I researched a long time before finally shelling out 255.00 for a ghd flat iron. The one I wanted at sephora was no longer available and since I didn't want a pale pink one I looked for another color, thus finding folica who has posted on their website that they are a ghd approved online retailer. I also read the reviews, one saying they had no problem registering their iron through ghd who holds the two year warranty and guarantees it is an authentic iron.
The iron came yesterday after a lengthy wait. Its gorgeous purple and came with a bag, but I went to register it and low and behold, it is not a valid number. This had me in tears since I could have bought the pale pink one from sephora for the same price and had the real thing.
I called folica at six in the morning my time (they are on the east coast) was treated rudely and told different stories. One asked me why I didn't buy from sephora and I told her because I wanted the purple one... No other reason,... The price was the same, plus I would have gotten freebies. She hung up the phone on me. I called back to get another story from another rep... Who said that folica registers all of its flat irons with ghd and my warranty is with them which makes no sense at all... Plus why was their a fake review on their website that said they had registered theirs then. They tried to give me a phone number to ghd and I said I have their number and will be calling them myself. Do they think I was born yesterday? They could have me calling another one of their numbers! I asked if their was a return slip in the package so I could send this back and was hung up on a second time. They also sent me two discount cards that were expired. What would you expect from a company whos owner is a crook?
I am making a complaint about them to the better business bureau and suggest anyone else who has had this kind of treatment to do the same

folica sells fake ghd flat irons/ no warranty through ghd

This is a complete flat out lie, don't be a rude about something you have no idea about. Clearly you did something wrong because I ordered my GHD straightener on Folica and registered it with no problems at all.
fake fraud & rude customer service!

fraud
$125.90 unauthorized charge when I tried to return my defective sedu hair straightener. Company tied up my money for days when they weren't authorized to charge me more than $9.95. Rude customer service agents and totally unhelpful customer service supervisor. I would never buy from folica.com again! In my eyes when they charge you a full retail price to replace a defective product that is fraud! I did not get a resolution quickly and sat on hold for 4 separate calls due to their poorly trained customer service individuals. It was a otal nightmare! I tried to get my money back so I never had to deal with them again and the flat out refused to return my purchase price. Fraud!

I really regretted buying from Folica. I bought 4 hair appliances from them (Conair Straightener, Hot Tools Crimper, Hot Tools Deep Waver and Remington Hot Rollers). I really regret not reading these reviews first before purchasing from them. When the items arrived, I excitedly tested out the items, but only the crimper and hot roller can be switched on. The other 2 cannot. So I emailed Folica to ask.
Their reply was not only unhelpful, but also very matter-of-fact and insincere. First they told me that “international customers cannot use appliances without dual voltage”. I was surprised at their short and cold reply, with no offer to find out more about my problem. I then replied them with a question, asking if that’s the case, why are the items being sold to international customers? And why wasn’t it mentioned upfront to us that international customers cannot use them?
Anyway, I knew about the voltage difference, so I also bought a voltage converter from Folica. I told them more about my problem, that I could not power on the appliances with the converter. And their second reply to me was “You have voided the warranty by using it with a converter”. I was like…what?! Where in the website was this stated? And the item can’t even be switched on, so how could I have used it? An appliance is used only when there is power running through it right? Some may even say an appliance is used only when it starts serving its function, not when there is electricity through it. The problem now is they can’t even be switched on! Moreover, the converter was from Folica in the first place! They sold me the converter, and now tell me that I have voided the warranty by using it. Does that sound like a conspiracy?
Folica states on their website that if for any reason customers are not satisfied with their order, can exchange or return within 30 days. Now mine can’t even work….
Folica is not replying to my emails or queries. I really don’t know what I have landed myself into. I thought I could trust them…but apparently not….totally utterly disappointed….. I have paid so much for the items to be shipped over, and now they are only for display purposes……if anyone can help me…pls do… You can reach me at dreamsbolt@gmail.com... Your help wld be greatly appreciated….
