leather recliner serial # [protected] merchant # [protected]
Our children purchased a lovely dark brown leather recliner for my husband's birthday. Within a few months the leather cording on the arm rests were wearing off. I contacted the furniture store and included photos of the chair as well as the identifying numbers on the chair and the customer's receipt. The chair was $ 695.50. Nearly a year later the store manager brought a replacement arm rest. The color was completely wrong. The store manager agreed to this. It will be 2 years that we have waited for a response again. The warranty was not expired when we first reported the problem. I expect a replacement chair of the same price and quality PLUS keep the original chair to use in the basement. Actually an upgraded quality, as the first one was not of even "fair quality". I will never purchase another Lane product and will, of course, never give a favorable endorsement to their products.
3684 roller mocha couch and loveseat
I purchased the above from American Freight furniture in Erie PA in May of 2015. When I had it for 1 month it looked worse than the one it replaced. As soon as you sit on it all the poof goes out of the cushions leaving it to look old and shabby. I call AF in june to express my concerns. They promised to send someone out with replacement cushions as soon as they came in. I called again two weeks ago and was told they still didn't come in. These cushions are attached to the couch so there is no way I can do anything. I would either like this resolved or you can come and get the set and give me my hard earned money back!
material on recliners peeling off
we bought our 2 recliners from Haynes furniture in Richmond, Va. Purchased the extended warranty . For the last 6 months both our recliners are peeling. We contacted the furniture store and even had a representative come to our home and they say too bad, and will not do anything. We are so frustrated. No chairs should be peeling like this. someone please help [protected] ben clark
I bought a sofa and love seat set from High point in florence sc, after about a year or two the chairs started to peel. I had warranty but it did not cover the peeling. I ended up buying the replacement cushions For the seat and back.now the arms of the chairs, look
Like they have, the measles . Are there replacement for the arms . In replacement cost I've paid for another set. Need away out r.Graham [protected]
I too bought a sofa made by United Furniture Industries and the cushions started out with small cracks and now the material is peeling off. When I buy my next one, I will definitely research the manufacturer of the sofa.
cracked and torn fabric
I filed a complaint with Marie Richardson on 2/23/15 and they have denied helping me because I have owned the Double Reclining Sofa for over four years. As you can see by the photos, the cheap polyester fabric, which is paper thin, is tearing away from the pad sheet by sheet. It is also cracking all over the sofa. It is myself and my boyfriend who use the sofa and we don't have any pets. I asked them to pay to recover at the least and they will not. I believe an $1079 sofa should last longer than four years and Lane should stand behind their product and by the number of complaints on this site, it is obvious they don't. I have more photos, however, they are too large to send.
Thank you.

Bought a Lane leather couch and love seat. Cost over $3k. Absolute junk from day one. Too little padding in the arms, and cushions. Horrible craftsmanship. Both seating support/areas failed. Do not make the costly mistake we made!
dangerous double recliner
My mom v=bought a brand new lane double recliner loveseat in the spring. When we got it home, that night we found out that if two {or later, even one!} people were sitting in it, in the recline position, and one of the persons leaned forward the l=slightest bit? The WHOLE UNIT would tip over forward! My mom, is 85 and sort of frail. I am in my early 50's and quite strong, and it is all I can do to right the unit after it has tipped.I called the store{Mclouds}and they basicly said"oh well..You should have know when you bough tit!"!We called after 4days!Im working w/a woman from the Lane furniture company to try to get some resolve on this 800$ plus tax unit..I have seen at least 5 other cases with this unit that have resulted in severe injury...Well, Lane?

poor quality
In 2007 I purchased a $900 Lane Comfort King "Big Man's" recliner, built for (and even advertised by) a football player sized man. Supposedly the frame is heavier gauge and all the other parts are beefed up - but truth be known, it's just a wider and slightly taller piece of junk.
Since I purchased this recliner:
1) it has had the mechanism replaced three times, about once every 2-3 years
2) the leather on the arms has ripped because it was not stapled properly (not to mention the cardboard holding up the cushioning on the arms, which buckled after a few years
3) the nylon rollers have broken and fallen over several times, putting metal on metal and trashing my carpeting under the chair
4) the leather (dark brown) has changed from brown to a reddish tint over the past several years
5) the cushioning material (foam) has deteriorated so badly that the material is now falling out of the chair
6) the bolts that hold the reclining arm to the bar that operates the recliner have sheered off three times
Fortunately, I purchased one of those furniture warranties from the dealer that afforded me free labor once Lane's 1 year warranty expired - since the mechanisms are lifetime, that came in handy the first two times I had to have it replaced; but the third time I was outside my extended warranty and was on my own... AND THIS IS WHERE IT GOT INTERESTING.
