Pre-purchase inspection on a used car. Total failure on lemon squad.
I scheduled an inspection for a car my daughter wanted to buy, just to be sure it was in good shape. I went online and booked the inspection on a Tuesday evening figuring that there would be plenty of time for an inspector to be lined up by the weekend. I was alerted that an inspector was assigned for that Friday. By Thursday no inspector was in touch with myself or the seller to make arrangements so I called into Lemon Squad to get details. The agent told me they would reach out to the inspector (named CJ) and get back to me with a scheduled time. Friday came around, with no call from CJ or the Agent. I called in again on Friday evening to find out if CJ was going to show up or not and the Agent again said they would call CJ.
Come Monday morning and online my Inspection has been updated Estimated Saturday of next week. Well now the point is moot as the car has sold. Because Lemon Squad couldn't get their act together for a timely inspection. Total lack of communication and a flaky inspector.
I have used Lemon Squad in the past and found their service acceptable. Now I have requested a refund and cancelled the order. I will never use Lemon Squad again, and I suggest anyone else reconsider if you are looking at them for used car inspections. Their Support Agents are polite but give you nothing but lip service. No refund, only a credit for another inspection, which expires in 90 days! RUN very far from this company.
Desired outcome: My experience would not have been so bad if the company had offered a full refund for bad/non-existent service.
Reimbursement for all costs associated with the lemon I purchased after relying upon their "expertise".
If you read one review, read this one: LEMON SQUAD DESERVES A ZERO STAR REVIEW. I received an inspection report on a used vehicle from MA. The report overall came out with a good rating. There was surface rust noted on the report that was consistent with age and mileage. I relied upon the inspection to purchase the vehicle and incurred a $1,700 transportation bill. Once the vehicle arrived, I put it up on jacks and inspected. Without removing any trim, under vehicle protection or the like, I found a GIANT rust hole through the frame of the vehicle. After certified dealership inspected it, the car was deemed a lemon as it was unsafe to drive. Thankfully, the dealership in MA took the vehicle back under the lemon law warranty protections. The bad news is I had to pay another $1,700 to return the vehicle. All in all, I'm out over $3,500 because of them.
After many phone calls, I finally was able to get Denise, the manager, on the phone. After explaining my scenario, I was met with a disgruntled and downright disturbing take on customer service. She BLAMED me for relying upon their services and refused to help me with the costs I incurred from their poor performance. I don't know what business in this world can openly lambast its customers for relying upon their expertise!
We all make mistakes and that's fine, but when given the opportunity to do the right thing, you need to step up and take care of your customers! You've lost me as a customer for life and I hope others can take heed of my warning.

Standard pre-purchase inspection
I used Lemon Squad for the first time to inspect a car 5 hours away from where I live and I will not be using them again. To get an idea of that to expect before ordering an inspection, I had looked at the sample report they provide on their website which contains 270 high-resolution photos and a detailed description of the issues with the car. I was expecting something similar. Instead I received 74 low resolution photos with distorted colors, and many were out of focus. They appeared to have been taken with a camera phone from 2004! Additionally, the written description of the cosmetic issues was vague and confusing. I didn't feel confident making a decision based on the report I received, which was the entire point of using their service. I contacted customer service to request a refund, or at least a credit towards another inspection because I am still shopping for a car. The customer service person told me that the report I received meets their standards and they refused to refund or credit me. I tried to give them an opportunity to win my business back but they weren't interested. $200 down the drain. Thanks for nothing, Lemon Squad.
Desired outcome: Full refund

I didn’t receive the services I payed for or that was advertised
I payed for 3 trucks to be inspected and on 9/7/22 and do not use lemon squad they are a lemon 🍋 themselves they flase advertise they lied about being able to diagnose trucks the mechanic admitted to the dealer that they are condition reporters and don’t really inspect trucks but more cars and do not give the services you pay for which they agree to provide this is why they do not want you there to see your vehicle inspected i have payed 3 trucks to be fully diagnosed and inspected exterior interior and plug into a obd2 9pin adapter with computer which they said they would do but when the inspector came he only took pictures of the vehicles which we could have done and when we called the supervisor denise she was very unprofessional and rude and hang up the phone on me please do not use their services at all it is all smoking mirrors they are doing a job you can do yourself if i wanted instagram photos i would took my own selfies smh i am exhausted extremely frustrated they are a fraud i was scammed supervisor denise won’t even return my call i left her many massages

