Lied on me said I requested move out
On Friday September 10, 2021, I arrived home to my lights being off once I got in the house I called them immediately and paid my past due balance in full and then I was informed that my account had been closed. And they would get me reenrolled and get my services back on and at this point the line disconnects. I called back and was then told a reconnection order had been sent to my utility provider oncor. So I got off with liberty to contact oncor. They told me they didn't have a reconnection order and that liberty power had sent them a move out order. I have never requested a move out order. I'm handicap. I just had a stroke my left side is paralyzed. This back and forth has been going on for 4 days still no power. I just can't believe I'm being treated this way. I have 3 children home, it's hot in Texas, my 2 dogs are all overheating. My daughter is a chronic asthmatic and needs her breathing machine daily so for 4 days we have lived in my car through the day only going in our hime late at night when it's not as hot
Desired outcome: Reimbursement for my groceries services reconnected

energy sales tactics
Their Dallas sales agents target low income and elderly customers to make thousands of dollars per week. Often times they have their customers break contracts leaving the customer with huge penalties telling they don't have to pay it. They also target customers they sold for other campaigns and flip them to another company multiple times in a year, making multiple commission dollars off one customer often times by marking the transaction as a move-in so it looks like a new tenant even though it's the same person. The old company gets left with a huge debt since the customer won't pay the last bill resulting in a huge write off in bad debt.
In fact one of their agents who recently made over 8000 in a week has been thrown off at least four other door to door campaigns within the past five years for fraudulent sales activity. Despite being thrown off campaigns involving the puc in many instances, agents are suspended for a day or two and then permitted to start seeking again.
It's a vicious cycle that REPs don't police well and elderly people get scammed into higher bills all so agents can make $250 per sale and brag on social media.
Is Liberty Power Legit?
Liberty Power earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%
Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.
We found clear and detailed contact information for Liberty Power. The company provides a physical address, phone number, and 2 emails, as well as 4 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While Liberty Power has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 13% of 29 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
- We detected that libertypowercorp.com is missing an SSL certificate, which is a cause for concern. Without an SSL certificate, the website may not be taking adequate steps to protect users' sensitive information. This can increase the risk of intercepted data being used for malicious purposes.
- Liberty Power protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
- The website belonging to Liberty Power has a low number of visitors, which could be a red flag for users. However, it's important to conduct additional research to fully evaluate the website's legitimacy and trustworthiness.
electricity service
I am being harassed by this company on a daily basis by their phone solicitors (on a spoofed line, which indicates scammers)! I've tried to explain to them that I am happy with my current provider and that I have researched liberty and that they have numerous bad reviews. The sales people just hang up on me and can't seem to remove me from their call list. I am sick and tired of the harassment! They haven't the common courtesy hear me out and remove me from the call list. If anyone is stupid enough to sign with this company, all the power to them. I don't understand why they have to harass people! (unless they are snake-belly low-lives).
electric
I am so tired of calling and trying to talk with an agent that I cannot understand because they don't speak english. I am also tired of paying my bill and the electric getting shut off anyway. I have upper respiratory problems and if I get too hot I cannot breathe I have chronic asthmatic bronchitis. If something happens to me because of this I sure hope you all can explain it to my family. I will be finding a mire reliable electric company... That I can understand and speaks english
utility service
Someone came to my house claiming to be with Encore. Encore had been to my home earlier that week to read the meter. I assumed this was a follow up because he said he was from there. He asked to see the meter and the bill. He proceeded to tell me I was being overcharged and they were working to resolve the issue. That is NOT what he did. He ILLEGALLY and FRAUDULENTLY tried to switch my utility service. I received 8 letters today from them, he ran my name 8 different ways to open that account. I have never even heard of this company and been with my utility company over 10 years, there's no way I would've changed like that. These people are out here running people credit and switching their service without their knowledge nor consent. This needs to be stopped! This company and their employees need to be prosecuted.
agent from liberty power switch my account
This morning agent from liberty power showed up at my door and said he is with com-Ed and associated with liberty power services to offer savings on electricity bill.
He took comEd details from my roommate and made him enroll to switch service for my account
When I went through about this company it sounds more like a scam and I'm sure that I'm gonna pay price even for the termination of contract
Keeping my fingers crossed as I need to check with them tomorrow as today is their work off due to holiday
illegal door-to-door soliciting (fact, not opinion)
Workers for this company (with employee badges) have been visiting my neighborhood in Lorain County, Ohio. In MY area of the county, they must have a PERMIT in hand, available on request - BUT THEY DO NOT.