I called the dealer and they gave me Lane's number at "Furniture Brands" - the same toll free number listed on this forum by so many others. I spoke with a nice lady who took my serial number and said she would send me a replacement mechanism. And a few days later it arrived - but this time it was different - instead of sending the entire mechanism for the base, which bolts on and off with maybe 8-10 bolts, they instead sent the scissor mechanisms and all the internal components that makeup the mechanism (except the base) - so basically the first two times they sent the entire mechanism and a tech from the warranty company was here maybe an hour and replaced it with ease.
BUT, now that I'm out of all warranties, they sent me only the scissor mechanisms and some bolts - no bar, no brace, none of the other components. Of course I had no idea what they sent was incomplete so I hired a recommend tech that works for the furniture company, $125. He arrives, expresses great hatred for Lane and even moreso when we saw they sent pieces and not the assembled mechanism.
An hour and a half later, after a lot of complaining and a few curse words, the finally got the entire mechanism disassembled and there was rumblings of his fee not being enough to cover "this much later" - little did I know it was about to get worse - much worse. LANE HAD CHANGED THE DIAMETER OF THE CROSS BAR AND THE OLD ONE NO LONGER WOULD WORK with the new parts. After trying to modify the bushings and make them work, it became evident that it would not work well and I called Lane at the toll free number. After much runaround and finally having the tech speak to them directly, they figured out that they had not sent "all of the parts" - due to the design change.
So, here we are, my beloved recliner in about a dozen or more pieces scattered about the floor and we cannot put it back together. Lane agreed to send the correct parts but of course that meant another service call and another $125. Lane said they could cover that, to send them the invoice and they would take care of it. When they received the copy of the tech's invoice they called up the tech and somehow got it in their head (the tech denies saying what they claimed he said) that the $125 was for TWO service calls, which is ludicrous. No, insane.
What ensued is even worse - those two got into a war of words and then an email exchange, with me acting as referee. Finally, after about a dozen emails and several phone calls, the supervisor for that department basically told me to "shut up so I can talk" - yes, she really said that to me. I very nearly hung up but decided to not allow them to get away with this and insisted that they honor their promise to reimburse me. After another email exchange with the tech who wrote her an extremely detailed email citing every step of the process and confirming he would have to charge me again for a 2nd service call, they told him (but never called me back) that they would process the reimbursement. When he forwarded a copy of that email to me, I waited a day and then called them - and she said to me "like I told you in my last email, I have already processed the ticket for your reimbursement (she sent that email to the tech but did not cc me or sent me a separate email.)
Then the icing on the cake - it will take 6-8 weeks for the check to be processed and sent out. "Happy Holidays" she said.
Yeah, right... - Lane, if you are listening, I want you to know that your personnel are not helping your reputation at all - not to mention the way you are constructing "heavy duty" recliners for big and tall men.
What would I want at this point? I think Lane should offer to replace my piece of junk recliner with another piece of junk recliner so that I get at least ten years out of my nearly $1000 investment in a piece of furniture. It seems the least they could do, given the multiple break downs and miscues and ultimately insulting tone of their staff about my chair. I actually loved that chair in many ways, but alas, it lays crumbled up in my Sunroom now and I am faced with a decision to spend another $125 to get it back together OR just throw it in the trash, which is probably where it belongs at this point.
So, Lane, if you wish to contact me, feel free - at least offer me a substantial discount (you can even keep the $125 your are supposedly sending back by sometime in February) - that way I at least get a ten year life expectancy out of my now departed recliner.
allergic reaction to recliners
I recently purchased two Lane recliners. Fabric is polyester/cotton/polypropylene. I have a severe respiratory allergic reaction after sitting on either recliner for over 15". I called Lane Furniture Consumer Services in Tupelo, MS. They say it's not their problem. I asked for some idea in regard to any treatment (stain guard, fire ###ant, etc) that might be in the fabric so I can discuss with my doctor. They claimed that the fabric is completely untreated. "Tough Luck" is their attitude.
all cover material pealing off.
