiting family in Las Vegas and is from Illinois. He got good care in ICU, but once transferred to the neuro floor, he did not receive good care. He went nearly 2 weeks with no bath/shower, his family never had contact with a neurologist, the floor in the room was so sticky, that the family members shoes were sticking to the floor. Lee is a fall risk and he was not monitored and found wandering around the hallways. The case manager was not helpful with insurance and Lee's mother had to do all the work to get him medically transported back to Illinois. The nurses told family that Lee was going to be released and that his mother had to get him back home, in which, the medically transport company stated this could not happen, due to his condition. We had to refuse discharge until appropriate medical transport was arranged. He was treated very poorly there, and his needs were not met. It was embarrassing for our family to see how this hospital treated him. It was not until I got a hold of the weekend social worker, Anna, that things started to get arranged. She was VERY helpful and got things happening. This only happen due to us reaching out and trying to get someone to help us! He was in the neuro unit from July 23rd to August 4th. I am a MSW, LCSW and know how this process works, and he was not taken care of. This type of care is not okay, especially in a neuro unit, where he has a TBI. I want to know who is responsible for making sure these patients get good care? This was a terrible incident and was traumatic to the family, as Lee now has a TBI and his life will not be the same. The care received increased the trauma and stress and this is not acceptable. His insurance was out of network, but with a TBI, there is a single case in network that can be applied for, and the case manager did not even attempt to help with any of this. This needs to be looked into, and his stay needs to be covered, as he has insurance that can cover this. How can a person be in a neuro unit and NEVER see a neurologist? His mother spoke with a MD twice, who could not make decisions regarding neuro care, but there was no neurologist to consult with. How is this okay? How is putting pressure on a family from out of state, with a person that just was diagnosed with a TBI, to get him home okay?
Insurance coverage should be looked into and process a single care in network case for coverage. Lee's family would like some answers regarding his care and acknowledgement that this can cause further impairment for Lee. I want to be contacted with some answer to this.
Pediatric emergency room visit
I can't believe I even have to complain about this but I took my 3 month old child in for labored breathing. She had three old bruises, one small one on her tailbone and two on either side of her chin caused from burping her as instructed by the NICU and her pediatrician due to her bad acid reflux. As her mom I've had anemia my whole life and my child unfortunately got my genes so she bruises just as easily as I do. I feel like she did not get the appropriate care because we needed her blood oxygen to stabilize and because the nurse was making such a big deal about the bruises they woke her up from her sleep (she had not been able to sleep for hours due to the labored breathing) to take secondary X-rays of all of her bones. She also was not very gentle when trying to administer her IV. The nurse assumed it was child abuse after asking about the bruises and the only one I could not account for at the time was the one on her back. I do not feel as though they asked the appropriate questions. The police and CPS were called which blindsided me as they did not ask me anything relating to it while we were at the hospital. Had this been a real instance of child abuse I would completely understand, however, the way everyone went about this was completely wrong in my opinion.
Lost items
All belongs where lost while i was in Sunrise Hospital for 5 months i was released in hospital gown no wallet my cash gone ssi card ...etc.

Negligence on behalf of staff communication and rightful action taken
My granddaughter (37years old) Ashley Isabell Room 4526, was admitted to Sunrise hospital Monday 2/22/2021 for a low grade fever suggested by Davita dialysis after refusing to dialyze her. ER was great! Her catheter was infected which caused MSR blood infection. She was dialyzed through the same catheter Tuesday 2/23/21 while still infected because the...
Read full review of Sunrise Hospital and Medical CenterNurse using my fingerprint to open my phone while I was sedated in the er
I had went to the hospital after collapsing at work. I was given medication that was very strong that made me very weak and tired and very sleepy. I remember the nurse trying to find me a ride ask me about my husband. Which I don't have a husband. When I doze off back to sleep after speaking to him. I can feel him taking my finger and putting it in on my phone to unlock my phone. After he did this I can hear you talking to another nurse say the numbers that I had in my phone was under lawyer numbers and laughing. He waited until after I went back to sleep to put my phone back on the table. He was making funning jokes about it. I cant remember his name.
Desired outcome: None
Awful treatment
My father was transferred to Sunrise after fainting and falling; fracturing his jaw. They left him in the ER hallway, all night. Nobody checked on him. No food or water. No medication for inflammation; infection; or pain. Mind you, he's 66 and has cancer. He finally got a room like 16 hours later (after laying on awful stretcher in ER with no pillow) He did not get a gown to change out of his bloody old clothes into. Nor did they give him a clean mask. He had his bloody one from the OTHER hospital he was transferred from. Finally after tests; they said he can leave after a doctor approves his results. When I arrive; they tell him they don't have a wheel chair for him? Excuse me? I just watched someone walk in with an empty one about 5 minutes before my dad stumbled up! Just awful! Shame on you guys!
Neglect
My 68 year old mother was discharged yesterday morning I was waiting in the parking lot to pick her up because we are not allowed to enter the hospital due to covid 19. She was wheeled out in a wheelchair and placed on a bench unattended while on morphine. Her belongings during her overnight stay after surgery were misplaced for over 12 hours. I was hung up...

This was the worst hospital care I have ever received in my life. I arrived in Sunrise ER around 11:45 pm seeking help for kidney stone pain. As I was very clear with these words throughout my entire experience. I sat in the ER waiting room for 3 and a half hours before someone realized I was there. The cleanliness of the hospital was foul as there were flies EVERYWHERE and roaches in the waiting room. Once I was finally seen in Triage it took them another hour and a half to get me to the back. Once I was moved to the back I was given TYLENOL for kidney stone pain. While waiting to see a doctor, hysterical in pain, your guys' registrar proceeded to hit on me making inappropriate comments about my appearance. I came in with a pain level of 6 and by the time I saw a nurse, not a doctor, a nurse my pain level had reached a ten. I finally requested to be discharged so I could seek care elsewhere and Nurse Michelle offered morphine. I declined as I knew the state I was in and torodol works best for my kidneys. Michelle Reyes left again and came back about an hour later to administer morphine, which I had just previously declined. I was under the impression I was being given torodol until AFTER the medicine was given to me and I began throwing up. I never saw Nurse Michelle Reyes again. I pressed the nurse button many times seeing a new nurse every single time and explaining my condition all over again. I had a CT scan performed and was never given my results. I never spoke to a doctor, couldn't even tell you his name, and watched my discharge papers be printed 52 minutes before anybody noticed. Once I was finally discharged around 6am my pain level was right back to where it was. Not even 6 hours later, I was rushed to Desert Springs Hospital in an ambulance after passing out in my kitchen due to KIDNEY FAILURE. I had an ultrasound and CT scan performed which showed a .7 mm kidney stone blocking my ureter and a 2.87 cm ovarian cyst. I have been hospitalized for the last week with two surgeries performed and two stents placed. I would love to know how I was in your hospital hours before being rushed into an OR elsewhere and nobody in your ER caught it? I literally had a CT scan performed. There was not a single productive thing about this visit. My treatment was delayed for absolutely no reason. I have already been in contact with my attorneys planning to take further legal action as this should never happen to another patient that walks through those ER doors again. Very disappointed.
Neglect; family member in room 5605
My family member needed a breathing treatment at 2pm it is now 6pm has not received one and he cannot eat with his treatment. Unacceptable treatment Being under staffed is not an excuse! Nursing is leaving items on top of his food (cross contamination!) And putting stuff on top of the trash that is just in the short time of my visit! We have asked for the last two hours for a tech to come give a treatment and called the supervisor number with no answer!