In fact, checks with the area zoning department has suggested that businesses like this (alternate utility provider) are NOT granted a permit for door-to-door soliciting (ie: they can sell/offer their program, just not door-to-door).
Lax policing in my area has failed to protect consumers in this area, so please get educated and find alternate means to see that your local laws are enforced.
im complaining about the company
I would never recommend Liberty Power to anyone an employee came to my house and she explained that i would get lower bills and i switched with them. Then i get a letter in the mail saying that my service was cancelled because supposely i was moving when i was not and i called and they said that i could reinstate with them and by this day i already had a $200 termination fee and didnt even know about it so i said ok and they reinstated my account and one of the representatives told me we are going to wave the fee so that same day they cut my light of and i didnt understand why and i called back and they told me that they could not provide me service until 5 days to a week so i was stuck without light for 2 days in this hot weather all because they said i could and now i had to look for another light company since i have kids but they didnt do anything to help me at all. So i definetly do NOT recommend Liberty Power.
electric harassing phone calls
I have gotten at least 15 phone calls in the last week from Liberty Power. I have gotten 3 just today. The last was from Jon in Texas who works for Liberty Power in Florida.
He gave me a call back number of [protected], I don't know if that is right or not because all of their phone calls look like a local number.
It is getting so you never want to answer your own phone anymore!
electric bill
I was misled by Liberty Power when I was told that my electrical rates for my bill would be lesser than my bill with Ameren Cilco.
I have my bills for the last 10 months of being with Liberty Power Corp. And they've being over charging me from the first day that I've signed on with them.
In addition, they're soliciting the poorer class neighborhood in which I live.
They have different rates for their clients.
My bills for the last 3 months has been over $200 and I live alone in an apartment. Whereas in the past, before coming a customer of liberty power corp, my electrical bill never ran in the $200 range even in the winter months.
liberty power
This company provided false advertisement. They offer you lowers rates only to find out two months later your electric bill is higher then ever. They promise a gift which was never provide. You have only 7 days to cancel but you wont get your first bill until a month later. please don't get caught in this scam say no you will end up with 3 times a higher bill.
How Do I cancel it?
electric power supply
A person named David(an Indian voice) called on the phone. He said he was representing National Grid.He wished to offer a fixed price electric supply for a two year period. He said the price would be $0.16807 per KWH.I asked whether the price covered both the electric power supply as well as the transmission costs. He replied in the affirmative. He then asked me to write down the contract number as [protected].He said I could CANCEL the contract within the next three days.If I did not then the cancelation charge would be $10 for every month remaining on the contract. He then gave me the name Liberty Power and the phone number as [protected].I then looked up Liberty Power on the web, and read about the many complaints about the company.I did called the company the next day, but no-one responded. So I sent them an email at [protected]@libertypowercorp.com cancelling the contract [protected].I also sent an email to National Grid to NOT change my electric supplier.I will of course be calling Liberty Power tomorrow(Monday).

Fraud and deception
Your representative was deceptive misleading and misrepresenting when he called me to transfer suppliers His name is Erik Schaaf. He assured me that although the rate looked higher all the other charges relating to delivery would be dropped and that the net result would be a cheaper bill. Obviously an outright lie. I have complained to PURA [protected] who are taking this up on my account. I also intend to pursue all social media to let anyone who is interested in Liberty power to check very carefully because there is no morality or true dealing in your sales practices
OMG! Something similar happened to me. I asked how my bill would be lower if their rate was higher and the representative told me that the distribution charge would be gone or one of those high charges. Now, I am trying to get rid of them. I can't believe that they are allowed to do this kind of thing. Unreal!
Telemarketing to people on the Do NOt Call List
I am a customer of ComEd and not a customer of Liberty Power. I received a call today at 1:18 PM from phone #[protected]. A robot claimed to be calling from ComEd and said if I’ve paid my bill on time for 6 months in a row and wanted to save 15% on my ComEd bill I should press “1” – so I did. A man who claimed his name was Jason Smith (I highly doubt it) and had a very heavy Indian accent started to talk; I noticed a long delay in answering any of my questions, as if the call was occurring in an international call center, perhaps India. I asked him if he was a ComEd employee. He gave me a run around for awhile about being my supplier of fixed energy through ComEd. After much questioning, he finally admitted that he was a supplier to some ComEd customers, and not my supplier and was trying to sell me on joining up with Liberty Power. I explained to him that I was on the federal “Do Not Call List” and that it was illegal for him to call me unless he was a non-profit or currently doing business with me. I told him I was going to report this breach and asked him to take me off his calling list. I spoke firmly but professionally. He responded exactly this way … “Go f yourself”! and then hung up on me. I want this man fired.
unethical behavior, deception
A Liberty Power representative came to our door saying something about an error in our recent electric bill, or a price change. He was dressed in an official uniform with badge and clip board. Our apartment building is locked at the outside door, so we assumed he must have some official reason to have been admitted.