Only after a year of purchasing a full set of sofa, loove seat and ottoman, the cover material is completely pealing off. (See attached photos) Now Sears will not respond for the damages claiming their warranty is only for three months. To me, no good quality furniture peals off in only one year. We paid $1, 400 for the set and are very frustrated and are considering never buying again from Sears nor furniture from United Furniture Industries.
couch
I bought a supposedly leather couch from Chinatowne in solvay NY now 2and half years later the leather is chafing off and I have to put a sheet over the couch It was made by United Furniture Industry. I am getting the run around from both places to try and get a new couch or at least new cushions.. UFI says they don't make the cushions anymore.. It was a fairly expensive couch too.. my advice don't buy any furniture from Chinatowne and def not UFI furnitur its crap!
crappy recliner
So mom got this feminine paisley recliner and it has been the biggest piece of crap.
First we noticed that the colors on the fabric aged 8 years in 2 months and turned from a bright color to a muddy dull color. We rarely ever sat in it because we got it for my brother to sit it when he comes to visit so he can put his legs up as he has leg problems.
Anyway after 6 months, I noticed it sagging, sitting at an angle. And after 8 months, it developed a deep depression in the stuffing in the lower backrest. After a year and 2 months, the reclining mechanism that extends out the footrest, snapped in half.
We should have done something when the color faded, but now it is too late to try to get our money back.
Also we did talk with our furniture dealer...he said call lane as he was going out of business.
He sold mostly Lane...and from what I read on here, I can see why he went out of business
I guess there is nothing I can do now but put it to the road and swear to never buy another Lane and tell everyone I know not to buy one either.

Poor service
We have two Lane recliners that are 4 1/2 years old. I've tried to get a new mechanism for one. The company gave me the phone number of their repairman who doesn't answer his phone or return phone calls. I've emailed the co. about him and asked for help but I don't hear anything at all. I will never buy or recommend any Lane furniture to anyone. Their service stinks! So, I'm stuck with a recliner that doesn't recline properly and the company really doesn't care. Everyone who reads this, DON'T PURCHASE A LANE RECLINER. It doesn't last and they don't have any customer service!

lane leather recliner
Purchased a large mens leather recliner mfd. by Lane recliner / furrniture co, This recliner has beem a complete piece of junk.Has a right arm storage compartment, that is opened by flipping the right arm rest open for storage in the right side under the arm pad. The arm on the right side is poorly designed, has no latch or fastener for the opening lid which is the arm rest itself, therefor upon resting your arm in the normal resting postion of the chair, the arm rest rolls your arm to the outside of the armrest as the storage compartment then won't stay closed and opens rolling your arm off the chair. The finish on the leather is starting to have light to dark splotches on the finish as if the die was not applied correctly or evenly.the finish on the leather is actually coming off. The chair is less than one year old.Contacted the store where purchased, they took photos ect, contacted Lane co but they refuse to take any action whatsoever.therefore I would strongly advise against Lane Furniture.they at one time were of great quality but as of late have changed and are very poor quality, and their warranties are not of any value as the are only as good as who backs them, Lane! I will never buy a Lane product again and will advise all I know to be warned of Lanes poor workmanship and lack of customer satisfaction. The store Barnetts Funiture in Florence Al has offered to try and strap the arm in place, preventing some of the problem, but can't see as that is the correct action either...Phillip M. Florence Alabama UNHAPPY WITH LANE RECLINERS...

faulty mechanism
I purchased two recliners from this company, Action Industries, Inc.for a library room in a home in Missouri. The brand is Lane. I have no children it was just my husband and myself, so they were seldom used. 6 months into our ownership the mechanism started to fail. Like most busy working, traveling consumers we did not pursue the problem immediately. Our bad. Both chairs had the same problems. I eliminated the first since it would no longer fold, now I've eliminated the other chair. Even though they both looked new they quit functioning and were very unsatisfactory. Please avoid this company and their products.

junk service
I"ve had a snuggler recliner for 2 weeks and its sagging bad on one side, its also 6 inches higher than the rest of my furniture. Will never purchase Lane again. Always thought they were a good product. Ordered through Woods Household Appliances, Mt. Pleasant, Mi 48617. Order No. 210531, ser. no. [protected]. Man. and ship date, 05/11/11. I ordered it March 18, 2011, and it took two months to arrive at the store. The chair is style no. [protected], Pattern 05l, Desc. #oscr. I tend to sit on one side to be near my reading lamp and it has no support.