Non responsive
I placed an order on 08/26/22 to inspect a vehicle before picking up, a few hours later I got a message that they were unable to perform an inspection because the dealer wouldn’t allow it. They suggested I have it inspected at my house since the dealer has a 7 day return policy and they would call me back to schedule. I tried using the chat function on 08/27/22 to ask about when they would come to inspect since I never got a call back the day before. I called on 08/29/22 and asked about when they would be coming and they apologized for the delay and that on their end my order was still on hold and that they would fix it and someone would call me to get it scheduled. I called again on 08/30/22 because I did not get a call back, I told them I only had 7 days to get this done before the 7 day return was up, they said they would contact the manager and they would call me back to schedule. No call back, I called today this morning 08/31/22 and again asked when they were going to schedule and they again said they would let a manager know and that they would call me back. I asked for a refund and they said no refunds all sales were final, I called my bank and explained the situation and they agreed and said if a service was not provided then it wasn’t a sale and refunded my money and are opening a dispute against the company. I got a notification about an hour ago that my estimated scheduled time would be 09/02/22 and that I would get a call to confirm. Not only will I be out of town but my 7 days to return the vehicle would be up. I let them know via chat that I disputed their transaction with my bank because they failed to provide service and there was no response. Thumbs down, would not recommend based on my experience.
Very poor inspection
So found a car that I wanted that was 1k miles away from me, rather than just trusting the dealer I decided this would be a very good thing to do for $250 but it actually was the exact opposite result. The dealer barley had gas in the car so the guy barley drove the car and that's where all the problems were. Differantal was loose with damaged drive shaft, knew the second I drove it after I paid 1k for delivery. 2k in repairs. After I put some gas in it to test further and some light spirited driving the check engine light came on with ecs failure that caused the car not to go past 20mph, 1k atleast to repair. "Mechanic"couldn't figure out why the headlights were showing an error, poped the hood and saw a bunch of wires that are clearly not factory. I'm no mechanic but it was obvious to anyone that has ever opened a hood. Entire front end was covered in rock chips and while the report did make some mention of chips they never took a picture of them, or the damaged rear view or the fact that the entire drivers was side was kept together by Bondo that was failing. Again I'm not a pro but was so obvious. So many other things I can list but what makes me the most upset is that they never even called me back after I put the complain in. They totally ignored me.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, ENDED UP LOSING 3K TO SELL TO A MECHANIC THAT I KNOW.
Desired outcome: Want my money back

Engine Blows Two Days After Lemon Squad Inspection
Purchased a used BMW 335 Xi GT in OK with 80K miles on August 8th, 2022. Had it delivered to Atlanta (8-10) and as soon as I started it you could here a engine bearing singing. The Lemon Squad inspector must have been deaf not to hear it. Two days later the sound got louder and on the way to the BMW service center the engine blew. Replacement engine is as much as we paid for car. I am pretty sure inspector was not a ASC certified mechanic...
Obviously, couldn't recommend Lemon Squad!
Don't repeat my mistake...
Desired outcome: Repair car based on inspector's negligence

Lemon Squad Services
I ordered an inspection in June on a 2013 Mercedes. I’m not impressed, many things were missed, balding tires on the inside tread, damage to the vehicle, broken buttons and vents… many other things. I wasn’t expecting the car to be perfect. Just wanted up front honesty and detail more then “normal for mileage and year” for everything. Submitted my claims to service request on never got a response for a month and a half. Called multiple times and the rude women who answered the phone was unprofessional and wouldn’t let me speak. I demanded a refund thru email and was finally responded to today and told that I didn’t make my claim soon enough… which is ridiculous considering I didn’t get a response to my past 3 emails over the last month and a half
Desired outcome: More detail then what was shown. I paid $215 for my inspection and it wasn’t worth it.