Next, he asked to see a copy of our most recent power bill. We unfortunately obliged. He explained that ComEd, our electricity provider, buys electricity from a variety of suppliers at the cheapest rate. However, this supply charge is vulnerable to price hikes at peak demand times, and we could see our electric bill go up substantially. He was offering a service where we would sign up via ComEd (no credit card information, separate bills, etc. required), to receive all of our power supply from Liberty Power, guaranteeing us a fixed rate. He looked at our bill and told us what we were currently paying, and he underlined the rate. We did not particularly know how our electric bill was priced (6 different kWh rates were there), and we assumed he was being truthful. He said that based on our current rate, Liberty Power's fixed rate would save us ~1 cent/kWh, and it would all come from renewable energy. We decided to sign up after he pressured us further and said we could cancel anytime for no fee.
After he left, my roommate and I examined our electric bill more closely and found that he had deliberately misled us. He had underlined a kWh rate on the "delivery" part of the bill, not the "supply" part which would be affected by Liberty Power's service. In fact, when we calculated with the correct rate, Liberty Power's fixed-rate would nearly double our supply cost, meaning that our whole electric bill could increase by about 25% or more.
Unbelievable: fortunately, we found out about the Federal Trade Commission's 3 business day "Cooling-off rule" which guarantees you can cancel such a service for up to 3 days afterwards, in a legally binding manner. We left a legally threatening email at Liberty Power's customer service center, and they said our service was cancelled.
This company is banking on deceiving people who don't pay attention to the details, milking them for an excessive electricity rate for a few months before they realize they are paying 25-50% more, and then move on to the next mark after they cancel. They deliberately deceived us, which I would think is illegal. Please slam the door if they come knocking at your residence.
Unethical behavior
I was contacted, via e-mail by SFC Energy Consulting on Nov 12. I faxed my bills to them and received a call the next day. The came from Chris Pruitt. He was extremely aggressive and insistent on my signing a contract with Liberty Power. I told him I already have a contract with Direct Energy. I have no record of any contract signed or unsigned. I do remember an authorization call but I have no hard copies of anything from Liberty Power. Now I hear from Direct Energy that my contract was cancelled and I have to pay $2500. I want to cancel any contract with Liberty Power. I want copies of any and all supposed contracts. As a very Senior Citizen and a female, I feel I was taken advantage of.

I was recently scammed by Liberty Power. I have a formal investigation in progress against Liberty Power. If you have not resolved your claim against Liberty, let me know as i am looking to put together a class action law suit...Larry
SFC Energy Consulting and Chris Pruitt contacted me on Oct 12 2015 to offer a free analysis of my energy usage for my businesses. I had a very good experience with them. I have 24 accounts with very high usage. I signed an agreement with Constellation with another energy broker but the other broker failed to tell me the agreement was "Energy Only" which means additional fees were passed through and I would have to pay it. Chris educated me on what to look for when choosing a supplier so I would be better prepared the next time I do it. To my surprise, Chris was able to find me a better agreement that not only paid my early termination fee of $4150, but also saved me an additional $4000 for the next 2 years. It was with Liberty Power.
Electricity-Scammer, Liars
Liberty Power should be ashamed of themselves. They go around saying that they can provide better service and that's a lie. They should be banned. My grandmother is an elderly lady and they tell her that she's going to being way less than what shes paying her bills have only doubled, she's on a fixed income and doesn't even understand what's say or asked to...

They charged my electric rate triple from what PECO charged. And the bill comes up $1566/ month. used to be around $500/month. Called them up to fix the bill, But the supervisor said they can't do anything about the rate, They said the rates is based on PECO variable rates, and I called PECO asking about their rates. And then I know This company is totally BS. I never did my research, If back then I googled them up, and I'd have never in this mess.
The rates went triple once the contract is due.
Luckily I can walk out the contract. So People, beware of this company. Never sign up with Them if you don't want in debt