The person above said- shop somewhere else and pay more while getting a fraction of the service... well... if their site was up to date, i would have shopped somewhere else and got the same product for $60 less. I would rather have mine returned but i used it before i went back to their site to write a review. (and looking at a zillion flat irons, you tend to forget which you have looked at already and initially I thought it was correct)
I just hope they update their site so others dont get a different or OLDER model!
It sounds to me like you're one of those people that are just impossible to please, I've actually dealt with Folica's customer service on numerous occasions and was incredibly thrilled at how eager they were to assist. If you don't like Folica, it's pretty simple, shop elsewhere and pay more while getting a fraction of the service.
That doesn't sound like fraud but it does sound like some sort of miscommunication/poor customer experience. I'd guess there's more to the story than what you posted. Seems too weird for that to be how things run at a company as big as Folica.
defective product
I ordered an Emjoi light caress corded epilator from folica.com. When I received the product it looked fine but when I opened it and plug it in to use it, it never worked. The product was defective so I returned the item paying 7$ for shipping/handling. They returned only 48$ out of 59. So technically I never get to use the product and went through the pain of ordering, waiting, returning and costed me 7+11=18$ for nothing! Is it my fault that they send me a defective product? They need to take responsibility for their action!
And one more thing when I did not give a good review to their service on their website they never actually uploaded my review. Apperently they keep an eye on reviews and upload only good reviews for other customers to see to increase their sale. Very cunning people. This website should be banned for its unethical means.
I totally agree not to buy from Folica. I am from Singapore and I bought 4 hair appliances from them (Conair Straightener, Hot Tools Crimper, Hot Tools Deep Waver and Remington Hot Rollers). I really regret not reading these reviews first before purchasing from them. When the items arrived, I excitedly tested out the items, but only the crimper and hot roller can be switched on. It sounds as though an error was made in the return by not refunding for the shipping. If this customer would call Folica we would gladly refund her the shipping charges.
bad service
I purchased a very expensive Bio Ionic Nano I 5X hairdryer ($165) and also the diffuser ($25) that goes with it from Folica.com. The diffuser would not stay on the dryer due to some defect. I contacted Folica to get a new diffuser. After numerous conversations per email and telephone, they finally agreed to send me a new one. It's been 6 weeks and it never showed. I finally contacted my credit card company and asked them to deal with it and credit my card for the amount. This was an immensely frustrating experience, especially when you spend that amount of money. You expect it will be right or at least be made right. I'm currently searching for a diffuser that will fit the dryer : (Stay away from this company. They don't deserve to be in business : (

sells fake product
I purchased a ghd hair straightener. When I received I noticed something was off. After researching I found out my hair straightener was fake.
I spent 300$ for a fake that probably cost about 20$ to make.
Avoid avoid avoid folica.com!
I am in the process of getting a refund.

Has had my return for 23 days, and is stating that they have not received it, in spite of my FedEx tracking number. After 4 phone calls and over 60 minutes, they acknowledge they have it, but will take another 4-6 business days to process a credit. I have also filed complaints with the BBB and the NJ Attorney General.
BEWARE: WARRANTY NOT HONORED! Folica's customer service has taken a nose-dive!
My SEDU 1-1/2" FLAT IRON stopped heating up. I returned it via Priority Mail within the 2-year warranty period to Folica's Return Dept. along with a copy of my original receipt, the Folica return form found on their website, and a check to cover costs--all as instructed by Folica. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORT! Within a week the package containing all of the items was returned to me UNOPENED and marked REFUSED - RETURN TO SENDER! I called Folica immediately, and the customer service rep falsely claimed they sent my broken flat iron back because "it was a 2007 model, " when in fact THEY DID NOT EVEN OPEN MY PACKAGE to discover that the item I returned was purchased less than two years ago in 2011.
It's a great iron, but it does not last long at all, and one cannot count on Folica to honor the warranty. I switched to a BAYBYLISS PRO NANO TITANIUM for nearly half the price and a 4-year warranty and love it even more than the Sedu.
Folica: You've lost a longtime repeat customer for good. Shame on you.

So did you end up getting a refund? (question to original poster)
they sell fake only at folica.com
I would like to ask this so called customer representative if the iron is not fake then why can't we register it with GHD ourselves? Bet this gets no valid answer.