Car Inspection
One star is too much. Upon receiving the car after inspection, several test drives experienced a loud thunk and metal grinding in the rear end. There is no way the car was driven (as reported) without the problems I experienced on every test drive. Took it to a local mechanic. The entire read end suspension is shot and the car is not drivable. Total estimation is close to $3k in fixes.
Exact wording from the report - " I found no issues on the test drive. The engine had plenty of power and there were no misfires or smoking. The transmission shifted as designed with no harsh engagement or slipping. The steering was responsive and the suspension was firm and the vehicle handled well. There were no abnormal vibrations or odd noises."
I am 100% confident this car was not driven during the inspection that I paid for. The wording (above) from the report feels very 'boilerplate'. I do not expect them to identify every concern, but they clearly stated the "suspension was firm and the vehicle handled well." and there is no way that statement is even 10% true. "There were no abnormal vibrations or odd noises" - you clearly did not inspect this car.
This inspection is not reliable at all. Your best bet is to use a local mechanic for any shipped car buy, preferably a dealership that clearly knows the make/model. Total waste of $279 and there is no guarantee with their inspection. BUYER BEWARE.

Mobile vehicle inspection
Strung me along for over a week. Unscrupulous business. No communication, no updates, rude staff, no shows. No refunds and lies from every person I spoke with. Cursed out and threatened they were going to put in a cancellation into their system to make it appear that I cancelled and I would not win a credit card dispute. Lies upon lies, it's disgusting how this company attempts to do business. Buyer Beware.
Desired outcome: Full refund!
No refunds even if inspection appointment is too far in the future
THEY WILL NOT REFUND even if it takes days for them to give you an inspection appointment. We were ready to buy a car but wanted it inspected first. We paid for an inspection and then they sent an email with an ETA 5 days later. By then the car would have been sold to someone else. We emailed them but they would not give us an earlier date and would not refund us. We disputed with our credit card company and they won because in their terms and conditions THEY WILL NOT REFUND for any reason - even if the inspection appointment is too far in the future. AVOID!

Lemon Squad RV inspection
I used this service to check out an RV in another state that I was interested in. Because of the Lemon Squad report, I purchased the RV. When I went to pick up the RV, I found out from the sellers that the "RV inspector" wasn't an inspector at all. He told them he was a private investigator that picked up some side business from Lemon Squad and they only paid him $150 to do the inspection and therefore an hour was plenty of time to look over the vehicle. The sellers told me he never drove the vehicle...he only started it up! If you read the report this is what he stated:
'I found no issues on the test drive. The engine had plenty of power and there were no misfires. The transmission shifted as designed with no harsh engagement or slipping. The steering was responsive and the suspension was firm and the vehicle handled well. There were no abnormal vibrations or odd noises. The brakes were firm with no pulsation felt.'
This pisses me off as he NEVER drove it! Also, the first time I turned on the wipers...they disintegrated! He marked off that they were good. He also said there was a little wear and tear on the seats...that's true, but did he even check the seats on the dinette? They were turned over because they are awful on the side that is suppose to be up. The dinette table laminate is peeling off, a light in the front was out, and a brake light in the back was out. There is no telling what else I'm going to find as I go through and put this thing together. I paid $44,000 cash up front based on their report! I would NEVER have done that based on what I've found so far. I expect a full refund from this shoddy inspection and personally, I think that supposed "RV inspector" should be fired! This is the email I sent to the company back in May giving them plenty of time to respond. They never did.
Teresa Patterson
Desired outcome: Full refund for this shoddy supposed inspection! $300. They should pay me the $44,000 I paid for this RV! They're getting off cheap!
Your company LIED...that's FRAUD! You were suppose to send a "Qualified Experienced Inspector" as per your website: ASE CERTIFIED INSPECTORS
Our network of Expert Inspectors is chock-full of highly qualified, ASE certified technicians! ...that's what it says on the home page of your website! My "inspector" wasn't even an inspector! He was a Private Investigator doing a side job for you...and he LIED on the report! Don't you stand behind your product? AND...your company lied...says you have a rating with the BBB:
BBB ACCREDITED BUSINESS
We're a BBB Accredited Business and are dedicated to your satisfaction! I took a picture about what it really says about you on the actual BBB website (see image). You aren't even accredited! That's false advertising! FRAUD! I will continue to write bad reviews and make sure you have poor ratings until you refund my money! I'm retired now...got nothing but time! Teresa Patterson

