My late husband and I got involved with LHVC in September 2014 whilst on a holiday in the Junior Suites. We went to the welcome meeting and they couldn't have been more helpful. Decided to upgrade to the Gold membership 4-6 bedroom villa with all the benefits, golf cart, private beach, Azule restaurant, free entry to Ocean World, trip to casino and cabaret show. Next year took 3 family members us. Five adults were placed in a cramped old fashioned 2 bedroom villa that only had 4 of everything, chairs, cutlery, sun loungers etc. Also no golf cart. Complained and told nothing else available Fell into the trap completely! Apparently they had recently upgraded the membership and to get the larger villas you now had to be Diamond members... Out of embarrassment we stupidly upgraded to Diamond and were instantly moved to a luxurious 6-8 bedroom villa ... Wow! Next year took brother with us. Again put into a small old fashioned villa which although disappointing could accommodate 3 adults. No golf cart for the first week, private beach had twice as many sun beds so quite cramped. Next time took brother again. Same type of old small villa again, no golf cart, no trip to cabaret, no room in top restaurants, another layer of membership had been added... Platinum now being the top membership, just below shareholders. Shareholders now had a new private beach, which was virtually deserted whilst not enough sun beds to be able to use the original private beach.
In August 2016 we had booked a 2 week stay in a 6-8 bed villa to take son, his wife and 3 teenage children. My husband became ill with a serious lung disease and was not allowed to fly by his consultant. We were obviously disappointed but he insisted that we went without him, this reduced our party to 6 people. When we arrived we were told there were no villas available at all and we would have to be split up into separate twin bed apartments. No private pool, no top restaurants, no golf cart, no chef to cook breakfast etc etc. Nothing that was acceptable for a ‘family' holiday. I was devastated especially when I had informed them of my husband's lung disease and that he was waiting to be assessed for a lung transplant. Eventually after hours of arguing and plenty of tears we were placed in a small villa for the night whilst they tried to sort something out. Next morning we were moved to a larger villa that had been ‘opened up' especially for us. What an absolute disgrace. Musty smell, toilets wouldn't flush, no hot water, sometimes no water at all, leaking fridge, mouldy bathrooms, kitchen cupboards falling apart, construction work going on next to us from early morning til dusk, not able to get into top restaurants either. Complained again ... day after day but they insisted it was all they had available. It was NOT what was booked, agreed, promised. After a few days we decided to make the best of it.
When we returned my husband's health deteriorated rapidly and he became virtually housebound. He was dependent on oxygen 24 hours a day and was too ill to be considered for lung transplant. He notified LHVC that we would not be in a position to ever use the membership ever again and assured me that they would cancel our membership immediately. He stopped our monthly payments from October 2016 and we thought this was the end of it.

My husband sadly passed away on 30 0ctober 2017 at the age of 66 years.

On 13 December 2019 (39 months later) I suddenly get an email out of the blue to say that I have arrears of USD 10, 657 that have to be paid. They have a special promotion for a limited period only to pay off my membership IN FULL if I pay NOW they will apply a 5% discount and I only need to pay USD 26, 782