I too revieved a FAKE GHD iron that I could have bought elsewhere for the same price if I hadn't wanted a certain color. for this I feel stupid. It was unregisterable through GHD. They lied to me saying that their comany registers the iron through GHD and I have to go through them? Right...and I own ocean front property in Arizona as well! Two of their representatives hung up on me, the last because I asked if their was a return slip enclosed? They are rude rude rude, and sent no warranty info whatsoever...so this is null. What do you expect their customer servive to act like when the owner of the company is a crook? I am reporting them to the better business bureau. Beware of these people and go to a place where they treat you wonderful like Sephora.
I bought Shampoo and Conditioner from there, Kerastase. They are not even authorized to sell it. I heard that from the Kerastase company itself. AVOID FOLICA
I am with Folica's customer service and I am not sure why Josie feels that her GHD was a "fake" but I can assure you Folica does sell authentic products. We have been in business since 1998. Folica stands behind the authenticity of everything we sell. All of our merchandise is brand new and guaranteed to be authentic.
warranty scam!
I bought a Revlon blow dryer from Folica. I'd done a tonne of research on this blow dryer, found it was one of the best on the market (better than a lot of the $200 blow dryers) and decided what the hell, I may as well buy it as it was only $28.95. There's a reason it was only $28.95.
The blow dryer stopped working less than a month after I bought it. Okay, I thought, no biggy, it's covered under warranty. Folica goes on and on about their warranty, but guess what? It sucks!
To get my blow dryer replaced, I have to pay to ship it back to Folica (fine, understandable) but then I have to pay Folica $29.95 to get it replaced. So, I have to pay MORE than the cost of the blow dryer to get my blow dryer replaced under warranty. This is absolute garbage... what's the point of the warranty?
I ordered a sedu flat iron from folica.com over two weeks ago and I haven't received It. I payed for two day shipping. Why do I have to pay extra for fast shipping when they are delaying more than a week or who knows when they are going to deliver It. The customer service keeps saying " the order is in process please call tomorrow" They don't even have an Idea of when are they are going to deliver It or why It has delayed so much! They don't charge your credit card so you have to be on the expectation of a sudden charge without notice in your credit card and have to keep checking the balance to not comit a mistake.
I read once that if you are happy with a service or product, you tell 1 person. If you are unhappy, you will tell five. That's why I'm taking the time to tell everyone what a wonderful experience I have had with Folica. In a nutshell: Almost 2 years ago I purchased a $200 Sedu flat iron. Received it within one week, and free shipping to boot. 23 months later it lost power. I called customer service (less that 1 min. hold time) and they gave me all the info I needed to send in my warranty. HERE"S THE BEST PART: I mailed it back at 4:30pm on a Tuesday, and Friday evening, Folica notified me that my new iron was on it's way via UPS. I checked the tracking number and it is indeed on it's way. How could they possibly improve on that service? I plan on spreading this comment on the web, so excuse me if you see it again. Thank you Folica!
I TOTALLY AGREE! I BOUGHT A SEDU FLAT IRON FROM THEM FOR OVER A WEEK AND HAVEN'T RECEIVE IT! THEY SENT IT BY USPS AND USPS TRACKING SYSTEM SUCKS! SO I CALLED THEM TO ASK IF THEY KNOW WHERE MY ORDER IS AND THEY KEEP SAYING TO CALL BACK LATER! AND EVERYTIME I CALL AND TALK I HAVE TO KEEP SAYING HELLO? HELLO? BECAUSE THE PERSON STOP TALKING FOR LIKE 10 MINUTES EVERY TIME I SAY SOMETHING! I AM REALLY FURIOUS, IF I DON'T RECEIVE IT IN A WEEK I'LL MAKE SURE THAT THE SENTENCE "FOLICA IS A SCAM! DO NOT BUY" EVERYTIME TO SEARCH IT UP ON GOOGLE! I AM NOT GOING TO BUY FROM THEM AGAIN, SHOULD HAVE SEARCHED THEM UP ON GOOGLE BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING FROM THEM!