No show on an inspection date of 6/27/22. The car has now sold due to their delay. They say they don't refund either.
Desired outcome: Want a refund as you failed to show on the day you scheduled
Faulty report cost me thousands!!
I was trying to buy a certain make/model of car to drive to alaska for my summer job and had to look across the country for one. I found one in michigan and the salesman told me that the condition of the undercarriage was good. So I booked an inspection to confirm this. The inspector reported that the car was in excellent condition with perfect body and only mild surface rust underneath, so I purchased the car and had it shipped to me. On inspection in person after it finally arrived I found severe rust causing perforation of the frame, pieces of sheet metal that are broken off or cracked through, nuts that are permanently fused. In addition there is a large crack in the exhaust manifold. The dealership said I purchased the car as is and refuse to return the purchase price. I purchased the car as a direct result of the report I received from the lemon squad! According to a local certified inspector/mechanic, the car is unsafe to drive and would not pass inspection or be eligible for registration due to its condition. As a result of the car's poor condition, I was forced to search for and purchase another vehicle, forcing me to postpone my departure (and my arrival up there), thereby postponing my start date for my summer job. This has cost me a lot of money as well as lost income. I'm now stuck with an $18k rust bucket, which I hold lemon squad to blame for.
Desired outcome: I believe that Lemon Squad needs to reimburse me the money that I spent due to their very inaccurate reporting.
Inspection
BUYERS BEWARE! This is the worst inspection I have ever received in my life. I had Lemon Squad inspect a vehicle for me in another state since I could not make it there due to my schedule. I hired them to be my fiduciary to protect my interest and investment. They failed me in every way,
The inspector could not take the vehicle out on a test drive because the owner would not let him take it out in bad weather. At any rate, he was able to perform an inspection on the engine compartment as well as the interior of the car. To make a long story short, the inspector missed many issues which are mindboggling to me. First, his picture he sent me shows antifreeze all over the radiator but yet he market it as working normally, Here are some other easy things he missed: headlights not working, horn not working, interior lights not working, radio not working, headliner sagging, door handles missing parts, the rear seat had rips in the vinyl was torn and form was disintegrating and falling off at the bottom of the seat.
There were so many simple things they could have caught which would have allowed me to negotiate a better deal or walk away from the deal all together. However, I trusted them and bought the vehicle.
If you use this company, you have no one to blame now but yourself. I wish I had read more reviews before

Pre purchase inspection
Because the nature of the inspection is purely visual and mostly cosmetic details a glaring omission in the visual inspection was over looked.
Most people looking for a mechanical inspection and what I got was not sufficient. You are my 5 senses and need to be attuned to potential major failures for the price I spent and the type of car the service is insufficient.
I understand that the car is not on a lift and isn't disassembled but I would recommend this service is a lemon dud. All in all there is no value or peace of mind genuinely offered by this service and it's convenient that refunds are not offered. Lemon squad is a lemon of a service.
A major failure took place that was visually detectable during the inspection but with all of the worthless cosmetic photos I did not get an inspection worthy of the major mechanical purchase that a car is and what was easy to inspect and capture is missing from the photos provided and not noted. Now I'm out a large sum and the cost of this worthless file of photos. Visually accessable mechanical components are significantly more important than paint thickness and dings. They are note worthy but not nearly as important. Axel connecting points are significant!
Desired outcome: Full refund.

2018 dodge ram 2500
Took my truck in the first time on 9/16/21. The transmission was bad. I had just put 50,000 miles on my 2018 Ram 2500. I also have the Maxi Care lifetime warranty. They had my truck for almost 7 weeks. I got it back on a Friday night. Had it back in Saturday morning. Told them that I would like to have reverse in my truck. They kept my truck again until the first of December. During that time they rebuilt the transmission 5 more times. After I picked my truck up I called them back in a couple days and told them that the transmission was still not right. I got told that all the parts inside were new and I had to give it time for the parts to get seated in. REALLY? So I played their game and gave it a couple weeks. Called again and told them it's still not right. They had me bring it in and leave it for the day. So I did that. Picked it up that evening and was told that there was no codes, the fluid was good and that it shifted like it was suppose to. Told me nothing was wrong. So I picked it up and left. The next week I came back in and took out a service writer. Got back to Dodge and was told to come back the next day to get a loaner. Drove off the lot and got about a mile. Transmission light came on and would not shift out of 2nd gear. That was the middle of January. That is where my truck has sat ever since. Been a Dodge customer for 30 plus years and this is how they treat a customer. Doubt I will stay with Dodge
Desired outcome: Put a new USA transmission in my truck and not one of the faulty ones from the closed plant in Mexico. Or get me a new truck just like the one I have.