We had the same problem with Lane. One of the seats sags and the material has stretched and is bunched up. We have never had a problem with any of our couches throughout 25 years (I weight 100 lbs and only sit on it for two hours each evening!) The fabric is defective - no matter what I used, cleaning left water marks.
Called Lane, sent them pictures and was told sagging and material problems are regular wear and tear.
So, the moral of the story is: Normal wear and tear for Lane is abnormal causing their furniture to need replacing within a year!
how much do you weigh? I love that it's 6 inches taller than the rest of your furniture, like this is relevant or not something you should have known before you bought it.
cheaply made!
We bought a Lane reclining couch and a snuggler. We've had them repaired at least twice since buying them 2 years ago. The arms are made with cardboard and the stuffing has fallen out. Very hard to pull recliner cord.
The reclining on the snuggler ripes the stuffing out every time you try to recline and they are hard lock down when you go to get out of them. Very uncomfortable to sit in, rather sit on the floor than to sit on couch.
Lane furniture is very poorly made, and we will never buy it from them again!
big man chairs are crap
We bought two Lane Big Man chairs, (I'm 5-10, 220, not what I would call a real big man)inside of 4yrs ago. The chairs have each been in the shop twice and I have fixed broken bolts in each one myself. You just sit in the one and the leg rest pops up and you can't get it to stay down. The other one just don't hardly rock period. The repairman that worked on the chairs said Lane is a real pain to deal with and he was'nt lying! Needless to say, we have purchased our last Lane product!
won't stand behind furniture
We purchased a Lane leather sectional sofa from Kittles about 4 years ago for about 2, 500. The padding in the seats, arms and back is completely broken down. They sent the padding but it is up to us to pay for the labor which is the most expensive part of the repair. It is around $600 to have the foam padding put in. I won't buy another lane product. Kittles also refused to stand behind the labor portion of the repair even though we purchased the extended warranty. This extended warranty is the only reason lane even provided the foam padding.
recliner keeps breaking but store won't fix or replace
2 years ago we bought a recliner from a local furniture company and we chose Lane because of the manufacturer warranty. A few days/weeks after the 1 year warranty was up the recliner broke; pieces flew everywhere. Took it to the store and manager refused to replace but attempted to fix. recliner worked, but sat crooked and didn't function properly. at year 2 it came apart again and will not recline. we keep our furniture covered so it still looks new. we feel the chair should be replaced. my husband is disabled and needs his recliner. I will probably never purchase another lane product again.
junk
I purchased a Lane double recliner sofa. After 5 wks, the arm cushion came loose from the wood frame. The poly filled cushions have flattened & the material has stretched. Per customer service "the warranty is for labor & cover to repair only" for 1 year from date of purchase. Customer Service suggested I use the palm of my hand to try to move the poly around in the cushion! I now own a 6 wk old piece of furniture that looks like a 25 yr old piece of furniture. And Lane is supposed to be so good. I will scream it to the world that Lane furniture is junk.
I purchased a Lane lovesest, rocker recliner less than 3 years ago. It is almost impossible to raise the footrest, the stuffing is mashed, or nonexistent, in many places, especially the back, the seats are lopsided because of bad stuffing, or mashed or shifted, whatever, it is not comfortable. We keep having to vacuum stuffing up off the floor.
It clunks and slides back when I sit on one side. I called Lane and they offered to send more stuffing and I could find someone to upholster it for me, and they would send someone to look at the slideing problem and I could pay them.
My husband and I are 76 years old and this sofa has had very good care. I have La-z-Boy Chairs that are more than 15 years old and still very even and comfortable. I just bought another one. Have help coming this afternoon to put the Lane on the street for the trash man. I hope he doesn't say "Oh, it is a Lane, they are filling our landfill", and drive by.
defective recliners
Lane furniture company sells defective recliners and does not honor their products . We purchased two at over $ 1ooo.oo . We special ordered them and I sit on bare wood that I have to pad with batting. My husband s mechanism is broken .We complained from the day of delivery to no avail. They are two years old and we are faced with having to buy new recliners to replace new recliners. What's wrong with this picture? This is the one we have escalade hide-a -chaise 11919. We spoke to customer service personel in North Carolina .phone # [protected].