undelivered item
I spent over twenty minutes on the phone getting transferred around about a very simple order that I placed online. I ordered a Sedu and the product arrived crushed. Folica told me they would send a new one out and would file a complaint with UPS. I never got a replacement and my card was charged. I called twice since then and sent one email. I am really getting sick and tired of this and I would like to get a call back from a manager that can remedy this situation. I am not pleased at all. I am surprised folica.com allows these sorts of problems to exist
They told me they couldnt find my order when I purchase a Solia flat iron. So, naturally I place another order thinking I made the mistake. WELL, I ended up getting charged twice for 2 flat irons. Customer Service sucks. How can you NOT find our orders when we give you all of our information. Worthless
selling half way used products as new
I bought some beauty products from Folica.com and some of them were already half way used and other were busted open and spilled inside the shipping box. I tried to contact them to have them replace the products and they ignore my emails and never got back to me.
I ordered two solia 1-1"1/4" inch flat irons.
I received one of them in 3 business days and it was a "used"/returned product that had scratch marks all over it and did not look even close to new. The starigtening liquids sent to me were covered with dust on the caps.
On the second one I did not even recieve an email about the order being placed or shipped even after 4 business days after the order was originally placed. When I called the customer service I spoke to an agent called R**k who was an absolute a*****e. He could not check on the status of the order and could not offer immediate follow-up too. The product from this website and their customer service sucks bigtime! They have NO customer service at all.
failure to refund / bad customer service
We ordered a straightner as a gift for Mothers Day and paid for 2 Day Air shipment - we did not receive it in the 2 days - in fact it took as long as it would have for regular shipping (long past Mothers Day). We got the wrong product - so I called and talked to 2 different Customer Service People - each one told us a different story about how their return policy works (each negative to what most companies handle this type of thing). They even went so far to tell me how UPS works - and I know for a fact how UPS delivers - their delivery days for 2 Day air, etc. Argumentative again! (See below).
We reordered the correct item - and was told that we would be refunded for the 2 day air shipping charge for the first item. This never happened! Then when I called to check status of our new order - it hadn't even been finalized to ship! The lady in Customer Service verified that this was what happened and finalized my order and told me she was putting me in right then to ship my new order and also for a refund for the 2 day air shipment. Then we returned the wrong item.
I called today - May 28th to see if they had received it because I hadn't received a refund on our credit card. She said she didn't have record of receiving it - and it wasn’t until we found the tracking number that it showed they had received it on May 20th! She said she was going to put me in for a refund - but it could take 6-10 business days! I told her - it's been 8 days (not business days - but close) and she informed me that she told me it would take this long to get a credit! I asked her - what is your process for handling returns! They didn't even have it in their records that I had returned the item!
She said that it takes their receiving department time because they get pallets of returns and they have to work throught them to find out who returns items, etc. I find it hard to believe - or maybe I don't considering how bad their customer service is - that they get that many items returned that in 8 days they hadn't recorded that my item had been returned!
If I hadn't called - and if I didn't have a tracking number - who knows how long it would take!
The customer Service person was argumentative - rude - and basically called me a liar because she said she told me it would take 6-10 business days to get a credit! I know for a fact she didn't tell me this - and when I told her that - she said - excuse me - I have it in my notes that I told you that! She was at this point 'yelling' at me - and basically calling me a liar because I told her at no point did she tell me it would take that long! Besides - on May 13th was the day I talked to her and that was the day she was putting me in for a credit for the 2 day shipping charge for the first item (the wrong item). Even if it takes 6-10 business days - I should have received that shipping credit by now!
I then said - well, it's been since the 20th that you received my returned item - you don't even show that it's been returned other then being able to track it via UPS!
I guess Folica relies on UPS's records to know whether or not they have received a return - or a call from a customer because they haven't received a refund! This is unacceptable in my opinion!
I then asked to talk to the owner. She wouldn't give me his name - or wouldn't transfer me to him - and she hung up on me! I couldn't believe this!