Used car inspection
I ordered a used vehicle inspection from Lemon-Squad on 3/2/2022, Order number 469277. At the time of the order, I paid a mileage charge of 80.00. Lemon Squad put the inspection on hold on 3/3/2022. I contacted them VIA text message on 3/4 to ask why they put the order on hold. They informed me that they want an additional 70.00 for mileage. The address of the dealership that owns the vehicle was disclosed on the online order form, and I agreed to pay the additional mileage charge based on the address known at the time of the order. No information has changed since Lemon Squad accepted the order. I requested that the order be cancelled, and charges be refunded. Lemon Squad refuses to refund the charges based on their online agreement, even though they will not complete the service at the original charge quoted.
Desired outcome: Refund

Really lousy inspection report from Lemon Squad!
On January 17 2022, I ordered an inspection (Inspection #461365) on a 2011 Cadillac Escalade from Lemon Squad. I asked for this inspection because I live 900 miles from the vehicle and needed to confirm it's condition before flying in to buy it. The inspection was performed on January 21 and I received the inspection later that day.
The inspector did a reasonable job assessing the cosmetic condition of the vehicle. The mechanical assessment however, was woefully inadequate. The inspector did note excessive wear on the rear tires, and made note of a clunk that was reported as a probably broken motor mount (the inspector was correct), however, the inspector stated " The steering was responsive and the suspension was firm and the vehicle handled well. There were no abnormal vibrations or odd noises. The brakes were firm with no pulsation felt. There were no leaks found to the underside of the vehicle". Based on this assessment, I traveled to Florida to buy the vehicle.
When I first drove the car, the first thing I noticed was that the ride was EXTREMELY bouncy. It felt as if the front shock absorbers were disconnected. It also seemed as if there was far more steering 'play' than I would have expected from a vehicle of this type. Neither of these characteristics did I expect when the inspector stated "The steering was responsive and the suspension was firm and the vehicle handled well". I don't know what car he drove, but it wasn't this one!
I proceeded with the sale (kinda hard to go home when you fly in and take uber to the dealership), and drove the vehicle home. I made it home without incident, but when I took the vehicle to my local mechanic for state inspection, I was handed a $4000+ repair estimate. My local inspector found that 3 of 4 shock absorbers were visibly leaking and not functioning, requiring replacement. Lower ball joints were bad, as well as upper control arm bushings. Both sway bar end links were broken. These are ALL things that should have been noticed and reported upon by a reputable inspector. Further, I SPECIFICALLY requested that the engine be inspected for leaks. GM V8s at near 100kmi are known for oil pan or main seal leaks. The inspector stated "There were no leaks found to the underside of the vehicle." My local mechanic found that there is indeed oil leaking at the rear of the engine. Not enough to fail the state inspection, but enough that I need to repair for another expensive repair in the not-so-distant future.
I just paid my mechanic to make all required repairs. A total of $4548 plus $1151 for a new set of tires. Had the Lemon Squad inspector reported on the worn/broken suspension/steering components, I most certainly WOULD NOT have purchased the vehicle. Using Lemon Squad was supposed to reduce my downside risk of purchasing a vehicle out-of-state. This most certainly did NOT happen. I wound up purchasing a vehicle that was reported in good shape that required over $4500 worth of unreported repairs.
I reached out to Lemon Squad via their online chat feature. I was told to send an email with substantiating photos to [protected]@lemonsquad.com. I did as asked. Never got a reply.
I provided the inspection number, the date, and the circumstances. I also stated that I felt things were not right the minute I got in the vehicle. That feeling was confirmed/supported with factual evidence once I got home. Everything I wrote in my complaint took place within 10 days of the inspection. To suggest that the vehicle was fine, but all those repairs were due to things that happened after the inspection is ludicrous, and I believe any honest reader will read through your BS and see that your company is far from reputable and should be avoided.
Thank you for this information.
sounds like they lived up to their name. "Lemon" squad, they approve lemons that cost the buyer more than they sell it for in "working" condition.