Not only are the people who take the orders not knowledgeable about their procedures for handling situations - they don't finalize orders to ship - but when they can't help you - they pass you off to customer service who aren't friendly - and YELL at their customers!
Even though Folica's prices are good - I would NEVER order from them - and God help anyone who has to return something!
BE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR TRACKING NUMBER - THEN BE SURE YOU CHECK WITH THEM WHEN YOU RETURN SOMETHING TO MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR CREDIT!
I would rate this company very, very low! I would love a call from the owner to discuss the terrible service I received.
Buyer beware - and especially if you have to return something!
Thank you!
I totally agree not to buy from Folica!
Does that sounds like a conspiracy?
Now they are not replying to my emails and queries.
I ordered a flat iron and noticed it was dirty with hair product and definitely used. I called immediately and was told that a brand new one would be mailed, but I am really disappointed that they would send me used products and charge me $130 as if it was a brand new item. I will not use this site again.
i bought a sedu flat iron and still is waiting for it to deliver. It had been over a week and haven't receive it yet. It was on regular shipping but whatever it should have come sooner. I went to track the order on usps, and as you know usps has a very slow updated tracking system. So i decided to call customer service and they told me they have no record of the order either. And the guy keep telling me to call back. So i called back and then this other lady told me to call back. So basically most of them keep telling me to call back. And i ask them what happen if i don't receive it in two weeks? And they hung up on me. I am very furious right now. I'll make sure to post wherever it is possible that folica is a scam and so that people won't buy it again. And by the way, reading all of your review, after i receive it it's probally is a fake or a returned/used item or something, oh please help me god, make it not. This thing cost me about $100. That's a lot for me since i took a lot of time to save up that money.
I ordered two solia 1-1"1/4" inch flat irons. I recieved one of them in 3 business days and it was a "used"/returned product that had scratch marks all over it and did not look even close to new.
I ordered a Chi 1" flat iron. Turns out it's a fake/aftermarket. I called Farouk Systems in Houston, TX and they verified that Folica.com is not an authorized Chi dealer and that Farouk (Chi) is suing them for fraud!
I now have to return this fake item and hope that I can get my $ back! I have notified my bank of the fraudulant charge, yes, it's fraud when you sell a fake!
I agree with the complaint. I placed an order and was wondering why it was taking so long to ship. When I called them, they didn't even have a record of the order. They kept reading me a previous order number from a order that I already received. Meanwhile, their system sends me an order confirmation via email, and paypal sends me an email stating that Folica was paid. How can they send me a confirmation email if their computers can't find my order. They have a good selection of things, but with all of the aggrevation I am having with this, I don't think I will want to purchase from them for a long time.
I asked to speak with a supervisor, but they said their was none available. What kind of company is this. The lady said to call back in 3 days if I did not receive the order. I should have had it the day I called. Beware of this site.
failure to refund returned item
Hello: I placed an order at Folica.com (Order No. 4754926) on March 2/07 for an epilator (hair removal device). Two days later (March 4/07), I realized that I had actually intended to a rechargeable model, not the non-rechargeable model. I immediately asked Folica to cancel the order, who advised me: "Unfortunately we are unable to change your order since...

I bought hair dryer from the company Folica. I paid for it $150, and it arrived on time. I opened it and decided to try it, but the hair dryer burned out. I contacted the customer services in order to solve this problem. It was impossible to reach this company, because their phone was busy all the time. When I finally contacted them, I received rude response, and they refused to refund. I would like to inform other people not to buy from them.
my flat iron died and I needed a new one, so after hearing consistently that folica was real I did not hesitate. Unfortunately when the iron arrived, I knew it was different than my previous one so I questioned my first ones authenticity. 8 months later the plates literally melted off the iron and I did more research. The one from folica had all the telltale signs, sticker instead of engraved label, red bulb instead of white and no swivel cord. Don't be fooled by hologram labels. those can be replicated thousands of times and my NEW one bought in a salon retailer store that is certified to sell them did nt have hologram labels. FOLICA denied the iron being fake when I contacted them and wanted 20 more dollars to ship a new one. No way. don't be fooled by youtubers who are paid to sell their product.
